Imagine him with shaggy hair, downcast, beaten and intense blue eyes. That was who he was.
Today his hair is even longer, almost Conan like (or maybe Superman after he died and was resurrected).
Jonathan Rhand was the school outcast. He was a city boy who had moved to the country following what some believed to be violence in his past, probably expelled. The first thing the kids at school did was invite him to an outing just to leave him there. Everyone knew the spot they picked had no cell reception. He never said anything.
In school he quickly gained a reputation for being a know-it-all and a bit of a freak. Oh, he didn’t deserve it, not really. He never offered information unless asked. But he was never wrong. His grades made the curves tougher. As he got older he grew taller. If he had tried, he would probably have been handsome. His hair was always shaggy and unkempt. His clothes looked second hand. He never joined sports. He was always getting into fights, though he never started them. But every now and then he would draw the wrath of a jock. He was a magnet for bullies.
After high school he left town basically dropping off the face of the Earth. It has been the better part of 10 years. The school’s 10 year reunion is approaching, Jonathan’s return was almost invisible. He probably preferred it that way. But some of the old football team never grew up. Most never made it out of town. Spotting Jon was just an opportunity for taking out their frustration at failures on someone who wouldn’t stand up for himself.
They surrounded Jon’s beat up old pickup with tricked out 4x4 pickups. Then they jumped out to “welcome” Jon back. There were six of them. They all ended up at the hospital, though most wounds were superficial. Accusations were made.
Reunion
The Reunion the title refers to is the 10 Year Class Reunion. It is coming up soon. (This will determine the age of the characters which should be 17-18 plus nearly 10 years.) No, Jon wasn’t supposed to get an invitation. He doesn’t actually need one. It is a formality, a simple reminder. The truth is, no one wanted to invite him back.
Your Character
I am looking for a female character. You could have been the popular girl, or maybe the smart one - or both. Maybe you were dating the football team. Maybe you were trying to be the valedictorian. Maybe you were outdoorsy. Maybe you went into law enforcement. (Law Enforcement is a good one for having the two meet after a decade. You could be sent to arrest him or simply investigate.) OR .. you could have also moved out of town to pursue your own dreams / career - succeed or fail. You could have become just about anything, back on invitation, and planning to go back to the big city after the reunion.
As part of your character background you should have some idea of what you were like back in High School. Also, your character should have a family background. 10 years is enough time for college and the start of a career.
