Reducing Training Times

Is there any way using mortal Abilities, such Performance, to reduce training times?  It seems like a combination of good instruction and inspirational teaching could accomplish it so I'm wondering if anybody has a suggestion for the game mechanics.

I'd accept that as a stunt for Performance or Presence, preferring Presence.

How would the stunt work?  Normally, stunts provide bonus dice and regenerate something, but in this case, what dice would be rolled and how would the number of successes determine the training time?

I dunno... I mean, surely the training times include the assumption that someone is going to be training them well?

True, but not all trainers are equal.  The presence of a trainer reduces the time by half, but couldn't an outstanding trainer reduce that time further?

I think I'd only allow that if said trainer were a PC, or maybe if the trainer were a legendary character like Chejop Kejack or a Deathlord or something.

You Stunt it with a trainng montage.  Hasn't anyone ever watched a martial arts flick? Any of the Rocky movies?

Look at how well that Van Damme or Olivier Gruner do when they get the time to set up a training montage.  Seriously.  Get a good montage scene in your description, I'd not only give you cut down training times, but a few die bonus for the next couple of fight scenes against a really tough opponent.

In my world, stunts are more than dice adders.  They are the way of doing exceptional, rule-bending deeds.  There would be no roll involved here, only a reduction of (say) 10% to 30% of the training time depending on quality of the stunt.

their is ONE way to get around them.

the spell in Exalted the siderals.

And im pretty sure that tiger warrior technique condenses training a bit.

Theirs been talk about "Super Tiger warrior training technique" charms on some sites, most really powerful.

but this is something that needs to be carefully considered as traiing time is one of the major frailtys of being mortal.

There are spells and Charms that accomplish it, which is why I thought that mortal Abilities should be able to reduce training times a little as well.  Not to the extent magic can, but it would reflect that not all trainers are equal.

Stunts can duplicate the effects of charms, under certain circumstances. corebook, p 268. This seems like an appropriate instance. As long as the stunt was good, I'd let someone roll some dice to try and improve training times.

This is one of my favourite rules, actually. It's governed by the stunt rules, so if a player tries abusing it you can simply stop letting it work. That solves most of these sorts of questions for me: if it's cool, you bend the rules like so. If it's boring, you're stuck with the status quo.

It's like the discussion about cutting off limbs. No, really.
