Quick question?

I have a question. This may sound a little stupid, but I was wondering what is the best way to start a role? Like start it off. I am not very good at that. And I want to get better at it. And any help would be a great help to me. Thank you for taking the time to help.

Well, before you go ahead and create the actual RP, you should head over to the Interest Checks forum and make a thread about your idea (how much you describe it is up to you) and see if people would be interested in it. If so, you can ask for feedback, unless you already have a pretty good idea what you want to do.


Once you receive enough feedback (that depends on how many people you want in your RP at once), you can go ahead and make the actual RP. I would also suggest you keep all your players in a Group Conversation, so that they always are up to date on the Rp and can interact. I've found that people are way more likely to interact when in an secluded environment, unlike the RP's OOC section, which is more public.


Other than that, there isn't much else. Talk to your players, get to know them, so you can figure out a way to both satisfy your ideas about the RP and maintain their interest!

I am slightly confused by the vagueness of your post... but I will try to answer with a bit of an assumption. When you you say starting a role, I take that as meaning getting into character and staying in character. Basically just focus on what your character ultimately wants. The basis of a character is their motivation. Your character should be doing things that further their motivation. Also, you should decided some main attributes for your character and really work those into what your character does and how they behave around others. For example, if your character is extremely shy, maybe you won't be approaching the other character the first time they meet. Or if your character is very charismatic, you might openly approach other characters and just start talking.


I hope I helped, but maybe if you could expand on exactly what it is you are asking, that would help other people trying to help you.

@Nikkola I think you misunderstand. You see, H8 is asking how she might find partners for an RP. On RPN, it is common for people to create characters AFTER they have found a partner and established what their RP will be about. Then, they create characters appropriate to that setting. Here, H8 is asking how she might advertise for an RP, as to find players for it. You can already have a character and then find a partner, it's a freedom you have and can make use of.

@Ayl I was just pointing out that exactly what she was asking was more or less unclear, so I attempted to answer the question as I read it. She asked how to start a role... which could mean a multitude of things. I have a tendency to percieve things differently than most people I guess.
