Laurena would walk down the corridors towards her lab. The interior gave off a chilly atmosphere in the hallways as the walls where white and the floor and ceiling were made out of steel. If it was cold in the winter it was also harder for the building to warm up despite the many systems they had. It was not like it was small either but one could see it as a small factory if people did not know what exactly was going on inside. Though they could notice some small differences because of the multiple surveillance camera's hanging outside and the more scientific appearance. Even Laurena was first hesitant to start working here because the only places she had worked before this was in a hospital to search for medicins which could improve the health of the people and maybe even cure most of the cancers without having to do dangerous operations or chemo.

After a while of walking, she finally reached the lab. The doors slid open in front of her and a voice welcomed her inside as her ID-cart was scanned. Her eyes roamed over the several desks that were standing around a tube that was now empty. There used to be someone in it which was used to experiment on. It was honestly quite a shock when she first saw the several experiments, doubting if this was the group for her as they always seemed to fail. But somehow this motivated her for doing more her best. Spending years of work to make it work so they would not lose another life because of small mistakes, wanting do her job as perfect as possible just for that cause. She had become used to it in time and she was assigned to this person. Having put him in a comatose sleep until this day.

She walked passed the other researchers and to another part of the room. Walking inside as the experiment should be waking up soon, though keeping a safe distance by sitting on a chair in the furthest corner as she could not predict what the person would do to her once he woke up. It was always a risk but she was willing to take it as it was she who did the main process and was the leader of the other researchers.

Being only half alive was scary. For years, Jakilin had been in a deep sleep, being experimented on. He couldn't even remember why he volunteered, because it had been so long. In fact, he couldn't remember anything, because he had been cut off from the world for God knows how long. His world was darkness, he wasn't aware of anything going on. The only sound was his heart beat, the only thing he could feel was the bed in which he was lying on. Actually, he couldn't even feel that, he couldn't feel anything. All he knew was there was a chance he would never wake up, never see the light again.

Until now. Today was the day Jay could finally say something (haha, yay, rhyme!). Today was the day he would once again see light. Today was the day he would reconnect with society. Today was the day he would see other organic life forms. Today was the day he would wake up...

After being a world of darkness, even the dimmest of light was blinding. At first, he couldn't see, but his vision soon recovered. It took Jay a few moments to realize what was going on, before it hit him. He had been an experiment, some scientist had been doing something to him. What? He couldn't remember.

"What did you do to me?" he asked, as soon as he got his voice back.

@TaeYeon

As Laurena would notice the male opening his eyes, she grew a bit impatient as he was adjusting to the light. It was only normal that the light would hurt his eyes after been in such a long sleep before. Sometimes she just wanted to stop the whole program but the researcher would not let her and she could not object since she was in the minority. It made her feel guilty whenever she needed to run a test on the person called Jay without him even noticing it or saying to stop all of this...

As she heard the question that the other asked, she sat on the edge of her chair as she looked at him. "You've undergone several tests and we have managed to make you less vulnerable than a normal human being. But there are some things that you should be able to do but those we still don't know as it is different for every person." She tried to explain to him though she did not full know how to. There were others like him that underwent these tests but she did not know much about them, only that there was a difference in each and every one of them, making them unique.

Jay nodded as the girl spoke, taking in as much information as possible. So they were trying to make him less vulnerable? Did that mean they were trying to make him stronger? Or did it mean they were trying to make him harder to kill? So many questions, so little answers. "I'm a still a human?" he asked, aware that some people who were experimented on transformed into a whole other species.

Laurena pushed herself up from where she was sitting when she heard the question of him. "You still are." She said and walked over towards him to lean on the wall next to him so she could see his reaction from up close. Not many researchers dared to come this close to their experiments at the first day but Laurena did not care at all. It was she who made him like this and nobody else and she wanted to guide him from the moment that he woke up.

"Can you move your body? Or do you have problems with that?" She asked a bit concerned since the other had not moved at all since he started speaking to her. Letting her eyes go over him completely to see if there were any transformations but there were none to her relief. She demanded that he stayed human and even got in multiple arguements with the other researchers who had too much fantasy in her opinion. Sometimes their thoughts scared and that made her keep an even closer eye on them.

Good, he thought, I'm still a human being... Jay liked being human, and he wanted to stay that way. Still, he had so many questions to ask. Most the answers he probably already knew, but he had just forgotten. But before he could ask, he had to answer her questions. "I-I think I can..." he answered, attempting to move his arm up and down, "Wait..." His brain sent a message to the muscles in his arm (oh! science!), telling them to move up and down. It didn't work. "Umm... no."

When he said that he could, she waited patiently for him to try and move something even if it was only the slightest bit. However when he said that he could not do so as she asked, she frowned as that was not supposed to happen. She walked over towards him with a rather serious and worried expression. Laying her hand on top of his right arm and looked him in the eyes. "Do you feel this?" She asked him as she tried to figure out what she could do to fix this.

Jay bit his lip and closed his eyes when she touched him. He could feel it, but it didn't feel good. In fact, he wished she would take her hand off him. "Yes," he replied, "I can feel it."

Laureana was glad that the other said that she could feel her touch but still the facial expression on Jay made her retreat her hand and look at the notes about him that she was holding in her hands. Swiping her finger over the lines of the text as she tried to figure out what it could have been that could have caused the other to react this way to her. Or maybe it was just because he did not like her and wanted her to get away from him which was actually completely understandable to her as she would also be pretty pissed off by having been put asleep for years and years without having the chance to actually wake up.

She let out a sigh and then looked back to the male as she smiled apologetically toward him as she did not know why he was reacting like this. As said before, it was different for every person and Jay was the only one who came out as a human and not as some kind of alien or animal-like being. "I should let the others know about this. So if you would excuse me." She said with a little nod toward the other and walked toward the exit of the room to go back to the others who were probably waiting for her to give them some kind of explanation of how everything was going.

Jay attempted to smile, but failed. Why could he talk, but not move? That just made no sense at all... Still, perhaps it was just an error? Maybe things would go back to normal after a few minutes? That was unlikely, but he was hopeful. While the girl was gone, he tried to look at his surroundings, but couldn't really move his head much, Shame, really.

Laureana consulted the other scientists who seemed utterly confused just as she was, making them start thinking about a solution that they could use. Maybe they should do another row of tests but this time to see what was wrong with him and what he needed to do in order to stabilize again and be able to walk on his own two feet as so to say. She would have felt horrible if it was because of her that the other would not be able to move anymore.

She let the researchers work on it as she walked back to Jay. While rubbing the back of her neck, she would stand next to the other his bed and let out a stressed sigh. "Is there anything that you feel that's wrong? Are you in pain?" She asked him with a soft voice.

As he lay there waiting, Jay listened to the muffled voices of the scientists. He couldn't hear much, but he could hear just enough to tell they were confused. And so he lay there, staring at the ceiling and listening as hard as possible, just until someone, anyone, would come back.

"Is there anything that you feel that's wrong? Are you in pain?" Someone was there. Good. It sounded like the girl from before, the scientist. "I'm fine," he said honestly, "There's nothing wrong."
