Futuristic Project God Killer (Koala x Siren77)

Smoke, heavy and blinding covered a landscape. Where there is smoke, there is fire, and what large amount there was. Forests, plains, buildings, people... All consumed by the unending and vibrant flames. Screams and shouts came from every direction, terror stricken faces littered those still living. A lone behemoth stood among a pile of the dead, holding a familiar figure. “Where is the boy?” The long figure, a woman, smiled though she was suspended above the ground my her throat. “Far from your grasp, and somewhere where you’ll never find him.” With an angry growl, the behemoth crushed the woman’s throat before casting her among the dead. Glowing eyes stared to the sky, “I will find you, this I swear.”

Siren woke up in a panic, sitting up straight in his bed with a gasp. Panting, he tried to gather his thoughts. After he settled his mind, the young man let out a soft sigh before running a hand through his course blonde hair. This was perhaps the millionth night that he’s had that same accursed nightmare. It was something that seemed so familiar to him, and yet he couldn’t think of where. “Whatever...” he said aloud. Looking to the clock on his wall, he saw that it was 4:48. Normally he’d go back to bed and enjoy another twelve minutes of rest, but he felt too unnevered to sleep even for that brief moment. So, he got out of bed and quickly dressed in some workout clothes before heading out of his room and to the training center. Once inside, he immedietly headed for a treadmill where he stepped on and began with a small job. After he felt warmed up, he set the mill to his usual speed and began running to his hearts content slipping into the flow of motion.

The sound of twigs cracking and leaves rustling could be heard for miles. Quick, frosty breaths could be seen escaping Fen's mouth as she sped through the dark forest, teleporting the few meters she could see ahead of her. Dogs and people were following close behind, the former barking and the latter shouting obscene orders. However, they weren't hunting the young girl. She was the hunter and they were only the assistants.

"Go, go, go!" Shouted the soldiers behind her as they finally came to a clear surrounding. Fen, with her hands bare and fingers wiggling, stood face to face with male not much older than her. He was glaring at her, eyes wandering over her frosty fingers, as he mouthed the unheard words...

You're a monster.

A loud gasp filled the room as the sound of an ear shattering alarm bounced against the walls. Fen's dark blue eyes snapped open as her body jolted upwards, beads of sweat following the forces of gravity. She frantically looked around her and let out muffled screams as if something were crawling all over. It only took her a few short moments, however, to realize it was her own sweat turning into little icicles. Letting out a relieved sigh, the young woman turned towards the clock and noted it was 5:45 AM.

"I wonder what I dreamed about this time..." Fen muttered to herself as she began to organize her bed. She flattened out her cover sheet and folded her thick blanket so it fit nicely at the end of her bed. A lot of people found it odd that she even needed a blanket when she slept, but those people didn't really understand her power. To be fair though, Fen didn't even understand her power. One minute she can tolerate an ice bath without any issues, and the next she was freezing. It didn't help that she had dreams--even though she couldn't remember them--that made her powers and body temperature fluctuate randomly.

After tidying up, getting dressed, putting her hair up in a ponytail, and slipping her special self-molding bracelets on, it was already 6:00 on the dot. The peach-haired female knew she wouldn't make it to the training center before the clock struck 6:01, so she decided teleporting was the best option. As soon as she visualized the room's interior, she zapped towards her destination without even leaving a trace. Unfortunately, she ended up teleporting into her main sparring partner who was doing who knows what.

"Ow..." Fen hissed as she rubbed her head, which had hit Siren's back quiet hard--hard enough that she fell back onto her bottom. The female got up and rubbed the places that would probably bruise and stretched out her limbs slowly. "Why are you a rock?" She said to herself quietly.

Around 5:30 Siren had finished up his 8 mike run and shut the treadmill off before stepping off and drying his face off with a small towel provided in the training center. He was slightly out of breath, but he wasn’t in the mood to kill himself with conditioning today. Tossing the rag into the laundry Shute, Siren made his way over to the weight area and thought for a moment. It was Friday, meaning leg day. Letting out a disgruntled sigh, he made his way over to the first station which was the deadlift area. Walking over to a small pad, Siren typed in the desired weight of 550 lbs and the weights began to be slid onto the bar by little cranes. This was easier for him, so he wouldn’t have to lug the heavier ones around and get them to slide into place. Once everything was set, Siren stepped up to the bar and began his first set of 10. Not long after that he had begun his third set and was five reps in when something hit his back. Fen... He instantly thought before setting the weights down and turning around and his gaze fell down the girl with a concerned look.

“Are you okay?” He asked her before offering her a hand up. Once she was pulled to her feet, Siren turned around and finished up the last set of his five reps before having the program remove the weights again. “I swear, it’s always odd to me that you’re the only one that ever comes in to train with me anymore. Not even Kito does.” He chuckled as he walked over to the squat rack and went about the same process of getting the desired weight and beginning the three sets of ten rep workout. “You look a little more shaken up than usual today. Is everything alright?” He asked her as he finished the first set.

After quietly thanking Siren for helping her up, Fen went straight for the treadmills and set the speed to something slow and steady. She let out a small, breathy laugh as she listened to the man's modest complaint on how she was the only one to join him for training sessions. The other four definitely didn't train or practice as often as they used to, and she only saw Kito and Daniela when Siren couldn't help her with hand to hand. Maybe that was for the best though. Everyone together tended to be loud and other Project members often avoided the training room in such scenarios.

"It's because they don't need to train as much as I do. We all know I'm..." Fen began before slowing down the treadmill and returning to a brisk walk, her voice dropping as if something were deep in her mind. "Huh?" She asked, officially stopping her brief jog and stepping off the machine. As she began walking to the designated ability training area, blocked off by a special barrier so no one would get hurt, she answered the blonde. "Oh... yeah... I think I had a bad dream I can't remember again. I'll probably go see the Doc some time today." 'Doc' was another project member. He wasn't necessarily a doctor, but everyone called him that due to his intelligence and abilities. The young man was capable of accessing stuff in people's head, although his success rate was fairly low. The overseers tried using him to access Fen's old memories too, but whoever erased or locked them did a good job of it.

Walking over to one of the touch pads, Fen inputed how many targets and how long she wanted to battle train. Ten to fifteen minutes was about her limit so she wouldn't over work herself and could train harder later at night. When six targets popped up from all directions, Fen began using the Muay Thai skills she learned from Siren while incorporating her flexibility and grappling styles. It wasn't long before a majority of the targets were on the ground or frozen from the inside out so she quickly ended the simulation.

The peach-headed woman made her way over to Siren and sat down next to where he was training, steam radiating off her body as she naturally cooled herself off. She took a quick swig of her water and decided to ask Siren a similar question to the one earlier. "What about you? Did you have the same dream?" For the eight years she'd lived in the facility, she still didn't know much about Siren. They'd really only talked when they trained or when everyone was together. Even though that was the case, Fen deeply respected him and relied on him for things no one else could handle. Like when she lost control so many years ago. He was obviously the only person who could literally calm her.

“I see, well if you can remember anything from it I’m here to talk with you as well.” Talking was not one of Sirens favorite things to do as he was more of an ‘actions speak louder than words’ kind of guy. So the fact that he was the one offering was rather strange. But he said no more on the topic and continued on finished his sets. When the last two sets for squats were finished, Siren took a small breather and watched Fen train in the simulation. While he kept quiet, he still found himself muttering advice to her and without fail she would do everything he had taught her in the past. The woman had improved quite well, and despite the negative talk on herself she was one of the better fighters that he had trained. Despite what he had said, he enjoyed that it was just himself and one other person lately just because he could take the training to a more dedicated and personal level as opposed to general lessons. By this he had taught Fen a lot more critical stuff, and she took to it quite well.

Figuring he had seen enough, the pyro stepped away from the training stage and set about his final lifting exercise. Weighted Leg raises. Taking a small chain from a bin, he wrapped it through the heaviest weight plate available before wrapping it around his ankles. Hoisting himself up to the pull-up bar, he began the same three sets of ten by lifting his legs from vertical to horizontal. It was about halfway through his third set that Fen came and sat by his station before asking him the question. He didn’t say anything right off the bat, and only the soft grunts from his workout escaped him. But after he finished, he began putting everything away and finally spoke.

“Yeah, I did.... it’s weird. Normally I don’t tend to dream but when I do it’s always the same thing. The smoke, the fire, that brute, and the woman. Even Doc can’t make any sense of it. I feel like it should be something important but.. agh never mind. I shouldn’t be bothering you with my strange dreams.”

That said, Siren left the weight area and headed for the training mat available. He began wrapping up his wrists and ankles with white tape before stepping into the mat. It was wordless, but it was obvious what he was waiting for. A Spar. Though he hadn’t said anything to Fen, he knew she’d follow and knew that she understood his behavior and methods enough to know what he was doing. Silently, he folded his arms and waited to see if she would accept his offer. It would be the first time he’d ever offer to her a full on soar match as opposed to the usual drilling. If she didn’t accept it wouldn’t matter, he’d just train with the holograms as usual.

A small "ah" left Fen's mouth as she nodded slowly, listening to each of Siren's words carefully. They both experienced troubling dreams, only he had the same one and could remember whereas she couldn't recall any of hers. Even though their situation was different, the peach-haired woman could relate to how frustrating her friend must've felt--helpless and confused, that is.

The glint in her eyes immediately changed as the pyro made his way over to a mat, one hand skillfully wrapping white tape around the other and vice versa. Fen offered a small smile in acceptance as she hopped onto her feet. She took some of Siren's tape and began wrapping her hands, squeezing and stretching her fists to make sure it wasn't too tight or loose. When she was done, she sat the roll down and got into a fighting stance. Her right fingers moved towards her body repeatedly to tell the man to make the first move.

Siren couldn’t help but grin when Fen stepped into the ring with him. Even more so when she’s started taunting him with the wave of her fingers. Bobbing around a little bit, he planned out his strategy before finally initiating the battle between the two. He started off with a simple combo that’s he was sure Fen would recognize, a one two punch set followed by a lateral kick. After the blows were thrown he gave time for Fens own retaliation before countering again.

High kick, downward elbow smash, palm strike, crushing knee press. This series of instruction continued to dart through his mind as he unleashed attack after attack. It helped keep himself calm and orderly with his strategy, as in his earlier years Siren would get too worked up and scatter minded to make any sensible approach to a fight. But after some practice he got a sense of control, which helped with the restraint needed in his powers as well.

Meanwhile, as the fight went on between Siren and Fen the man couldn’t help but smirk the entire time. Not in a taunting or rude way, but in a more endearing sense although with Siren not many could tell the difference. It was a proud feeling to have worked with his girl for so long and see her having improved to where she is now. He could still remember the early days of teaching her to block and dodge. Yelling out attack patterns before following them while she would practice the defensive. It was all so vivid even though it had been more than a few years ago. Much longer than that was of course the first day they met, also in the same vivid context.

Sirens memory was a strange thing, half the time he couldn’t tell you what he had for breakfast that day or what workout he did the day before. But with the things he did remember it was always in bright detail, and there was always a good reason for it. With the memories of Fen however he could never think of a reason as to why it all stuck. He could make the excuse of fond memories and remembering the first day he met everyone, but in the case of some of his team he wasn’t sure when the first day he’d met them was.

Fen managed to block each and every move, even though there was a slight struggle due to their contrast in strength. While Siren was on the brute strength side with blows that could probably kill on impact, Fen was more tactical. She was relatively weak physically and relied mostly on her small stature and speed. Training with Siren was always a challenge but it allowed her to work on battling larger opponents and figure out how to read their movements.

There was no winner or loser, even after ten straight minutes of grappling and grunting. The peach-haired woman was out of breath by the time she'd managed to break free of Siren, her fists still up in a defensive stance. Thankfully, a familiar feminine face popped into the arena.

"Enough training!" Daniela said, clapping her hands loudly to get both their attention. "Breakfast is ready." The older woman didn't say anything else and simply strutted out the way she came. Fen looked at Siren, eyes somewhat hesitant but also fearful of the consequences of skipping the first meal of the day. Daniela could be a scary woman and making her mad was the last thing on her to-do list.

"Rain check?" Fen stated, steam already radiating off her body as she naturally cooled herself down. She pointed her palm towards Siren and a gentle wave of frost left her hands, enveloping the taller man with cool air. She only did it for a few seconds, however, knowing full well that Siren was a pyro and didn't really mind the heat all that much.

The display of defense and tactical approach from Fen was quite impressive. Just about everything he threw at her was blocked or dodged without fail. Everything seemed almost effortless, to the point that Siren began to go weary from the constant barrage of attacks that he was to give out. If it wasn’t for Daniela’s sudden appearance in the gym, though Siren found it somewhat annoying, he surely would’ve tired out and lost the upper hand with his strength in the fight. Though he still wanted to finish the fight, Siren knew better than to try Daniela’s patience.

Breathing heavily, sweat dripping from his forehead and neck, Siren slowly nodded his head to Fen. “Raincheck.” Despite the Pyros adaptivness to heat, if there was one thing he could never overcome it was the heat of exercise. Heat from the outside he could handle easily, but the heat in his own body was another story. It didn’t help that his internal body temperature was hotter than every other human being that wasn’t a fire adept like him, so he was prone to overheating at times. That all being said, Siren found Fens icy frost much appreciated and softly thanked her for the help.

“You did very well.” Siren spoke with a hint of admiration in his voice. “Your speed and calculated movements make you an almost impossible target to hit, and even when I manage to your always on your guard. Although, I’d be a bit better at making sure you incorporate your offense into the mix. It’ll never do you any good in a fight to purely side with defense. While you’ll wear your opponent out like you were doing with me, you’ll also be taking a big toll on yourself in the process.”

Once Siren had caught his breath and had cooled down enough, he finally stood up straight before letting off a heavy sigh. Little sparks of flame could be seen in his breath. “I’m gonna get a shower before meeting with the others. I’d rather not stink up the kitchen. If you get there before me, be sure to let Daniela know I’ll be over as soon as I can so she won’t be wanting to tear my head off when I arrive.”

That said, Siren turned and left the training room while the service boys came in and began cleaning everything up. Heading straight for his room, the pyro quickly stripped down upon his arrival and hopped in the shower with the heat turned up high. He couldn’t stand the cold and would avoid it at all costs. Siren zoned out for a while as the water washed over his face, letting himself relax in the hot water before finally getting to the point and cleaning himself up with some soap and shampoo. After he was finished he turned the water off before hopping out and drying himself off with a towel. A quick gust of hot air took care of his shaggy blonde hair so he wouldn’t have to wait so long for it to dry. Siren then dressed in a pair of dark blue jeans, a black T-shirt, and a red jacket over top. Finally he slipped on a pair of black converse that had somewhat suspiciously been left in his room this past Christmas about ten months ago. He’d still never figured out where they came from, but he found it best not to question it. Once he was finally ready, the young man quickly headed for breakfast. His stomach growling all the while.
