Other Random question of the day

Random question of the day:

Is it common for scientists to be agnostic in their religious belief due to religious theories such as creationism conflicting with their profession?

Agnosticism is, in principle, pretty in line with the concept of empirical testing and basing one’s beliefs on such. This it make some sense for a scientist to say they withhold judgement on the presence of the supernatural and divine in lacking proof of it (especially since the existence of God in a general sense is fundamentally not falsifiable). That being said for both religious and non-religious the justification tends to be ad-hoc. For most people I find the environment they grew up with is the defining factor, though depending on the person and their circumstances this will either lead them to just stick to whatever was their personal “default” or to be in active rebellion against it more often than not for reasons that are entirely parallel to any reason to believe or not believe in a higher power.

As for creationism… honestly it’s really not such an influential thing anymore as to make waves in anywhere it’s not being derided in. The only times and places I’ve seen any mention of its ideas were by people using them as a bad example or as a justification for something. But even at the height of its influence I doubt people were petty enough to outright declare themselves to different beliefs than what they had over that, or just over that at any rate.

No answers yesterday. Oh well.

Random question of the day:

If aliens came to Earth and happened to meet you, would you talk to them like you were talking to a regular human being?

Probably not. Biologically, technologically, morally and socially distinct beings would require a different approach, which is to say nothing of the emotional side of the situation like being scared shitless that I’ve been given such a responsibility or just encountered a real life alien out of nowhere.

Random question of the day:

Where does the werewolf's weakness to silver originate from?

From what I hear it’s got something to do with silver being considered sacred. There’s probably more to it though.

Random question of the day:

How come Nintendo has never considered the idea of a crossover between Luigi's Mansion and Ghostbusters?

I think Hyde. Hyde. hit the nail on the head with that one. Rights and licensing and all that other messy legal stuff you need to go through. Adding to that confusion is that the very fact that the reference is obvious makes calling attention to it from the original IP a potential risk.

Random question of the day:

Given the success of the Castlevania series and its theme of vampire hunting, could similar videogame series themed around hunting other monsters such as werewolves or skeletons find similar success?

Well of course. Whether a theme works is, other than in some extreme cases, less a question of what theme you're using and more of how you're using it.

I've never met anyone who prefers "trick" on Halloween.

Random question of the day:

What video game do you like to play each year as an annual Halloween tradition?
I have to say for me it’s Earthbound specifically the threed portion when the zombies take over there’s literally some weird pumpkin wearing kid enemy called trick or trick.

Pokemon Ultra Sun. There's nothing Halloween about it, I just first played it in early October.

I don't have any Halloween gaming traditions. I'm just playing whatever is on my list.

Random question of the day:

How long does it generally take for a person to remain by themselves on a deserted island with limited resources before insanity kicks in?

My guess is whenever sleep deprivation really begins to kick in. I'm going to estimate around 48 hours without sleep, maybe 72 hours if we're being generous here. I don't think it would be full on "insanity", but definitely some hallucinations will pop up. In a scenario where someone gets proper sleep? I feel like that's hard to tell, it's just war of attrition at that point.

Well, for the most part one can chalk it up to a difference in confidence / comfort. If you're more comfortable being with and opening up with other people you're naturally also going to be less careful and more open with how you express yourself. Another potential association is dopamine sensitivity. Apparently research has found dopamine sensitivity differences to be among the biggest causal distinctions between being introverted and extroverted. Expressing your emotions freely is a cathartic experience and therefore I'd assume dopamine is involved (though do take what I'm saying with a grain of salt, I'd don't entirely remember all the neurochemical substances and their typical roles. For instance oxytocin may be more related to this as I vaguely remember it was associated with several parts of social behavior, though I forget which aside from ones pertaining to mimicry) and as such it's possible that extroverted people just get more out of being expressive than introverted people.

Of course all this is simply one part of the story and causes for anything like this are always a complex web to which many factors contribute, plus naturally it's not a universal phenomenon.

Introvert and Extrovert is merely a personality trait. Generally born with. If your someone who has added social anxieties your looking at a diagnosis for a disorder. BUT that deosn't tie into the baseline personality trait of introvert and extrovert.

Introverts who are true introverts not spurned by social anxiety statistically are more : stoic, mindful, and confident. They do not need social validation of others. Where extroverts do.

It is a common myth the introvert is an anxiety ridden individual. Sometimes people are just more social and some are not. There are so many reasons for this.

I would say an introvert understands and value's their time more. Not being swayed by social fuel from others. Where an extravert's value is matched with their social life.

Anything past that, your looking at something else.

Once again, no answers yesterday.

Random question of the day:

Do you think text-based roleplaying will ever pick up in popularity again in the future?
I think text based rping is still quiet popular just cause it's moved say to other sites then forums its still highly popular for some people

I don't really think anyone could fairly make a blanket statement such as "introverts are less expressive than extroverts". That seems like a stereotype and introverts honestly have enough stigma to deal with already.

We don't need to be shamed into being tops to solve the Tops Shortage

Eminem. I used to own two of his CDs growing up, I've never heard of Machine Gun Kelly before.
