Drowning in the Music
Hi. Long-time member, long-time role player, and now a first time partner searcher. I've wanted to refocus a larger part of my life to writing recently, so I'm looking to expand my role playing to more than the couple of lovely partners I have and test the waters here. Not to scare away any potential partners, but I might as well be picky now and not waste either of our times if it won't be a good fit. I'm really easy going and I think a fairly fun partner to write with, but I do have some particulars you should know:
So, let's plot. This is why I have never really done a partner search because I'm honestly not that picky with the genre or story. I like so many ideas others have posted and get so inspired by all your amazing plotting talents. My counter is then, how about I tell you what I'm not looking for? Let's talk about the rest.
My ideal partner is someone reading this, craving something that inspires them and is looking for the right partner to do it with. So PM me a summary of that craving or the opening scene if you already have it and let's go from there!
- I'm old, at least for some of this crowd. I'm looking for a more mature partner that has some of that experience which they can pull from for their writing. I don't think this is defined by a specific age, but 30+ probably gets you there. Not against anyone younger if its a good fit, as long as you're 21+.
- I'm looking for advanced writers. While I don't think I'm that advanced, 15+ years role playing and writing on my own seems to say otherwise and I'm really looking for someone to match that level with me. What's advanced? For me it's quality and quantity. I typically write anywhere between 1000-2000+ words, maybe a little less mid-conversation and a bit more for openers or transitions. My writing tends to be descriptive, when its helpful and not just filler. Introspective, with a lot of internal monolog and insight from my character's point of view. Reflective, I like to give snippets of the character's history which might better explain why they think something or why they would act a certain way. Lastly, I write with humility; I don't like characters being the strongest or the prettiest, I enjoy flaws and missteps and will always weave opportunities for character growth in the story.
- Along with the above, I thrive in dynamic stories that aren't don't have linear plots. If this isn't your strong suit and you're more of a contributor, that works too. I want a partner that can plot with me and discuss the 5 ways the story could go- and then go with the one that makes the most sense for their characters at that time. I can't plan out the entire story; I want it to unfold as we go and have the chance to experience surprise twists and interesting sub-plots that enrich the story.
- Ok, the basics, I always play multiple characters and I would prefer a partner that does as well. I'm good with just two mains, but I don't think a story can survive without a world around them, so I'm looking for someone who can contribute sub-characters that filter in and out of the story, both plot contributing and not. If you feel like you're a lot of characters at once, we're probably a great fit.
- That being said, I prefer to play male mains and I'm specifically looking for a female counterpart. I'll play any pronoun outside of that pairing as it contributes to the story.
- And that being said, I'm absolutely looking for a painfully slow burning romance MxF in whatever story we do. I'm a dark romantic at heart and might as well be honest that it's what inspires me to write. However, that isn't to say that our story must be a romance and the end is love- I'm looking for romance to be intertwined in drama, deceit, death, and a long list of mature themes I'm open to.
- If you made it reading this far, then shoot me a PM and let's talk about what you're looking for. I work from home, so I'm online all day nearly every day and plan to post at least once a day as inspiration hits me; I'm flexible on your own schedule- we're all busy humans. Located MST, but time zone in the US would be fine. I prefer to post to a google docs, or posting here on the site.

- Not fandom. Only interested in original stories, original characters.
- Not superheroes.
- Not the futuristic, Not Sci-Fi. I'm just simply not good at it.
- Not crime/horror. I actually love scary movies, but my writing does not fit this genre.
- Nothing too religious or political. I can have it in a bigger story, but this as the main plot I'm not into.
- Fantasy; I like interesting, unique, make-it-our-own takes on vampires, werewolves, demons, angels, fae, etc.
- Modern/Slice of Life; as long as its interesting, I'm in.
- Historic; I love history, almost any time period.
