Roseblack story

If you remember roseblack from the first part of the dragon blooded book, I am wondering if any of the books continue her story. It seems to me you would have a very good candidate for a new empress... any ideas?

The first time we see her is in the BWB, kicking pirate ass. Then, in the DB book, we see her relaxing after said ass-kicking, musing on the warning that the Realm plans to kill her and disperse her legion, and deciding to go off and do whatever she likes. Then later in the DB book, we get a little story about an assassin, at the end of which she reveals it was she who tipped RB off. There's also a bit about her grandad, who has become a drunken old monk hermit as a form of protest.

Dunno what happens to her beyond that, though there is a picture of her holding a glass of wine somewhere.

She's also one of the characters in Aspect Book: Wood, although I don't remember it advancing the 'plot' - Just filling in background.

no, not at all - in fact, in a campaign I'm running at the moment, the Roseblack is about to be acclaimed as Empress by the Vermillion Legion. Long, long tradition of military leaders on the frontier facing punishment back in the capital deciding to make an end-run around the system and just declare themselves ruler.

Plus, in Aspect Book Wood, Tepet Arada makes some comments that indicate he thinks she's going to try a coup. Or at least that's how I interpreted them.

The Roseblack would be in a relatively strong position, as she commands what is easily the best of the remaining full legions. She would need to move quickly to secure the support of the Water Fleet - legions are no good if they're stuck on islands - but if she could pull that off, she'd have a chance. Ideally, she'd feel out senior members of some of the smaller houses to put together a coalition of support, and possibly seed the other satrapies in the West with her followers so that she had a chance of seizing the other islands as a tax base before she announced her ambitions.

An immediate invasion of the Isle probably wouldn't work just yet, but her announcement might well start a broader civil war and open the floodgates of other Dynasts declaring themselves Emperor/Empress, at which point her opposition is non-monolithic enough to make an invasion likely to succeed.

That'd be how I'd run her actions in trying to become Empress, anyway.

Wow, great insight there. I was just taken by the story that the core db book seemed to put around her in terms of making a run at it. I have to wonder though, just as she succeeds in terms of becoming empress if the ole' scarlet lady wouldn't show up. Could make for an interesting plot twist.

Well, in Aspect Book Earth we find out that Mnemon does *not* have ambitions on the throne for exactly that reason - She's learned that when someone assends the throne, mommy will come back all demonified and probably more than a little pissed off.

I just looked through the Earth book, and it doesnt say anywhere that I could find. On the contrary, in the letters to Chejop Kejak, her childhood teacher says that he is certain that she knows where her mother is, and that she doesn't fear her coming back, but is still waiting to make her move.

If it does say it somewhere, Im very interested too

Roseblack makes a good compromise candidate, as no one trusts her and everyone knows that no one trusts her.  She also is likely to do anything to preserve the Empire.
