hello!! i'm opaline, a very amateur self-taught coder. but i have a lot of things just floating around in my own workshop that would better serve the world as freebies than hidden away. especially since i've said i'll do this like a million times. all i ask is you read through my rules to the right of this section, and respect them when using my codes!

if you do use my codes, leaving likes would be appreciated! it's nice to see what people like, and also the more popular a code, the more likely i'll post more similar things as i get a sense of what people are enjoying and using.

i regularly use hidden scrolls, but usually it should be pretty obvious where there is a scroll box despite there not being a scroll bar. if it's not clear, i'll be sure to note it per each code.

also, all of my codes are mobile friendly unless indicated otherwise. but i can only test them on the screens i have, so do let me know if you encounter issues on yours so i can look into fixing them! the fix in question may just be horizontal scrolls where the responsive layouts fail me though... there is only so much i can mentally strongarm bbcode to do for me.

i currently only plan to post codes i make. maybe one day i'll give requests a go, but not at the moment, so please do not ask me to code anything for you.

though if you face any issues, whether it be accessing a code, or finding problems with display on your device, please do pm! i don't bite... or do i? i don't, pls just reach out to me

i feel like i should have more to say here but i have no thoughts. i really hope you find something to your liking!

for general advice and indicators as to editing my codes, see below:
  • at the beginning, there will be a comment to 'load' fonts. if you want to change the fonts in the code, you must edit in each font into these tags as well as into the variables (also always located at the beginning). but for the most part, this can be entirely ignored - it is just making sure that when used in the divs it works properly! and i can't guarantee how well the layouts will work with different fonts so, you're on your own there.
  • "!!--- (words here) ---!!" is how i will signify where to EDIT, such as "character name here".
  • "//--- (words here) ---//" is how i will write general comments for the structure of the code, such as the beginning and end of contents in tabs, or where you can copy things for more tags etc. just helpful for orientating yourself in the messy text! at least it is for me. i get lost easily.

2. codes not in this thread
please don't yoink any codes of mine that i haven't posted here. most of them will end up here eventually, usually they're just not easy to use yet and need some workshopping before i share! if you do really want to use one of mine i've yet to post, feel free to pm me to ask, but no guarantees.

3. copying sections of code
i'm more than happy for people to look into the insides to try learn, i honestly think it's one of the best ways, but i'd prefer if you didn't straight up copy paste entire chunks that i have written.

4. inspiration
i regularly use inspiration from all sorts of things, so feel free to use my codes as inspiration for your own. it'd be nice for a bit of a shout out/credit if you do, though!

5. requests
as mentioned, i don't intend to do requests at the moment, so i'd appreciate if you did not ask me to make anything for you!

6. enjoy
yes, this is a rule! my hours of slaving over a keyboard will help you pretty up your post, and have fun while doing it! if you do like anything, some reacts would brighten my day too!! and motivate me to put more out there, let's be real, i crave external validation

EDIT 26/01: Slightly adjusted the padding for the music player.

Aaaand to follow up, another full set of placeholder, character sheet and in character code! All three are displayed below, in that order respectively. I still have links for the previews, in case where the scrolls/tabs are is unclear, they should help highlight each part of the code.

The placeholder just has a (working) music player, while the cs has that, plus a hidden scroll on the right to reveal some tabs, which all also house the ability for their sections to have a scroll! The in character code has a button in the bottom right of the image that reveals 'post info', which you guessed it, scrolls.

Only particular note for editing is the section for the song and its lyrics can be a little finnicky in terms of fitting, and it does not overflow, so just be wary of length! Don't be afraid to use line breaks if you want a word on the next line instead of squashed!

Also no, I do not code this fast. I just have things that have been mostly done for ages lol

mix together a bit of obsession, plus a lot of googling (there are a lot of resources on css online which we can inject into bbcode!), and you get self-taught! thank you so much for the compliment, genuinely makes my day!! 💕

sadly seeing “scion” only made me think of “scions of the seventh dawn” (too much ffxiv, if you know you know). unfortunately not a scion fan 😔
