What would you call a story? Something that brings you joy as you relax in a warm environment perhaps, or is it something that forever keeps you on your toes in a grand climax as you listen eagerly for what happens next? What I have here, this story, is a final rendition of what I call "Ris'Saliance Aior".
Now what do you think about this? Perhaps another simple fantasy story with high ambitions for a grand future; no, that is not what I call a story but a goal, a hope for the end product to have popularity and fame. This story is a collaboration of ideas I created and suggestions from a friend, and I am proud to give it the unveiling it properly deserves. I give you my latest story. Ris'Saliance Aior: The Legends of Vian.
Fear. Perhaps the greatest weapon anyone can wield as it can bring the greatest down to their knees. It is fear that strikes the hearts of all in some shape or form be it the fear of death, or simply the fear of getting peanut butter on the roof of one's mouth. However, this fear was far worse, beyond the comprehension of recognition. In the hands of a master, fear can be used to keep masses at bay with nothing but a simple threat; transforming the world into a puppet under the control of a puppeteer. Puppeteers like the Elven Emperor Elzaniel Nathrien, who uses his power over Life itself to subdue any and all who dare oppose him, enslaving the weak and killing the strong. Under his rule Elzaniel could've led the Kingdom of Alver to near absolute control of the land of Vian, yet his eyes were on a different prize, the Human Kingdoms of Joten. With no means of standing against this force the world as it stands would crumble into nothing but a mere memory.
Elzaniel saw the humans as weak, impure, vile creatures unworthy of a place in Vian. For thousands of years Elzaniel had feuded with the human kings over this very dilemma, yet Human resistance is not to be challenged lightly. For many generations, the Leskor family, gifted with the power of the Dragon Lord Melonax, had stood against Elzaniel stopping his every attempt of taking Joten. Finally Elzaniel had grown sick of the humans, and invaded the Human Kingdom of Joten. The Human King Melnorix Leskor had sent his eldest son, Prince Melthan Leskor, to the front lines in order to combat this great enemy but... He was lost in their first battle. Now humanity is lost, most of the human kingdoms have fallen; enslaved under Elzaniel's rule. Only the strongest manage to survive within the walls of the Hascoviir Fortress close to the border of Dragon territory.
Each day is a struggle, every moment is an opportunity for Death to settle his hideous claws. The few Citizens of Joten cowered in fear, the same fear of their coming end. In this dark hour, there were still those who made light. Great stories were told of the Heroes of Vian, special beings known as Vaskoliir. Some of the greatest of these heroes were amongst the common folk, they were known by many names. The Masked Revenant, the Pale Maiden, and the Broken Soul are just a few of the countless names that are shared in stories and songs told by sages and druids, for they carried the great Dragon Relics, capable of defeating Elzaniel. However, these great heroes haven't been seen since their leader Zerath Yavernsky had died at the Grand Tournament; murdered by the Alveric movement known as The Broken Sun. It is said that many were killed along with Zerath; their Relics taken or destroyed. Still the stories of their great achievements echo through the memories of those who were there. These stories gave the people hope, hope that keeps them alive yet without the Vaskoliir defeating Elzaniel is impossible.
Now it is time for your story, it has been 6 years since Elzaniel invaded Joten. Most of the land outside the wall has been conquered by Alver, Slavery is very prominent (Alveric elves owning Humans, and humans owning humans; BY NO MEANS am I pro slavery!), and Joten is under martial law. You must find the Vaskoliir, and lead them against Elzaniel or else humanity is doomed! Will you tell the epic of our salvation or shall you sing our requiem?
Your role as the player is to create a character that will tell their own story as they grow into the strongest warriors in the land. I will play the role of two of the last of the Vaskoliir, one trying to scrape a living by in the back country of Frostburne, his birthplace, and the other is hiding in plain sight. I carry one of 4 remaining relics that can be used to defeat Elzaniel, the other 3 are hidden across Joten to be potentially found by you the players. You may seek me out as an ally or you can try to kill me for my relic. (But I won't go down easy )
Overall I'm hoping for people to join and contribute their own sorta "Started from the bottom now we're here" story. I've already prepared a CS but I'm refining some details like where people are going to start, as I have many plans for it. This is set in a fantasy scenario where say Japan and Germany won World War 2 but with Elves in the place of Japan, and Basilisks in the place of Germany. I don't have a set plot in mind, only the canvas for which you paint your art. It's all up to you, either you can fight for freedom and win it all or be the bad guy bringing us to our knees.
