Making a new page for the simple reason this is my current and specific craving. Check my main page for my other rp checks.

RWBY is just a fun world I think...

This might seem strange, but RWBY is my reason for getting into writing at all. It wasn't -well isn't- the best storytelling around, but it was the people and really the person behind RWBY that really inspired me to write. Monty Oum was someone I didn't know I knew about until RWBY. I always liked his stuff growing up on YouTube, but it was his creation of RWBY that really introduced me to his stuff and what made him my role model going forward. A persistent man who didn't stop until he got what he wanted. May he rest in peace.

Now RWBY itself -again it's not the best story around- but it's just an all-around fun world with very simple yet loose rules. It's a fun world to explore in writing, because so much of it was just left open and with the simple reason you could give to explore it, after all, you're a huntsman or a huntress. It's also open enough that you don't necessarily have to keep to the action pact style of the RWBY story so far, I think.

Now with that out of the way... RWBY is a world I have the strangest craving for right now. I really want someone to rp with in that world, like someone who's as big a nerd as me when it comes to writing. I do have a few rules, I think.

  • I write at the very least 1 paragraph per character and expect that isn't an issue for my partner as well... now I write on average 2-3 paragraphs per character and even more if I am into the story we are writing.

  • Be able and willing to write multiple characters... Imagine simply our team, so two characters each and more if we get around to it.

  • This story -whatever we end up writing-, I want it to be clear that this is our story that we are writing, we're not beholden to the exact and strict rules of RWBY. Our characters are the main characters and this is their story. Our villains are the villains of the series.

  • Tell me no... I get carried away with my story writing, if an idea doesn't strike you as good, tell me and I'll either try to sell the idea better or say okay and come up with something else.

  • Okay... Romance is a thing, I do not like romance being the main thing in a story, nor do I like the story stopping to explore it. We can have romance... let's just write in a way that the whole story doesn't have to stop to explore it.

  • This is just a small thing from me... Naming conventions are fun and RWBY's naming is especially fun. It's a small thing that I think shows how creative people can be... so characters are named after colours in RWBY, let's keep that part of RWBY untouched... maybe improve upon it even. I find it fun to find names that suit the character, its a really a small thing that doesn't need to exist, but like Dragon Ball characters being named after food, it's just kinda fun to roll with the gimmick.

Here are a few prompts and ideas, or come with your own idea for a start.
Mauve Lotus

Mauve Lotus

The Mauve Lotus. A medicinal plant native to the caverns of Vacuo, the same caverns so many Vacuoians call home. Around Remnant, the plant is an illegal substance for the simple reason that so easily can it be made into a strong hallucinogenic and narcotic called blue lotus or a deadly poison called crimson shade. Mauve lotus is only legal in Vacuo, which hasn't stopped some greedy sorts from trying to export the substance, the crime family of Vacuo is of particular guilt of the "Lotus" crisis around Remnant, with their rebranding and corp of young huntsmen they've ensnared in their scheme. The huntsmen under the family is called Nightshade, in mockery of their school and the substance their given, a modified shade that can boost the aura of those who know how to use aura.

Vale of recent years has become home to a large presence of criminals from Nightshade as a shady benefactor has taken interest in expanding the sale of Mauve Lotus products in the city. It's yet a growing crisis that no one has tried to put a stop to yet and still yet may be only a front for something else as people disappear in the night...
Insurmountable
Insurmountable

Legends. The stories told since time immemorial. Since man could first speak, they recounted the heroics of heroes and the misdeeds of villains. So easily they forget just how small they are when these stories are told to them as children and as men and women who do these deeds deemed great and awful.

Stories of great heroes going up against the greatest enemy of man, the Creatures of Grimm, are countless but these stories as many as they are do not tell the whole tale. Did these great heroes stop the Creature of Grimm? Yes... but not wholly, not forever, for if there is one thing consistent about Man, it is how impermanent he is. The Creatures of Grimm do not fade as Man does. The Creatures of Grimm grow stronger with, cunning with, wiser with time. Man only fades.

Some Grimm are as old as the stories told about them, some are more ancient and remember the time when Man was an infant on this Remnant. Tales of Creatures so terribly old and awfully wise are few and far between. So awful in their power and mind, they no longer are bound to their instinct of destroying man, instead, they are sapient and they know much. One would hope these tales are untrue made up to scare children to bed... but they are there and they are not just tales. These Creatures have a simple name attached to them, one that is misused so often across the world. The Alpha.
I have characters too, if you want to check them out...

Name:
Ricin Castor
Named for the colour of the Castor plant flower, Ricinus communis. Which is a reddish-pink, I choose rouge as the colour to go with in general.

Species:
Human

Story:
Ricilynn Castor is an orphan from Vacuo, their parents were people who got caught in the middle of a conflict between crime families, a lot of people were caught between crime families the day Ricilynn's parents were killed. A lot of children were made orphans from a senseless slaughter from some crazed man of Vacuo. Hemlock Stein.

Ricilynn was too young to remember their parents, so aside from the hardship of growing up an orphan in Vacuo, Ricilynn Castor didn't care about the history of their family. Ricilynn grew up in an orphanage, a shabby, underfunded home for the kids with no parents, it really lacked any identity so it was up to the kids to make their own. It was that lack of identity that problem made Ricin into what they are today. You see, Ricinlynn was a smart kid, very smart in fact, they had this keen ability to take things apart and be able to put them back together flawlessly. It was just a quirk of the young kid, a quirk that would grow to become a passion and one that would cause trouble for the times they didn't put something back together. It was the kid's ability at taking and putting back together machines that caught the attention of what would be her best friends. Sola and Nico King, the two young twins and heirs of the King Mafia.

Ricilynn is a follower, at least that's what people would say of them if they looked from afar at her group. They don't really lead the groups they're in, it really does seem like they just follow what the others are doing. In Vacuo, it was the same thing, it really seemed like Ricilynn was just following their new friend's around and getting into trouble with them because they were friends and that's what friends do. They stick by each other. So Ricilynn got in deep with her friend's family, doing odd jobs for them, one would assume it because they're a kid and are just doing what people tell them to do, but no, Ricinlynn found it fun to learn how to pick a lock, or get into places with these new Atlas Drones and just take them apart and learn how to get around them... that is until they didn't find it fun. They stopped having fun when Sola took over and Nico disappeared into the wind somewhere.

Ricilynn doesn't talk about her time in Vacuo much, they only say that they were a trouble maker and now want to make up for all that. Up until they were sixteen or so, it was all just fun and games, until they were forced to face the facts of what their basically adopted family did. They were a Mafia and did bad things, more than stealing and reselling Scrolls or Firearms. For their lax ideas of what's good and bad, they do know that what the Kings started to do was bad and just bad. So they made up their mind and like Nico before, disappeared into the wind, eventually they would find themselves in Vale and trying out that entrance exam, entering in with their own pride and joy, the twin Revolvers, Poison and Toxin.

Weapons:
Poison and Toxin, their main weapon of choice for the genius tomboy. Poison and Toxin are twin revolvers that were made from scratch based on a blueprint made by Ricin themself. It's a design of the revolver to overcome the common weaknesses of the revolver concept, like lack of ammo and having to reload one bullet at a time. Poison and Toxin were made with a cylinder that is cheap to produce and could be discarded on the battlefield -not that they would ever discard something they made- and that can be quickly ejected out of the cylinder holder, to slap in another. The lack of ammo in the cylinder is a problem that is harder to deal with without getting ridiculously big with the sizes... but they managed to squeeze in 9 shots of the common 10mm... but better than that, they designed the guns to have a secondary fire system using specialized cylinders that are definitely not cheap to produce. The special cylinders are loaded and charged by dust to give them far more shots before having to reload. A total of twenty shots before reloading. That function is what makes Poison and Toxin their pride and joy, a completely novel concept. Using dust to shoot out bolts of elemental energy... plasma, instead of just shots of dust accelerated out of a barrel. The best part about it? It isn't as complicated as that Atlas tech they learned it from.

Semblance:
Ricin Castor's semblance is what she calls double-tap, putting it into simple terms, the hits from their guns or any weapon at all can hit twice. In their mind's eye, Ricin has always pictured it as two invisible arms that copy everything her dominate arms do, making copies of the weapons in Ricin's hands using it as if it were real. There may be some merit to her inner mind's observation too as the double-tap can miss sometimes, the zero on Ricin's double-tap guns isn't perfect and hits about two inches to the left when they're not paying attention.
Cactus Cactus

Name:
Cereus Cacta
Cactus Cactus

Species:
Human

Story:
Cereus Cacta came from a village outside the city of Vale. You needed to be hard out there, that's how you survived, there was no soldier or huntsmen ready on a dime to come to the rescue. Her village had some standard training for the kids there, just to make sure no one was helpless when a Creature of Grimm wandered into town, now that was usually taught in the way of, "Pick up your digging fork and poke them with the pointy end". Cereus was fortunate enough to be taught differently. She and her brother Makade Odishkodemi were taught by his father how to fight. Now Makade wasn't actually Cereus' brother, but they had been brought up together seeing as Makade's father Waabishkii was so often gone for long periods of time and so Makade was so often left in the Cacta household with Cereus and her family.

The Odishkodemi was a huntsmen family of Faunus with a very long name that was shortened to Odishkodemi... Cereus doesn't remember it all spelt out, but she knows the words that made up the name in the common language was, "Wolves with Fire in Their Hearts" and that Makade's whole name in common is, "The Black Wolf with a Fire in His Heart". That sounds so cool, Cereus asked if she could be an Odishkodemi once before... oh, off-topic. The Odishkodemi were the huntsmen that couldn't always be around, Waabishkii was the one huntsman for five different villages outside Vale, his family was larger but a lot of them got swept up in the whole White Fang thing in the Kingdoms, something that sounds odd for Cereus living out in at least her village where there was little difference between a human and a Faunus.

Waabishkii Odishkodemi had wanted to teach only his son how to fight, keep up the family legacy and all that, but enough begging and pleading with the Faunus man and eventually, with also his son begging him to, Cereus was allowed to come along too. Cereus was someone who took to fighting well, better than Makade actually, but then again, Makade was always a bit passive. Suppose it would be more accurate to say that Cereus was more reckless than Makade, but still, he story, her words. Makade was passive and always worrying about what could go wrong instead of what could go right. Like... it was only one cave, it didn't even have an Ursa in it.

Cereus took to fighting extremely well, as well as adopting something from her adopted brother's side of the family, that being their sense of adventure. Being taught how to fight as she does now, she couldn't stand how slow everything in her village was any time her mentor had to go protect the other five he watched over. Now, maybe it was that she was young and naive, not that by the time of the story start would she be old, but at that time, she was young and wanting adventure. Adventure... such as taking off to an academy in the big city with her brother Makade. It didn't work... they didn't reach Vale before their mentor caught up and dragged her and Makade back to the village by the ears. Suppose that would have never worked, she didn't exactly know how far Vale was, just that if she followed that road long enough, she'd probably get there. So instead of trying that again and knowing it would fail again, she went back those few years and begged and pleaded to be let to go be a huntress. It looks so cool.

Eventually, just as it always worked out before, she got what she wanted... kinda. It would turn out that Makade wouldn't be going with her, because Waabishkii didn't want him too far from himself. But other than that, Cereus got what she wanted, a boarding house took her in for the few years at Signal before she would get to Beacon. Signal was weird... well no, Vale is weird. It was difficult getting her head around not knowing everyone in a town. But she got it eventually, after a bit of having to shut up some punks teasing her about her country accent and getting the label, "Hardass", she got it. She was well on her way to Beacon and then being a Huntress.

Weapon(s):
"The less moving parts, the less I have to fix it."

Cereus learned how to fight before Signal, however, her style was more traditional and only ever used against her brother when they sparred. Both she and her brother learned their martial art from her brother's father, it was a style that was made to keep up the pressure and not allow the opponent to get breathing room.

Her weapons are called Bakite'an or translated simply, Hitters. A pair of gloves and boots with metal weights at the fists and shins. It was the most simple way she could think of to make her chosen style viable in a not strictly martial arts setting. However, for all the simplicity she wanted in her weapon, she was forced to add more to it than gloves and boots with weights, so she added a way to add dust cartridges seeing as she learned how to use raw dust from her mentor.

Semblance:
Thorn; Cereus' semblance reflects back damage to her opponent, only within a radius of around 2 meters.

Name:
Huihuitoca Ocelotl
Hui (Hway) for short.
The name is Nahuatl for Earthquake (Huihuitoca) and Jaguar (Ocelotl).
His colours are the same as a jaguar.

Species:
Faunus - Jaguar

Story:
Strongest bite for their size. Huihuitoca is from the Ocelotl family, a family that has made a name for being rowdy and numerous in Vale. Hui belongs to the rowdy crowd of his family, since he was just a kitten in the litter of all his brothers and sisters he's been making trouble. He is the shortest of all his brothers and sisters when they were at his age and as it's going, he's going to remain the shortest when his little brothers and sisters reach the same age, that hasn't stopped Hui from causing trouble for all his seniors who've tried to make fun of his size.

For all the trouble Hui has caused in his life, as a kid and a student, he's someone who's always wanted to be a huntsman. He likes to hear the stories of all those awesome feats of heroism, being the real deal of superheroes and comics. It was an epic sight to behold when he snuck off to go watch the technically illegal ring fights between huntsmen and huntresses. Now Hui, for all his trying was always blocked from pursuing what he wanted to be for the simple reason that his parents didn't think he'd make it as a huntsman. "We're too rowdy to be hunts anything hun", his mother told him when he said he wanted to go to Signal.

Honestly... Getting to Beacon now. Looking back. His family were all hypocrites. He was told then that he was too rowdy, they were all too rowdy to be hunts anything, but then they weren't too rowdy to go out on a riot or some strong-arming and general vigilantism... bad vigilantism for the White Fang. For how rowdy and fight-prone Hui was, he always had this feeling of dirt whenever he heard about what the White Fang did. Really, what his family did and what he did too. There's a difference between fighting to protect yourself and fighting just for yourself. Causing fear, that's a dirty feeling. Getting into a fight because someone was an arsehole, that wasn't so dirty. Thin line... but it was a clear one for Hui. He wasn't going to keep at the shit his family did just because they were family. All we got is family, didn't hold up when the family was only causing harm to everyone. Made things better for them? Nah, it just left a bad taste in Hui's mouth. No, if he was going to aim his pent-up Ocelotl anger anywhere, it wasn't going to be for random violence in hopes people treat them better, it was going to be aimed at the arseholes and monsters of the world.

Weapon(s):
Iiziti or Claw was Hui's weapon, something he made with his own two hands. He could have bought a weapon, which was an option open to him, but he didn't want anything that anyone else had. He wanted better, he always wanted better. No one can make anything better than he could, at least not better in his hands. It was an obvious choice what kind of weapon he wanted, a macuahuitl, the same his mother used. As simple to use as a club but with the ability to go as subtle and elegant as any other blade.

Iiziti is a transforming macuahuitl, going between the blade version and a shotgun. His choice of making Iiziti a shotgun over any other kind of firearm was because Huey wanted the interchangeability of rounds. Shotgun shells came in a wide variety, maybe he couldn't make his weapon the most precise weapon on his team, but he could at least get a decent range out of it with certain slugs.

Semblance:
Hui's semblance is called slip. He calls it that because put simply, he slips out of attacks. It's an instinctual thing for Hui, when a hit that he thinks at his core is going to kill him, the semblance activates to slip past it. The attack goes right through him instead of hitting him. It's a fickle thing that he can't turn on at will, as his training continues, instead of coming better under control, it seems to instead happen less. His semblance is fading with the more strength he gets.

Name:
Nibikwe Odishkodemi
Water has Fire Inside
Nib-ee-kway Oh-dish-koe-demi

She prefers just Nibi.

Species:
Faunus

Story:
Family politics... that's the game when it comes to the Faunus of Vale. Small town family politics. No family is as beholden to tradition as the Ma'iingan, one need not look further than how everyone is named. Oshki-Nibikwe-Ma'iinganiwi-ode'Odishkodemi, Nibi's whole name which when translated properly says, "Young Water Wolf with a Fire in Her Heart" and what it says for the family is that she's at least three times removed from the main Ma'iingan family, because her great grandmother was Ma'iingan-Ode'Odishkodemi, "Wolf with a Fire in Her Heart". People called her Ogiin, just mom or her siblings called her Odish.

Nibikwe Odishkodemi was born in a time that really the world of Faunus was experiencing trouble. The White Fang movement changing, peaceful protests became violent mobs and riots and things were supposed to get better for the Faunus... it worked, if you were anywhere but Vale. The Faunus culture in Vale was ran as if Vale was a small town, what mattered was the family, the family determined what happened where. So where the White Fang movement worked elsewhere, when it came to Vale it worked for a time before families started to disagree with each other. Ma'iingans wanted temperance, violence only if necessary, Ocelotls knew the tactic and knew what needed to be done, the greatest tool was random violence. The families butted heads and the White Fang in Vale fractured and things went back to exactly where it was before the White Fang, in the hands of the families.

Nibi found everything to be so damn petty in Vale. She found that when she had friends, it was only for a time because eventually family dynamics changed and then what were her friends weren't allowed to be her friends anymore. Not that she was so high and mighty as to change it herself, she was apart of it to, where most of the time the problems came from the adults disagreeing. Sometimes it came from when Nibikwe got in a fight at the playground, given how her family taught her, the fights were always in her favour and she won... badly. Odishkodemi in the Ma'iingan family made a name for themselves for being fighters, brawlers and short-tempered arseholes, really, they were little different than the family rival Ocelotls. They were the ones who did things when needed. No one bites a Ma'iingan without being bit harder.

All that said... Odishkodemi had the reputation of being the fighters, yes, but of all the families in Vale, no family so often became Huntsmen. It was tradition, one three of the Odishkodemi were Huntsmen, Nibi planned on being the last of her family to be a huntsman. It was her generation that would determine the new name after all. Odishkodemi wasn't a huntswoman, it wasn't a technical title back then, she was a fighter and hunter who made the name for herself of being that. Ma'iingan woman before her didn't fight with the men, she proved all of them wrong by being more ferocious than any of the men. Nibi was determined to be even better, if the Odishkodemi name ended in her generation, then the Nibikwe name would carry on the legacy, seeing as she was the only girl of her generation, that was looking to be the case.

Weapons:
Zaka'an, Light it Aflame. A weapon meticulously designed to suit Nibi's lightning-fast strikes, her hit and run tactic. A gunstock club is what Zaka'an was based on, a lightweight club that happened to look like a gunstock, except now it actually a gun and a club. Through the advancement of dust technology and a lot of trial and error on Nibi's part, she created a weapon that can be switched between a gun and a club, easy in thought, hard in practice due to the small problem of the gunstock club being held by the barrel.

She had to make sure she wouldn't end up shooting herself whenever she held it as a club... so she had to make it so she couldn't use traditional bullets in Zaka'an's gun form. She had to design a special cartridge of dust that could be used in the "bolt" mechanism of the barrel, making the energy from he dust into a bolt of plasma, while also allowing the use of dust in the club mode. It's harder than one might think. An easier solution would have been to discharge the cartridge of dust from the barrel and switch it over to another mechanism for use in the club, that would've solved the issue with the trade-off of being slow to cycle between the functions, but Nibi was determined to make it work and eventually she made it work. Zaka'an Mk-X was the model that worked, ten times, almost the same amount of time as her time at Signal itself.

Semblance:
She doesn't know what it is yet.

Sure, just send me a message with what you want. If you have you're own ideas or what struck you of mine.

If you want to get people hyped up to play it then you shouldn't keep saying that it's not good

This sounds like fun, I wouldn't mind an RP of this if you are still looking
Sure, just shoot me a message about what struck you about this or an idea you had.

Maybe, but this is just how I watch RWBY now. Curbing my expectations, if I go into new volumes without high hopes I don't get disappointed and just enjoy what's there. I used to get excited about RWBY, volume's 1-3 are still hype and even leave off on a high note... well actually a low note, either way, it was great and I was excited about the rest. But volume 4 was a dud and volume 5 too, so I started to curb my expectations for the series. When you go into a show expecting it to be meh, you don't get disappointed when it is.

Hello There! I see I fit your requirement -aside from character with color names, that can easily be fixed-

Just like you, RWBY got me into writing, it became a passion of mine starting on amino, and I've been fixated on making character after character, storyline after storyline, AU after AU, any everything in between.
I love it so much and have been doing it for.... about 5-6-7 years, and I really wanna see where this group of character could go, though, just a word of caution, my characters are just straight up misfits and have uhm... some issues

Very minor edit... as well as I wanted to say I've just noticed that almost all my characters are female. That was not on purpose, it just happened that way.

Just a small edit to give me a reason more than just bumping it, because I am so awkward that I need a reason for saying that yes I am still looking for a RWBY RP.
