Renkei Kuzumiyo (Devious's dude)

Devious Dilbert

Double the D, double the fun.

Renkei Kuzumiyo

Main type of magic:

Healing magic: Pretty basic. Includes the mending of flesh and the restoration of stamina. (Deeper wounds= more energy/time, etc.)

In addition to this, he possess a few spells that can act as 'wards', protecting one from various elements. As long as the caster is standing, the ward is enabled.

Though, his magical ability is far from a masterful magician. The strength of his wards are easily beaten by 'high level' mages. Against your average caster and below, his wards should suffice.

Of course, multiple wards take a toll on his own physical state and magical energy. Very often he is only able to control about three at a time without collapsing from his own incompetence.

Wind magic: also somewhat basic. No tornadoes, typhoons, etc. A strong gust of wind that is able to knock back those within a medium-close range is about the best he can do as of now.

Rank:

Delta/Newbie

Personality:

"It's awfully quiet back there. Are you two making out?"

Being polite to everyone and swallowing the bullshit that they always tried to shove down your throat has gotten Ren pretty far if he were to say so himself. Being nice makes people wanna help you. And in a world where all it takes is a back turned to get you killed, he would rather be the super nice guy handing out flower crowns. Nobody hates those guys, right?

Fighting the system was never in his blood, neither was rebellion. In nature, he is a bit on the submissive side, docile, and a born follower. But this never bothered him, in fact- it's quite nice not having to make decisions. Nobody gets mad at you when you're not the one making the stupid choices. He's never called the shots around anywhere. And he's been just fine without doing so.

"What a cool way to start this off by calling me a beta!"

What also got him far was his charisma. Talking to people is what he does. He enjoys it. The banter, jokes, pointless conversations- aren't so pointless to him. Now that his sister is gone, Ren has wanted to open up to other people. Losing the only bond that he had has made him want to create more in its place. And so, because of this, Ren loves to talk. Meeting people is one of his favorite past times. It's not unusual that he'll chat up a stranger. Even if it's just small talk- Words can make a person's day. It certainly makes his. Long conversations remind him of his traveling days. He's sentimental. Can't help it.

"I just enjoy conversing and listening- It's a peaceful interaction."

A pushover he may be, but in a 'tired parental guardian' kind of way; he possesses a great deal of patience, but has gotten much better at putting his foot down, so it wouldn't be accurate to call him a true pacifist. In all honesty, Ren is very motherly. He is caring, empathetic, and sensitive. His inherently motherly side can make him a bit protective and worrisome. It is also this that can ignite vindictive streaks in him when people close to him of high importance are wronged. He has a strong determination even if he is a weakling, and this alone is enough to keep him on track and moving towards his goals, whether for somebody else, benevolent, or malevolent. And while generally forgiving, everybody has boundaries.

"My sister used to call me out on being so emotionally driven. Haha- well- Yeah... She was pretty right about it- I won't lie-"

Traveling around the lands has desensitized Renkei to the differences that separate people whether it be race, religion, language, or simply opposing mentalities. He is extremely tolerant to difference because of his experience. Sometimes, he must remind himself not to judge, but in the end he is always fair. To him, it is not what a person is- but who- that deserves judgement. And so, everybody gets a chance to make a good impression.

"I try my best to set differences aside and simply coexist. It's something I think more people should do, honestly."

History:

Renkei was born into a normal household in a largely populated city. He had both a mother and a father and one older twin sister, Rei. They were a very loving family. Both of his parents were kind and he was very close with his sister; he would have even gone as far as to call her his best friend.

Life seemed to flow naturally without any problems for the earlier part of his childhood. That is- until their parents had divorced when he was at the age of 6. There was no gradual build up, no signs of it happening, was very much unexpected. To this day, in fact, he does not know why this had to happen. As a child, the period where the mind is the most fragile, this left a certain impact on him. He very much liked his mother, and they had a great relationship, but even so, she refused custody of her children and she turned them over to the father as she left the city. This was the last time he had ever saw her figure, and ever since then his memory of her appearance had progressively faded.

For a couple years after his mother's parting, life carried on just as naturally. Though, it was hard getting used to his home life with only his sister and his father present. Both him and Rei had to take up most of the housework while their father would spend most of the day at work. Without a woman in the house, things certainly were very different, but not terribly so for the most part. However, at the age of 9, things decided to take a turn for the worst and soon, it all began to look very grim for the family. The children's father would spend more of his free time out drinking at the local pub. And when he would come home- there would be plenty of yelling, drama and conflict in general. However, it was only verbal. Their father's abuse did not turn physical until him and his sister had both turned the age of 11.

For a couple more years this had lasted. It became a common thing for fights to occur on the daily. Both Rei and Renkei turned into very bitter children. They looked to each other for support and had began to only trust and rely on one another. They soon started to ignore and and all attempts to interact with them from anyone else. The two felt banded together against their father and would often back each other up when he would berate or chastise them. When Renkei had turned 13, he had developed to become emotionally independent and would leave the house often. Rei began pushing her brother away from her as she matured and realized that she was the only female in their household and he understood her reasons for distancing herself, however, he grew to be very protective of his sister because of the sole fact that she was now a young woman. And with how their father would treat them, he figured he had to be. Although the two started to separate more, their relationship was not negatively effected. Both brother and sister still very much trusted and relied on each other.

They grew- and their father's treatment towards them grew even worse. At 16, they were inseparable no matter what. But, of course, with their mental states maturing and developing their own personalities, they would have disputes every now and then. They were never significant, in fact- many were very childish and easily solvable; such was normal for two siblings growing independent of one another. There was only once that an argument had blew to rather intense proportions, and this had resulted in the older brother leaving his sister for the day.

After a few hours of Renkei aimlessly walking around their grandiose city with no specific destination, he returned clear-minded at nightfall. Upon entering the house, he saw his sister, in tears, pinned down to the ground by their father. Without an ounce hesitation, he grabbed the nearest object and without knowing what he had in his hand, he proceeded to beat the man, knocking him unconscious- so it seemed- and leaving blood to stain their halls. In an act of the moment, he then grabbed his stunned and terrified sister's hand and stormed out of the house. Once far, he had pleaded her to give answers to his bombardment of questions, but every attempt to ask her what had happened only resulted in her refusal to speak of it. Eventually, he sadly figured it out himself later.

With no home to return to and without any knowledge of what lay beyond the city's walls, they had no choice but to lay low. In truth, they were both afraid of what would happen to them now, but with each other, they were determined that they would get through whatever challenge or hardship that lay ahead. With time, the two proceeded to live on the streets, racking up as much money as they could and eventually finding roofs to stay under for the nights.

As soon as Renkei had turned 18, they left the city. The survival skills that they had learned from their rough childhood life and from the time they had spent living independently had them believe that they would be absolutely fine in the open world. And with that, they left the confinements of their city with what little they had and traveled from town to town, caravan-hopping from one place to another, an old road to newer path, and one scenic ride to another. For what seemed like time uncounted, they lived this way, enjoying their lives without a past to weigh them down. Rei, the natural leader of the two, always knew what she was doing, the younger brother thought. He was happy to follow his sister all over the country sides.

Five years of wandering had come to an end with all but a simple change of luck. When Renkei was 23, the caravan that carried him and his sister underwent a bandit attack. Arrows flew through the air that morning as the inside shook and rumbled with the fear of the passengers and the piercing of the exterior. Renkei could remember, as him and his sister ducked for their lives, the few experienced adventurers that rose to protect him, his sisters, and the rest of the ordinary feeble travelers within. With no combat experience, the siblings could only rely on the power of the brave few. But soon, parts of the walls were torn down, leaving them all exposed, and as the brother looked down, he saw the arrow perforated into the abdomen of his sister.

After the bandits were drove off, the caravan was able to continue on its way. On the first stop, a mere resting post, Renkei immediately jumped to carry his sister to a nearby shelter for care. She was accepted into treatment, but the process took days as there were no professional healers available, and unfortunately, the girl had lost too much blood. In little time, Rei died due to infection and lack of proper care. After this tragic event, Renkei stopped traveling altogether. He shut himself in. And for four years, he holed himself up, obsessing over the casting of healing arts. The poor man would read for days anything magic-related, trying to learn of what he could have done himself to save his sister. And after careful assessment, he began to practice what he had learned.

With a learned new skill and personally wanting to come to terms with his sister's death, Renkei set out, searching for a new purpose to his life at the age of 27.

And now, Today, The Silver Wolves, a recruiting guild, had captured his interest for whatever reason, and he decided to try his luck with a new lifestyle.
