Basically, I'd just like to know if there is a limit to the "storage space" or number of threads one can make in their private workshop.

So long as users post no more than 4,294,967,295 posts in total, I think it should be okay - maybe even as high as 18,446,744,073,709,551,615. I would have to check the code to be sure, though. So go ahead and make as many as you want.

Wow I ran some math, and assuming about 24 people join the site per day and each make 6 threads with 2 posts each, that's about 30000 years of RPN running no problem. Pretty impressive.

Well we might run into some performance issues after the first billion points with that much data, but yes, basically it's not a pressing concern.
