Rumors, Tales and Myths

WELCOME TO MY PROSE COMPILATION THREAD!

Before you start, please read all the information in this block.

As many of you will have or have not expected, I am an experienced roleplayer in the fantasy genre. Thus, most of my ideas shall fall under that field. However, there will be several occasions wherein I would make stories of other genres and try to make it work, despite my lack of skills. Also, I've also failed a lot of times(and still failing) trying to write on the eyes of a female character, so forgive me if my male-only characters would cause you any discomfort.

Posts here would range from short stories, up to long, novel-like ones which would come in volumes(probably). Many of the stories here would be set on a world where magic and technology co-exist, which I am still trying to build slowly, piece by piece. Updates here would be in an irregular manner, for I am currently having issues with my schedules so, until everything out there in the real world is good, then expect me to seldom post here.

I would also appreciate your feedback in any of the stories you've read(or plan to read), so don't be afraid to speak your opinions. If you feel that something's off, or needs work, then by all means, please tell me immediately. I will not take offense from any of your criticism, after all, this is for the betterment of one's writing skills.

Oh, and also, to give out some information(valuable or not), and clarity, a certain format will be used in the posts I will be doing here.

Obviously a modified copy-pasterino of my 1x1 thread.

Now, let the tale-telling, rumor-spreading, mythbusting-narrating begin!

Hurray.

If you're from Tales of the Rising Phoenix, you're better off not reading this. This might contain some spoiler for the ending. But then again, everything can be altered to my liking.

Genre: Fantasy

Type: Short Story

Setting: Verattia (WIP Fantasy-Tech World)

The Resistance Emerges

An average-sized room was brightly lit up by a number of lamps, with several banners hanging from the walls. Some torn, and some dusty, these decors came from different origins and were made of different kinds of materials. With the light striking these, a grand view of a beautiful spectrum can be seen by those inside the room.

In the middle of the room was a wooden table, surrounded by four seats, made of the same material. Atop the table were several papers and quills, a small dagger, and a little lamp that ensured a clear sight on them. On the seats, three figures sat, leaving one empty.

To the right was a tall, short-haired man, who donned a steel armor, full of scratches. His brown eyes seemed to fixate at a certain object on the table, whilst thinking.

To the left was an elf, with his long, white hair tied back. He wore something that would seem to be of noble origins, garments of fine silk. He constantly toyed with a quill, as his jade pupils looked from the people in the room.

To the south, facing backwards towards the door, was a short-haired woman. She wore a chain vest, and her left arm was covered in bandages. Covering her chair was a leather cloak. Her blue eyes gazed upon the lamp, as its flame flickered every now and then.

These three beings were in silence, until a rhythmic knocking was heard at the door.

"Come in.", the woman said, thus, making the knocking stop.

The door opened without a sound, as a young lass entered the room. Dressed in silk clothing, this long, purple-haired girl seemed to move with grace. In her right hand, was a piece of folded paper, but seemed to be important due to some embellishments it possessed. She walked towards the table, stopping only at a few inches distance, behind the woman.

"I bring a message from Lord Rydian.", she said in a soft voice.

"Continue.", the elf said.

She nodded towards him, and went on with her approach. Soon, she was just before the table, in between the woman and the elf. With a steady hand, she placed the paper on the table. She, then, moved backwards, returning to her former spot, behind the woman.

The elf stopped playing with his quill, and took the paper. He unfolded it and began to read it silently. After a short moment, he dropped it onto the table gently, then stared at the short-haired woman, saying, "Lena."

"What is it Khalil?", she replied.

"You have to see this.", the elf said.

A chuckle came from the armored man, which was immediately stopped by Lena hammering the table with her fist.

"I'll make sure you'd regret that once my eyes have recovered.", she said in an annoyed tone.

"My apologies.", Khalil said, trying to hold back his laughter. "I'll read it out loud for you.", he continued. Lena grunted as a response to his mockery. The armored man gestured Khalil to go on, and he nodded back, as he began to speak.

"So, here is what it says.", the elf said.

"To Lena, Khalil, Avent, and the rest of the New Legion, our time to act has come. The illusions of Brand LeBlanc has been shattered, and now, the Undiscovered Lands are no more. The Scarlet Scourge did what they can, taking a few residents of the lands along with them. I have no information of where they are heading to, but as far as I know, they are far away now.

The Rising Phoenix Guild had been successful with their initial plans. Yislone is now theirs, and they have become the Empire of the Risen Phoenix. By now, I believe they are preparing to continue with what they have planned.

We must prepare for what's to come. The guildmaster or The Phoenix Emperor, as he calls himself, is much more powerful than we expected. They will soon strike other lands. We must not let that happen. By our oath to the Legion, we must be able to prevent their malevolent plans. I will try my best to sneakily leave Yislone and return to you. Until then you know what to do.

And should I fail to return, contact Levi, he should have thought of something by then. That is all.

P.S. Tell Camille not to worry. I don't plan on dying, and leaving her alone.

For the Legion, Rydian Wavrhn."

A short moment of silence filled the room as Khalil finished reading the message. The atmosphere began to be tense. This dead air was broken by the armored man as he spoke.

"Do not worry. I know Rydian, he won't fall so easily. A man who's slain a wyvern is a tough man. Besides, he knows what he's doing, so let's just do what we must do.", Avent said.

"Agreed. What do you say, Lena? You're the one in command here.", Khalil replied.

With a heavy breath, Lena responded to the two. "We have sworn to the Legion, and we must keep our word. It is time to fend off the flames. It is time to put out the fire. For Verattia, and for the Legion.", she said.

She, then, turned to faced the girl behind her. She slowly tried to look at her and said, "You heard the word, Iyana. Tell the others that we are to prepare for the blazing obstacle that is to come."

The girl nodded, speaking in a soft voice, "As you command, Lady Lena." The girls then left the room silently, leaving the three behind.

As soon as Iyana was gone, Khalil spoke. "Eh, I'm not moved by your speech. Gotta do some work on that, Lena.", he said in a mocking tone.

"I'll make you know what pain is when I can see well again.", Lena replied.

"You two are really suited for each other.", Avent said as laughed at the two.

"You'll be suffering the same fate.", Lena replied in an annoyed tone.
