An AU Naruto RP where players may rise from academy student to Kage if they so wish.
May need help with a CO-Gm for this one, so feel free to express interest if you've Gm'd successfully before.

Just a quick rundown of plot events:

Konohagakure: The Land of Fire
Upon the disappearance of their daughter, the Hokage's trust begins to break down with the other great nations. Kumogakure their closest ally.

Iwagakure: The Land of Earth
The Tsuchikage and Kazekage are in the midst of uniting their lands with an unsuspecting marriage.

Kumogakure: The Land of Lightning
The land of lightning and water are in a trade dispute that stirs political tensions. The Raikage is unmoving in his demands for better access to shared resources.

Kirigakure: The Land of Water
After weathering a massive storm, the Mizukage has their hands full with trying to rebuild while attempting to juggle international affairs.

Sunagakure: The Land of Wind
Ushering in an era of peace, the Kazekage prepares a newfounded oasis thanks to their alliance with Iwagakure and Kirigakure.

Interested, but I do have a few questions.

Based on the descriptions you have for the 5 nations, I figure you intend to change some of the canon relationships between the Villages e.g. Kumogakure being Konoha's closest ally instead of Sunagakure.

Could we get more information about these potential changes or what might have happened to cause them? (e.g. no Hyuga Affair and no war between Kumogakure & Konohagakure)

Good question. I was thinking this will be more of an AU RP with original lore and characters.

I don't know much of the events or history of Naruto as I'm only on season 3 of Shippuden and never read the manga. Loving the games.
All I know is that I love the concept and can do my research on all the territories and clans/bloodlines along the way on the wiki.

So creating new events, incidences, and alliances is most ideal unless a Co-Gm is willing to aid me on canon subjects.
Another tricky thing with keeping it canon is fitting it in with the canon timeline and established history and that seems like a headache to keep everything true to the canon.

I'd prefer to keep it fresh and create new stories, but using the same formula of the franchise.

As for Kumogakure being closest to Konoha, Konoha assisted Kumo when raiders from the land of Iron attempted to assassinate the Raikage when Kumo was in a vulnerable state: Kumogakure was partially affected by the devastating storm that hit Kirigakure.

There's word around the nations that the Samurai have grown vastly in number and have developed a heavy influence in the land of Earth. A sort of prejudice has formed from Kumo toward the Samurai in Iwagakure even though the raiders from their region reportedly acted on their own.

Sounds good! I would recommend more than one Co-Gm if you intend to dabble with the five great nations and beyond (such as the Land of Iron/Samurai and others).

I'd be interested if the intent is to mirror early naruto rather than later. While I like madara and stuff, the early naruto lore was so good. Girls were trained to be spies, genjutsu were designed to disable enemies and make them easy to kill. Tricking your opponent was such a high value strategy in the zabuza arc, that a little kid almost killed a 20 year vet haha. I really liked this aspect of early naruto and i kind of detested the 4 tails transformations and akatsuki stuff.

Honestly yeah. The shippuden arc gets a bit complex for my taste, but its growing on me the more I've gotten older.
I like to keep things simple, so while we can incorporate the more complex themes, we'll mostly stick to the magic of the first series

Shippunden isn't complex. Deidara is a nuke who flies on a clay bird. Kisame is anti everyone in the verse because his sword drains Chakra. Naruto became more of a carbon copy of dragon ball z rather than a show about ninjas.

It's still about ninja, just...ninjas with space magic :v

In any case, yes. If you do away with Shippuden then you'll save yourself a lot of effort dealing with how strong characters should be and some of the more contentious pieces of lore.

If we're keeping the power level on the lower end then I've got a character in mind already, a Yang & Yin release OC who focuses on Taijutsu and genjutsu.

For me, its the introduction of all the seemingly OP characters and the first was just easier to follow is what I mean

Agreed. For starters, we'll mostly be focused on Academy business. Sensei and the formation of the Three-man squads.

Ah, since you've mentioned three-man squads, what's your intention there with the nations? Are we able to freely choose which nations our characters come from or would it be preferred if we all came from the same nation?

I don't see any problem with the students being from different nations as Konoha is mostly all-inclusive during this time
The Hokage's trust in the other nations begins to waver only very recently. Naturally they'll have the ones from other villages closely observed.

Ah, so there's like a multi-national academy in konoha, with tensions between nations ramping up as our characters rise through the ranks and become more able to involve themselves in the conflicts? I like it!

Would the three-man squads also be multi-national?

Now that would depend. I could see that working for like alliance operations for sure.

It's fine. I just expressed my opinion. Either way im willing to pitch in if you want my input on this.

I'd like to join but might I ask how you intend to have us as characters interact? Will we be forming three student squads and preparing for the chunin exams? Also, though I don't intend to play an Uchiha, will you be changing the lore to allow for those or sticking with Sasuke being the last Uchiha?
