From the second that her husband had announced the ball that was soon to take place, Drusilla had known it was a bad idea. Now, she was never one to overestimate her intelligence---that was a trivial mistake, made only by truly dim individuals who wished for their fall from high society to be swift and brutal---but it didn't quite take a genius to realize why bringing the three largest gangs in Euclid, along with the uprising faction of humans, to a party under one roof was a poorly thought-out idea. Surely, with the topic of conversation at the simultaneous Leader's Meeting bringing the financial business of the humans into the light, it was inevitable that some kind of altercation would occur, not to mention the current rivalry between her coven and the werewolf clan.

Nevertheless, Drusilla went along with the new plans. She was not one to needlessly provoke her husband's temper, even if she believed that the humans and their infuriating leader could be squashed as easily as a bug beneath her heels. That would settle the whole affair, wouldn't it? Regardless of her thoughts, Drusilla now had more important matters to attend to; making sure she wasn't an embarrassment to her coven, at a ball hosted by Helias, nonetheless.

That is where Drusilla found herself mere hours before the beginnings of the “celebration”. Her hair was already pulled up into an elaborate twist, curling strands meant to frame her face were pulled back gently by a plain white headband. Drusilla applied her makeup the same way that she approached her duties as the esteemed wife of the most intricate gang in the city: with unrelenting intent. She needed to dress her best in order to save face were for events at tonight's ball to go awry. Finishing up with the faint powder that dusted her face, Drusilla released her hair, letting it fall back into its proper place. She dressed quickly and glanced in the mirror. Her dignified floor-length dress was a season or two out of style, but it would do for an event such as this. ‘We don't want the dogs and slaves to be getting an idea that we think this function is of too much importance, after all,’ Drusilla thought to herself, slipping on her heels and grabbing her clutch on the way out of her bathroom.

She didn't see her husband for the entire way to the foyer, and, after waiting around for some time, Drusilla decided that he had already left, or that it would be redundant to wait for him, considering that he was perfectly capable of calling one of the slaves to drive him. After grabbing her gold lace mask from the hallway hat stand, Drusilla made her way out to where the chauffeur was waiting outside of the Escalade. He opened the door for her and shut it once she had gotten in.

Once the flashes past her window began blurring from the bright city lights of the North to the calmer, forested areas of the East, Drusilla knew that they were close. She hadn’t personally even been to the Helias Estate; why would she even need to? Regardless, the scenery was certainly a change from what she was used to. When Drusilla made her way up to the doors, the two guardsmen let her in without complaint, and she walked into the house.

Drusilla was by no means comfortable in this strange building, but, in her mind, it was always best to put up a front of nonchalance in situations such as these; who even knew who could be watching her from afar. As she entered the main ballroom, she grabbed a flute of champagne from a wandering server and began to survey the current guests of the festival.

It appeared that Lady Aurelia held similar feelings in not wanting to leave the garden so soon since she whispered out an odd question that required the young servant to think deep. This was a topic that he was aware of, not that Lady Fletcher herself ever discussed it with him, rather he received information from conversations she had with fellow peers. Whenever she would have a friend of hers over for lunch, she would always make sure that Ezekiel was the one to serve them. Truthfully this would always make some of the maids and servants envious of Ezekiel and even curious as to how he had won much favor from her. Ezekiel himself wanted to know why, but he never did find the courage to ask her despite the many chances he had.

As to why Lady Aurelia would ask a personal question concerning the late Lady Fletcher, Ezekiel could only imagine that she was worried of the future for the wondrous place they currently stood in.

"No one knows for certain what the main reason was for Lady Fletcher not to have children," Ezekiel started off his answer, ready to continue by including his own explanation, but that would mean adding an opinion of his. Which was a quality taught to servants not to do. It is discouraged to try and speak your mind. The only person in the manor who ever did ask for one was none other than Lady Fletcher. But since the person he was answering to was Lady Aurelia, Ezekiel resorted back to the appropriate manner in which he should speak to a guest, formally and directly answering their question.

His eyes continued to watch the young lady before him. Despite Lady Aurelia not having a true blood connection to Lady Fletcher, Ezekiel felt that they held similar features. Perhaps it was all in their demeanor that Lady Aurelia resembled Lady Fletcher so much. His heart seemed to agree as well since it continued to ache softly. The length that his eyes lingered on Lady Aurelia caused the young servant's attention to quickly avert away from him. Ezekiel didn't want to cause her discomfort and he certainly did not want to distort her first impression of him. Which all these thoughts were foreign to the young man. Why was he worrying so much about receiving the approval of this young lady here? None of the previous guests ever caused him to worry so much. But then again, none of the other guests have ever caught his eye.

Ezekiel heard the gratitude from Lady Aurelia, but still did not to her direction. It was then he felt her presence disappear from his side that his eyes followed the limber figure. At the same time he turned to look at her, she had looked up from where she sat. That moment of sync caused a slight shiver to crawl down Ezekiel's spine. This was probably the first time that she was actually looking at him, and he certainly did not know how to feel to be in the eyes of another. At least someone who stood above him in the societal hierarchy.

His feelings continued to fall further into confusion as he listened to her words. And even a slight blush presented itself onto his face upon the smile that Lady Aurelia showed him. For a well-built servant, he was becoming quite flustered. He was trying to think of the appropriate actions to take for the situation, but he had never venture into one like this. It was true in what Lady Aurelia said about their ages. From appearances they weren't too far apart. So with that first part it caused difficulties for Ezekiel to come up with a response since all the other aristocrats he assisted were far older than him.

Since his mind was taking too much time thinking on how to approach the young lady, his heart decided to take control, "I-um...I am Ezekiel, Lady Aure-I mean L-L-Lia. It is a pleasure to meet you." He dipped his upper half down into a habitual bow, but also did it to mask his embarrassment. But after a moment of silence passed Aurelia spoke up again, this time speaking of a story.

He lifted his head up and saw the moon bathing the young lady in her own spotlight. The distance her eyes looked off into as she retold a learned story drew Ezekiel's attention more to the fine details of her appearance. At the very moment she appeared like a lost goddess, wandering to find a place to call her own and all the while spreading stories through gentle lips. Of course the content in which she spoke further enhanced her aura. But then she ended it with an apology. From a goddess to a human. Ezekiel did not know how he should be perceiving this young lady. One thing he did know to do was to ensure that she did not feel the responsible for dampening the mood.

"With love, there will always be sadness. There is no need for an apology for the truth," seeing as how they have moved past informal introductions, Ezekiel decided to try something new. He spoke out his own perspective, "But I believe that remembering the warmth and pureness of love is what drives us to continue pursuing it, despite the pain that may come. I remember one of the last things that Lady Fletcher quoted to me...I breathe my heart in the heart of the rose, the rose I pluck, and send you." Ezekiel had rested his eyes on the very rose that he brought to Aurelia as he recited the quote. "That line was said by Alfred Austin, but it was a favorite of Lady Fletcher's," the young boy had to pause for a moment to recollect his emotions before he continued on, "And with those words I look out onto the garden and feel as though a piece of heart is in every bud and in every flower. Referring back to your earlier question, I say that she may not have children to live on her memories, but with every flower that grows her lies a part of her."

This was the first time Ezekiel had ever said anything so heartfelt. So much so that he had to take a few deep breaths in order to control himself.

Aurelia's eyes returned to Ezekiel as she exposed her condition. His lips turned into a small frown as he began noting some features that many would associate with illnesses. But with the moonlight radiating her aura, it softened the harsh reality. He then noted her question, or rather her permission. "As a servant of the Fletcher Manor it is my responsibility to fulfill my duties, and working in this garden is one of them. And as a guest of the manor you are free to enter any un-restricted areas,"
Ezekiel smiled, assuming that his formal answer would bother Aurelia slightly.

The young man was never a believer of fate, but now he began to feel a slightly inkling of belief inside of him. Ezekiel knew that if Lady Fletcher was still around she would have definitely labeled this encounter as a play of fate. After all, Aurelia seemed to be an exception to the masses.

As to why Lady Aurelia would ask a personal question concerning the late Lady Fletcher, Ezekiel could only imagine that she was worried of the future for the wondrous place they currently stood in.

"No one knows for certain what the main reason was for Lady Fletcher not to have children," Ezekiel started off his answer, ready to continue by including his own explanation, but that would mean adding an opinion of his. Which was a quality taught to servants not to do. It is discouraged to try and speak your mind. The only person in the manor who ever did ask for one was none other than Lady Fletcher. But since the person he was answering to was Lady Aurelia, Ezekiel resorted back to the appropriate manner in which he should speak to a guest, formally and directly answering their question.

His eyes continued to watch the young lady before him. Despite Lady Aurelia not having a true blood connection to Lady Fletcher, Ezekiel felt that they held similar features. Perhaps it was all in their demeanor that Lady Aurelia resembled Lady Fletcher so much. His heart seemed to agree as well since it continued to ache softly. The length that his eyes lingered on Lady Aurelia caused the young servant's attention to quickly avert away from him. Ezekiel didn't want to cause her discomfort and he certainly did not want to distort her first impression of him. Which all these thoughts were foreign to the young man. Why was he worrying so much about receiving the approval of this young lady here? None of the previous guests ever caused him to worry so much. But then again, none of the other guests have ever caught his eye.

Ezekiel heard the gratitude from Lady Aurelia, but still did not to her direction. It was then he felt her presence disappear from his side that his eyes followed the limber figure. At the same time he turned to look at her, she had looked up from where she sat. That moment of sync caused a slight shiver to crawl down Ezekiel's spine. This was probably the first time that she was actually looking at him, and he certainly did not know how to feel to be in the eyes of another. At least someone who stood above him in the societal hierarchy.

His feelings continued to fall further into confusion as he listened to her words. And even a slight blush presented itself onto his face upon the smile that Lady Aurelia showed him. For a well-built servant, he was becoming quite flustered. He was trying to think of the appropriate actions to take for the situation, but he had never venture into one like this. It was true in what Lady Aurelia said about their ages. From appearances they weren't too far apart. So with that first part it caused difficulties for Ezekiel to come up with a response since all the other aristocrats he assisted were far older than him.

Since his mind was taking too much time thinking on how to approach the young lady, his heart decided to take control, "I-um...I am Ezekiel, Lady Aure-I mean L-L-Lia. It is a pleasure to meet you." He dipped his upper half down into a habitual bow, but also did it to mask his embarrassment. But after a moment of silence passed Aurelia spoke up again, this time speaking of a story.

He lifted his head up and saw the moon bathing the young lady in her own spotlight. The distance her eyes looked off into as she retold a learned story drew Ezekiel's attention more to the fine details of her appearance. At the very moment she appeared like a lost goddess, wandering to find a place to call her own and all the while spreading stories through gentle lips. Of course the content in which she spoke further enhanced her aura. But then she ended it with an apology. From a goddess to a human. Ezekiel did not know how he should be perceiving this young lady. One thing he did know to do was to ensure that she did not feel the responsible for dampening the mood.

"With love, there will always be sadness. There is no need for an apology for the truth," seeing as how they have moved past informal introductions, Ezekiel decided to try something new. He spoke out his own perspective, "But I believe that remembering the warmth and pureness of love is what drives us to continue pursuing it, despite the pain that may come. I remember one of the last things that Lady Fletcher quoted to me...I breathe my heart in the heart of the rose, the rose I pluck, and send you." Ezekiel had rested his eyes on the very rose that he brought to Aurelia as he recited the quote. "That line was said by Alfred Austin, but it was a favorite of Lady Fletcher's," the young boy had to pause for a moment to recollect his emotions before he continued on, "And with those words I look out onto the garden and feel as though a piece of heart is in every bud and in every flower. Referring back to your earlier question, I say that she may not have children to live on her memories, but with every flower that grows her lies a part of her."

This was the first time Ezekiel had ever said anything so heartfelt. So much so that he had to take a few deep breaths in order to control himself.

Aurelia's eyes returned to Ezekiel as she exposed her condition. His lips turned into a small frown as he began noting some features that many would associate with illnesses. But with the moonlight radiating her aura, it softened the harsh reality. He then noted her question, or rather her permission. "As a servant of the Fletcher Manor it is my responsibility to fulfill my duties, and working in this garden is one of them. And as a guest of the manor you are free to enter any un-restricted areas,"
Ezekiel smiled, assuming that his formal answer would bother Aurelia slightly.

The young man was never a believer of fate, but now he began to feel a slightly inkling of belief inside of him. Ezekiel knew that if Lady Fletcher was still around she would have definitely labeled this encounter as a play of fate. After all, Aurelia seemed to be an exception to the masses.
