"We WILL purify the water, trust me. Those scientist already have the eggs, don't they? They WILL turn the eggs into chickens, and they WILL make cows. You just have to believe and not lose hope, like I did." Said jax while holding Daniel to his chest.

Daniel instantly started calming down after that and just held onto Jax. Walker smiled weakly and walked to the other side of him and whispered "Thank you" into his ear. After a couple of minutes, Daniel was just a little red in the face. He sat up and looked at Jax with a half smile.


"I forgive you... You helped us a lot, and you're kinda like a big brother, or an uncle." He smiled warmly and then hugged him again.

When Daniel said " you're kind of like a big brother, or an uncle." It met so much to Jax. A new light inside him woke up. He felt like a new person... Like his life had.. Purpose? Jax said " when you said that, you made me feel like a new person. A better person. You and walker give me a purpose to live now. Jax said smiling while still hugging Daniel.

 

[DrTrollinski]

"We can all be like brothers, that'd be cooler." He grinned, Walker rolled his eyes, laughed and then joined in on the hug for a few moments. "So... We can help each other do stuff to finish Project Purity, 'cause brothers help each other all the time!" He smiled and pulled away from him and hopped up out of his seat. (This'll be my last post tonight. Goodnight! It was very fun and emotional tonight - well worth it! )

"Yeah" said Jax warmly. The group walked for about 30 minutes and arrived at "GNR (galaxy news radio)". When they arrived, five brother hood of steel members rushed at them and yelled "TAKE COVER" . "What's wrong? We are just traveling through" Jax said confused. Then one of the brotherhood members barked "THAT WAS AN ORDER!" So Jax, Walker, and Daniel hid behind a large bus. They all heard a monstrous roar and a huge beast entered the plaza. It looked like a super mutant but ten times bigger.


The five brother hood members pulled out amazing weapons. Two had laser rifles, two had Gatling lasers, and the last one had a monstrously huge missile launcher? Jax didn't know, he never saw anything like it, but it was amazing. The beast charged at them, Jax and the boys were still hidden behind a bus, the beast had a huge club, that used to be a street light. It smashed the soldier that had the huge missile launcher, instantly killing him. The missile launcher was undamaged though. The soldiers fired many bullets into the huge beast, and was barely effecting it.

".. Holy shit... What is that?"


"We--.. We should run..." Daniel stuttered as he cowered behind Jax again and looked off around the corner of the bus. Walker inspected the missile launcher that rested on the floor and thought to himself for a moment; he knew that he certainly wouldn't be able to shoot that, but someone else might have been able to. He didn't know what to do here. If they were to make a run for it and leave TBoS to deal with it, they could get away with a risk of it following them, or they could try and take it down with the chance of dying, but also the chance of continuing without it chasing them.


".. What should we do, any ideas?" Walker asked quietly.

"I'm not sure?" Jax said confused. He was eyeing the missile launcher and thought about running and taking it, but the behemoth blocked their path. They couldn't run and escape either, because the beast was in the way. While Jax and the boys were hiding behind the bus and talking. The large beast smashed and killed more soldiers. There was only one soldier left, he made a mad dash to the missile launcher. The beast caught him and picked him up. While the beast was raising him up, the soldier threw the missile launcher at Jax and screamed "USE THE FATMAN!" Jax didn't know what "the Fatman" was but he came to the conclusion that it was the missile launchers name. Jax picked up the missile launcher and it was loaded.

".. Do it." Walker said quietly. He and Daniel looked the missile launcher up and down in amazement. They'd never seen something so high-tech before, not in their whole lives. They only knew one thing, and that was that it was going to be loud. Daniel covered his ears while Walker looked around the side of the bus. ".. You've got a window, man. Do it while you've got the chance." He added.

Jax ran out of cover from behind the bus, and fired "the fatman". The missile was small and round, similar to the nuke in megaton, it was just smaller. It was very heavy and the missile fired slowly. When it hit the gigantic mutant everything went white. The sound was the loudest thing they had ever heard in their lives, and the missile was so strong that it made a small mushroom cloud where it hit. The explosion was also amazingly large, if Jax and the boys were a few feet closer they would have perished along with the mutant. Jax was a bit to close though, the explosion threw him over the bus, into the wall behind it. Everything went dark.

"Shit! Jax!" Walker cried. He and Daniel both ran over to him and looked at him, shaking his shoulders.


"He's dead!" Daniel sobbed.


"No he's not! He's just unconscious! Help me drag him inside!" Walker screamed at him. In retrospect he realized that he may have been a little too harsh on Daniel, but it was necessary at the time. They both struggled, but managed to drag him inside a small general store just beside them on the street. Before they could even do any of that, they had to wait for the ringing in their ears after that explosion. Once that was gone, Daniel was a bit shell-shocked, but he managed to help Walker get Jax inside.


Once they were inside, Walker put Jax in the recovery position and then soaked a rag in some water, followed by putting it over his head. Now they had to wait for him to wake up.

After twenty minutes, a squadron of brotherhood of steel came out of GNR. They went into the little building Daniel and Walker dragged Jax into, and picked Jax up and brought him into GNR. The leader of the squadron, the only one not wearing his helmet said " Children please follow us." The leader was probably around forty years old, he was bald and had a short grey beard and moustache.


They took the two boys into GNR and brought them to a small room, that had two beds and a radio. The squad leader said "my name is Senior paladin Declan." Your friend is ok, we are going to fix him up, and then give you guys some food, then send you on your way." "Thanks also , you may have saved GNR, we owe you." Added Declan.

Walker didn't really want to follow TBoS to GNR; he decided to anyway, though. Daniel was quite upset, but he'd calmed down quite a lot since Walker had taken control of the situation beforehand. 'We are going to fix him up'. Hah. What made them think he couldn't do that himself? They have food and water in their backpacks - the only thing he really thought anything of were the two beds. He didn't care much for the radio.


".. Well--.. It looks like we're the heroes of the wasteland sooner than we predicted." He joked. ".. Seriously, though... I could have fixed him up. I'm medically trained, and so is my brother... The most he'll have is a concussion. Seeing as he's still breathing, the damaged ribs obviously didn't get any worse, and if it was any more of a severe injury to the skull, he'd be dead, so..." Walker shrugged a little and went over to sit down on one of the beds. Daniel went with him.

A few hours later Jax woke up. He was in a small room on a bed, in an unknown area. The last thing he remembered is he and the two boys saw a really large super mutant. Jax sat there confused for a few more minutes and remembered, waking up halfway and being carried by the brotherhood of steel. He came to his senses and realized they must have saved him from the terrible beast. Jax exited the room and saw a bald man with a grey beard wearing brother hood of steel armor, Jax walked up to him and said "hello".


The man replied "hey are you alright?"


Jax said "what do you mean?"


The man then said "oh sorry for not introducing myself I'm Declan, and what I was saying is are you alright, because you got slammed into a wall using the fatman."


Jax then remembered it all. He saved the brotherhood by using the "fatman" to kill the super mutant, and he must have gotten hurt from it. "where are the two boys!" Jax said, starting to panic, that the beast might have killed them.


Declan said" don't worry, they are safe here with us"


Jax then asked "can I have my gear back, I noticed that I don't have it anymore?."


Declan said "yeah go into that room and retrieve it all."


Jax went into the room Declan told him to, and there was a chest in the middle, he opened it and all his gear was there. He put all his gear on and got his weapons back, then exited the room. He said to Declan "thanks for helping me a bunch, now can you bring me to the boys?"


Declan smiled and said "sure".

When he arrived with the boys, a smile lit up Daniel's face and he ran up and hugged him.


".. I thought you were gonna' die..." He said softly, taking a deep breath before pulling away from him. He looked over at Walker who was sat against a wall and rubbing his shoulder. He looked up at Jax and smiled a little.


".. Nice to see you're alive." He said simply, using his good hand to push himself up and walk over to him. ".. I tell you, dragging you inside with one arm wasn't easy." He chuckled a little.

Jax smiled and jokingly said "don't worry I'll never die." Then he said "walker thanks, I would be dead if you didn't do that." " Sorry but where are we exactly? I have my map, I just forget where we are specifically." He added. Jax felt pretty good, the only thing that hurt was his head, he had a major headache and couldn't remember the last few hours. He reached into his bag and took a few painkillers.

 

[DrTrollinski]

".. Galaxy News Radio." Walker replied as he picked up his backpack from the floor and slung it over his good shoulder, followed by taking his rifle and slinging that over it as well. ".. We were heading up to Vault Ninety-two, remember? We're a few days away, but... Hell, that's where we're going. You need to stay here and rest up for a while? The most you've got's a concussion, so... It's your call, dude." He said, shrugging, but then wincing in pain. Yeah, shrugging wasn't a good idea with his shoulder, his arm was still in a sling, but the muscles and tissues would only rebuild to be stronger.

" uhh, yeah I guess we can rest up for a few days." Jax said. Jax sat down on the bed and put all his belongings in a locker. He said "so how long have been out." To him it felt like a few seconds, but for all he knows it could have been a week. Jax felt really tired and just wanted to relax and get some sleep. He then asked "so they super mutant didn't hurt you guys, right?"

 

[DrTrollinski]

".. Nah, you obliterated the thing, man." He said as he sat down on his bed and lied down. ".. In fact, you almost obliterated yourself." He chuckled a little and then looked over to Daniel, whom of which walked over and sat down on the bed beside walker. There were only the two beds, so he and Daniel had decided that they were going to share for tonight - they were camper beds, so there wasn't much room, anyway. "We can stay here for a few days, yeah. They've got a bathroom just down the hall, and some showers a little further down. Beds could be a little more comfy, but hey, it's better than nothing." He shrugged and then yawned as he put an arm over Daniel's side and pulled him close.

Jax said " sounds good, we can leave tomorrow, I just need some sleep now, wake me up around, 10AM. Jax sat down on the bed and ate from a can of soup, and drank a nuka cola. After he ate he laid down on the bed, exhausted, thinking about their journey so far.

 

[DrTrollinski]

".. Sure..." Walker yawned and hugged Daniel before closing his eyes. He fell asleep within fifteen minutes, and Daniel was asleep even before then. The following morning, Daniel was the first to get up at around eight o'clock and asked Walker to take him to the bathroom; as tired as Walker was, he got up and walked him to where the bathroom is and then waited inside while Daniel went into one of the stalls. Ten minutes later and he returned, and then they both went to the public shower room and they both took a shower to freshen up for the rest of the day. They went and had some breakfast, and then they went back to the room to wake Jax up.


"Hey, Jax... Get up, man." Walker said as he brushed his damp hair to the side.

Jax fell asleep easy that night because he was so worn out from all the super mutants they fought. Jax then felt something nudging his shoulder so he woke up, and saw walker. He said "what's the matter walker, are you ok?" Then he got up and picked up his rifle. Walker looked nervous, so that made Jax himself a bit nervous.

 

[DrTrollinski]

"Yeah, I'm fine... I could do with some painkillers, though... You asked us to wake you up at around ten, and it's about nine now, so... Yeah. Me and Dan have showered and eaten, so we're good to go whenever you are." He said as he rubbed his shoulder.

 

[bingus44]

"Yeah sure" Jax said, while handing walker painkillers. Jax then ate, got a shower, and took some painkillers. After all that Jax said" well I guess we should start traveling again I guess." Jax really didn't feel like going out into the wasteland again, but he knew it had to be done.

 

[DrTrollinski]

Walker was happy to have the painkillers and he felt much more relieved after about fifteen minutes or so. He waited at the exit of the building with Daniel while Jax went and ate and showered. They were sitting there just talking - talking about whether or not dad had the letter yet, and they were talking about project purity in general. It was a nice discussion, no less.

After Jax finished eating and showering, he found walker and Daniel, and said "ok guys, it's time to go." The group walked and exited the building. The group walked for about an hour and finally exited the DC city area. Jax was glad to be out of the old destroyed city. He preferred to walk the lonely desert, rather then the ghoul, raider, and super mutant, infested city area. But of course there were raider, ghouls, and super mutants out in the desert, but certainly less often then the city.
