Fantasy Project Valhalla

Skaggon

Information is Power
Humans are at the mercy of monsters. Alone a human could never fight one off but in a group, they stand a chance. Monsters are common knowledge, tales of death and bloodbaths spread across the nation. As humans fall victim to these monsters more and more territory is taken over, the only land owned by human now are New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. Normal blades and bullets have proven ineffective to monsters.

The government has created a program committed to the destruction of monsters and the preservation of humanity. The name of this program is called Project Valhalla. As human lives were slaughtered and the population shrunk gods reached out, granting humans the power to fight off the monsters in the form of weapons. Each god selects a human to take a weaker version of their godly weapon to slay the monsters. Gods only choose people who decide to fight against the monster and motives do not matter to the gods; only if they are willing to fight will they be able to wield a divine weapon. The weapons are a blessing and the gods do not interfere any more than that. The government provides substantial compensation and benefits to anyone who fights on behalf of humanity.

As the next generation of warriors finish their training and receive their weapon humanity is ready to continue fighting.

A post that has this ( ! ) means that your character is at risk of dying. It is on you to save your character if other characters interact with your character in an attempt to save them then they may just get your character killed.

It was time for the weapon ceremony. The announcer started speaker to the crowd of recruits waiting for their weapon. "Hello, everyone. We know why you are here and I do not care what exactly motivates you. You will now receive your weapons, but first, let me go over some information and procedure. All of your training to this point was conditioning and thinning the herd. Godly weapons are a resource we do not waste on the weak. So I applaud everyone that made it this far and warn you that everything will only become harder. These weapons are unique to you and the way you will perform best. They are yours until the day you die and are intended to fight the monsters. As most of you know the monsters appeared fifty years ago and have nearly consumed us all. The gods, however, have heard our prays and now as the third generation of warriors, you will humanities hope. This is a very dangerous job and very few are still alive and fighting. Some have retired, others are too injured to fight, the rest are dead. Also when you receive your weapon only you are allowed to use it. If another picks up or wields your weapon it becomes just as effective as a normal weapon. It is not attached to you. It does not disappear and suddenly come back to you. You must take care of this weapon. Now everyone hold your arms out and look at your hands. When you receive your weapon the very next person you look at will be your training partner and combat partner for the rest of your career as warriors. You are responsible for one another and if your partner dies you will not receive another one. Often on missions, you will meet with other pairs to work together depending on the mission. Now everyone look down at your hands. Remeber the next person you make eye contact with will be your partner." He stopped speaking and the room started to glow. Pillars of light shot down into the hands to hands of the recruits bestowing to them their weapons. The announcer then waiting for everyone to be paired. Immediately some people made eye contact, shifted to the other side of the room, and stood next to each other waiting for the others to be paired.

Zack Had listen to the speech and froze. He did not want to be placed randomly. He did not want his future to be decided by random and that his partner would be someone he didn't know or trust. Zack knew he had no choice so he went along with it. In his hands, he saw a weapon that was completely foreign to him. He knew he would have to learn how this weapon is used during the upcoming training. He kept staring at his weapon waiting for the crowd to thin out.

Amelie felt pride swell in her chest, she made it. At least she has made it this far. She looked down at her hands. They were in fists and shaking slightly. She was nervous to see what the gods gifted her with to fight. Would it be a large sword? Or a War hammer? Slowly she unfurled her fingers and almost instantly there appeared a long shiny....stick? It was like a sword, but the blade was much thinner and longer, the handle was very ornate and delicate looking. It looked like this weapon could barely stick an ant let alone fell a monster. Amelie looked at in confusion. She slipped her right hand through the handle and gripped it. She smiled, it felt right. She had no doubt that this far from intimidating weapon would be deadly. She held back a chuckle. as she thought to herself, just like me.
Amelie then remembered the second half announcers speech. Her partner. All those nerves about her weapon came back ten fold. What if she looked at the wrong person, what if they hated her? She closed her eyes tightly and took a deep breath. This was it. She looked up and opened her blue eyes, which were on the verge of becoming green, and made contact with a pair of....

Rose let out a long, deep breath that she didn’t realized she was holding as the announcer spoke. She was almost reluctant as she realized she would have to look down at her hands and meet the weapon she would now have to learn to use. Glancing down at her palms a longer, taller weapon than she expected materialized. A scythe. It wasn’t too fancy looking but it had a nice metallic gleam to it. Although it surprisingly wasn’t made out of such a heavy material, the weapon stood at what was almost her height, which wasn’t a shock to her at all since she wasn’t what you would consider tall. She couldn’t lie and say that this weapon didn’t intimidate her and made her think that maybe this was a mistake, but she would suck it up since it was a gift from the gods after all. At least she was glad that with a longer weapon she wouldn’t have to get as close to the monsters like she hoped.

The next part was the one Rose truly dreaded. She already wasn’t very good at making herself talk when there was company around, but having one partner for the rest of her time here? It was nerve wracking. She refused to bring her gaze up from the view of her hands as she unconsciously shuffled away from the center of the crowd of recruits. She hoped that if she continued looking as if the floor was the most important thing in the world to her at the moment, someone will have already picked for her or maybe they would run out of partners or something.

Dennis
As Dennis stood there, waiting for his weapon, he couldn't help but be a little jumpy. "This is gonna be so badass!" he said aloud. While getting over excited, he realized his weapon was taking longer than everyone else's to get there. He then realized that everyone else's hands were outstretched, and his weren't. "Nobody said we had to do that!" As Dennis finally held out his hands, he felt something appearing within them. It was long and light. Longer than a sword, but lighter than a hammer.

"It must be a spear!" Dennis said, once again out loud. To his surprise, the long weapon which started as pure water then began to sprout three sharp edges at the top. It was a Trident. The Trident of Poseidon. As Dennis began to realize the weapon he had been bestowed, he became very excited. He decided to show it off to the first person he saw.

As he looked up, he saw a 6-foot brown-haired boy who seemed about 17 years old. "Dude, look at what I got!" Dennis shoved the trident almost in his face as he said this. "It appeared from water! I think it's Poseidon's!" Dennis realized that this boy wasn't paying much attention to him and so he waited for him to realize he was there.
