Random I

Sarai

RpN's Resident Catechist
Maria Lee sat under one of the pink dogwood trees at the local park. The sun was partly hidden by clouds with a slight cool breez. It was the best weather the small town had seen all year and Maria was enjoying it. She took it all in with a calm smile. There were birds cherping, the wind blew the peddels from the dogwood down making her feel like she was in a snow globe, and in the distance the sound of children playing.

After a moment Maria opens her purse and pulls out a book and begins reading. She felt fully at peace and it was wonderful.

OOC: This RP is closed. Random I is an excorsise where players have no set plot at the begening. Once the plot emerges we begin discussing where to go from there. :) The prefix my be wrong.

Katie Leu thought it would be a wonderful day to take her dog for a walk to the park. She grabbed her leopard-spotted collar and leash set, grabbed a book, then stood by her open door and called for Jody.

"Joddyyy!" She yelled for her tan and white spotted Corgi, and when she came running from the upstairs bedroom, Katie said, "Wanna go outside, sweety? Huh?"

Jody wagged her tail, jumping up and down. When Katie calmed her down and put on the leash and collar, she shut the door and walked through a trail of trees that led to the park just half a mile from her apartment. When she made it to the park, she sat down on the bench next to someone else and let Jody go.

"You don't mind if I sit here, do you?" She asked, stretching her neck a bit to look at the woman with her face in the book.

Maria was jolted from her quite reading as someone sat down and asked rather loudly if they could sit there. Apparently they had a dog with them, who was now running around the park freely.

"Huh..." she said a little annoyed. She tried to go back to her book but her concentration was gone for the dog barking. She waited a moment for the dog to stop and when he stopped she tried to center herself again, looking back down at her book. Then her cell rang loudly with some Matt Maher song. She huffed answering it. "Come on, I get ONE brake!" she said frustrated into the cell.

Katie yelled at the dog to stop barking. Usually she was good and controlled at the park because of her training, but today she was misbehaving. However, when Katie yelled at her and threw her a dog biscuit, Jody sat next to Katie without another sound.

"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know you were on your break. I can go to another bench if you want me to although, I must say," she said, looking at her book, "that you have great taste in books. How much longer is your break?"

Maria tried to listen to the voice on the other end of the call, but that women sitting next to her thought she was talking to her. "What do you mean?" she asked over the phone, "I'm at the park!" she huffed again standing up and looking around, "Are you kidding me?" she looked stressed out. "Bu-but I'm on brake! Can't you send someone else to take care of it?" there was a long pause where Maria looked down at the ground, moving her foot in a circular motion. "Fine, what dose she look like?" another pause as she looked up and turned slowly in place seeming to search each person's faces before she stopped looking right at the women under the tree. "Huh" she said running her hands through her brown curls, "Are you sure? Like how sure?" she fell silent shifting a little as she listened and pushed the dog away from her. "Alright... Okay okay! Don't worry I'm on it!" she looked around the park as she hung up. "Uhm, I think you better come with me." she said slipping her phone in her pocket.

Katie listened to her conversation, confused. Whoever she was talking to seemed to want her.

"Come with you? Why? Well we've only just met. I'm not going somewhere with a stranger. Are you crazy lady?"

She hooked up her dog to the leash and began to walk away, but curiosity got the best of her. She turned around, put her hands on her hips, and looked at the woman.

"What are you, an off-duty cop? You a private investigater or something? If you're working for my ex-boyfriend, you better tell him not to come close. That restraining order is still in effect."

Maria rolled her eyes, and ran to catch up to the women. "Yeah, I'm an off-duty cope, of sorts." she said not sure how else to put it. She never knew how to explain what she did to people. "Look" she said gesturing to herself, "Do I look dangerous?" she asked. She was a thin women who did not look like she worked out a whole lot. It appeared she was almost helpless. That was the point. She raped her arm around the girls shoulders pulling her closer as they began walking, "Look Kat, Can I call you Kat?" she asked starting to usher away from the park and out of the danger she was clearly in. "I just think we should get to know each other after all!" she said then realized she wasn't supposed to know the women's name yet. She hoped the girl would not notice. If she did and she could not convince her that she had in fact introduced herself then Maria was so fired. Her mind spun, maybe she could claim they had met once before?

OOC: If it sounds like I have a plan and know where I am going... I do not.

OOC: LOL @Sarai

Katie didn't know what to do. She was, all of a sudden, being dragged away from the park by some lady who seemed desperate to be around her or take her somewhere. She lookef back to make sure her Corgi wads following. Jody was following happily along, her tongue wagging out of her mouth.

"Kat? Well sure, I guess. Nobody has called me that since my high school days." It was then that she realized she had never told the woman her name. Her eyes widened and her eyes darted back and forth, looking for a way to get outta here! She wasn't a terribly good runner, but she was fit and that was all that mattered.

She dropped her book purposefully in an attempt to convince the woman to let her go so she could pick it up, but Jody picked it up in her mouth before Katie had the chance to even try. She gave her dog a mean look, then turned back around and began to speak.

"Look, I'm much obliged. Honest. I'm flattered that you like me and want to get to know me. But please explain to me who you are and HOW YOU KNOW MY NAME! Who was that person you were talking to? What does he want with me?"

Maria kept walking and pushing Katie along with her, "High school! We went to High school together annnd I haven't seen you in forever!" she lied with confidence. She hated it, but it was necessary. Better to lie to the living then to tell the truth to a walking dead person. "I'm Maria, You remember me!" she said a little too loud speeding their pace up as she noticed someone following them.

"3......" she begun counting under her breath, "2..........." she turned them down a dark ally and quickened their speed even more, holding her even tighter for fear she should try to get away.

"High school?"

She thought for a moment; this was completely plausible. But Katie knew better; the woman was acting far too strange. She let it slide. What had the woman said earlier? She was a cop of sorts? Katie began to think that perhaps the woman was just trying to save her, maybe from her ex-boyfriend who had been in the mafia. When Katie had called it off with him after finding out who he really was, he had threatened to kill her for fear of her telling his secrets. The threats hadn't stopped until she joined the witness protection program two years ago, but maybe he had finally found her.

She decided to go along with what Maria was saying. "Oh I remember you! How have you been? You sure did lose a lot of weight. Good for you!"

"Yeah, it was one of those new diets!" Maria said loudly so the man would hear. Maybe he would figure they were not who he thought they were. She stopped counting as the man began to fall behind. "Oh I've been fine, just fine...." she said glancing behind them and the forward. She slowed them down and loosed her grip. They had stopped and Maria was looking the girl over, "How have you been? I see you got a dog. What's his name?" she asked keeping the act up.

She heard the distinctive sound of a gun being cocked. "1!" she yelled shoving Katie behind an old dumpster. She even kicked the dog back with her. Knelt on one knee behind the corner of the dumpster, in front of Katie to shield her. She cocked her own gun which had been hidden in her purse. She inhaled and as naturally as a bird sung it's song, and took aim and shot the attacker, first a required warning shot and then one deadly blow.

She stood up once the man was dead and went over to him. She kicked the mask off his face, "Crap..." she snapped, "That's not the guy!"

Katie hadn't noticed yet that anyone had been following them. "Its a her actually, and her name is J-"

She didn't get to finish her answer, as she was kicked behind a dirty dumpster. Jody rolled and hit the brick wall behind it, though not hard enough to hurt her. She took her in her arms and then screamed as she heard a gun shot, putting her hands over her ears.

She sat there for a few moments, waiting for something else to happen, but all was quiet now. She peered slowly past the large green dumpster then stood up when she noticed Maria standing over the body.

She walked over, tugging Jody along with her, and stared at the blood spatter around the man. He was blonde, with deep green eyes and bushy eyebrows.

"What do you mean, he's not the guy? Did you bring me here to be your accomplice or something? I ain't takin the rap for this!"

Maria rolled her eyes turning away from Katie for a moment. She took out her phone and begun dialing, "I have a license to kill, I wont be taking the rap for it either." she said punching send and holding it to her ear. "I have K-2387" she said, "But that wasn't the guy.... I asked if you were sure!" she lectured, "Now it's not my fault! YOU SAID!" she yelled waving her first in the air, "You said.." she growled, "You were sure!" there was a pause, "Yeah well, he had a gun and he opened fire! I'm covered for this!" she snapped. Another pause, "Yeah well, it's too late now! She's activated!" she looked back at Katie listening to the voice yell at her, "Well, you can't un-ring a bell..." she held the phone away from her ear wincing as the voice screamed something inaudible at her, "I-" she stammered putting it back to her ear then holding it away again as he yelled again, "I'm hanging up now! I'll see you at head quarters!" she yelled at the phone before hanging up and throwing it against the brick wall. It didn't matter, they'd give her another.

"Come on... We gotta get you out-a here. we'll explain at head quarters. Or maybe they will... I might be fired." she said taking Katie's arm and pulling her around a corner making sure the dog was following. She unlocked an old banged up car and held the passenger door open for Katie to get in, still keeping a watchful look out.

Katie listened intently to the phone call, trying to hearing that was said on the other end. But she was unsuccessful. She wondered if her ex-boyfriend was after how, and how long she was going to be gone from home. Her dog needed to eat, after all. However, she kept her mouth closed until she got inside car. Her dog crawled in behind her, then took a seat on her lap. "Uhm.. How long is this going to take? I haven't fed my dog this morning. She always goes for a walk first." @Sarai

Maria got into the driver's seat adjusting the mirror so she could see Katie in the backseat. She locked the doors and revved up the engage. Her company required child safety to be on so when she has passengers they would be unable to roll down the windows or unlock the door. She huffed at Katie's question, "I don't know..." she sounded a bit annoyed at it all, "It's still not over for me." she said pulling the car out onto the rode. As they got moving she glanced up in the mirror at the girl. She remembered when she was activated. It was scary and for the first time she felt bad. It was not fair what was happening, but what could be done to stop it? "They'll feed you both at head quarters..." she said in a soft voice, "I'll try to convenes them to let you keep the dog." they stopped at a red light and Maria looked back at her, "This isn't ending for you in the foreseeable future Katie. I'm so sorry." she pressed her lips together searching the women's eyes, "I was activated when I was nine. I've not been free since..." she looked back at the rode pushing the memorizes of her family away. She had not seen them in years. They were not needed, only her. @Verdi
