I've got a couple questions wewhew!

I would like to play a fairly young character. Perhaps fourteen or thirteen. Is that allowed?

If so, I would actually like them to have discovered their abilities very recently. If they were experienced, I'd say they had like a 80 in magic and 20 in combat via credentials. But they aren't, so how exactly would that work? Does that make sense? Sorry, I'm having trouble wording this xD

And finally, how uncommon is it for say, someone to be born in the Vanate empire, but have water magic? Or born from a family fire capabilities, and then have water magic? Is it random? Genetic?

Yes, such an age is allowed.

That is an issue we might tackle every so often, so I'll have to include that to the cs guidelines. You'll be halving all numbers, equating them to 50, instead.

The alignment to the elements is genetic, but a person may choose to utilize a different element, but at a cost. As for your example, if someone born in the Vanate prefers to use water magic, that is no problem, however, the character will not be able to utilize the said at their highest potential, for they are better attributed with fire.

Gotcha ^-^

Last question: Are there any physical attributes that point towards a type of magic someone has? Say, someone with fire magic has red hair, someone with blue eyes has water magic, etc.

Nope. They look much like a regular person. The alignment to a certain element, or the proficiency in a certain kind of magic does not affect one's appearance at all.

If we are playing somone from our world, what determines the kind of magic we can use when we get to Vardisso? Can we even use magic?

Combat and magic credentials are to be skipped, if one is to play as someone from our world, as said in the cs guidelines.

The character's elemental affinity and magical capability will be tackled at a latter date.

Well done on those characters, you two.
Eeee thanks! I also really like Sir Roger :o I think if Feria and Roger got to liking each other he could be like a father figure to her, which would be fun to play out :D

Fun fact: Original Feria is twenty-something years old, created for a dragon RP, has a really cool ice dragon, and is an ass. I made a younger version 8)

I agree. It would be truly interesting to what would happen.

Somehow, I get the feeling that Feria might conjure an ice dragon later in the story.

Oooh, you know, in the Magic section in the Overview, you used examples of fire magic for the credentials. Could you do the same for other elements? That's kind of a big question, sorry. I'm excited, as you can tell *3*

By that do you mean include the other elements as examples in the overview, or just here?

Just here is fine! I just want to see how abilities will grow!
Very well. In this case, I would be excluding the fire element for it would be quite redundant to do such. Anyways, here we go.

Basic magical prowess (1-20) allows one to use magic in their daily needs and for a small amount of utility. Using this in combat would render it quite ineffective, mainly due to the simplicity and very low strength of the spells. Examples of these would be purifying dirtied waters, making a small amount of liquid colder, accelerating the growth of a plant, generating soft breezes, creating a tiny sphere of light to illuminate the darkness, and blending into the shadows.

Primary magical prowess (21-39) allows one to use magic much better than basic, and has better effectiveness in combat use. Examples of these would be converting water to ice and vice-versa, creating short lasting mists, commanding plant life, scanning the surroundings using earth vibrations, cleansing one's mind of illusions, creating a blinding flash of light, and even using shadows and darkness to hinder an opponent's vision.

Intermediate magical prowess (40-70) allows one to use various kinds of complex magic, mainly focusing on combat use. Examples of these would be controlling water by sheer will, rendering one's self immune to freezing and drowning, creating intense and powerful gusts, creating a protective wall of thorns and roots, smiting enemies with incinerating light, corrupting the mind of enemies by dark visions, and even conjuring small, weak creatures.

Advanced magical prowess (71-99) allows one to use the most powerful and complex spells ever existed, and create new spells using one's own research and knowledge in the field of magic. Example of these would be summoning a tidal wave to cut down an opposing force, turning the solid ground to slippery ice, making various kinds of stone pillars sprout randomly from the ground, rendering the air sharp enough to cut flesh, summoning tornadoes and storms, having visions of the many possible futures, dispelling other kinds of magic, corrupting one's flesh and soul using the dark arts, and even making the dead live once more.

Yeah, sorry it took so long, got a bit distracted.

Just read over Feria, I think seeing as Roger lacks any children, she will make a fine surrogate daughter!

This looks interesting. I more or less have an idea for a character, but I have a question first. When it comes to learning magic, how would one do that? Is self teaching through books enough? Or does one need to have a tutor? Are there are school that specialize in magic teachings?

There are various ways to learn how to use magic. Self-study using books and scrolls can be done, but the process is very difficult. Taking apprenticeship under an adept magic-user is another option, and going to various schools that teach magic as well. However, the said schools will only be able to teach the respective element of their nation, and the quality of their education varies on who they would be teaching - nobles would be of greater, whilst lower classes would be given other.

Almost done with my character. I do have another question though. Since there seems to be a rock paper scissors kinda deal with the three first elements, how would dark/light magic interact with water, fire and nature? Is light and dark magic weaker or stronger than other three elements or are they equal?
