Rowena watched as Jayson took out the small knife and gun and snorted in amusement. Sliding her sword back into it's place on her hip, Rowena shrugged and gestured for the two people to attack her. "Then, I guess I will be weapon less." Through all her years of combat and piracy - although, that was only about six years - Rowena had grown to tell when someone was a good shot. Smirking at the girl's confidence, Rowena took note of her bravery and confidence. She'd be a great gunman - or woman. Rowena quickly moved out of the way of the bullet, chuckling when it smashed through the same glass wall she was leaning against two posts a few minutes ago.
"I like your style, girl." Rowena commented as she appeared behind the two people, keeping an eye on her over heating arms. "What is your name?" The pirate captain wasn't very sure about the man, but he had enthusiasm, didn't he? Then again, I've met a few people that lost a leg or so because of their "enthusiasm". Deciding that the girl would be a fine addition to her crew, Rowena proceeded to advance on the man. Please at least dodge this one. Rowena threw a little kick to the man's legs, hoping his reflexes were fast enough because fall on this burning hot deck twice would suck.
Vance watched as Rowena drew her sword. The method might not have been his favorite, but he was glad to know that she was willing to give them a chance. Rowena wouldn't just waste her time with a fight if she didn't think these two were worth it. "Don't go too hard on them, but make sure you don't take it easy either." These people definitely wouldn't be on the same level as Rowena, but she needed to efficiently test them.
He looked towards the man who had spoken and was rummaging through his pack. "Jayson was it? I apologize, but I don't think it would be the right call to give you a weapon. A true pirate knows how to make to with what he has." Vance could remember dozens of times he fought with less than appropriate weaponry against opponents. He had even managed to take down a whole squad of pirates with only a sturdy stick back in the day.
Vance watched as the girl fired her bullet, a normal pirate wouldn't be able to dodge, but Rowena was no ordinary pirate. He hadn't really expected for Rowena to put away her sword, but it looked like she was giving them a better chance. The girl had definitely showed skill and his intuition told him that this man has something special as well. "Watch out! She's pretty good at close combat!"
Jayson noticed as the captain put her weapons away, not noticing her snort (or perhaps putting it off). "Fine, I will too." He shoved his knife and gun back into his pack, kinda agreeing with Vance now that he thought about it. "You won't hold it against me if I accidentally punch your face, right?" Jayson was not the kind of fellow that liked hurting a friend of any kind. So, rather than actually trying to hurt the captain, he'd just do what he needed to.
That sounded like a good idea until he realized that he didn't know what he was supposed to do. He put his fists down the scratched the side of his head, shutting an eye. "It's not like my knife's a good weapon anyway, can't I just shoot something and leave it at that? Wait, maybe I need to punch something too..." He gripped his head, getting a little dramatic again, "Aww, I can never just suck it up and leave the solution as punching a girl, can I?!" It was obvious that this guy was going to say a few unexpected words.
Nem watches the battles, almost bemused. "That's the life of piracy, I suppose." He muttered to himself. He never fully understood people, they were all too confusing for his taste. He felt his back with his right arm, and instantly began scolding himself. He didn't even have a backpack with him. But then he thought: {I've never even owned a backpack..?} Then apologized to himself, knowing he already had everything he needed. He looked at the brawl before him again. He saw himself more as the "I'll-screw-you-up-with-words." type of person. However, he was a near-master marksman with the gun he had on his left side, roughly halfway up his torso. He knew it's range, how to calculate range, and it's power. He had to learn how to calculate range properly to become a pirate, anyways. But if he's feeling unsteady, or a bit unsure, his goggles always help.
"Red Brandton, " Red quickly replied, calming down a bit before she realized what she had done. "I just broke an expensive building!" She covered her mouth, regretting the fact that she had announced her crimes for everyone to hear. She removed an unused bullet frome her pocket and carefully placed it through the hole, closing it to end her annoyance.
She looked back closely as the captain went to send another hit, and knew that she'if the boy kept wasting time he'd easily hav his head smashed in the floor. With her gun swinging back over her shoulders. Red ran towards him, swooping him up in her arms and jumping out of reach from the captain. She had to act really fast in order to make it, and barely made it at all. She set him down and glared at him not liking the fact that he didn't have enough guts to hit a girl. "Don't be all weak!"
Rowena chuckled as she listened to the man talk like a chatter box. "Don't worry, we'll leave before the popos catch us!" Popos were Rowena's "loving" nickname for the police. Yeah, she and the police didn't have a very good relationship with each other. I guess you could call it a love-hate relationship! Securing her hat on her head, Rowena used the low kick to do a surprise higher one to his face. The captain let out a light laugh as she kicked Jayson in the face. "Oops!" Rowena jumped back and remembered that she was wearing heels. Brushing her light auburn hair out of her face, Rowena smiled at the man and thought that maybe if she told him what she was doing he would actually take this seriously. "I'm just testing your abilities to fight, okay? I'm not trying to kill you or anything," Smirking as she jumped up into the air and kicked Jayson in the gut. "Or am I?"
Landing on the ground, Rowena could feel her arms heat up from the sun. I really need to get that coating. Moving back, Rowena jogged - more like sprinted - up to the two possible recruits and swiftly pushed Red to the side. "Get on the ship, Brandton." Winking teasingly at the girl, Rowena jumped over the man and did a quick flip before doing a backwards kick into Jayson's back. "Come on boy! Let's dance!" Rowena giggled lightly only to freeze at what she had just done. Did I just....giggle..? A confused frown grew on Rowena's soft pink mouth as she folded her arms in front of her chest and leaned on one leg. "That was weird."
Jayson gave the girl a look like she was insane. "Weak? I'm not weak, I just wasn't paying any attention. On another note, HOW THE HECK DID YOU PICK ME UP??? You're so skinny, I should weigh more than you!" Jayson didn't sound angry so much as confused. He sighed then rubbed his forehead. "Sorry, parents put a lot of pressure on me as a kid, I tend to not be able to think straight...so their plans FAILED, it backfired!"
Until somebody set him straight, Jayson was probably going to keep unconsciously changing the subject. It's not that he was dumb or weak, he made it quite clear on what he meant. Maybe. He was shocked back into reality when the captain randomly kicked him in the back. Oddly, he didn't topple over. He just looked at her like she was crazy. "I don't know how to dance. How d-oh, THAT. Yeah...if I try to jump or anything, I'll probably slip on the stupid dock. I need new shoes..."
Rowena stopped fighting when Jayson didn't fall over. "He's coming with us." The captain flashed the man a cheeky grin before reaching up to ruffle his hair. "What conditioner do you use?" Rowena asked nonchalantly as she walked back to Vance's side, like the fight hadn't even happened - although, Rowena wouldn't even consider that a "fight". "You have nice hair." Chuckling lightly, Rowena nodded to Vance and then sat down on one of the barrels, waiting for more people to walk up to her.
"I'm hungry." Rowena stated loudly so that everyone could hear her. "If there's no one else that wants to join then I'm going to go get some food." Looking around, Rowena waited a few seconds for the others to ask her if they could join. Standing up, Rowena sighed and walked past the broken glass and headed for a nearby restaurant. They still had time to approach her, they just have to do it now.
Vance laughed at Rowena's actions and the interraction from the possible recruits. He hadn't had an actual laugh in a very long time. He would always be smiling and give a chuckle here an there, but sometimes those actions were forced. He was glad to see Rowena enjoying herself and hoped that the new crew could help bring out more of that side of her.
Vance smiled when Rowena made her decision. "Welcome to the crew!" They were actually doing it, they were making their return to the world of piracy. "I'm not particularly hungry, but I would like to get going before the authorities arrive." Although he was a pirate, Vance respected the law, but they had no money to pay for the damages. He ran up to Rowena and walked on her right side. "So, where are we going?"
(everything's happening so fast that I'm getting confused, that's why Jayson's a derp-face @3@))
Jayson stood there for a moment, confused. "Uh...thanks?" In all honesty, he didn't know what conditioner he used. He just bought whichever one said 'conditioner' and didn't smell like rat. He scratched his head, trying to process what had just happened. It took him a moment before he realized that he had just gotten excepted. He immediately brightened up, grinning the biggest grin he ever grinned.
He hurried after the captain, slipping a little but not falling. "Thanks a ton Captain! If you don't mind, I'll pay for your food." He was in the best of moods and he wanted to make it up to the captain. Of course, he knew he would do the rest of his repayment in the form of being the best crew member he could. Smiling brightly, he knew for sure that they would achieve something big.
Serus thinks, {Oh, that was utterly embarrassing for that fellow. I'm lucky I com from a background of agile people, and at least I've been in a fight before..} He sighed, stepping up. His goggles were just above his eyes, and he approached the captain, asking the age old question, one that he had asked too much for his liking: "So, I heard you need a new pilot. May I join this crew of yours?" He asks, looking plain, yet completely unique as he always does.
Serus was somewhat ready for a fight, but he was fiddling around with his right-side pouch, seeing what he had brought. He poked himself on a pen, not showing that he did, and found a small journal, and some paper. As well as the vials. Everything he needed was here, now he just needed to get in the crew. Shouldn't be too hard, he's done it ten times before..
Red was so happy when she heard the words, "Get on the ship." She smiled and caught up with them, walking behind and listening to where their destination was for food. Red's smile quickly faded, but not for any reason in particular, just because she didn't smile that often.
Stalking the group from not far behind, Claire continued walking and following them curiously. Such an interesting group, so how could anyone pass off the opportunity for so many inspurations in this one group. She guessed that it was a clique of sorts, because people had to "get accepted" as part of the group, or so it seemed. Eh, That didn't matter.
"Hm, maybe a local bar of some sorts." Rowena whistled a light tune and turned around to face the man who said they needed a new pilot. Narrowing her eyes at the man, Rowena growled lowly him. "Who said we needed a new pilot?" We need a whole new crew. Rowena raised an eyebrow at the newcomer, wondering what she should get for lunch. "As long as you don't crash my baby into anything, sure." There really wasn't anyway Rowena could properly test the man if he would be a good pilot or not, but might as well give him a chance, right?
Gesturing for the man to follow her, Rowena suddenly stopped in her midst and gave a nervous chuckle. "Uh. I don't know where I'm going." Turning to Vance, Rowena rubbed the back of her neck, feeling a little embarrassed that she was already lost. And that's why we need a Navigator.
Clearing her throat, Rowena gestured for Vance to lead the way. The pirate captain wasn't very familiar with this area, she had just dropped by here to recruit new people. Currently The Wicked Turnip only has five people, Rowena was hoping to get at least twelve crew members before dashing out of the city before the popos could catch them.
"I know about three bars around this area," Red spoke up. "Not that I drink very often, but there are two small ones and one that is very popular. The closest one is a small pub by the name of Clyde's. They brew their own beer and import wine fron across the magma." Red knew this because she had memorized the map of the town, after reviewing it over and over.
She remembered when she had so much free time, and compared it to where she was now in society, quickly removing the memories from her mind for the moment.
Vance was glad that they had another potential recruit. It seemed like today would be a good day. He was appreciative of Rowena willing to give this man a chance. They had worked hard for that ship and he knew how much she loved the vessel. It wouldn't be easy for this newcomer to gain approval as their pilot, but he would try to help along the way.
Vance chuckled a little at Rowena's gesture. "I guess I'll take the lead then. I actually know a place not far from here." He continued walking, taking a few turns here and there. He made sure to memorize this area earlier, but it seemed his friend hadn't. He had a habit of preparing for any possible situation. Some may find it excessive, but the habit had come in handy numerous times.
After awhile of walking, he led the group to a bar called Flamin' Joe's. The name was a bit cheesy, but he heard that the food was good and the prices were fair. He held the door open for Rowena and the crew. "After you, Captain."
Feeling ignored, Jayson decided to simply followed everybody, keeping his mouth shut. He couldn't stop smiling though. His dream had come true, he was a pirate. He was going to live up to that song and show everyone that he could be a part of the crew. He would show them exactly the kind of member he could be.
And do you know what? That's what he planned to do. As he gave into his giddiness and grinned again, he couldn't possibly think of anything bad that could happen. As he walked with his hands behind his head, he decided that is captain...was awesome. He couldn't wait to do anything she needed him to do.
Rowena beamed at the polite gesture made by Vance as she entered "Flamin' Joe's". "Why thank you, good sir!" Although she may be an infamous pirate captain, Rowena was still a woman who loved being treated like one. Striding up to the bar, Rowena took out a few coins and ordered some beer for her crew. "And a nice glass of wine for me, please." To be truthful, Rowena wasn't the type of person who was able to hold a lot of liquor. And I'm not planning to wake up in a stranger's bed tomorrow. Rowena sat down in one of the chairs and gestured for her crew to sit down with her.
"So," Rowena started, wondering what she should say. "I guess I should introduce myself." Leaning back in her chair, Rowena crossed her arms and pondered over what she should do. "In fact, we all need to introduce ourselves, don't we?" The captain flashed her crew a friendly smile and recalled a game that she once used with her previous crew for everyone to get to know each other. "We'll go around in a circle, say your name and something about yourself!" Rowena leaned forward and stroked her imaginary beard. "I guess I'm going first..." Looking up at her crew Rowena smirked. "Captain Alvilda, and I have mechanical arms." Raising the machinery, Rowena flashed her fine piece of metalwork to the others.
Vance looked towards the crew and gave a smile. "I'm Vance. I'm the the First Mate and besides that, there's nothing really special about me." Vance never thought highly of himself, as he considered it a weakness. If you thought you were some amazing fighter, you would eventually loose to your own overconfidence.
Vance watched as drinks were brought over to them and the beer was placed on the table. He didn't take a drink out of his glass. He never took to alcohol and preferred any other drink. Although he didn't drink, he always wondered how high his tolerance was. However, he knew Rowena's limits. He would be keeping an eye on her, making sure she remained sober. He could remember the times when he had to help her while she was intoxicated and how irritable she was with a hangover in the morning.
Red looked at the rest of the crew and stated, "My name is Red Brandton and I'm going to try and save the world." She looked at the beer on the table, curiously. She had read about alcoholic beverages as in different types of wines and beers, but had never drunken beer before. Her parents had called it not good enough for the family, and when she had been living on her own she didn't really eat or drink very much, other than various fruits, salads and water.
She seemed to be inspecting it or something, and kind of was. She wondered what it tasted like, but also wondered if she could even drink it. With a sigh, Red looked to the next person for his add in the conversation.
Claire sat down at a table about two spaces over from them, resting her guitar on the side of her chair. She ordered herself a draft beer and began to chug the whole thing down, before releasing a long sigh. She opened her case and took the money she had earned today, placing it on the table and counting it while humming to herself.
Hearing Vance's introduction, Rowena flashed him a little frown and punched him in the shoulder. "There's lots of special things about you!" Smirking cheekily at her First Mate, Rowena chuckled lowly and added, "Remember that time when I dressed you up as a girl?" Rowena leaned back and took a sip of her wine, a silly grin stuck on her face. "You were damn sexy." Winking at her long time friend in a teasing matter, Rowena could already feel herself getting a little bit dizzy after her ninth sip of wine. "And you still are, Vance! You still are!" Rowena giggled hysterically as she leaned on the table with a very drunk expression on her face. Although she was a pirate, Rowena got drunk pretty easily, even the slightest bit of alcohol could knock her out. "We should do that again." The captain took another sip of wine and smiled at her crew.
((For those who aren't currently in the crew, a good idea would be to join in when the bar fight starts. Since most of us aren't on at the current moment, I guess we will do that tomorrow. >3<))
Vance tended to his drunk friend, talking wine from her hand and setting it on he table. "I think you've had enough for today." He was a little unsure where she brought that whole thing of him being dressed like a girl came from. Was the captain telling the truth or was she merely just saying things in her random state? For the sake of the future, that would have to remain confidential.
Vance ordered two cups of coffee for Rowena and himself. Rowena needed help sobering up and he just wanted something to drink. He gave his friend a smile as he tried to calm her enough to answer the questions of the recruit. "I think we'll stay away from the alcohol for awhile. You're already drunk." Memories flooded into his mind of a drunken Rowena. The singing, dancing, and bar fights, they were all pretty good time-wait. As those memories became clearer, Vance slid the wine away even further. They definitely didn't need another bar in their lives.
Violet followed thengroup to the bar. Still she remained unnoticed. Worried, she stepped closer to them and planned out her strategy. How to say "I'm here." without interuping their conversation? She decide to wait for something to happen and go from there. (srry bout the short post.mat school)
Serus, as the circle gets to him, says, "My name is Serus, a professional Pilot. This is my... Eleventh job, don't worry, I haven't crashed any of the ships, the crews are just too boring for my taste." He said, drinking almost his entire glass of alcohol before setting it down, seeming completely fine. He had a high tolerance for alcohol, and could probably remain sober if he drank only that much. Serus was never a big drinker; but it was there; he was thirsty; and so he drank it.
(A young lad with a crazy alcohol tolerance, and a pirate captain with a tiny alcohol tolerance.)
Jayson stared blankly as he watched the captain quickly become drunker and drunker. He looked to the glass of beer before him and gently pushed it away a little. He didn't drink too often because alcohol made his thought process all screwy, so he definitely wasn't going to drink anything that what get him that drunk, that fast. If just plain old wine could get the captain drunk that fast, what could the beer do???
He cleared his throat then smiled at the rest of the crew. "Hey there, my name's Jayson and I've wanted to be a pirate ever since I was a kid and a son told me to be." Jayson was definitely a different sort of character and what made him more unique was his ability to have no idea that he might look crazy. The thought of a song telling him to do something didn't phase him at all, most songs did. And typically, he did what the song wanted him to do. Except for those songs when the singer wants him to be their girlfriend...Jayson thought THAT was the actual crazy thing.
