Fantasy Radioactive Wolves of Chernobyl

Tasteless

Boink Bean

Baron sat silently as the morning wind blew through his silky fur, his hazel eyes lost in thought as he stared over the edge of the large cliff that over looked the Decorus territory. He looked like a gargoyle that should have been posted as the protector of a castle. The sun setting in the distance, he inhaled deeply,
Spring. Spring was officially here, and spring brought pups, which meant they could be on the verge of needing more territory. Baron thought about pups, and if him and his mate were ready. He quickly shook off the thought, pups were the least of his problems at the moment. When he stood the muscles under his fur tightened and contracted with ease, his fur slightly fluffed up making him look larger.. or perhaps making him look like a cuddly teddy bear. He shook the grass and moss from his pelt before beginning his steady trot back toward camp, to greet the pack members and his mate once they awakened.

Hera laid silently in the den, surrounded by other pack members who were as well in deep sleep. The frigid morning air tickled her warm nose, she slowly opened her eyes as she rolled over, against another pack member whom she ignored. After a few moments, she released a steady sigh.
Guess its time to get up.. She thought miserably, she never had been a morning wolf. She sat up straight silently, she hesitated, listening to her pack mate's steady, rhythmic breathing. She stood up silently, before carefully proceeding out of the den, the birds were awake, and they made it clear by squawking and screaming to themselves. Hera growled softly to herself and she trotted over to the large rock she always laid on in the morning to warm up. The scent of spring made her pelt prickle uneasily.

"Faster.. FASTER!" Nova barked at the male running behind her, She heard the cry and it chilled her blood. She glanced back, the large wolf held by his back in the massive bear's mouth, the Brute's blood dripping down the bear's maw and onto the forest floor. Grief clutched her heart tightly, she couldn't control herself. She charged the bear, and slammed into its chest, knocking the beast off it's hind legs and onto its back. It released the male wolf, who skidded limply across the dirt. Nova ran toward the wolf but the bear clipped her hind leg, making her slide onto her back, The bear let out a massive roar of anger, as it raised it's massive paws, and brought them down toward her head. Nova's eyes shoot open, her pelt bristling with fear and her cheek fur damp. She quickly flattened her fur, before shakily standing up, her pack mates still sleeping beside her, sighed softly before proceeding out of the sleeping den. The sun glared into her eyes, making her wince. She slowly walked toward a shaded area to rest her trembling legs and to flatten her tail fur.

Conan silently wandered the forest, aimlessly. He hadn't slept that night due to the patrol he went on earlier that day, and they found bear tracks. He wasn't out searching for the bear, hell no. He was just wandering, almost lost in thought. He stopped when the scent of Sicarius made him cringe, he was at the border between then two territories. He sniffed the air for the bear, nothing, not even a Sicarius wolf. Relieved he flicked his ears slightly, before continuing along the border, not crossing it, but walking along it slowly.

Larentia could feel herself waking up, but her eyes refused to open. With much effort she opened one of her piercing icy blue eyes and then with ease the other eye. She lifted her golden head and looked around for her mate, Baron. Larentia was awake but with a huge yawn she released all her drowsiness.

She lifted herself up and stretched her muscles, warming them up. After a good stretch she shook her pelt, ridding of all the tiny pebbles, dirt, and dust that clung onto her beautiful golden fur. Larentia licked her lips feeling her parched lips.

She walked out of the cave that the alphas resided in and glanced down at the land slightly below them where the pack rested. Larentia could hear the slight grumbling of some members not wanting to wake up. She gave a small smile and trotted off to the nearest source of water. Her ears twitched trying to see if she could pick up the sound of her mate's footsteps. Waiting for a few moments she didn't hear anything. She bent her head and lapped up some water still seeking for a sound. Then after she was finished she could hear the heavy footsteps of Baron. She sat down by the stream awaiting for her mate's arrival.

Kago heard some shuffling and grumbling from his pack mates. He, himself, did not mind waking up early. Kago did often always trying to find an opportunity to talk to Hera. But usually chickens out. This morning though, he felt that he had the confidence to do it. Anyways spring time was coming, a good time for pups, and Kago has always wanted pups.

He got up with ease, shaking his fur and walking over some slumbering wolves. Kago saw Hera leave a few minutes earlier before him. He waited the time out just so it didn't seem like he was following her. Kago took a few deep breaths before exiting the den. His yellow-green eyes searched for Hera. Soon he spotted her in her favorite spot. Kago slowly walked over not wanting to disturb her with much noise.

Hera was licking one of her front paws gently, her eyes closed as she did so. The sound of leaves shifting made her ears twitch forward and her dark gaze rested on Kago. Her deep gaze almost burrowing into his as she stared for a moment, she licked her maw before speaking. "Good morning, Kago." She said softly, oh her voice was so smooth, and sweet like honey. Despite her dark fur and her gaze to match, she often seemed brighter then most wolves of her color, who seemed dark and tended to be alone. Her tail wagged lightly, brushing off loose moss from her favorite basking rock. The rising sun made her black pelt glisten beautiful, the light spring wind ruffling it slightly, yet it still happened to look very alluring.

Baron knew Larentia had awoke, he could smell her scent near-by. He followed it slowly, his heavy paws crunching leaves and leaving deep imprints. It didn't take him long to spot her, and her to spot him. He wagged his tail lightly as he approached her, he looked devilishly handsome with his hazel eyes and dark brown pelt. He gently rubbed his head against hers in greeting, "
How did you rest?" he asked softly as he nuzzled her, then crouched beside the flowing water, lapping it up quietly.

He froze in his steps when her eyes fell onto him. A shiver ran through him when her words greeted him. The slight wag of her tail, that was a part of her gorgeous black pelt that he always adored, excited him. Inside he could feel himself wanting to be hers.

Kago could feel his pelt fluffing up, trying to show off its russet, multi-colored pelt. His ears erected higher up and he raised his head up higher. Before his knees could buckle, Kago took a few more steps forward. As he walked he greeted Hera back,
"A wonderful morning to you as well, Hera."

His heart began to constrict tighter in its panicked state as he closed the space between them. Not wanting to intrude too much in her space, Kago sat down a few tail lengths away. His attention was turned to the scenery in front of him rather than Hera, so that he could keep his cool. Kago closed his eyes for a moment as he took in the scent of the forest and breathed out. Feeling a bit more at ease a sudden question escaped him, "Would you care for a walk, if you have no duties to attend to?"

Larentia's tail wagged along with Baron's as he approached her. She muzzled him back when he muzzled her. "I slept well. Dreamt about how our puppies might look like. As well as exploring new lands," she answered.

She bent down and licked Baron's muzzle as he lapped water.
"How are the boundaries, chief?" Larentia often teased him with this nickname. Her icy blue eyes lovingly looked at Baron, pride always held within her vision whenever Baron was around.

Darkness, that's all he could feel. He remembered this night like the back of his hand, the night he nicked his left ear. The night he lost all that he had once had. He remembered the headlights, the car zooming past. His mother had saved him instead of herself, sending him flying from the impact. He hit a branch, a painful sting coursing though his ear as he fell towards the ground.

Jolting awake, Fang shook his head to get rid of the memory. He constantly relived that night over and over again, but mostly in his sleep when is dreams came the most vivid. He sighed as the bright sun his eyes, causing him to squint as he pushed himself off the cold floor. Sometimes being a beta was lonely, and on top of that, he was aggressive and authoritative. Not that many people wanted to even be around him. He sighed as he walked towards the entrance to his cave, peering out over the quiet camp

Haven had woken up fairly early in the morning, to concerned to sleep. Deciding to take a walk near the border may have been a dangerous move, but she needed to clear her head. She sighed, walking until she found a small lake to sit by. Looking down at the water, she sighed as her nose brushed the surface gently. "I wish I had more luck finding a mate." She whispered to herself.

Hera hesitated, something was off with this male. She could feel his uneasiness around him, her pelt prickled slightly. She thumped her tail against the rock, "Yes, let us walk." she said as she rose to her paws almost elegantly, before leaping off the rock and beside him. She landed with a soft thud, oh how she had always been so light on her paws. Even as a pup she was quite the gifted runner, but not the one who would fight over a scrap of meat against her litter mates. Sadly enough, Hera used to have siblings, another sister, and two older brothers who often pushed her around for being so slender and lean, yet the three had died the first winter the litter faced, which was one of the hashes winters the pack had seen. Hera's father had been the beta before her, he had passed about quite a few moons back from Black Cough.

She slender, sleek black coated she-wolf almost brushed against Kago, her fur smelling of maple and what seemed to be lemons. Which made sense, she often laid under the lemon tree that had been around ever since she was a pup. She found the scent comforting. She swiftly flicked Kago with her lushes tail, before trotting toward the forest. Her silky fur bouncing elegantly, her paws barely leaving marks in the soft camp dirt below her.

Baron's scarred ears flicked as his mate mentioned pups, oh how he adored and yearned for pups, yet he never felt he would be fit enough to be a father. "The.. Boundaries." He muttered, before pushing back the thought of puppies once more. "Ah, yes. Patrol them with me?" he asked softly as he rose to his paws, he was quite the large wolf. He was not only tall but muscular, and his fangs were a warning to many. He had gotten into a border brawl more recently with was possibly a rouge male, looking to mate with the lonelier females of his pack. He hasn't seen the scrawny male since, yet, if he were almost torn apart by another, larger male wolf, Baron wouldn't return either.

Nova's eyes lifted when Fang peered from the seclusion of his den. He was quite a brute, and large, and handsome at that. She adverted her eyes as she curled her soft tri-colored tail around her right hind leg, and began to lick on of her front paw's pad. She had recently torn it while on a patrol, stepping on the thorn bushes here were incredibly painful, Nova of all wolves knows that for a fact now.

Coran silently trotted along side the border, he soon came to the clearing where he noticed the beautiful she-wolf crouched over the edge of the lake. He pinned his ears back shyly, it was Haven. He silently walked along the forest trees, careful to blend himself in with the dark shadows as he watched his alpha, she seemed almost.. sad? He glanced to her and at the exact moment, his paw crushed a branch beneath him. He froze, fearful of being accused of spying.

Kago nearly fainted when Hera passed by him so close, their pelts brushing against one another. The pleasant scent of maple and lemon is one of the things he loved about her. He often wondered what he smelt like. His siblings before would teased about his pink nose and how he smelt like a female. This offended him many times. But now being lead fighter, his siblings have backed down on their remarks now residing as members below him. Pushing the thought of siblings behind, he got up and slowly followed Hera.

His tail wagged lightly, contented that they can be together alone for a bit. An improvement from just a figment of his imagination to real life. Smoothly he eased into step right beside her.

Walking right beside her he saw that he was slightly taller than her, and was more muscular, which made sense since he was lead fighter. His intimidating yellow-green eyes and russet multi-colored pelt would've intimidated any wolf except that his pink nose ruined his appearance. Kago's eyes glanced at Hera from the corner to see any hint of fondness. For the most part all he could feel was a pack courtesy, nothing more. Kago gave an inward sigh.
She's going to be one tough cookie.

Larentia bowed her head, "Yes sir." She stood up and licked his muzzle a few more times before she stepped back a bit. Larentia walked past Baron, brushing purposely against him. She lifted up her golden tail and tickled his nose. "Shall we?" she said as her icy blue eyes twinkled mischievously.

Hera could feel his gaze on her, her pelt prickled slightly with anticipation. She glanced to him, her golden eyes almost burning with something.. was it passion? or maybe it was mischievousness. They were a ways from camp before she smirked, Showing off her white fangs that glinted in the sun almost menacingly. "So what is the real reason you invited me on a walk?" she questioned as they neared the boarder side by side, On a patrol or not, It was always rewarding to check the scents to ensure no rival pack has trespassed.

Baron hesitated, his mate's tail brushing under his chin made his fur prickle slightly. He watched her carefully, before pushing himself onward. He walked by her side toward the borders to mark the territories. His eyes were deep and almost mysterious, was he hiding something withing himself? or was he just reserving himself from his mate for no reason.. well, there is always a reason behind Baron's actions.

~InkHeart~

A rumbling snarl erupted from the depths of her abdomen, resounding across the space between she and the brute before her. His hauntingly blue eyes seared into her soul as if he could sense her fear. She placed her paws firmly on the soil and raised herself to her full height, snarling all the louder. The menacing sound seemed deafening in the stillness. Nature itself had gone silent. Not a sound was made by anything other than the two rivaling beasts.

She felt her fur prickle in not rage...but fear. They had found her! She'd known it would happen sooner or later, but she had hoped for the later. Fate, however, had a way of brutally crushing dreams. InkHeart watched carefully as the dark brute crouched in preparation of an attack. His moves were predictable and sloppy, easily avoided by her skill and mastery. The moment he sprang towards her, she ducked left and whirled around in a counterattack. All of which was done in the same amount of time it took the clumsy male to steady himself from his landing.

He was all brawn no skill. Pure muscle and nothing more. She felt a sly grin creep up on her face. This would be easy. He sprang again, this time to the left, as if to catch her as she ducked, but she was two steps ahead of him. As he went left she leaned right, reached down and caught his neck between her dagger-like canines. There was a shrill yelp followed immediately by a loud snap and then the brute fell limp in her muzzle. Blood spilled into her mouth and she dropped the corpse onto the ground.

His now lifeless blue eyes stared off into nothingness, for he would never live to see the light of a new day. InkHeart shook the loose blood from her snout, spitting the copper taste onto the ground. Her claws raked against the dirt as she stepped over his body. She bent down over his neck, gripping it firmly in her maw. Then in one quick jerk of the head, she swung his body into the river. She stood there at the bank, watching as he drifted off. Forever gone from this world. Then just as she turned away, it hit her. What would come if the pack she belonged to found out about her and the thing's she'd done...

Fang surveyed the camp, his eyes finally resting on Nova, who was licking his paw. He would have avoided her, but he felt it would damage his relationship with the pack and the she wolf. Besides, it beat sitting there for no reason whatsoever. With ease, he trotted over to her form, giving a nod of greating. "Good morning Nova." He said quietly but with his usual harsh tone that always sounded like he was scolding someone.

Haven's head snapped at the sound of a twig snapping underneath a careful paw. She growled, barring her teeth and dropping her head low to the ground, surveying the area. But when her eyes landed upon Coran, her gaze softened, her lip curling back into place. She stood from her spot by the water, walking towards him. "Out for an early patrol?" She asked.

Nova looked up at Fang, her gaze flickered slightly. "Good Morning, Fang." She said softly, her ears drawn forward as if in surprise the brute had addressed her in general, she opened her maw to say something else but as the wind that gently blew her fur, it also blew the scent of blood. Her pelt prickled uneasily as she glanced about, she sat up slowly, as if attempting not to look nervous in front of her over-seer. The scent steadily became thicker, tainting the warm, sweet smelling breeze of spring. The smaller she-wolf looked up at Fang, as if questioning if she could smell the blood that traveled so thickly now it made her stomach churn with disgust.

Conan flicked his ears once she had spotted him, he carefully stepped out from the forest, the sun gleamed down on his fur, his bright golden eyes burning, oh he was devilishly handsome. He bowed just slightly, before meeting her gaze respectfully. "Yes, Alpha." Which was true, he had walked the boarder of the packs without any trouble, yet he hadn't been focusing to well either, despite the fact it was a half-assed patrol. The air becoming tainted with fresh blood made his fur crawl. He glanced toward where the scent was strongest, the bushes were still as well asthe trees, yet farther along was the bloody scene.

Fang looked at her, suddenly picking up the scent of blood on the wind. "What is that?" he whispered, his gaze drawing in the direction of the smell. It reminded him of his dream, which caused him to shake his head. "We should go find it. Your paw alright to move?" He asked mustering his most gentle voice for the injured she wolf.

Haven smiled at him, trying to be friendly. "Well that's good. Cain has been busy, per usual so I have been just walking around." She lied, looking at the ground. She whished Cain would sometimes be a bit more receptive and at the least a bit more caring to her. She then smelt blood, fresh blood, which caused her head to snap towards the area it came from. "We should go check it out." She said.

Real reason...

Kago's ears twitched nervously. His eyes shifted from left to right but never landing on Hera.
"For an obvious reason really," Kago began. Great you're about to chicken out again...

"To sharpen our fighting skills," Kago finished. Stupid!

"Since the other pack has been teasing the borders I feel that we could sharpen up on fighting. Eventually everything leads to a fight," Kago answered his eyes darkening as he spoke. His lifted tail slowly descended. The fact that just a moment ago he was worried about a mate was petty, although he still is yearning, the fact that as lead fighter he must ensure that his wolves are prepared for the worst.

His nose lifted up a few times as he talked, cautious about the border and what inhabits it.

Larentia glanced back at Baron. Distracted is what he looked like at the moment. Something is disturbing him. Must I ask? Her eyes continued to shift from the path in front of her to Baron.

Her fur ruffled uncomfortably from the atmosphere around Baron. Quickly she turned around and faced him, her icy blue eyes boring into him.
"Baron, what is the matter?"
