What is a Royal Flush?

A Royal Flush is the highest ranking standard poker hand a player can attain. The cards are of the same suit and are in sequence of 10, Jack, Queen, King, and finally Ace. I've decided to host a little game and you're all invited to play! You are each given a card at random. Whatever card you get you then have a 'gift' associated with that card's face and suit. The five cards will be the aforementioned royal flush set of 10's, J's, Q's, K's, and A's. Now each card, holds a special gift for you upon receiving it. I get giddy just thinking about them. Allow me to explain in further detail about each card and suit.

The Faces:

10: Tens are masters of their bodies, able to push themselves to the physical limit and beyond. What Tens lack in range they more than make up for it by being able to move in fast, strike hard, and take a beating. I would call them muscle brains, but that would offend the ones that actually are muscle brains.

Jack: One of my favorite cards, the Jacks are the unsung heroes. Using their cunning and quick wit, Jacks are master illusionists able to outsmart their way out of any situation with just a pinch of luck. The carefree tricksters of my little game. Don't blink, you may just miss them.

Queen: Ah the lovely Queens, the epitome of mystical power. Queens are deadly weavers of magic. They need some time to cast their more powerful spell however, but they can handle themselves well at almost any range. Hell hath no fury like a queen ignored. Or is that scorned? I can never remember.

Kings: The mighty Kings are never left alone. Instead they fight with the help of a guardian that they manifest called a Royal Guard. Royal guards serve as a proxi for the King and the King simply orders the guard to do their bidding. The royal guards abilities and appearance depends on the king themselves as well as the suit they belong to. Once the guard is gone however the King is practically defenseless. A King without a knight is a dead one I suppose.

Ace: The enigmatic Aces are weapons masters. They can pick up just about anything and use it as a weapon. Aces are attuned to a particular weapon of their choice. This weapon can then be summoned at anytime with a simple command word, phrase, or motion. Aces are capable of having multiple weapons attuned to them, but they can only summon two at any given time, one for each hand. Aces are capable of using their attuned weapons as 'suit focuses'. Like any good gambler, they always have an Ace up their sleeves.

The Suits:

Spades: The spade is the sword, the flame, courage, willpower, and strength. Those under the sign of the spade are said to show these qualities. Willpower is like a candle. Over time, the flame will die down and all you're left with is bravado. Spades have the ability to manipulate the essence of fire. Tens can harness their inner flame to bolster their strength or envelop parts of their body in flame. Jacks use fire's heat and explosive properties to deceive their foes. Queens weave fire like a living weapon, incinerating all that stand before them. Kings royal guards typically are in reptilian shaped armor, resemble reptiles, or are beings of fire enclosed within a suit of armor. Their weapons are conjurations of fire and typically are swords, but can change based on the king's will. Ace's can temper their attuned weapons with fire to perform various functions. Cloaking it in fire to burn their foes, focusing the flame to increase the weapon's cutting power, causing the weapon to explode on impact, etc.

Hearts: Hearts symbolize love, emotions, imagination, an the subconscious. Those within the heart's embrace have dominion over water and it's various forms. Hearts are said to be quite the artists thanks to their inherit imagination, but all artists are overly emotional in my opinion. Tens can use the calming factor of water to focus their minds to help them see things more clearly or encase themselves in ice for added protection and strength. Jacks can use water's properties to do a variety of tricks. From simple mist cover to ice body replacement, a jack is never without options. Queens will find water a versatile element at their disposal. Able to change not only the shape of water, but also it's state of matter to suit their needs. King's royal guards wear armor that resemble aquatic life, are actually aquatic life, or are beings of pure water. Their ability to shape any armament makes them as unpredictable as the imagination that conjured them. Ace's can use their attuned weapon as a focus for their water manipulation abilities. They can turn their weapon into an entirely different one, among other things, provided they have enough water to do so.

Clubs: Clubs funnily enough represent the mind, speech, and words. Those who move under the club's guidance will find themselves an ally within the wind. I did always say words are power, but I could never learn to keep my mouth shut. Tens can speak a power word to harness the wind to grant them a boost in speed, make them lighter to jump higher, or focus the wind into a ranged strike. Jacks of clubs are extremely elusive. With a single word they can become as light as a feather and just drift away. They can mimic and project sounds to disorient their enemies. They can even cloak themselves in a thin layer of wind that circles around them to subtly push attacks away from them. Queens can summon mighty tempests given enough time for the incantation. Simpler attacks such as focused air blasts and amplified screams require smaller incantations to a single word. Kings royal guards appear to have avian features in their armor, are avian in appearance, or are beings of pure wind. They focus primarily on sound based attacks, but the kings can choose to use gusts of wind to cut or push foes away. Aces can speak a power word to imbue their attuned weapons with the wind to increase its cutting power, range, or speed.

Diamonds: Diamonds as you might have guessed signify wealth and matter. What did you expect? Diamonds were made for royals. Oh would you look at that, you're a royal... Weird how that works out huh? Those under the shining diamond will realize that the earth does in fact revolve around you. Tens will find themselves able to harden their body at the cost of their speed or can assume the same properties of materials they come in contact with. Tens under the diamond even have the special ability to sense vibrations within the ground around them. Jacks will be able to burrow underground and camouflage themselves to remain undetected. Queens must always remain attached to the earth before they can manipulate it, but that doesn't stop them from crushing their foes with the might under their feet. Diamond king royal guards are the heaviest and largest of the suits. Their armor tend to resemble large beasts like lions or bears, but they also appear to be constructs of pure stone or living suits of armor. Diamond royal guards have the unique ability to grow in size increasing its power and reach in exchange for speed. Aces are capable of using their attuned weapon as a focus to move the earth with the motion of their swings. Aces are also able to conjure replicas of their attuned weapon to thrust out of the earth around them.

My name is Decker. I am the dealer of this lovely card game. I will be providing you locations and times where you will then fight for our amusement. I'm looking for the perfect Royal Flush. Now that may sound weird seeing as a royal flush has to be of the same suit. No, the kind of royal flush I'm looking for is far better diverse than the same suit. I guess at that point I'm looking for a Royal Straight. Nope it's not an actual hand, but Royal makes everything better.

It's still a little rough which is why I'm looking for feedback on what you think of it so far. I did some research on the card symbols and found out quite a bit on their history and symbolism. I tried to bring that into this roleplay and see how it would run as a whimsy competition by some faceless figure who simply goes by the name Decker. I haven't worked out the details of the competition. I mainly focused on fleshing out the different cards and effects. I was inspired by Highschool DxD but instead of using chess pieces, I went with cards. Also I've been rewatching a lot of DC Universe and I just love the Royal Flush Gang, which is where the name of the roleplay stems from. I need a more concrete reason to hold this competition other than 'it's fun' for Decker.
