Fandom Puella Magi: Universe

Max clapped her hands and rubbed them together. "Excellent," she hissed. She paused. "Wait, I'm gonna bet you've beaten that already. Do... Do you have Adventure of Link?" She said, feeling pretty sadistic. And not in the I'm sacrificing people to what can barely be considered a life of torture and turning them into mindless monsters for the sake of the universe and hey these people probably have families and people that need them but whatever, Kinda sadistic, but the fun kind.

Tsubaki nodded. "Really I just don't have the DS games or the Oracle games." She paused for a moment, "Or Link's Awakening either. Yeah, missing most of the handheld games but meh." She pulled out a pink Famicom cartridge and set it on the desk next to the first one. "Mmm," Tsubaki flipped through the different cartridges for a moment before setting out a grey Super Famicom cartridge. "Triforce of the Gods too while we're at it."

"That's... Link to the Past, right?" She forwent her previous sadism as she filled with giddiness. "Oh man, I haven't played that one in a long time! That one was great!"

"Yeah, never understood the title change." Tsubaki shrugged before motioning to the desk, "Got all the other console ones too, pick your poison. Not like I'll be sleeping tonight anyway. May as well have some kind of fun." Besides, playing some of her favorite games with someone else that clearly enjoyed them would probably help get her mind off of things.

"What a pick it will be..." She said aloud as she thought. "Man, WindWaker's always been a favorite of mine, but I haven't played Link to the Past in forever... Triforce of the Gods it is!" Max said as she put it into the Super Famicom. Once upon a time, I put Link to the Past into a Super Nintendo. Now I'm putting Triforce of the Gods into a Super Famicom. Culture. She took another bite of her food, being almost done with it as she'd been eating periodically throughout the conversation, and took the time to crack open her soda.

Yui hears somebody at the door and comes out to check. "Mom who at the door?" Yui days as she opens the door to her room and go to the top of the stairs.

"Oh yui you have a friend at the door."

"Thanks mom. Katja and i will be in my room. We be talking about school and stuff." Yui lied but she knew telling her mom of kyubey and her wish be a mistake.

" okay dear. I bring snacks up later. What you like to drink katja?" Say yui's mom.

"Come on my room to the right" say yui to katja.

Tsubaki nodded before switching wires around and holding the controller out to the other magical girl. "I think two files are still empty on it, not sure though, haven't played in forever." She retrieved her lemonade before putting pillows against the wall and leaning back. After a moment she pulled out her soul gem and gave it an annoyed glare. "There's really got to be an easier way to carry this thing than having a couple hundred gram rock in your pocket. It's too hot for hoodies anymore."

Max grabbed the controller and sat down next to Max. "Shorts help, but I dunno. My magical girl outfit has a very convenient pouch for it, but otherwise... hmm... that might be a pet project of mine. Make a carrier for soul gems. I imagine just about any old pouch would do, but why not add a touch of finesse to it, huh? I'll let you know where I get with that one," she said as she booted up the game.

" Tea would be nice" Katja said as she went up to the second floor then the the room Yui directed. This was about where Katja's social graces ended though it was enough she was at least able to be polite, she just had zero ability to read the mood in normal life. So in normal katja fashion she would get right to the point.

" i came because you were not ok, when Max revealed the origin of some Yoma, You seemed to be having prior regrets so i decided checking on you would be a good idea " She said seemingly having a hard time finding the correct words

"Now why don't all of us actually have armor instead of . . . whatever the hell everyone else seemed to end up with? Some protection against monsters..." She huffed, rolling the gem in her hand. "I mean if I could just shrink it down or something that would work too." Tsubaki shrugged, looking back to the screen. "Oh good, there are still two files left open." She leaned forward slightly, "Wonder if they changed anything else outside of the title."

Max grinned. "Yeah, I'm happy I got what I got. It was really helpful today, it cushioned the Yoma's blows a lot. Depends on the Yoma though, it could end up being a nuisance someday. Who knows?" She said, as she began thinking of the large list of Yoma that will appear in the future and wondered which would be her downfall. Unless, of course, they made it to the Beltane alive and used it to somehow end this all. She considered mentioning to Tsubaki that the Beltane might be able to end this, if the wish was careful enough, but decided against it. She didn't want to get their hopes up until she had a plan.

"You know what's a bigger mystery, and a less depressing one at that? Whether anything else changed! Let's jump in." She pressed the button and was forced to choose a name. "Hmm... I usually choose either Link or Max... what do you think?"

"I'm pretty partial to Link myself." Drink finished, she stood and gathered the empty plate as she did. "I'll be right back, want anything?" Part of her was half tempted to offer something a little stronger than lemonade. But she wondered how something like that would effect them given they're not totally human anymore. Or they were, and were just . . . never could get a yes or no answer on that one.

"Think I'm good for now," Max said. She'd only just cracked open her soda, so it was still relatively untouched. "You go on, I'll get it started up. Link it is!" Max said as they selected the name and began the dream sequence.

Even in the kitchen she could easily hear the music and pictured the raging storm as Link would sneak into the palace. Funny how after so many years she still remembered the sequence. It really wasn't a bad opening to a game, Tsubaki liked it more than the opening sequence of Ocarina of Time. And that was a game she'd beaten more times than she cared to try counting. Dishes in the sink and lemonade replenished, the girl didn't waste much time in slipping back into her room taking care not to block the screen or snag any cords as she walked by. One of these days she was going to mod some of her controllers and turn them into wireless ones...

As Max snuck into the castle, she considered what small talk to make. There was big talk to be had, and lots of it, but now wasn't the time. Yui wasn't a fan of her right now, and Katja was just a mindless drone (she'd have to fix that some day.) Arashi probably doesn't like her, given her stance on the incubators. So Max was happy to have at least one person she could call a friend.

Friend with Benefits, She immediately thought in her head. She chuckled a bit to herself. Did her dirty mind know no bounds? Anyway, she settled on some basic small talk.

"So what's your favorite LOZ game?" She said. "This one's pretty great, but is it your favorite?"

"Damn, opening up with the mean questions aren't you?" She teased before trying to think a moment. "Well Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are high up there because they're some of the first games I ever played when I was little. Wind Waker's great outside of how slow sailing is and the remake took care of that complaint." She closed her eyes in feigned concentration, "I'd probably have to pick Majora's Mask if we were looking for favorites. Good story, surprisingly developed characters, and Oni Link. Can't go wrong with Oni Link." Her crimson gaze shifted over to Max, "Now what's yours?"

" i am fine." Yui says not even convince of that being true. She found out that she saracific everyone on the planet for her brother. It a kick to the stomach for her. " i did get exactly what i wanted didnt i. It not max's fault. But turning people into monsters just to save the universe. It is wrong. Dont you see that?" Yui says as her eyes begin to tear up again.

"Following up with the mean question, huh?" She teased back. "Well, most people say it's the first Legend of Zelda game that you play that's your favorite. Mine was Phantom Hourglass... so that bias is removed. Not a bad game, but nowhere NEAR top tier LOZ." She considered for a few moments. "I'm gonna go with Wind Waker. I don't know, I think it was the art style and the combat. Combat felt very fluid in that game, and the sense of adventure was real in ways I don't think the other games really captured."

"Makes sense, how'd you like the remake?" Tsubaki was once again playing with her soul gem. Though she noticed it seemed a little brighter and warmer than a few hours ago. Though she just brushed it off as her imagination. "Combat was pretty good in Wind Waker, I really enjoyed the final battle. Not to mention Ganondorf was actually painted as more of an anti-hero than an outright villain like he normally was."

She peeked out the window, noticing the setting sun was no longer in a place to glare at them through the window and stop them from seeing the game. "But I think I liked the combat in Twilight Princess more. Story was much better in Wind Waker though." She felt an already familiar tug in the back of her mind. "Hell, already?"

" i long ago came to acceptance of this fact, but I would say it is because you have this reaction that you were picked in a way." Katja said having thought about it for awhile she did notice something odd kyubey could pick anyone any kid any where to be magical girls and not everyone had moral like most magical girls did. Some magical girls because cold heart-ted and sadistic but very few started out that way. " Think of it Kyubey could easily track down serial killers while they are kids, find those that enjoy hurting others and tell them everything and only make it better for them, but he doesn't instead he jumps though hoops to pick girls like you instead of them" She said trying top get out her idea that perhaps they shouldn't like it.

" Still you are not sacrificing a world for you brother, you are trying to save both and with max we can " Katja explained though she didn't know how to do that but surely max would.

"Depends on which version of Twilight Princess you play. But Ganondorf was a good villain in Wind Waker. Only other good depiction I can think of was in Ocarina, but he felt like a background character for most of the game. In Wind Waker he was like a looming threat." She then looked over at Tsubaki. "What already?"

"Yoma," Tsubaki muttered, standing. "Couldn't they wait a game or two?" She started for the door, ""Should probably take care of it before anyone else dies. Can come back to this in about an hour, not like we have the worry about the console overheating or laser burn or any of the crap." Taking a breath, she transformed and went into slip space. Once Max joined her, she added in an attempt to keep the mood somewhat light, "And let's not go talking about Ganondorf in Twilight Princess because that was utter bullshit."

Max appeared next to Tsubaki and nodded. "Deal." She cracked her neck and sensed around in an attempt to find the Yoma.

Once outside, Tsubaki looked up and down the empty street, trying to get a hold on where the Yoma was. "I'm thinking North, to North-East. Hopefully we'll get a better idea once we're a little closer." She already started running along the road, silently thankful for the great increase in speed and stamina her new form had given her. Not to mention running in pants was much easier than some of the dresses the others ended up with for some unknown reason.

Max ran alongside Tsubaki as they tried to locate the Yoma. They made the very occasional turn, but for the most part it was all one direction. Eventually, they happened upon it. It was a six winged creature, it looked like an angel that had been twisted and broken. A fallen angel. It had sharp claws.
