As I said I'm likely not going to participate, and at this point if I did join I'd make a more support-focused power considering so many have good combat capabilities and I like mixing things up. Plus, I don't think esper powers work like that. You could have the same powers without being twins, and I don't even think twins would necessarily have the same power.
Mainly just to confirm what you're talking about; yes, twins if both were esper would most likely have different abilities.

Lol. Well if you change your mind later, I am sure we can find some place where you can join.

I'm just watching this RP as I opted out of joining for a few reasons, but I just wanted to pop in and say that not only do I like your sheet, but the power you chose is the same one I would have ended up going with. Of course I wasn't going to give it as much versatility and have it be weaker and focus on making objects brittle or stronger. But yeah, just wanted to say that for some reason!
Thanks! ^^ Yeah, I'm not honestly the most experienced person when it comes to Raildex only having a very basic knowledge of stuff. The whole powers and abilities did seem to have the whole 'scientific' element behind them to some extent (thus science vs magic) so for me density seemed like an interesting one to have having that sciency feel to it and various applications it could be used for. It was something that could be used in so many ways where simply being about adding and or subtracting the molecules within an object.

But aye, if you did end up wanting to join I don't mind someone else having similar ability, even if its altered in functionality to be a little different. It could be quite interesting to see an ability altered in a way that has a similiar basic functionality but how its achieved leads to different results and potential. ^^ Heck I don't mind with our characters being related if you so like that either. Still if your not really able to for certain reasons I have no problem at all. I just want to make sure I'm not in some part keeping you from taking part in the RP because I unintentionally took a power similar to what you were toying with in your mind.

It's not a problem at all! The main reason I've been hesitant on joining is I've been swamped with personal stuff that'll likely make it tricky fort me to keep up. So yeah, it's of no fault of your own. And I think you did a pretty decent job at it then considering you aren't super experienced. The one thing I'm questioning is that if you were to make an object have low enough density to float, it would likely become extremely brittle/weak and maybe even fall apart depending on the object. Maybe on that last part, I dunno.

Ah okay. Hopefully things clear up a bit for you soon!

I'd see with her power it not falling apart probably though yeah for sure it would be weaker if you made it lighter for sure, the opposite of making stuff denser. So it wouldn't fall apart on its own, but given a little force something made super light would likely break much easier then normal. Kind alike how making stuff denser makes stuff heavier so it would be harder to hold, things being lighter had their own drawback. ^^

Oi cojemo cojemo how are ya? That fate RP going well?
Still not too great, so the Fate RP is still not going. There is no way I'd be able to run an RP at this point, and if I were to join this RP a big part of it would to slowly get back into things and see what I can manage.

I see. Hope things get better for ya!

Raildex, unlike a lot of superpower anime, doesn't have it say everyone's unique. Truly unique powers are rare. Most people have the same power as other people. ESPer powers in raildex are more like hair color in real life, there's variety but you wont be the only blonde in the world. Like Misaka didn't have a unique or special power, she was simply an electromaster. There are thousands of electromasters in academy city. What made her especial was being level 5. Some powers are rarer than others, for example there was only like 40 teleporters in academy city. But others are quite common like water control. So raildex is one rp where you never have to worry about using the same power as someone else. Because unless you're a special snowflake that has a super rare ability, it's guaranteed other people would have the same power you do.

I wonder if anyone else thought about how Monopoly helps teach kids what Capitalism is.

Fun Fact: The game was originally meant to just be crappy, to teach kids not to be greedy and that exploring others is wrong, but ironically changed when it became commercialized

Huh. Never heard about that. I just thought, as I grew older, that it was weird for little children playing a game that teaches what Capitalism is. Also to test the strength of friendships.

Well yes that is true, but I prefer to try and avoid having the same ability for varieties sake ya know? While sometimes it can be interesting, having a plethora of unique abilities is usually what I'd go for.

YEAH BUT THINK ABOUT THIS

WHAT'S MORE UNIQUE THAN NOT BEING UNIQUE IN AN RP?

That wasn't even supposed to be in caps, but I'm sticking with it.

Man, that was my old school philosophy for RP. Everyone wanted to be a special snowflake, so the best way to be unique was to be entirely normal and average. After all, someone who's normal surrounded by a field of snowflakes is the true unique character.

Wouldn't that mean that they are then not normal if they are surrounded by such special snowflakes? Wouldn't they themselves be considered special?

That's the point. The best way to be a special snowflake is to be entirely normal in every way.

Again, Shiage. This is the new age and the best way to be a special snowflake is to do something that's been done already.

I mean, technically for the setting you have to be someone like Vita or Amber, for that to work. The goal isn't to stand out. It's to be normal for the setting. So for raildex being Shiage makes you a special snowflake same as anyone else, because you buck the norm. For raildex to take advantage of the normal factor you need to be, well, normal. In otherwords you need to be a normal esper. There's nothing stand-out about you. You're just a face in a crowd of over 2 million people. Once you have weird powers, or connections, or circumstances then you give up the claim to normalcy as you're no longer normal. After all, your normal esper isn't related to magicians, or have unique super rare powers, or are able to compete with lvl 5s through hard work and guts rofl.

In short, you must look at what the most mundane and average thing is for the setting and then make your character one of those.

Problem there is that you literally become not-the-norm the moment you get involved in the plot, lol. The only way to really catch what you're pitching it to write a slice of life anime. It's also not exactly uncommon for people to go out of their way to create something normal and mundane.

Also reminder that 60% of Academy City Espers are Level 0 and being a Level 4 is not the norm.
