Once
the gods were mighty, although divided in a myriad of ways. They hung on the threads of being both tangible and rumored, with the power of faith keeping them thriving. But, it also kept them in check, with the scorned believer being their greatest downfall. As human faith grew, so did the malicious doubt in the spirit of mankind. Thus, the Gods' main occupation became clear--to stave off the darkness of immorality and absolute sin. However, there was a caveat: Not every man was worthy of hearing the true desire of their creators because not all men were created from the divine. Prophets were doubted based on bias, and the message of the cosmos was ultimately lost.

Now, in an age of one human-made God above all, the deities of old are withering away. With no other option, they are using what is left of their strength to give the world a fighting chance against the Darkness, which has finally found a way to take form. With the destruction of Earth on the horizon, it's up to the most unlikely union of human will and divine might to keep this unstoppable force in check.

Enter:
The Demigods of this Millennium
. Although traditional methods are more common, some of the children of the Gods have been produced by means that are more creative than bursting forth from heads. The lot hails from cultures and backgrounds as diverse as the stars in the sky. While some have been informed about the world-state from birth, some will have to improvise with their new knowledge of their true strength. As the Gods of old die, they leave the world one final hope to thrive on; a true revolution of faith.

interested!!

Are there certain Pantheon's that we're sticking to or are any up for grabs?

No limit on pantheons. Just know that the gods are dying and they won't be able to intervene much as the new age of faith unfolds.

will we be using realistic fc's?

Real faceclaims or realistically drawn faceclaims are acceptable
time to start brain-storming on which deity I want to use. Would Primordial Gods such as Selene or Helios be off-limits? Titans too?

I have a couple of questions. First of all, how are we defining gods?

Is it any mythological figure? Like, could one play a demigod of Fenrir even if he isn't technically a god? What about angels?

And what about deified humans?

Secondly, how mythologically accurate are we expected to be? Could one, for example, play a demigod of Ix Tab even though that goddess (most likely) didn't exist?

If there is a technicality about the godhood, it probably won't work. Also, angels and demons, or anything of the Abrahamic Theological Origin, are a dead stop. Not that they won't have a time in the rp--which will be controversial, but suspend your beliefs and you'll be in for a cool twist--but I don't want any out of control debates about how I steer the narrative with that particular "pantheon".

And what about deified humans?
They'll have a place as NPCs, as I specifically told you guys, and some humans aren't created by the gods- whether they know it or not.

That question answers itself, as the power of faith and belief strengthens the gods in this RP. If they were only rumored and rooted in enough disbelief, were they ever even there?

orpheus. orpheus. so just to be 100% clear on our starting point, every PC in this roleplay directly has a mythological god as their progenitor?

Either they loved a mortal very much (or not at all),they made the character out of clay,or the kid burst out of another body part and all the other origins.

But right now the gods are on the wane, can barely interfere with the mortal world, and so our heroes can hardly rely on their assistance and...may not even know/remember who they really are?

Alright, makes sense.

But would angels and demons from other mythologies work? Like, say the Yazata and Daevas from Zoroastrianism?

I'm afraid I must have missed that, I'm sorry.

Oh, and one more question. What about religious syncretism? Are the Roman and Greek gods different entities from each other?

Yes, you've got it. Some were raised with the notion of having a divine purpose, but that is a rarity. The whole message of the RP deals with the renewal of all things and letting some old truths rest to start again.

In this case, they'd be two halves of a whole. Think of it this way: The gods are half-human in a way as well. They come from the human consciousness. With enough belief and cosmic favor, the god is made whole. BTW: Their weakness, other than disbelief, is contradiction.

Anyway... if the idea of a god is altered for a more civilized culture, they can exist outside of the god they're derived from.

Points for being well-versed in global theology! I was hoping those figures, while not indentured servants, would have a purpose of policing the attacks that the Darkness of Hearts has been waging against mankind and the gods. Also, they'd be readily available to instruct the new Demigods about their plight and other things. TL;dr - The cosmic mythological beings have a place in this story too.

I have made the decision that the lore of the rp(power mechanics, backgrounds, etc.) will be a combined effort. I'm in the midst of making a discord ooc, since it has the most votes so far. Everyone is encouraged to join, since interest is stable and growing.

Also, I'm looking for a coGM. Could it be you? Dm me if you're interested.

very interested! however, i may need to do some research. gobal mythology has always interested me, but i only know a handful of pantheons. i've also never been able to participate in a war-centric rp, most of the plots don't resonate with me. this one sounds exciting!

Hi!

Interested but will wait for OOC to flesh out rules and baseline stuffs first.
