" yeah kev is a nice guy" said Jax, ignoring the last part. "Let's get to sleep Daniel, walker will be back tomorrow morning, him and the girl are probably just hanging out and listening to the radio" Jax said with a smile, knowing what they were really up to.

 

[DrTrollinski]

"I guess so..." He sighed a little and then snuggled up a little more. "Night, Jax... I'll see you in the morning." He smiled at him before closing his eyes and slowly beginning to drift off to sleep.


Walker was up late into the night, for obvious reasons.

" good night Daniel, I'll wake you up early tomorrow because we have to leave to start project purity." Jax said. Jax then fell asleep soon after Daniel did.

Walker woke up at six o'clock. He found himself pretty much lying on top of Rebecca. Better yet, he had no clothes on. Okay. That was strange. He had a while before everyone else got up, so he got dressed, woke her up, kissed her goodbye, and then wandered off to the men's public shower room so he could take s shower. Daniel was still fast asleep.

Jax woke up at 8am and to his surprise walker was returned already. "good morning, did you have fun talking to your friend" Jax said smiling, then winked. Jax woke up Daniel and also said good morning to him, then he said " get your stuff together guys, we are leaving in an hour, walker why don't you go say goodbye to your friend, me and Daniel will be in the lab." Jax and Daniel walked down into the lab and Jax asked " so scientist, where are we heading first to get a power core for project purity?"

Walker said nothing to his first question but then nodded as he got up to leave. He went to find Rebecca at the other end of the market and grabbed her shoulder to stop her from walking.


"Oh, hi, Walker... Is everything alright?" She asked, Walker sighed a little.


"I've got to go off on Project Purity... I'll be travelling a lot. Please, don't come looking for me - Stay here, and I promise you I'll be back." He said, smiling weakly, she gave a bit of a broken smile and then leaned forward, planting a gentle kiss on his lips.


".. I'll be right here waiting for you. I promise." She said, and then hugged him tight. She wished him goodbye and then wandered off back to her room upstairs. It upset Walker to be leaving - love was a crazy feeling.

".. I do have a name. 'Frank' will do just fine. And I don't know. That's the problem." He sighed and looked around. "This is where the job gets messy. Vault ninety-two, up North, is the most recent place we've found, although I have no promises that you'll find a reactor core there." He explained.

Jax found walker after he was done talking to the scientist and said,


" hey walker, this part of the job is going to be the most dangerous part. We are going to have to travel all over the wasteland to find these reactor cores. So I can't promise we will.... Return. So I was thinking, if you want. I could return you to your dad, try to do project purity myself, but still give you half the caps. I just don't want you or Daniel to get hurt out there." Jax said uneasily.

 

[DrTrollinski]

"What? Hell, no. We have more chance if we're together." He said defensively. "We're not going to let you down like that, and we're certainly not going to sit around and take the money you earn." He added. "Ain't that right, Daniel?" He asked. Daniel nodded and smiled.


"Yeah, we're not gonna' do that." He smiled as he tugged on Jax's shirt a little.

Jax smiled and patted him on the back, then said "I knew I could count on you, well let's get traveling then, we have food, ammo, and weapons." The group exited rivet city, and once again were in the dangerous wastes. Jax said " ok, Frank said that we are going to vault 92 first, and he marked it on my map. Personally I have never been in a vault, and since we are going in this one, I'm guessing there are no people in it since we are taking the reactor core." Jax and the group travelled once again to a metro. "I'm sorry but we have to go in, because the old fallen buildings are blocking the roads." Jax said. The group walked down into the dark metro once again. (Different metro btw)

".. I don't like Metros." Daniel said, standing a little closer to Jax. "How long does this one go on for?" He asked.


"Probably about the same as the last one... I can't hear anything, so I'm going to pray that there's nothing else other than us down here." Walker said as he ran his eyes over the dark and empty Metro. ".. Our dad told us about Vaults. A place where a lot of people went before the war - It's meant to be really nice in there, apparently. Power, water, food, clean beds, bathrooms - the whole jackpot." He explained, chuckling a little thereafter. ".. Seeing as we're taking a reactor core, if there's people there, I doubt they'll be too happy." He said.

" don't worry, people won't be there, the vaults all opened about 50 years ago, and all the "vault dwellers" as they're called, went out into the wasteland , and cities shunned them, because they were jealous that they were living in a comfy vault while all us people were living in the harsh wasteland trying to survive and killing others to survive." Said Jax. They went into the dark metro, and walk for about 30 minutes before they found a room, that had a box in the center, the box was filled with food, ammo, and weapons. Jax said "this looks like a trap" but he scanned the room and didn't see any tripwire, land mines, or other signs of traps.

".. Well--.. You want to check that out while me and Daniel keep watch?" Walker asked. Daniel progressed to the back of the room to hide in the shadows and then Walker also went to a bench at the back to look at the door. "If it's of use to us, I say we take it." He added, inspecting his rifle for a few moments before aiming it back towards the door. "Or we take what we need, and leave the rest behind. Up to you." He said.

Jax said "Umm sure I'll go check it out, wait here! Do not enter the room!" When Jax entered the room he still didn't see any signs of traps. He picked up a can of soup out of the crate and to his surprise nothing happened. He said "hey guys it's all sa" but before he could finish his sentence a huge beast about 6-7 feet tall jumped out of the room that was inside this room. It appeared right in front of Jax, the beast had mighty horns on its head, big sharp teeth, and huge claws, bigger then a mans head. Jax thought "is this a death claw, I thought they were only rumors, to scare caravans." But no they were indeed real. The beast leapt forward at Jax, but he turned around and ran just in time. He screamed "RUN FORWARD TO THE EXIT, WE ARE ALMOST THERE!" As he was running he picked up Daniel and put him on his back, because Daniel was small, and couldn't run as fast as he or walker.

Walker was sprinting along with them - He looked over his shoulder occasionally and fired a few shots off at the said Deathclaw. Jesus, this thing was horrible. He was shooting it as much as he could - in fact, he emptied all but one bullet into it. He wasn't sure if any of them had hit it in the head, but if they did, it hadn't killed it just yet. Walker ran, and ran, and ran, and it just reminded him of the time he was six years old and running for his life. It was a scary feeling, but when he saw the natural daylight of the exit, things suddenly didn't seem so bad.

Jax and the group made it to the exit, and the death claw was only about 30 feet behind them. Jax thought quickly and when they ran out of the exit door, there was a nuka cola machine next to the door, Jax put Down Daniel and yelled "walker help me push this In front of the door, so the death claw can't get out."

Walker literally ran up and shoulder-bashed the side of the machine as hard as he could to try and take the thing down to the ground. He didn't know if it would work, because his shoulder was in too much pain for him to tell. Daniel was standing back and watching the whole scene take place - he didn't want to run into another one of those... things. Jesus, they were terrifying. He was hoping that there weren't any that were bigger than that anywhere, or they'd be in for a ride.

Jax and walker both used all their strength to push the nuka cola machine and.... it worked! They pushed the big machine in front of the door, and the death claw was furiously banging on the door, but couldn't get it open. The group ran for almost ten whole minutes until they were sure they were safe and away from the vile creature. They now went into a small shop, that was old so no one worked in it anymore, and sat down, to catch their breath.

Walker didn't sit down. He was really starting to hurt now. He felt his right shoulder with his left hand for a few moments and then sighed. He'd undergone a pretty bad injury.


".. Shit... Jax...?" He slowly turned and looked at him and took a shaky deep breath. ".. I've dislocated my shoulder." He gulped and then slowly climbed up to lie on the counter after shoving the cash register off. He lied on his back and then looked up at Jax while shuffling along so that his shoulder was hanging off of the counter top. ".. I'll talk you through how to fix it... Just--.." He grabbed a pencil and shoved it in his mouth sideways so he could bite down on it. ".. Let me know when you're ready." He said. He was sweating and he was pale. He knew how much this was going to hurt.

"Yeah I know how to fix it" said Jax uneasily because he really didn't want to do it. "So I have to just pop it into place, right? Tell me when you're ready." Jax could see how scared walker was, and didn't blame him, Jax Has dislocated his shoulder before, and the pain of popping it back in was like no other.

 

[DrTrollinski]

".. Okay." He took a shaky deep breath. He felt like he was going to vomit, but he knew that wasn't going to help him get anywhere. He gripped the side of the counter with his free hand and then took another deep breath. ".. Okay... I want you to start pulling on the arm." He reached up with his right hand and laced his fingers with Jax's own, just so they didn't lose grip. "Pull it away from the body, slowly... The tension on the arm will eventually cause the shoulder muscles to stretch, so any time during that the shoulder will pop back... Go for it." He bit down hard on the pencil and shut his eyes tight.

"Ok" was all Jax could say, because he was just as scared and nervous as walker. Jax rubbed walkers head before starting then said "ok I'm starting now" Jax held walkers hand, and arm, then followed walkers instructions. He pulled his arm out slowly then he felt the arm pop back in.

It took a couple of minutes to actually get it back into place, but to Walker it felt like hours. Tears were breaking out from under his closed eyes and streaming down his cheeks, and by the time they'd actually done it, he'd bit straight through the pencil. As soon as it popped back into place he howled in agony and rolled off of the counter, punching the side of it with his left hand.


"Fuck me--.." He sobbed. That really hurt.

Jax sat down next to walker on the counter, smiled and patted him on the back " you did good, here take some of my painkillers" Jax said, while handing walker a purified water bottle and the painkillers. "Also is anyone hungry, I bought food at rivet city before we left." Jax added

He shakily took the painkillers and the water and chugged some of them down, sighing. "Thank you..." He choked, leaning against him as he reached into his bag and pulled out a sling - this was something he got at Rivet City. He put it on his arm and left it hanging there. ".. I need some support on this until the pain goes... I don't want to cause any permanent damage." He said. "And no. I'm not hungry." He added.


Daniel walked forward to Jax's front. ".. I'm hungry. Can I have something, then?" He asked.
