Fandom Robotech: Macross

Procrastitron
As the title suggests, an RP revolving around the Macross Saga segment of the Robotech universe. It would be set after the return of the SDF1 to earth and the ensuing mess of Zentradi-human interaction. Macross was by far and away my favourite part of Robotech, and I feel the best written and realised. As such I thought 4-6 people RPing about piloting 47 foot tall transformable mechs would be fun. I don't have much to run with right now except for what's in my head, but if there's interest I'll have it up post-haste.

For those of you that don't know the origins of western anime, the Robotech saga was a combination of three entirely separate series which Harmony Gold smushed together into three relatively connected segments. Altogether it was quite a good job, although I feel that as the story steered away from giant piloted transformers it lost the title *Robotech* as eventually they were just motorbikes that were also Exo suits. Or something.

The premise was that the world was ravaged by ceaseless conflict, until a gigantic alien spaceship (the SDF1) crashed into the Macross Islands in the pacific. An international ceasefire was obtained, and humanity explored the city sized wreck together. Eventually it was restored to be space worthy. Two things were kept secret from general knowledge; Much of the damage it had take had been inflicted in combat. Secondly, they discovered the owners of the ship were giants, over 40' tall (if I remember right). When the ship was finally being launched, the Zentradi called with a fleet of thousands of ships and said they wanted their Super-Dimensional Fortress back. SDF1 runs away in a 'space fold' (FTL bubble) taking most of the islands with it. The city and population were relocated into the titanic spaceship and they trekked home at sub-light velocity, the FTL drive having mysteriously vanished after the space fold.

On the way they had to defend constantly from the Zentradi, who really wanted their Super-important Death Freighter back, for unknown reasons. That was where most of the Macross Saga focused, but eventually they get back to Earth, discover they aren't wanted because they've got an entire Alien armada trailing along behind, and find out a million more Zentradi ships have shown up. They win the day by killing the Zentradi command asteroid-spaceship thing and the SDF1 finally lands.

It was fairly popular and there was recently an attempt to make a crowd sourced feature film based on something by one of the original writers, which I believe has sadly fallen through. There is an extensive wiki online in case you want to swat up. Go for it on questions!

Michael Bay apparently... "Plot? Bah! MORE EXPLOSIONS!!"

[QUOTE="JW Suzusihi]Well The Transformers aren't really Mechs.
I kinda enjoyed the movies.

I enjoyed them too, but they weren't the most complex creations. And true, they ain't got a puny human at the controls.
