" We are but at least you realize it, humanity requires selfishness to progress, the ability to desire is something that makes one human without it you can not change, you can not move forward" Katja said sounding almost like an old wise woman despite her lack of any feeling or conviction in her words " But you saved your more than i saved mine, still if i could go back to that day with a clear mind i would still make my wish it was selfish yes, but if i had not who knows how many might have been killed, gotten hurt or been turned into Yoma. " She said people tended to fixate on the bad that their wish may have hurt others and not see all the good they did " Had i not made my wish Yoma would still come and go others would become magical girls and i would have most likely taken my own life, remember not only the bad but the good you do it is the good that should matter, not the bad " She said once more mentioning what she believed woudl have happened without her becoming a magical girl.

" thank you for helping me understand. So how I dont feel as guilty as i did. We might be selfish for wanting to save our love ones but we are also heroes cause we save people from becoming monsters and protecting people from them." Yui says as they approach yui's residents. " this is my place katja. I see you tomorrow."

" You are welcome, should you desire to talk more" Katja said pulling out a bit of paper and writing a number on it " You can call me " She said handing it to Yui before heading off herself. While others might think that Katja gave her number out of some attachment or kindness, she did not she saw Yui are the most emotionally unstable of the team she needed extra watching. A way of watching Someone that seemed like kindness, Kyubey must be rubbing off on her for her to be so devious. With that thought Katja walked off a distance before shifting back into slip space, if only to get back home in an instant rather than walk all the way there.

The next day after school

Another day at school, was just wasted hours for Katja, she had no real passion to pursue to make classes worth really trying in, passing was expected but really trying was not worth. Now she at least was able to resume her job that gave her any sort of purpose these days she didn't feel any satisfaction but it kept her distracted and gave her some way to spend her time. Katja for a moment wondered which she shoudl do look for her team or start her rounds, in the end she just went with her rounds as she could find her team while she did it and she would be doing her work. She didn't favor one option or the other just one let her do more work at once so she in the end saw rounds as the most logical solution.

The entire class's jaws hung open as Max lowered her chalk. She looked it over, double and triple checking, before smiling and turning to the teacher. On the board was almost an incoherent set of scribblings on mathematical functions and diagrams which none of the students understood, and hardly even the teacher understood. Originally Max had been proving the teacher wrong on a specific concept, but it kind of devolved. Max had no idea how she'd gotten to where she was currently, but she was pretty sure that somewhere along the way she solved a lot of really complex math functions and kind of explained some quantum mechanics. Oops. Eh, no harm no foul. It was a passion subject of her's.

With that, school ended and Max left to the still stunned faces of her classmates and teacher. She exited the school building with a content sigh and pulled out her soul gem. It was fitting, she supposed, that it looked like a neuron. She mulled over her power. She was incredibly happy to have her intelligence, it was even more than she thought, but telekinesis was a lame ass power. Oh well, she thought. With the knowledge she had, she'd hardly even NEED magic.

She placed the soul gem back where it belonged: in a small pocket in her body on her chest. She placed it under her shirt and into a little spot, which was covered by a small piece of armor. To her, it wasn't a piece of jewelry to flaunt around. It was her heart... her soul. So it was as protected as possible.

Nothing different has happen yui while at school. She wasnt the most popular girl at school. Actually that kind of a understatement. She didnt have friends her own age at all. She was teased and made fun of because she prefer to be alone. Yui decides to take katja up on her offer and calls her. Yui takes out her phone and dials the number. "Hello?, is this katja."

Despite being in slip space katja could still receive calls, she didn't pretend to understand the science but she did admit she understood why it would be so as most contractor were underage girls leaving them without a way to call their parents to avoid suspicion was a good idea. That being said she got a call, though she wasn't sure who it could be a quick thought revealing who it could be with ease only one person aside from the hospital had her number and this was not the hospital's ring tone.

Katja quickly moved out of slip space realizing only then that she shouldn't have been possible, but well once again she didn't understand it but it made sense to avoid problems, though she couldn't get it in slip space and had to leave slip space making it not the best design but it worked. " Hello Yui did you need something?" Katja asked of course thinking the only reason she would be called was because she was needed.

After a day of pretty much nothing, Arashi stared blankly at the clouds above. Considering her condition, her parents forbade her from going to school. Arashi was not about to argue considering she still felt a little tired despite having the day to rest. She slowly blinked as the leaves rustled in the wind. It was a gorgeous day: bright sun, drifting clouds, birds chirping, wind gently blowing on the trees and the moors.. She loved nature. Looking down on the grass below, she watched as they bent in waves, pulsating from one direction and flowing all the way across to the other side of the hill, sort of like a sound wave.

With a small stretch, she decided that she needed to get to work; couldn't lounge around all day! Hopping down from the branch, she landed in a crouch, letting her legs soften the blow, before standing up and brushing her hair to the side. Now for a light hunt. She was somewhere in the land between her village and the city, so she couldn't decide which way to go. City yomas were more interesting, but last night she had let one attack her own people. Perhaps it would be best to stay, just to make sure they were safe.

However, all was quiet in her peaceful town. Arashi was relieved, yet anxious as to when the next one would arise. She, of course, was appalled that the birth of a yoma decreased their population by one, but it was an unavoidable truth. She would never tell her family the tragedies of her profession. With another stretch, she was feeling much more awake. So, she headed back towards the city to get more things done. Besides, the city magical girls couldn't get them all. Just look at the population size!

Tracing her fingers along a banister, she walked through the now familiar park, listening to the casual laughter of children as they ran around and the scolding of parents as they strayed too far. But her mind was elsewhere. She couldn't help but think... No. This wasn't the time for that. She stopped suddenly, almost frozen in time. Turning her head outwards of the banister, she saw a pristine pond, shrouded in delicate yet colorful flora in the middle of a flower garden. She leaned on the banister with her arms, putting her weight on one foot as she examined the serene scene before her. Of course there was beauty in the world. Plants and animals didn't have to suffer like she did. Okay so maybe they did, but not psychologically.

Arashi was distracted long enough to get caught off guard, and she found herself on the ground clutching her abdomen. What just happened? She looked up to find a large shadow blocked by the sun surrounding it, which struck her as odd considering she hadn't remembered going into slip space. As she recalled, she noticed that she had transformed as well. How peculiar. Disregarding that, she got up as quickly as she could and jumped back, allowing herself time to analyze the situation.

it appeared to be some sort of walking tree, with roots as its method of motility and canopy its source of weapons. The trunk itself bore several mysterious black strips, irregular and sinister in nature. Before she knew it, the tree was striking her with one of its massive branches. But she felt like she hadn't looked away for more than a second! Something was off here, and as she stood back up, she tried to figure out why.

Kuybey appeared near Max he didn't care for the wish as the incubators had used up far more than their share of energy saving this planet from the backlash that her wish had caused, the fact her mind was only a little scrambled was just the barest amount of backlash.

" It is time for you to fulfill your end of the contract, Max you owe us so very much energy after that wish of yours" Kyubey said in the same tone as ever though if kyubey did have emotions it could be said he was annoyed over the waste of the energy used on the wish.

Max grinned and looked at Kyubey. "Yeah, yeah, I know. Give me a moment, I'm trying to decide which Yoma to go after... let's see, one should be showing up right outside the city. Dunno when, but I imagine it's pretty soon, if not already. It's gonna be a toughie. Might as well take care of it before someone gets themselves killed." Max picked up a small stone and began walking towards where it would, or had, shown up as she tossed the stone in the air and caught it, repeating this process multiple times.

Tsubaki sat in the grass of a park in slip space. Her Soul gem glowed faintly as cuts and bruises healed and torn armor worked to mend itself. Okay, I really don't like taking those bastards on alone... Shaking her head, she purified her soul gem and laid back in the grass. Three yoma kills now . . . three people... The teen shook her head, rubbing her eyes.

" Actually i have come to talk to you about more than just slaying Yoma, you see your wish has changed what is an acceptable expense and we want to withdraw physically from this city in all but the gathering of grief seeds. " Kyubay said appearing on Max's shoulder " We have determined that because of your wish and the resulting knowledge that you would make an excellent proxy for my normal duties " Kyubey continued " You will answer questions, direct the team, and of course plant seeds"

Max continued walking towards the Yoma, but it was still a good ways away. She continued tossing the rock in her hand. "Let's say, for a moment, that I took you up on that offer," Max said as she tossed the rock up and caught it. "There's still a problem. I can't make more magical girls, not like you. If the girls were to die, then that would be that." Toss, catch. "Though I must say, this speaks volumes about your trust in me."

" This is not about trust and this is not an offer, you will act as our proxy do well and you may act as our face as an energy saving measure, preventing an extinction event takes a lot of energy. For now you will take on minor duties as told, not that you could resist telling the others about what you learned and you will plant seeds to reduce your debt faster, and you will repay us not even death will get rid of it" Kyubey said showing this was not a friendly idea but rather a demand he would have fulfilled " Or should we bring the backlash back that meteorite could always be come back"

Max kept walking and chuckled under her breath. "Yeah, had a funny feeling I didn't have a choice in the matter." One upside to the wish, or perhaps it was a downside, she couldn't tell anymore, was that Max had learned the bigger picture. Much of her subjectivity had gone. As such, there was a part of her that agreed with what the incubators were doing. After all, humans meant nothing in the big picture. 'Course, the human part of her wasn't as happy. She supposed she'd have to learn to shut that part of her up, at least in part, for her new job. Good thing she'd carefully considered the, "no personality change" part of her wish. That could have ended badly either way. "Besides, there's some element of a bluff to your statement. After all, you can't sow a seed when there's no more ground to put it in. Part of me really wants to smack you with this rock..." She continued tossing it nonetheless. "But the other part of me is smarter than that. I made my choice when I signed up for this gig."

Max had thought through a lot of things with her wish, but unfortunately one slip up has earned her a life time as the first human incubator. In the end though, she supposed she was grateful Kyubey did that instead of causing armageddon. She'd do her part to make up for her screw up. Besides, if she broke even with the energy gained, she might just be let go of this new job. Even with this new intelligence, she couldn't read Kyubey's mind, so who knew? One way or another though, she'd get the job done.

"So," she said as she walked along. "Anything you need me to do as an incubator right now, or can I just continue my magical girl duties?"

" You are not an incubator yet, and i am sure you are glad you can never truly be one, you humans prioritize individuality far to much to ever be Incubators , You will instead be an envoy of ours" Kyubey corrected he had for a second considered changing her into an incubator, but that would be a determent to the whole as she would be far to much of an unpredictable variable. " For now you will just have to be a magical girl, do inform the other of my absence and do as you please your first seeds will arrive tonight Kyubey said before vanishing.

"Ah, you know what I mean," Max said. "Obviously I'm still human, just Incubator in job." She said. Then Kyubey disappeared and Max looked at her watch. 4:15. Depending on when he defines "night," I have at least 3 hours, more likely 5. Might as well spend them well. Time to go kill some Yoma! Max picked up the pace as they began approaching the Yoma which Arashi happened to be battling.

" ahh! No i dont need anything really. I was wondering if we could meet up. I dont want to be home today." Yui's family wanted to do a family thing, but with everything going on she felt closer to others like her at the moment.

" Very well we can meet up at either the tea shop or my home, either one is acceptable" Katja said having no problem inviting someone who was simply a coworker to her home, it wasn't like she used any room except for her bedroom anymore, she just couldn't find a reason to do so when she could be working. " it is your choice i can't care for one over the other"

" ummm, your house sounds great to go to, but how do i get there." Yui feeling happy for the first time outside slip space. An older girl wanting her to come to the girl house. She also knew katja probably didnt share the same feelings yui did.

" I will text you an address, most phones these days have a GPS so you can get a map to it with ease" Katja explained. She then hung up, not exactly being one for polite goodbyes or not even realizing she was being rude anymore as she had found pretending to be polite to be more trouble than it was worth. She lacked social skills why should she pretend she cared in the least or had any. Either way she did make good on her word and texted Yui the address, figuring in her own way that having the text would work better than having her have to repeat the address over and over.

Arashi didn't quite know what happened. It was almost like the tree could sense what she was about to do, then counter it just as quickly as she initiated her plans. All water appeared to make it grow stronger, so she couldn't use most of her magic to her advantage. By the time she tried wind or lightening, the tree had grown too powerful and resilient from the water to be affected enough to make it even stumble. The lightening was merely dispersed through the ground via its roots, acting like a storm rod, and the wind didn't affect it whatsoever. Now, she was hopelessly pinned against another tree by its branches, and struggling had proved almost completely futile. she threw chakra at the branches just as fast as she could summon them, hoping to break them with all she had left. Her soul gem was quickly gaining grief, but she had no other choice. The branches were starting to chip away, but she didn't know if she could fend it off before either her soul gem clouded completely or it crushed her between its strength and the tree it had pinned her against.

(I just want to clarify that this yoma was an overprotective mother that always thought she knew best for her children. That is why she can anticipate movements and such)

Yui suddenly feels a strong sense of negative emotion and a magical girl fighting. " this cant be it so overwhelmingly strong for one magical girl." Yui quickly text katja back. " there a strong yoma in our city i join you later." Yui quickly transforms to her magical girl form and enters slip space. She begans her search for the battle going.

Suddenly, the Yoma wipped around and knocked three knives out of the air. The knives skid on the ground, before suddenly flying back, seemingly of their own volition, through the air and stopping right in front of Max, who grinned. "Arashi? Arashi, is that you?!" She was sent flying by an attack and laughed as she stood back up. The knives floated back into a pouch on her magical girl outfit. The outfit, unlike most girls' which were dresses, looked almost like armor. A leather looking substance covered almost the entirety of her body, with metal coverings over some choice spots on her outfit. Her soul gem, which rested in the center of her chest, was covered by a sort of metal flap. It wasn't incredibly protective, but it'll get the job done. "This one's a fighter! Don't worry Arashi, I've got this. I know a way to kill all Yoma instantly!" She took a stance. "Watch and learn." She stood for a few seconds while nothing happened before frowning. "So... what would you say if I told you I forgot?" Suddenly, Max was slammed by the Yoma and sent flying once more.

Arashi gasped as the tree pushed harder, causing her to have difficulties breathing. She managed to shakily lift her soul gem up, looking at just how clouded it was. A flicker of yellow here and there signified that she wasn't about to die, but it also signified that she couldn't do too much else for herself. She focused her energy on breathing and simply staying alive while simultaneously thinking of what else she could do. The branch had almost snapped, but it was starting to mend itself since her barrage of chakra were no longer hitting it. What she wouldn't give for some luck right now. As soon as she thought it, a bolt of lightening struck the branch perpendicular, causing the fault to turn into a sharp break in the branch. As the pressure relieved from her, she fell to the ground, catching her breath and regaining any energy she had in case she had to bolt. Without skipping a beat, however, the tree swung at her, throwing her across the river and into a flower bed. She couldn't hold on any more, and slipped into unconsciousness. The tree immediately started to follow her arc, determined to finish her once and for all.
