Julianna is not happy. Ever since she was selected by the current king to be his bride, she felt trapped in the castle, and hated those who put her in that position. However, she keeps her hatred and despair concealed under a smiling veneer of queenly dignity. She is highly intelligent- the only reason that she never tried to leave Illea is that she would almost certainly be recaptured. She is also fiercely loyal to her sons, who are the only people that she still loves. She tends to go through the motions of life with a practiced ease.
