  • When you are creating a character, there are two options:

    1. You're a player that bought the game, and you spawn in the starting zone.

    2. You are an NPC player in the game, and travel to the starting zone.

The only difference between these is your interaction and background. If you're an NPC, your backstory will be in the game world, and if you're a player, your backstory will be in the real world. :)

Hey. You are in. I just have two notes to make. 1. Your first skill ends aftrr for. Either remove the for or finish it. :D 2. Move the hands equipment to defensive. My mistake. :P

Awesome. :) I will be working on the first zone soon so we can start. :)

Hey, Trev, any limits on what we can or can't use as weapons? and say if I start a mage-type class, is there a starter skill to go with it or do I bash stuff until I level up to learn legit magicky stuffs? and pets/mounts, allowed or no? :3 that is all for now, thank you xD

Since you decided to skip some stuff on the info page, I will just answer your questions.

First of all, a weapon of choice can be ANYTHING you wish. But keep in mind that if you have a weapon type that is rare, for example, a friggin dual-blade-mace-bow-thing, then crafting will be the only way to upgrade your gear, and upgrading it WILL be required.

At the very beginning, you gain the ability to learn one active, and one passive skill. These can be whatever you wish. For example, it can be the basic fire ball spell, or a lightning bolt. But nothing too OP yet. You're just starting. ;)

Pets/mounts ARE allowed. However, and I will include this in the main post, acquiring a pet will require the skill "Tame", and riding it will require both a skill "Mount" and a pet at least level 10. And also, a suitable size pet, not a friggin bunny. xD
Okay, this is just bullshit. I spent thirty minutes working on a zone and then just POOF, all of my RPNATION tabs decided to REFRESH THEMSELVES ALL AT FREAKING ONCE. Now I have to redo everything...

Alright, you're in! Congrats. You can start roleplaying. But there's one thing I'd like to mention. The equipment you are wearing now, it will be gone later. You will be upgrading it for newer ones. :) And the game is not turn based. Go to the Rules/Regulations tab to see an example of a roleplay battle. :)
The roleplay has begun! Zone #1: Ashview has been finished and is ready to be explored! You will spawn inside the town, and you may do quests that are progressive to the storyline, or you can request your own quests in the OOC thread! Good luck!

I feel like I may have started a trend with the negative racial perk
That's good, actually. Balance is good. :) Although it is not needed, it is not something I am against. :)

  • Origin:Real World.

Name: Brandon Hellith (Username:BrokenHealer [if we are using in-game usernames])

Age: 27

  • Race: Drow

-Race Explanation: Drow are commonly misjudged as "dark elves." They are not anymore evil than any other race, but they tend to have an affinity for darkness and caves rather than forests and nature. Drow are advantageously built for tunneling and caving, they are just as handy with a pick or a shovel as a Dwarf Miner, with keen dark-eyesight and hearing. Their disadvantages are that they do not like bright or airy places, preferring to be in cities or crowds. Large Parties suit them, and they will do whatever it takes to make friends to add to their party.

-Racial Perk: Drow Talk: Drow are slick and smooth talkers, so gain a +3 racial perk to Speech Tests (taming, bargaining, recruiting). This is raised by +1 every 3 levels.

-Race Disadvantage: Oversenses: When fighting in bright places or against any Light-Producing magic, all chances to hit are reduced to a total 25%. Being blinded or having no sight actually removes this penalty, though it is replaced by the normal -50% hit chance for not being able to see the target.

  • Class: AntiMage

-Class Explanation: AntiMages are a certain type of mage, not using the normal Mana to cast spells. They are weak hand-to-hand fighters, typically preferring long-range weapons to supplement their magical attacks. AntiMages specialize in taking down enemy magicians, and are well equipped to do so. All AntiMage skills cost Health instead of the usual energy, in percentage amounts. Some spells cause damage to a number of types of targets, while others are purely Effect skills meant to cripple enemy magic, such as adding or removing effects, like Blindness or Remove Regeneration. Since AntiMages do not use energy to cast spells, they may also learn some basic (up to level 5) combat skills, such as Sword or Bow skills, and these incur the normal Energy costs. AntiMages cannot cast HP-spells when their Energy is below 25%, even if full health.

-Weapon Type: Uses variety of Bladed or Ranged weapons (swords, bows, axes). Does NOT use Blunt weapons (Mace, hammer) and gets a penalty for using heavy weapons.

-Armor Type: Light Armour, Can Equip Heavy Armour, but gets a -10(-1 extra per armour level) to Speed, Hit, Reflexes and Precision.

  • Starting skills:

1.(Passive) Drain Circle Level1: Any mages, friendly or otherwise, who cast a Magic-type skill WHILE within 50 feet of an AntiMage has the spell weakened by half and doubles the energy cost to cast it. Damage is halved. Healing is halved. Spell effects like slowing or hastening are canceled, they do not activate.

2.(Active) Energy Drain Level1: Energy is drained from the target, restoring half of the amount drained into the caster. Costs 5 Hp (+2hp per spell level)

-Basic attack:

With Melee Weapon: Tends to fight as a weak Warrior-type class, adding their Effect Magic to cripple the enemy as they fight. Risky, as being in close combat and using magic will quickly drain their Health and Energy

With Ranged Weapon: Will try to keep the enemy at the range of their Drain Circle, so that the effects still apply, but they are almost free from physical retaliation.

Uhh. It seems unfair with he +5 Speech, but since it has a condition, I guess I could allow it. :) You're in. But I hope you realize that the numbers you put in are JUST numbers right? (With the HP and mana)
Oh and here is my application as will also be playing in this roleplay:

Origin Real World

Name: Morty Pilwick

Age: 16

Race: Kugaku (A name I made up just now)

Race Explanation: Kugaku is an offspring race from humans. Their looks do not differ from those of a human, however, they have different capabilities. Kugakus are crazy beings. At least that's what others think. They are beings of stealth, and often act as if they were out of their minds, even though that is impossible for them.

Racial Perk: Lurk - If a Kugaku moves really slowly and crouches, their body becomes invisible, and any sound they make cannot be heard to the public ear. Only Kugakus see other Kugakus in this mode.

Class: Rogue

Class Explanation: A rogue is a class of stealth and precision. They strike where it hurts the most and try to eliminate their foes with as least hits as possible.

Weapon Type: Dual Daggers

Armor Type: Light Armor

Starting skills:

1. Dash I (Active) - Morty dashes forward faster than he normally would. If an attack comes right after, it deals higher (Level I) damage to the target.

2. Surprise Death (Passive) - If Morty kills a target with Dash I or while being in Lurk, he gets a boost in speed by 1 point.

Basic attack: When fighting Morty attacks with his daggers, sometimes also hitting with his fists.

Everything you would find in every second or third teenager in the real world. When he found out about Project Lynnvale, he decided to give it a go to run away from the reality. And it actually helped him. Now he's here in this world ready to fight monsters and help out people who need his help.

Wel, what I was going for was that Drow are smooth talkers and they tend to get what they want when they bargain for it, but I didn't want it to be a TOTAL stat boost, that's not really fair. And for the abilities, I wanted to have a system that was a little unconventional. Are we not keeping track of things like HP and energy?

Stick, go to the Rules/Regulations tab. Look under the roleplay fighting example tab there. You will see how the battles will work.
Shit, I just realized I didn't mention the starting inventory! Everyone's starting inventory:

600 Gold

x1 Lesser Health Potion (Works until you advance to the fourth zone)

Origin: Real World

Name: Ethan Thomas

Age: 17

Race: Wood Elf

Race Explanation: Wood Elves are elves that come from heavily forested areas. They tend to be taller than other races of elf, and have keener eyes. They seem to have an affinity with nature, and hold it in very high regard. As such, anyone who tries to destroy nature, specifically trees, are punished by the Wood Elves.

Racial Perk: Hunterโ€™s Eyes: +2 to precision when aiming for an unaware target.

Class: Alchemist

Class Explanation: Alchemists are mages that control poisons and acids. They can brew potions that buff allies, or poisons that apply effects to enemies. They can also cast poison magic. (Iโ€™m aware that we cannot craft until level 6: until then, he will use magic or his dagger.)

Weapon Type: His melee weapon is a short sword. He can also brew โ€œsplash potionsโ€ that he can throw, and apply effects in an area.

Armor Type: Robe

Starting skills:

1.(Passive)Wizard's Eye: Increases 1 Speed per 5 Clarity

2.(Active) Poison Bolt: Shoots a magic poison bolt at an enemy. Affected enemy takes poison damage for 2 posts.

Backstory of your character: Ethan is a fairly ordinary high school student. He goes to a fairly small public high school, talks to his small group of friends, and goes back to a home heโ€™d rather not stay at. At school, Ethan is often bullied for fairly ordinary reasons, but the words still strike like daggers. As a result of the persistent bullying, Ethan has a very low self-esteem. Ethanโ€™s escape from the painful world he lives in is the virtual world. His family is somewhat poor, but bought Ethan a computer when he was eleven. It wasnโ€™t a great computer by any means, but it made Ethan happy.

He was introduced to a free MMO by his friends, and started to play with them. Ethan played a mage class that inflicted status effects on the opponent. Ethan grew to love the class: He liked to sit behind the front lines and contribute to the battle without too much pressure being on him. Anyways, when Ethan was older, he heard news about an MMO that would be in a virtual reality. Ethan was amazed, but less excited by the enormous price tag. Still, Ethan decided that this was perfect for him. He got a job at a comic book shop, and slowly accumulated money until he could afford the VR console and the MMO. Now, once he finally has it, itโ€™s time to log in.

Appearance (Pic or description): Real life: Ethan has short, cropped dirty blonde hair. He is relatively tall for his age, around 5โ€™11โ€™ to 6โ€™. Ethan is fairly skinny, and not very fit in general, as he is not much into physical activity.

Application
Greetings. Your application seems good, you're in.

And about the armor.. Well, In my opinion robe would be a better fit for your class. Light armor increases critical strike chance, ranged damage and speed and such. And robe would increase magic damage, however, it would not affect your shortsword attack, as for the light armor it would increase it's critical strike chance. :) And you can always get a skill that would materialize a potion of sorts. :)

When you are creating a character, there are two options:

1. You're a player that bought the game, and you spawn in the starting zone.

2. You are an NPC player in the game, and travel to the starting zone.

The only difference between these is your interaction and background. If you're an NPC, your backstory will be in the game world, and if you're a player, your backstory will be in the real world. :)

I CHOOSE THE NPC OPTION :)

Alright, people, listen up! I have been thinking, and I have came to a conclusion that I have to make a poll about something. There are four of us currently in this roleplay, and so there will be a vote cast to see the outcome of the following statement.

I've been thinking and thought that this roleplay might be too complicated and have too much restricting features. I've been thinking of a way to simplify this roleplay, and I came to a solution! Here's what I would do:

1. Completely rework the stat system.
This would mean that you would not have to write up numbers in the SHITLOADS of stats you have, and you would not need to do math with skills to see how much damage they do or don't do. What would this be changed with? Well, stats would stay, although they would be different. The maximum amount of a stat would be 5. Various items would increase the number of this stat, for example a Leather Tunic would increase Reflexes by 1. Right? And every stat would also have a "level". Not a number, no. It would go along the alphabet from J being the lowest to A being the higherst. And every level would need 5 points to go higher. This would mean an easier understanding in fights, because monsters would also have these stats. And the normal stats we have now would be changed with these:

Damage

Defense

Speed

Attack Speed

Clarity

Speech

2. Rework the skill system
What would happen here is I would basically get rid of any numbers, and just leave the skills same as stats - J to A, meaning their powerfulness. There wouldn't be percentages and such, there would only be letters. Well, and numbers, if you want your skill to increase a stat, however, those are only from 1 to 3, so that's not much. :)

3. Rework equipment
With the current equipment system, at level ~15, you'd get items that add +30 Intelligence or +40 Reflexes and such... However, since that is too tedious, I want to change it. When you get an item, it can increase a stat from 1 to 3, depending on it's quality and stuff... That would mean you could rarely get better items, unless you get items that are Green, Blue, Purple or Red. Those will be the rarities explained in crafting that will add more stat points.

Now, I know you will say that this way changing equipment is basically pointless. This is true and false at the same time. As equipment will not give you more than you would normally have unless you get a better slightly item, it will have durability. It won't decrease with you getting hit, but instead, the durability will be considered 0 when you advance 2 zones of where you got that item. For example, if you get an item in zone 1, in zone 3 it doesn't work anymore and you can basically throw it away.

4. Improve questing worth
As of now, the quests are just there to make a storyline and give you some gold and EXP so you would not have to grind. But what if the quests were just more than that? What if they gave you special items, dangerous things and, well, immerse action? What if they were more realistic and mysterious? This is not a huge change, just a slight one that will improve the play. Of course, creating your own quests will still be possible, just, with my permission.

5. New features
I would add some new features to the game as well. Like enchanting your gear to improve it or make it last one more floor (or more). But the first four changes are the most important ones.

Right, so now, I would like you to write in the OOC comment box below this post if you are for or against these changes. My vote is for, obviously. If you have any suggestions, reply NOT in the comment box, but post a normal reply! I will be waiting.

Patch notes 2014.06.07 | Huge reworks and upcoming features.

Alright, so as you know, I was doing major reworks to the system. I've simplified a lot of things and this is the result of those simplifications:

1. Reworked the stat system
Take a look at the Stats tab in the Rules/Regulations page.

2. Reworked the skill system
Take a look at the Skills tab in the Rules/Regulations page.

4. Reworked the equipment system.
Take a look at the Equipment tab in the Rules/Regulations page.

Everyone who had been accepted BEFORE these changes, please update your apps with the appropriate changes!

Features to be made
1. Enchantment

2. Repair

3. Reworked Pet System

4. PVP

@Trevor B Harper, not to undermine your rulings, but what about the characters who are good at magic but poor in weapons, and vice versa? it seems a little too squished together if you just have damage and defense vs Weapon Attack and Defense With Magic attack And Defense separate. just a suggestion, but if you wanna keep it the way you have it now, I'm not gonna argue. :)

Otherwise, I support all the stat and item changes, I like the values and stuff on them now :)

Well, you see, the "damage" stat is the damage from weapons you carry. And if a character wants to be good at magic, there's the skill system. I might make it slightly clearer in the thread later so that it would be easier to understand. Skills/spells do more damage than normal hits. :) Yeah, I will have to make this clear when I am back. (probably tomorrow) Like, skills will also have these... Letter... Levels. And per say, if a monster has defense I, and your skill is H, then you deal more damage than you would if your skill was I, just like it's defense. :) And also, I found a way to figure out Health, but it will only be set in PVP. :)
