As long as the necessary information is kept, it does not matter if you use BBcode or not. Of course, you may add more details if you so wish to. And in the occasion that you are an avid user of BBcode, if you can, please make it easy to read and mobile-friendly.

Participants are encouraged to use digital art and anime-styled images for their reference images / faceclaims, though realistic images are not entirely prohibited. Participants are limited to one (1) character each.

When your character is approved, you will be notified via discord and the character's name will appear on the factional character roster, located above this post.

PROFILECodename: Applicable only for Valkyrion Firm operatives. The company hires people of all backgrounds, and encourages its operatives to secure their identities behind a codename.

  Backstory: The son of the successful businessman and firearms designer Moses Kaplan, Sayre was groomed since a young age to carry on his father's legacy. Sayre led a troublesome youth before setting sights on the uniforms. An adventurous thrill-seeker with nothing to lose but his pride, Sayre enlisted in the Army when he came of age - against the wishes of his father. During his time in the military, he was able to learn a variety of trades, albeit at the cost of his youthful ideals. On the frontier, Sayre was exposed to the dark nature of aggression. Combat-induced stress and mundane exhaustion forged the once eccentric boy into a prudent and pragmatic man. The impetuous fighter was soon tamed by revelations of his father's sacrifices - all in the name of order and stability, much like the path that his son had taken. When his contract was up, Sayre was discharged from the army, and the prodigal son finally returned home after eight years spent beyond the Walls and back. Unbeknownst to Moses, Sayre applied for a job at Tritical Industries. Unable to face his father, Sayre decided to work for his father's company as a mere employee in order to prove himself worthy, as well as coming to understand his father's work. Here, he began to utilize his gifts with protective gear designs that catapulted his position within the company. Borne from his personal experiences in the field, Sayre brokered equipment designs that saved countless lives of servicemen and law enforcers alike.
  
  Having rose to the rank of Chief Technical Officer within a short span of five years, his identity was no longer kept in obscurity. He was eventually recognized and reunited with his father. Their heartfelt reunion would be brief, as Moses's ailing health finally turned for the worse. During this time, Sayre began spending time with his father until the latter finally passed. In Moses's will, Sayre was appointed the Chairman of Tritical Industries. While Tritical was entrusted to him by his father, Sayre has yet to settle in with the entirety of an exalted suit-and-tie environment. For the next two years, Sayre managed to secure several contracts to arm the peacekeepers of District Gael and District Zero. It would not take long before he was approached by the Valkyrion initiatives for his support, following the success of his company's soaring stocks. Being in charge of one of the most influential arms company in ARK, Sayre brokered countless shipments for the Firm and was inducted as a proprietary supplier of the organization. Despite his status as their primary reference of combat equipment and supplies, there are rumors of his direct involvement as a combat operative.

  Haldir Bilfin - Sayre's personal security detail. The two share a common ground as single dads and have worked alongside one another for some time to be considered close friends. Together, they are armed with lethal dad jokes.
  
  Therese Armata (Thunderwall) - As fellow Valkyrion colleagues, Sayre has been deployed alongside Therese on several details. Sparing little idle conversations between the two, Kaplan rarely contacts Armata outside of work due to confidentiality protocols.
  
  Roseya Ilana (Synthesis) - In their field of work, Section and Synthesis are responsible for various field-improvised designs that enhances the survivability of Valkyrion operatives. Thanks to their joint efforts, Valkyrion's arsenal is known for its top-of-the-line tech and reliability. Off-work, Sayre are on amiable terms with Roseya, as the two spends much time in each other's company to be considered close friends.
  
  Ronnivier (Dewdrop) - A Valkyrion associate that Sayre settled their debts in return for their services. Sayre considers this as the first step to reform the societal traditions that bound the ARK - particularly to combat Nirwana Orphanage's unethical doctrines and bring about change. Roniv works closely with Sayre as the latter's Field Technical Advisor for Tritical's asset management details.

  Tritical Industries - Tritical Industries is a weapons R&D company that develops manatech weaponry and protective equipment. Tritical is among the top ten Arms Development Companies, having won several contracts with District police and peacekeepers for their sublime drones and ergonomic carbine models for urban operations. Tritical's subsidiaries include Epsilon firearms accessories, Vertical Veracite R&D and Armadyl Robotics R&D. Under the leadership of Sayre Kaplan, Tritical's development shifted towards protective equipment and ordnance disposal drones in recent years. Tritical HQ is located in Whitehall Tower, Central Gael.
  
  Valkyrion Firm - Kaplan is a shareholder in Valkyrion Firm that supplies combat and protective equipment to most of the Firm's security details. He has a 10% share in the Firm, but rarely dictates any corporate doctrines aside from promoting the well-being of their operators and new Tritical products. While legally situated as a partnership between Tritical and Valkyrion, Kaplan actively and discreetly partakes in the Firm's combat operations under the codename "Section." Tritical-Valkyrion partnership centers around District Gael and Zero, with a variety of subsidiary offices and safehouses located in those areas to supply and aid field operators.
  
• CREDENTIALSAs a chairman of Tritical Industries, Kaplan is often described as a well-spoken and mindful leader. His charismatic values often derive from his ability to deal with problems directly, rather than relying on his associates. As a pragmatic man, Kaplan is known for his sharp eyes on the smallest details to turn things in his favor. Equipped with witty quips and actionable demeanor, Kaplan is often perceived as a tame politician and a prudent broker of relations. While disciplinary towards his employees, Kaplan shows a modicum of delicate affections for his daughter. With his wife's passing, Kaplan is keen on raising his daughter to the best of his ability.
  
  Having spent some time in the military, it is often rare for Kaplan to show any sign of docile gesture. Often times, he is specific with his words, and only choose to say what he sees without buttering up to anyone else. A cautious and stubborn soldier at heart, Kaplan is faithful to the Valkyrion cause, but with reasonable grips upon his dedication lest he become a mindless zealot. This is evident in his extensive use of manatechnology and physical prowess over reliance on Regalias. As a billionaire arms manufacturer, Sayre is a highly versatile operator with access to an array of modern weaponry, at the cost of his inability to further his arcane gifts. While fatal in combat, Kaplan exercises restraint where needed, and will only commit his blade at the moment of his choosing. Despite his stoic principles, the man suffers from acute stress disorder that can affect his performance on the field. This can lead to reclusive withdrawals and misuse of substances to cope with his personal afflictions.
  
• INVENTORYVeracite Disposable Blades (Verablades) - Verablades are composed of Veracite-Luminus alloy that are pressed to be used as standard-issued melee weapons. These lightweight blades can quickly be replaced and loaded onto an ergonomic hilt to be utilized in melee or be launched like a spring-knife. Crafted from refined Veracite, it can channel mana to dispense magic incantations, albeit with limitations. Verablades, while durable in most encounters, are susceptible to breakage when facing high-grade Regalias. Altogether, Verablades are designed for short-term defense, not prolonged skirmish.
  
  Model 925 - Kaplan's personal attire that is woven with high-quality fabrics for formal occasions, and reactive lining for Veracite-resistant capabilities. The suit's name is a reference to office hours "Nine-to-Five."
  
  O.D.I.N (Ordnance Drones; Integrated Network) - As the Chairman of Tritical Industries, Kaplan is able to connect to various Tritical Industries asset for hasty deployments to be delivered by aerial drones. Interconnected by Tritical's secure Manatechnical Network, Kaplan is able to direct these drones to support his allies and himself. These assets include but are not limited to: medical supplies, ammunition, defensive emplacements, vehicular drop, surveillance, and payload delivery. Long as there are signals.

The discrimination and blatant hatred towards the "lesser" remnants have fueled his cold, calculative rage and desire for equality. He is known among District Glaikir's discriminated as the Angel of Lessers because of his contributions and the philosophies he works hard to uphold.
  
  Occupation: Underworld Lord. Due to Zin's upbringing, he has been hopping between districts and living in the underbelly of society his entire life. He has never held a "normal" job and instead has gained power among the bottom rungs of society. However, in his youth, on rare occasions, his contracts and goals forced him to fake his way into certain jobs as an infiltrator. Such positions he took up were numerous and varied. The influence he gained through the years has reached the ears of the Syndicate, and he is now a member of the faction.

  Zin is a fair-faced man with silver hair (not the blonde shown in the picture above) and grey/silver eyes. He often wears expensive clothes when alone, but he'll wear something casual and in style, if he goes out. As a Type-E, Zin doesn't have horns, but he does have a silver halo that looks like a picked crown above his head, a thin, lizard-like tail, and 4 pairs of silver, dragon-esque wings that he can retract and hide; they look like a slower version of a humming bird's wings when in flight.   Backstory:
  
  Soon after Zin was born, he was abandoned in the dark corridors of District Zero. A gang member found him and brought him to their boss, who, after some careful consideration, decided to take him in. The gang trained him and raised him as one of their own; he stole and fought for them, learning how to fight and survive in the process. They were minor and insignificant in the grand schemes of things, but the gang was a melting pot of diversity with numerous half-breeds and Type-E's and F's, making it considerably unique. During Zin's childhood, he became fascinated by the Iscarian Pantheon. One diety drew his attention, though: death. His interest in the God of Death led him to become a casual follower.
  
  At the age of 12, Zin's gang, his family, were infiltrated by the authorities, who, being highly prejudiced against half-breeds and lesser types, ambushed them and killed any member they found. Zin was one of the few to escape. With nothing left for him in District Zero, Zin traversed the districts working odd jobs for criminal and insurgent organizations. He completed dangerous missions throughout the districts; at one point, even impersonating a politician in the Sildrynn District, earning him fame among the lower classes of society. Zin's reputation steadily grew, and he eventually found a goal to work towards. Having experienced first-hand the unfair treatment of half-breeds and other lesser types, Zin set his mind towards helping out those in need and striking back in any way he could.
  
  By the age of 25, Zin had become a well-known, connected information broker, leader, smuggler, revolutionary, and, to some, terrorist. His philosophies of equality and order, coupled with his faithfulness to the God of Death and wings, earned him the Angel of Death, among other monikers, through his ruling over his information cabal known as Death's Hand. Zin became a man of the common people, but a man shrouded from society; few ever saw him, let alone actually met him. However, one person did get close to him: his adopted daughter Illyria. In the years of his network's rise, when Zin was 22, he journeyed to District Glaikir, where his organization is based, and saved a little girl named Illyria from slavers. Having no parents and being a Type-E like Zin, Ria quickly melted Zin's heart, and he became overly fond of her as an older brother or father would. He took up both of those roles and, with Ria's permission when she turned 10, he adopted her at the age of 26.
  
  During this time, the Lotus Syndicate contacted him and attempted to bring him into the fold. Zin, agreeing with most if not all of the faction's goals and thoughts, began a steady exchange of things between his network and the Syndicate. Two years later, at the age of 27 (current time), Zin became a core member after building mutual trust and contributing heavily to the cause but remained partially separate from the group; he still had his own faction to govern.

  Lotus Syndicate - Sees Zin as an affiliated sponsor, informant, member, and confidant. The group leaders trust Zin to an extent, but due to his unwillingness to fully commit himself and his network to them, they are wary of him.

  Capabilities:
  
  Hand-to-Hand Combat - Zin has relied heavily upon his martial skills since his younger years. Through the brutal environment he grew up in, to the professional criminal underground, Zin's skills in martial combat have steadily grown. When he started to gain influence and wealth, Zin invested in himself and began studying martial arts. By doing so, he has proficiency, and some might say, mastery in hand-to-hand combat.
  
  Manatech - Zin was brought up by a gang and learned the intricacies of Manatech manipulation from a young age. Through the years, staying relevant and in business among the rungs of society came at the cost of learning and mastering Manatech. During Zin's time doing odd jobs, he would have to use devices to steal, gather information, and disappear from wandering eyes. His Manatech skills have allowed him to successfully establish and continue his organization, Death's Hand, and avoid the authorities.
  
  Stealth - With Zin's Regalia granting a camouflage ability of sorts and Zin's mastery of Manatech, Zin can seemingly disappear, keep his identity a secret, and cover his tracks. Also, due to his thin stature and quiet wings, he had to rely on stealth since childhood consistently. Thus, his stealth skills are one of his biggest boons.
  
  Leadership - Running an underground organization takes a lot of skills in management, logistics, and leadership. The establishment of Death's Hand took many years of trials and errors, which Zin learned from, to reach the point he is now: to lead his network efficiently.
  
  Silver Tongue - Getting out of trouble is one of Zin's most infamous characteristics. Growing up around a gang as a skinny kid, Zin had to rely more on wits instead of brawn.
  
  Actor - A hard-won skill, Zin's acting was born out of necessity, like most of his capabilities. The many jobs he took often needed him to improvise, blend in, and lie, so acting was a requirement.
  
  
  Weaknesses:
  
  Illyria - One of the only people to crack Zin's façade, Illyria is a person very dear to Zin's heart; she is the equivalent of a daughter to him. Zin would die for Illyria and try his very best to give her a good life away from society's underbelly, which Zin is so very familiar with. Because of his love for her, Illyria is most certainly Zin's biggest weakness.
  
  Ruthless - Something Zin learned way earlier than anyone should is that to end all future fights, you have to make sure you completely break your opponent's will to fight ever again; Zin doesn't play to win battles; he plays to win the war and all wars after. One of the reasons why Zin follows the God of Death is because of their ruthlessness. This has led Zin to adopt an efficient but brutally ruthless philosophy towards threats. This behavior has garnered him many enemies and a reputation, among some, based on fear. Such power through fear is dangerous and is one of Zin's weaknesses if utilized in the right way.

  Bodily Alteration - The spear is able to change the user's appearance, be it height, hair color, eye color, physique, etcetera. It is only able to make changes that are humanoid in nature, meaning no turning into a lizard or something isn't possible. Also, the spear itself can change appearance but only between a spear and a dagger.
  
  Shadow Manipulation - Like the element of fire, shadow too can be wielded and this spear allows the user to harness the power of shadows.

Backstory: a native of Geal district, Haldir wasn't from some upper-class business family or anything for the Bilfin family they were always the ones you hired to be the imposing person standing to your left or right Haldir was no exception such work was never too convoluted just do what the man in the suit asks. remember to play whatever role you needed to be at the time, and well he rather enjoyed it by no means dumb many of the deals and other things he'd listened in on had always remained entertaining, ended up marrying one of those business types, had a kid and as was usual their jobs became the thing that separated them, thalia having gotten a position for a rival company to Tritical Industries (Tengari inc), she wasn't all to much a fan that her husband was still working for them, got a divorce he ended up with there son not much else to say really

Description: an ornate looking sword that matches his outfit

Function: a fancy looking weapon designed mostly for style and effectiveness used mostly by such private security people as the bilfin's, it combines style with threat and function for assisting there employer and protecting them

Magic:
1: photomancy: allows the user to manipulate photons to a vast degree like shooting green beams or cool beam laser slashes or producing lights even assisting in projecting stuff for business or holographic stuff, very versatile
2: manatech disruptor: the blade is able to project a field around itself that caused variscite powered object to falter allowing it to be used to cut through objects protected by the arcane or disrupt and break objects, it van also hve the end embedded into the ground to extend the field allowing business to be conducted away form the prying eyes of machiner and recoding devices. It's effects upon other regalia are limited, possibly causing the occasional malfunction or error in its operation.

  Backstory: Therese was the fruit of an unlikely match between two Remnants. Her mother, a Type F, migrated to District Gael to flee from the warring sub-communities of District Yarjha. Her father, a reptilian Type B, was a veteran of the ARK Army, with fifteen (15) years of service under his belt. The two met by chance, with her mother being accused by her father as an illegal immigrant - only to be proved wrong shortly after he brought her to the nearest precinct.
  
  To save face, her father offered her mother dinner, which the latter didn't refuse - after all free food is free food. Strangely enough, the two swiftly hit it off and went on many more meetings - which later turned into dating, until the two were eventually wed.
  
  For a while, after Therese's birth, things went quite well - her father's retirement from ARKA allowed him to spend more time with his family, and had enough funding to support them for a long time. Her mother even got a job with decent pay, after several years of failing to do so due to the evident discrimination to the "lesser" races in the communities of Southern Gael. But in this world, nothing is everlasting - everything, in time, will reach its end.
  
  In a twisted turn of events, her mother died as the building she was working in got immolated by crazed fanatics who followed the ideals of a historic mad tyrant, preaching racial purity as their goals. The funeral was swift and silent, and her father was never the same - he lost the light in his eyes, the life in his movement. With liquor in one hand, her father wasted himself away.
  
  With the interference of her extended family, Therese was sent to live with her aunt - only pushing her father over the edge. A month after her move, her father committed suicide.
  
  To many, this is the start of a downward path. But not to Therese - molded by the teaching of her parents, she overcame the obstacles presented before her and carried on with her new life. After her studies, she enlisted herself in the ARK Army, only to be rejected for an uncharacteristic lack of slots - which eventually directed her to work for as a security guard for Valkyrion Firm. Thereafter, she was eventually scouted and recruited as a contractual operative for the same company, with the promise of higher pay and increased work benefits.

• With four (4) years of security service under her belt, Therese has developed a "sixth sense" which gives her an easier time in assessing personnel, allowing her to easily pinpoint suspicious individuals from the crowd. Additionally, she has familiarity and some level of proficiency with security-centric Manatech, such as vault doors, anti-theft alarms, and the like.
  
  Due to her roots, she is blessed with a great physique, which gives her a slight edge on certain fronts that would require a certain level of physical capability. She can lift heavy crates with more ease and efficiency compared to most, and her endurance is notably on the upper scale, lasting way longer than the average folk.
  
  Of course, with proper training from her "day" job and sufficient experience from contractual activities, she is rather proficient with physical combat - utilizing a style that involves a healthy mix of kicks and punches, with the occasional sprinkles of movements based on wrestling.
  
  She has a firm stance of keeping things non-lethal, which may prove to be detrimental in specific scenarios, especially in life-or-death situations. Her strange commitment to not use lethal weaponry has been proven to occasionally cause problematic circumstances, and while she has been frequently reprimanded to change this mindset, her strength of will has allowed her to resist such sound advice. While her mental tenacity is something commendable, there are times when one must be well, more flexible - such a trait may cause some rift to grow between her and those with whom she is associated.
• Ballistic Vest - A bullet-resistant vest, made from overlapping layers of armor, often using a mixture of lightweight steel and leather. While not quite resistant to stabbing, it provides a decent level of protection against blunt force. It comes with a number of pockets for portable storage.
  
  Spare Clothes - Neatly folded clothes, stashed in one of the vest pockets. In Gael, it pays to be prepared - there's no knowing when the rain will pour or when a car would drive by and splash mud onto one's attire.
  
  Flashlight - A Manatech gadget that allows illumination by igniting a Veracite-bulb, often used during emergency situations with a lack of illumination. Stored in one of the vest pockets, alongside a replacement battery in case the gadget's initial energy source runs out.

  Description: A sheet of premiere steel crafted into the form of a modernized shield. Unlike the older models, this Regalia takes on a more refined shape for effective storage and deployment. Therese's shield has gotten a paint job, taking on a darker shade of blue, akin to her work clothes and, well, general aesthetic.
  
  Function: The Regalia is specially crafted as a modernized riot shield, integrating the recent Manatech developments with its original main purpose. It acts akin to a riot shield, capable of blocking bullets from firearms, with the exception of armor-piercing rounds and anti-armor shells. It can withstand several explosions from a number of standard Veracite grenades, and survive a bomb blast. Located on its front are several rows of Veracite-powered LEDs, allowing it to provide frontal illumination if needed.

  Backstory: Yulia was raised mainly by her father and his close friend Sharla, as her mother had left from before she can remember. Seemingly her mother and father had split upon good terms as anytime he spoke of her, he rarely had anything bad to say, though he refused to tell Yulia the reason why they had parted ways. Whenever her father wasn't home for longer periods of time due to the Lotus Syndicate she would stay with her aunt, a rowdy Type-D who gave a bit too much freedom to Yulia in her younger years. Usually Yulia spent her free time like any other normal young girl. It was pretty easy to hide that she was a half-breed since her mother was Type-A. Her wings were a bit smaller than normal but aside from that she could realistically pass as a Type-E.
  
  There was one friend that she particularly took interest in during her adolescent years. The only person aside from her family who knew she was a half breed was another half-breed, her best friend Ren Yukimura, a Type-C/B. Unfortunately however him and his parents were both found out, and we're essentially public shamed. Ren was constantly bullied for his heritage and eventually took his life due to the stress and anxiety. Yulia was devastated. She was only able to watch on the sidelines as her best friend was ridiculed and discriminated against for something he had no control over. What made these supposed pure-bloods so much better? What made it okay for them to push a kid to the brink and over the edge?!It was ridiculous in Yulia's mind.
  
  Eventually as the years passed Yulia's father slowly revealed what he had been doing for the past decade with the Lotus Syndicate and it resonated with her. Until more people change their ways, more cases like Ren are guaranteed to happen. She took it upon herself to help stop it, and her father began training her, eventually using his seniority within the organization to allow her to join. Shortly after her initiation however, her father had to preemptively throw in the towel after what was supposed to be a simple intel gathering mission near district zero went awry due to a breach, her father had lost his right arm as well as his wings and was severely injured. Yulia's resolve never wavered though and promised her father that she would finish what he had started. Now armed with his gear and regalia she pushes forward hoping to sway the hearts and minds of the residents of the ARK.

  CREDENTIALSYulia is often described by her father as a headstrong girl with a strong sense of justice. Though that often comes with the downside of being too stubborn for her own good. She isn’t introverted or anti-social, but rarely speaks unless she sees a reason for doing so or a cost associated with not doing so. When she does engage with others in a casual setting, she does so with quiet intensity and precise word-choice. While she isn’t incapable of humor, her dry sarcasm and monotone delivery can cause the “joke” to sail right over a person’s head. To her, everything is a mission, be it going to the store for some groceries or infiltrating a secure corporate database, and she remains laser-focused on whatever mission she is currently undertaking. • BIOGRAPHY
  __Vae’s father, Zephram Quintess, was said to be a genius in the field of neuroscience and manatech. He quickly rose from a lowly intern fresh out of university to head of research and development at his family’s company and many or his peers expected him to reach society’s upper echelons before the age of thirty. He was a pureblood Type C of noble upbringing, burdened with the gifts of being a true paragon of his race. Little did they know, none of his ‘genius ideas’ were his own.
  
  __Enter Nimue Solais, a Type B the likes of which he had never seen before. Her beautiful plumage is what first caught his eye. Her sharp wit and vast intellect came shortly after. He neither knew nor cared how this resplendent creature had charmed its way into one of Sildrynn’s most prestigious universities, nor how her grades were always better than his, no matter how many late nights spent studying together. All he knew was that he enjoyed her presence more than someone of his station should.
  
  __Thankfully, his time with “that disgusting beast girl” --their words, not his-- was brought to a swift halt. The moment it became clear Nimue was smarter than the bigoted knife-ears around her, her srudent Visa was revoked, and she was deported back to Yarjha. Zeph was finally able to refocus on his studies, despite losing his muse. He graduated as a mediocre student, with mediocre grades, moved on to an internship at his family’s company, and would likely have lived on in obscurity if not for her intervention.
  
  __Apparently, their brief time together had left an impression on her as well, but they lived in separate worlds now. In truth, they always had. That is simply how things are in ARK, with its walls and districts and castes -- their romance never stood a chance. Nevertheless, he began to visit her in Yarjha. The two quickly fell in love, but the cultural divide continued to be a strain on their relationship. She urged him to use his familial connections to get her a position at his company, but they both knew his people would never allow such a thing.
  
  __Instead, he began to pay for her ideas. He passed off her research as his own and moved up the corporate ladder, while funneling just enough cash for her to live comfortably. They both knew this was a toxic relationship, but, at the time, it seemed the best way for them to remain in one another’s lives. He enjoyed the prestige of being a premier manatech researcher in Sildrynn, while his secret lover withered in obscurity. He enjoyed a penthouse apartment with views of the World Tree, while she spent nights trembling beneath cold bedsheets, while gunfire popped off outside.
  
  __The stress on their relationship finally reached its breaking point when she became pregnant with their daughter. Yarjha was no place to raise a child, but bringing this beast-woman and their half-breed abomination into Sildrynn was unthinkable. And, for him, leaving his home district was equally unthinkable. Every remnant has its proper place in ARK. His was Sildrynn. Hers was… anywhere but by his side. “Give me time,” he said, as his wife’s belly grew and her patience thinned. “I’ll figure it out.”
  
  __Nine months was not enough time. Eventually, she stopped answering his calls. He traveled to Yarjha in a mad panic and found her apartment empty. Zephram fell into a deep depression. This had all been brought about by his own indecisiveness and unwillingness to break from the (un)natural order. He spent a small fortune searching for any signs of her. His position at the company waned. He fell into ruin. Many years later, he found her in District Zero. The once-beautiful avian woman whose kind eyes and warm demeanor had entranced him was now cold, ruthless, and seemed to take delight in his downfall.
  
  

  __She was clearly beyond salvation, but perhaps he could rescue the one good thing they had made together. He inquired about their daughter, but couldn’t get a straight answer out of her, only that she had vowed to, “destroy everything you created.” He knew she didn’t mean an abortion. For reasons he couldn’t explain, he knew she was alluding to something far more sinister and tragic. A few days after the encounter, Zephram put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger.
  
  __From the moment she was brought into this world, Vaetrix was raised to be a tool of vengeance, a vessel to carry her mother’s hatred, a dagger aimed squarely at ARK’s beating heart. She was sold to one of Yarjha’s many warring factions as soon as she was old enough to hold a weapon. Her mother’s reasoning was, “if my daughter cannot endure this, she is of no use to me.” She underwent brutal training, learned to maintain and fire a gun before she could read and write. Her small size would make her a perfect infiltrator, but her abnormally large wings got in the way. So, they cut them off. She saw more violence and bloodshed in the first decade of her life than many see in a lifetime.
  
  __But war in Yarjha is not a constant. Another pesky treaty put a damper on the conflict, leaving no purpose for her and others like her. In peacetime, the players shuffle their decks, seeking a better hand. Vaetrix was seventeen when she was sold at auction to a shady PMC, which is where she reunited with her mother, who gloated that this had been the plan all along. For years, the woman had been observing from the shadows and seized the opportunity to take back her “unwanted” daughter. Thus began the next phase of their complex mother-daughter relationship.
  
  __Vae became her mother’s assistant and apprentice, working on manatech and communications. She was technically hired as a soldier, to make use of the skills she’d picked up in Yarjha’s hot zones, but spent more time in her mother’s workshop than out in the field. The true war would not be fought with guns and bombs. The true enemy is not flesh and bone, but ideas and ideals. Still, their relationship was far from affectionate. If not for their similar appearances, most would not know they were related at all. Nimue was a fountain of knowledge and Vae a sponge, soaking up every drop, arming herself for the future.
  
  __“Knowledge is power. Never be found powerless,” her mother would say. “Guns, tech, influence, money, health, beauty… these things will come and go. But what you know will always remain with you.” Vaetrix had seen enough traumatic head injuries to know this was not necessarily true… but she understood what her mother was trying to say and has lived her life by those words. Seek new knowledge and new experiences. Arm yourself with these things and use that power to enact your will upon the world. The deeper she looked into ARK’s power structures and its people, the clearer her vision of the enemy became.
  
  __For the first time in her life, Vaetrix knew what she needed to do and who she needed to do it to. No orders, no commanders, no assignments, no contracts. Her mission was clear. Hers and no one else’s.
  
  __She was 22 when the PMC was raided for various crimes, ranging from child labor and slavery to illegal tech and unlicensed inter-district operations. Its leaders were all killed or arrested. Amidst the chaos, Vae’s mother urged her to stand down. There is a time to fight and a time to let fate run its natural course; this moment was the latter. Nimue was sentenced to ten years in a maximum-security prison for her involvement in the group’s activities, while Vae was released, on account of her being a victim in their eyes, rather than a willing participant.
  
  __Vaetrix continued on as a normal civilian in District Zero, but did so with a lingering bitterness and knowledge that this world had repeatedly taken everything from her and continues to do so for many others. It’s not going to stop. And ignoring it makes her complicit. Warfare is in her blood -- this city put it there. The only question is how to fight and where to begin? The last seven years has given her plenty of time to figure that out. Despite working with Lotus, her dissatisfaction with their ineffectiveness has only grown. It’s clear they can’t bring about the change they preach. She would have to do it herself…

  PASSIVE SKILLSHer small stature allows her to disappear into crowds and literally slip in and out of tight spaces with relative ease. Likewise, she is also quite physically fit, continues to train daily, and is more well-muscled than she appears, which can cause enemies to underestimate her. Although her wings were surgically removed, her avian physiology has given her a surprising amount of dexterity, agility, and exceptionally sharp eyesight, and she is intelligent enough to turn details she sees into an advantage. Her ability to think on the fly and identify and exploit opportunities is probably her greatest skill.
  NON-COMBAT SKILLSVaetrix is a hacker by trade, well-versed in most of the commonly-used computing languages and has prepared a suite of bots, viruses, and daemons for cracking most well-known encryption algorithms. She also continues to build upon her knowledge of ARK’s infrastructure, specifically the inner workings of District Zero and the Walls. Vae is also accustomed to navigating urban settings on foot and often sees the city as a puzzle to be solved. Slipping into alleys, sliding over dumpsters, down garbage chutes, into and out of air ducts… to call it “parkour” would be a slight exaggeration. She just “flows” through the concrete jungle.
  COMBAT SKILLSVae is an exceptional marksman. High-caliber long guns, such as snipers and/or anti-materiel rifles are her specialty, but she’s equally skilled with other firearms, as well as knives and crafting improvised explosive devices. Her hand-to-hand proficiency is nothing to scoff at, but her small stature puts her at a disadvantage against opponents with longer reach, which is where her agility and terrain-traversal skills come into play. She has seen the horrors of war, inside and outside of the Walls, against Remnants and monsters, so few things surprise her. Staying cool under pressure and knowing when to fight and when to melt into the shadows is her strongest ability in combat.
  KNOWN ASSOCIATESZephram Quintess: (Type C) her father, deceased. Was a renowned manatech researcher, until his rapid fall from grace. He took his own life at age 28, when Vaetrix was only 5.
  
  Nimue Solais: (Type B, 51); her mother, currently incarcerated. An intelligent, but manipulative and cruel woman, with an uncanny gift for manatech and information systems. She sold her talents to various criminal organizations. She fashioned her own custom regalia, known as Master’s Hand, which is believed to be slowly killing her and driving her insane.
  
  The Knights of Arnhalek’r: the militant branch of a religious faction within Yarjha. Their banner is a red sun and they believe all faithful should fall under one rule. (Their name loosely translates as “all under the sun.”) Vae served as a child soldier with them for nearly ten years. Arnhalek’r still exists today, albeit in a quieter form… for now.
  
  Elysian Enterprises: the Quintess family company, a mid-tier player in the field of manatech. They specialize in organic-machine interfaces and also make a lot of non-manatech computer hardware and software. Still run by the Quintess family, which technically makes Vaetrix a potential heir.
  
  Invictus Partners: A now-defunct PMC, for whom Vaetrix and her mother worked. Publicly, they offered security services beyond the Wall, as well as within Districts Zero, Yarjha, and occasionally Gael. Privately, they engaged in human trafficking, smuggling, and acted as muscle for various criminal organizations.
  
  Garrett Archer: (Type A, 38) A police officer in District Zero. An archetypical “good cop” who was present for the Invictus raid and handled Vae’s case file. He regularly checks up on her. Probably the only person she even marginally gives a shit about, as long as he doesn’t get too close.
  
  The Providential: A peaceful, but mischievous religious sect within District Zero with ties to the Syndicate. While Vaetrix has no desire to be associated with religious zealots of any kind, they are sort of her neighbors. She secretly observes their movements, mostly so she can stay clear of whatever they’re up to.
  
  ”Hana:” (Type AF, 27) The “Red Terror of District Zero, a violent boogeyman who happens to be a fellow Lotus Syndicate operative. Although they have never met, Vaetrix invests time and effort into covering Hana’s tracks by deleting security footage and doctoring police reports, to avoid negative PR for the Syndicate.
  
  Jane Exeter (Type A, 28) A shady cop in Gael. Although they have never met in-person, Vaetrix has frequently leaked evidence to her under various pseudonyms and views Exeter as a morally-gray, but reliable, means of bringing ARK’s worst to justice.
• GEARGX-995 gen. IV: Vae’s main laptop computer, arguably the most dangerous “weapon” she possesses. It is based on an old model, manufactured by Elysian Enterprises, but has been heavily modified, with an upgraded CPU, extended battery, EMP shielding, and sealed, bulletproof case, rated for submersion up to a depth of 30m. The GX-995 is still in production today, and is now up to gen XXII… but they don’t make ‘em like they used to.
  
  Bodysuit: nothing special, just a skintight body stocking. Abrasion-resistant, fire-retardant, and knife-resistant (protects against slashes, but not stabbing). She owns a few of them, in various colors, from various manufacturers. This is part of her daily attire, because sometimes you gotta jump out of a moving vehicle or slide down a trash chute to escape a burning building. Life happens, so dress appropriately.
  
  Workshop: Vaetrix owns a somewhat normal apartment, but also maintains a second residence nearby, under a pseudonym, where she stores various tools of her trade, ranging from computer parts, an electronics workbench, a 3d printer, welder, chemistry set, torture chamber, and armory. She probably spends more time there than in her actual home and is a strong believer in doing things herself and acquiring new skills and trades.
  
  WEAPON
  

  Hraesvelgr: The Manatech-Assisted Long-Range Payload Delivery System, aka Hraesvelgr, is (or was) an anti-materiel rifle designed by Vae’s mother with the intention of being sold to a future client. Needless to say, that never happened. Vae is currently in possession of the only working prototype. Despite its bespoke nature, it is mostly constructed of easily-sourced parts from commonplace items, many of which aren’t even weapons, making maintenance a breeze once you know how it all goes together: anti-grav cells from a hoverbike; extrusion injectors from an industrial mill; various electronics and sensors; etcetera, etcetera…
  
  The nearly five-foot long railgun uses electromagnetism to extrude a globule of highly-viscous liquid metal at extremely high velocity, which then solidifies in flight. The longer it travels, the harder it becomes. When used at close range, a shot from Hraesvelgr carries enough force to stop a truck, but is too soft to pierce. (It’s a bit like getting hit with a wad of superheated molasses.) However, at full range, its projectile becomes a deadly javelin of solid metal. Somewhere in the middle is a sweet spot where its shots are hard enough to pierce armor, but still soft enough to inflict blunt trauma instead of punching through like a giant needle. It is reloaded bolt-action-style, using a small slide/lever to inject its liquid metal ammunition into the EM chamber and eject spent canisters.
  
  Veracite-powered anti-gravity cells eliminate recoil, keeping the Hraesvelgr rock solid when firing, while also lightening the weapon to improve mobility, but can make movement feel weird. The gun’s smart computer compensates for dynamic forces, which gives it a strange ‘floaty’ feel, which can take some getting used to. Likewise, the weapon is smart enough to sense when it is being dropped or thrown and will slow its descent or hover in place to avoid damage. It can even be ordered to autonomously follow its wielder or fly to another location, but can only be fired or reloaded manually. Vaetrix owns other weapons, but the Hraesvelgr is, by far, her most unique, and doesn’t see action often.

  REGALIA

  NAME: “Master Key”

  DESCRIPTION:There are two main components to Vae’s Regalia. The first is a pair of black, surgically-implanted nodes imbedded in her back, where her wings used to be. Dark veins can be seen around them. This part taps into her nervous system and is permanently installed, with the exception of two, small veracite power cells and their associated circuitry, which can be extracted and replaced during routine maintenance.
  
  The second and most visible part of her regalia is a plain choker made of silvery metal, which serves as a transmitter, usually hidden under her collar. Its diameter is variable, allowing it to be worn as a bracelet, anklet, tiara, or concealed in her pockets, but it functions best when kept near her central nervous system, such as on her head or neck. The Master Key can function without the transmitter, but loses all range and requires direct contact.
  SPECIAL ABILITIESMaster Key:The Regalia’s unique ability (and its intended function) is to serve as a human-machine interface, allowing its user to telepathically “hack” into computerized devices, sort of like a form of mind-control, mind-reading, or remote access, even for devices not connected to a network. Technomancy, basically. Frequent use carries the risk of “losing oneself” in the code. The Master Key was invented by Vaetrix’s mother, who created an earlier version with similar functionality, and it is likely what caused her slow descent into madness. The one she created for her daughter is supposed to be more stable, but only time will tell.
  
  Live Wire: Allows the user to harness and manipulate electricity. Cannot generate its own electrical output, but can amass significant amounts of power by tapping into nearby sources. With sufficient control, manipulation of magnetic fields or EMP-like bursts are also possible.
  
  Spark Step: a crude form of short-range teleportation, where Vae’s body becomes pure electricity and arcs to the nearest conductive medium, like a lightning strike. It is difficult to control and quite disorienting. Its range can be increased by building up a sufficient electrical charge before casting.
• MISCELLANEOUS
  <<>>Vaetrix anonymously publishes manifestos, treatises, and essays under random, bird-related pennames, such as “Little Bird,” “Screaming Eagle,” “Vigilant Owl,” etcetera. She mostly does this to organize her thoughts and maintain ‘mission clarity,’ but a few have gained popularity amongst Lotus members and sympathizers. She, of course, denies any involvement.
  
  <<>>She likes children --or at least likes what they represent-- despite being comically bad at interacting with them. Although she has no desire to have any of her own, Vaetrix can be very protective of others’ offspring. While she isn’t typically cruel, her darkest impulses come out when dealing with those who abuse, exploit, or negatively influence underage victims.
  
  <<>>Vaetrix almost never eats large meals but, if given even a few minutes of down time, will start snacking. Almost always has dried fruit, nuts, jerky, or such in her possession, with an emphasis on nutritional value over taste. This is probably a relic of her days as a child solder. She keeps herself mission-ready at all times, “never too hungry to think, but never too full to fight.”
  
  <<>>Despite her storied past, Vaetrix has a clean criminal record and takes care to keep it that way. Maintaining her “average, law-abiding citizen” persona is becoming increasingly important to her.   BackstoryJane Exeter is the kind of woman with no recorded past, but seemingly popped up one day as one of the most influenced women in the underworld dealing of Gael. An average private eye could dig up at most a whole paragraph about her, which would comprise mostly of her army days, and some more on the recent cases with her name attached in the role of an inspector. But to go any further is to trespass on the ground reserved only for those who know well the risk involved.
  
  One then would find that her beginning was rather humble for so well kept a secret. She grew up in Exeter Orphanage, which coined her last name and many other children under its roof. At ten years of age, she left the place, not through adoption or promotion to a better-funded public boarding school, but of her own record, on a quiet Sunday night when no one was looking. She spent the next seven years living on the street before enlisting in the army. After three years as a sharpshooter, she was promoted to officer rank and in a few months attained the 2nd lieutenant insignia for going above and beyond the call of duty. It's also at the time that she was reunited with an old playmate from the orphan days - John Exeter. But the newly reignited friendship was short-lived as the boy was killed in action not long after.
  
  Then almost immediately, as if the boy's death had awakened something in her, Jane abandoned the promising military career and returned to Gael, where she worked as a beat officer for two years. Then came the most turbulent time in Jane’s life. She became the woman you call when in need of bypassing all the needlessly complex legal procedures – a cop known for infamous deeds. People learned to be wary of her, and even within the force, rookies were told to avoid getting on the woman's bad side, or to get involved with her daily dealing at all. Despite the ensuing infamy, the woman easily secured a position in the CID and came to enjoy the backing of a less than virtuous but highly respected district court judge. Having a powerful patron and an unofficial position as his hidden hand in the judicial world, she freely expanded her business in the underworld, which soon prospered thanks to her growing network of connections and exceptionally high success rate as a hired woman.
  
  With high rewards come high risks. There has been no shortage of attempts for her life from both sides of the legality line. But what the many breaches couldn't accomplish in her army days, the hitmen couldn't either. After countless futile attempts on her life, business partners and rivals nicknamed her Immortal Jane. One man successfully earned the full extent of her wrath, however – an Investigator of Internal Affairs, Thomas Acardy. Being an up and coming investigator, Acardy was determined to root out the bad apples in the police force, starting with the most notorious of them all. But alas, his effort led him to an impenetrable wall of backings and connections behind the woman. In a desperate move, he traced her cash flow to Exeter Orphanage. Unaware of his own coming downfall, the investigator declared the orphanage a shady business and possibly a money-laundering hub. The next Monday, he was found half bleeding to death on a shallow bank, bearing a total of twenty-seven stabbing wounds on his body. Only his mouth was left intact to tell the tale, which was an anti-climatic one of how he'd accidentally tumbled off a bridge. Since then every sane man has known not to touch Immortal Jane's property.
  
  PersonalityIt’s difficult to love a woman like Jane. She’s not the most friendly person, if not the opposite, she would rather seal tight her emotions than leaving them on full display like some do to express how human they are. As a proud type A, she sees no need to convince others of the fact. Yet contrary to her outward disposition, Jane is surprisingly in tune with human feelings – a part of her success in a line of business where trust is nonexistent. She can simply feel, instead of basing her judgment on petty psychological signs like twitching eyes or sweating palms.
  
  Though vain, Jane is not wasteful with her assets, in fact, she does her own accounting and number crunching with a precision on par with the most meticulous accountants. But in tense situations, which leaves little time for careful calculation, her decisions are made lightning fast, even if they don’t always lead to good outcomes, she’s never known for hesitation in combat.
  
  In her free time, Jane’s most favorite hobby is shopping. She had accumulated a mountain of useless junks to the point of renting another apartment just to store the older ones. Throwing things away is never an option. She can spend hours comparing prices of something that amounts to less than a percent of her daily income.
  
  Lastly, her ruthlessness scales with her ambition, which is ever extended further from where she’s currently at. The jobs she’s willing to take range from petty protection fees for local businesses to assassinations. Despite being rather straightforward in direct confrontation, she’s definitely not beyond cheap tricks, treachery and disturbing torture methods. The one exception she has is any job involving children – she would rather take on a whole armed force than spend more than an hour in the same room with a ten year old.

  Strategic minded and detail-oriented, Jane is no stranger to crucial assessments of survival rate and battlefield wide tactics. On the other hand, she’s known for putting herself and her subordinates in high risk situations to achieve victories at all cost - fighting alongside her is not always a sound idea. But in fight or perish situations, she has few equals.
  
  Her fighting method is extremely brutal and merciless. Once entered a fight, she never holds back. If given the options, she’ll employ cheap tricks as much as she would frontal assaults, but one thing never varies: her commitment to eliminating all those who have raised arms against her.
  
  Jane is professionally trained as a soldier and police officer, so most forms of practical combats are known to her. But her most remarkable skill set involves firearms, which has become an art form more than just putting holes in her target. A handgun in her hand is far more deadly than machines guns in the hands of trigger happy gangsters.
  
  Despite being able to control her emotion to an inhuman degree her biggest weakness is the Exeter Orphanage, the childhood home she keeps donating a hefty sum every month but never once revisited in adulthood.

  When the Bloodseed Pass comes into contact with the blood of any wounded organic being, their wound will regenerate rapidly. However, if the damage is internal, a wound must be opened to allow the Pass to be soaked in the blood around the damaged organs. This ability only works if permitted by the Pass Master.
  
  Duplication (Unique):
  The card allows its user to duplicate almost anything in its current state. For example, if a fired bullet is duplicated by this Pass, its duplications will also follow the original’s trajectory and velocity. The duplications’ duration of existence and amount is reduced the more complex their origin's structure is. Something as simple as a bullet can be copied up to a hundred times, while something as complex as an organic creature can only last at most a few seconds, and not likely to be duplicated more than once. One exception is when the pass is soaked in the target’s blood, the duplication can then last for hours and is fully obedient to the Pass Master, though the complexity of the original can still affect this ability’s effectiveness.

  Drive: Cedrix did not have to think much about allying himself with the Lotus Syndicate, finding himself and many others convinced that helping would supply them and their frail parents and seniors. He sees the position as akin to a hero helping the poor in need, believing he can pay back his parents for all they've done for him through this work. The leader of his emigrant religious sect explained how the Syndicate's emergence was willed by the God of Order; the coming of a superior system to replace the old. A system to protect all equally, including his and many others' family members within the commune. The thrilling promise of a "faithful system" awaits, should the Lotus Syndicate show victory; according to his sect leader, of course, which is good enough a word for him.
  
  Occupation: Born to and raised by an independent commune of religiously faithful Type-D, Cedrix only knows the world of his religious sect. As his parents were prominent sponsors and devotees to the group, Cedrix was chosen by the sect leader as their representative in order to hanlde their affairs with groups such as (though discretely) the Lotus Syndicate. Other than that, he's a poor vagrant.

  Backstory: "Historically known as the head of the Iscarian Pantheon, the God of Order is responsible for keeping all the divinities in line. It is said that the God of Order created a set of rules to govern the divinities, to prevent excessive divine intervention and unnecessary interactions with the mortals and the world. Going against these rules would merit divine punishment, and examples of such have been demonstrated in the religion's history. Those devoted to this divinity often consider the various laws of ARK's district as sacred and absolute, as a consequence of the scriptures regards the God of Order, most of which express the importance of law and order."
  
  So when Meira Zarlow, the religious leader of a poor Type-D community who worked her way from the bottom of the barrel, claimed to hear otherwise, it was borderline heresy. She heralded a different will from the God of Order, clashing with the official monarchs and the entirety of the the population. A will that contrasted the basic beliefs of the God of Order. Why would He forsake his own set of rules?
  
  But Meira held firm. There was no proper motive for her actions. No reason why she would throw away her hard-earned position by spewing nonsense. Yet, in an act of clear defiance, she ventured alone to a population of Type-C. Facing their snark and insults, she climbed upon a pedestal and held her arms to the side, daring for providence to punish her for speaking so.
  
  Silence.
  
  They erupted with anger and jeers as Meira calmly left the building. To her, there was no place for a "prophet" like herself to stay within the messy, discriminatory politics of Sildrynn. With haste, she returned to her hometown, a dirt poor village only granted better conditions because of her effort. To its locals, Meira Zarlow was their savior. So when she recited her beliefs to them, how the God of Order's will bestowed onto her, and how the politicians of Sildrynn did everything they could to speak ill of her, they sided with the woman they trusted. She proposed for them to join her in a pilgrimage beyond the district walls, where they could fulfill His will as a religious sect. They agreed, and she now had a commune of followers.
  
  At the time, they mostly comprised parents and their newborn children, who suffered less than fortunate situations before joining Meira. Among the newborn was one Cedzislar Drixton, son to Relioma and Idan Drixton. He was too young at the time to have any fond memories of Sildrynn.
  
  Despite the cries and pleas of those who stayed, they and Meira filled the necessary paperwork, packed their bags, and emigrated out of District Sildrynn. The old village was left a shell of its former self, abandoned by its one and only source of aid. And, for months, they traveled. In search of what, Meira was never specific about. She carried a steadfast determination, but for what, it seemed as if even she had no clue. Few places accepted the group of travelers, sneering at them as their supplies ran low and resorted to begging.
  
  A few years later, Meira had grown desperate to find a place for her will. The group all exhausted themselves in a futile effort to follow their leader. Still, they remained faithful to her and the God of Order. A fact that Meira is eternally grateful for. The sect eventually landed in District Zero, building a large, crude shelter to house all of them while Meira tried to think of what to do next. It is there in "the Block" that the commune lived until present day.
  
  Now calling themselves "The Providential," its already senior members were growing old and weak. Their children were growing into curious teens, and Meira herself found herself mentally worn.
  
  In a way, she though, perhaps this was the divine punishment; one fitting for the current time. A fall to rock bottom with little chance to climb out.
  
  With the few other youth in the sect, they naturally befriended each other. Cedrix would lead them outside the Block at night, something that the adult members frowned upon but never denied them to do. They explored the district without the restrictive need to follow Meira, nimbly navigating throughout DIstrict Zero like rats in tunnels. Their recreation soon became the sect's only source of food and income, as Cedrix and his friends took advantage of the near-lawless nature of the district. They sneaked food and Credits off of people without their notice, but almost never resorted to harming to threatening them; they didn't have the heart to do that.
  
  They also served as Meira's source of news from the outside world, for she had to tend to the ill within the Block. Cedrix would supply her with headlines about one such faction: The Lotus Syndicate.
  
  And, after a long period of silence, Meira finally heralded another message. They were to aid the Lotus Syndicate in their endeavors. That joining will find them the comfort and help they needed for so long. The newborns were all in their 20s, now. Their parents were old and unfit to venture out. Some lay sick for days in a row. Cedrix and many others found themselves convinced that helping the Lotus Syndicate would help their seniors more than their simple excursions in District Zero. That they would be heroes paying back their frail parents for all the support they've given.
  
  More excited than anything, Cedrix and his friends agreed to Meira's proclamation. In someway or another, she got into contact with one of their members. What exactly her role is and what promise she held for the Lotus Syndicate was unknown to them. All Cedrix needs is to help his parents.
  
  Relations:
  
  Meira Zarlow - The leader of her emigrant, religious sect, The Providential. A known separatist in her home district of Sildrynn, Meira led her commune out of the district following disputes with her heralding different messages from the God of Order. After opposing many prominent members of the monarchy, she gathered her small amount of followers and left. Though Meira's motives and actions are erratic and grey, her care for her commune is unquestionable. Despite the group's poor condition, has donated to others in need on multiple occasions. She deeply cares for her loyal followers and their children, including Cedrix. Though he's loyal to the Lotus Syndicate, Meira's word always comes first.
  
  Relioma Drixton - Cedrix's father, already showing signs of age and can barely shamble across the apartment building. He spends most of his day beside his bed-ridden wife.
  
  Idan Drixton - Cedrix's mother, confined to a bed day and night because of a crippling illness.
  
  The Providential - A religious sect emigrated from District Sildrynn, led by Meira Zarlow for over 20 years. Only made up of a small number of Type-B, the majority of old age, while a few are young and able. Their devotion to the pantheon is unshakeable, but their primary focus is with the God of Order, who they worship daily. They all live in a crude apartment in District Zero called "The Block." They're known lapdogs partisans for the Lotus Syndicate, earning a negative reputation from the public, although the only known face within the commune is Meira's. Cedrix despises it when people call them a cult, for its members can show genuine kindness, save for their half-eccentric leader.
  
  The Lotus Syndicate - Cedrix and the other young members of his commune are reliable gunrunners, informants, reconnaissance, and in general people for any minor job they need. Whereas Cedrix's friends specialize in only one subject, he is fairly skilled in all areas and is the most flexible/reliable.
  
  Valria Idelle - One of Cedrix's friends; a quiet girl who easily falls into the background, able to hear things which usually aren't meant for hearing. Valira's unexpectedly good at reconaissance and running away.
  
  Cahlun Lorlea - One of Cedrix's friends; an unusually grim boy for a Type-D, preferring to focus on fiddling with gadgets. Cahlun is how Cedrix is decently knowledgeable in manatach and gunrunning certain munitions, and through a string of middlemen tied to Tritical, is the reason that the Providential can get their hands on dangerous manatech.
  
  Nayli Alestra - One of Cedrix's friends; a social girl with a way of words and a convincing tone. Nayli's surprisingly slow physically, but makes up for it in her charisma and positive attitude.

  Out of Combat: Thanks to the time he had to spend independent in order to help his parents and the commune, Cedrix has grown nimble and to be a skilled tinkerer. He can scale up small buildings and gateways with ease or find an undiscovered passageway after some time of exploring. After some learning from his friend, Cahlun, he's knowledgeable in the assembly of basic manatech and can disassemble them in seconds. He's able to MacGuyver what he can in what the situation calls for just using things around him. Cedrix sketches out his findings, mappings, and hiding places in his sketchpad for later use. Wherever he goes, he always maintains a playful attitude, getting excited when discovering new places and things. His stature makes him excel in trespassing areas with little notice; in reconnaissance and info-gathering.
  
  In Combat: Cedrix is just as nimble and playful in combat as he is outside. He plays a game of dodge and weave, with a high endurance, he tries to outlast the opponent's attacks until they tire out or he finds an escape. Needless to say, he isn't suitable for hand-to-hand combat, preferring to stay within stealthy means and surprise the enemy when they least expect it. Cedrix has never killed anyone, and he doesn't plan to anytime soon; the thought has never even entered his mind. Nor does he want to let a person die on his watch, willing to dive for their life rather than take a chance to escape. He preferred method of winning is through incapacitation or fleeing.

Its nondescript facade allows him to carry it almost anywhere. It can be played normally, but he is... unskilled at music.
  
  Function: A discrete tool that can provide convincing distractions. Without magic, it's a regular flute.
  
  Magic:
  Explosive Performance - By covering all holes on the flute and blowing it in a certain direction, Cedrix sends a bright, orange stick-like projectile that creates an enormous, fiery explosion upon impact. However, the explosion emits no heat, no shockwave, no flames, or any damage. It's merely a movie-like spectacle that looks identical to a horrifying disaster. If done in a room, the spell doubles as a flashbang.
  
  Vocal Range - By playing the flute to a certain pitch, it can mimic voices that Cedrix (the person) has heard. He can speak any sentence in the person's tone. To whoever hears it, the direction of the voice can sound like it comes from a completely different direction to Cedrix.

  Backstory:
  Roseya was born in District Ixia, brought into the world by her parents who were both Type-B. 3 years later, her younger sister followed and the year after that, her younger brother.
  
  The three of them grew up in a healthy community within District Ixia. Her mother was a physician that specialized in all of the known races while her father worked for a private security firm. Unfortunately, that meant that there wasn't much time spent where the whole family was together. Most days, it was either one parent or the other who could be home and even then, it was usually left up to Roseya to take care of her siblings when she got older.
  
  One good thing that came out of the extra time alone was her developed interest in manatech. As a child, Roseya's father always told stories of how manatech runs the world, its origins and how it became what it was today. All this fueled her imagination and curiosity and at a young age, Roseya declared that she "wanted to make her own manatech".
  
  She studied hard in school, picking up a job at a nearby store when she was 16 to start getting money for herself. Over time, Roseya converted her room into a workshop, complete with a high-end computer system and small machinery to study through disassembly and experimentation. When Roseya entered university, she discovered there was more than just manatech as a technology. She ended up studying computer science and mechatronics in addition to manatech.
  
  Roseya spent 5 years in university. Midway through, she was given the opportunity to intern at an appliance production company that had ties to the Valkyrion Firm. This was the first time Roeseya was involved with the firm. She graduated as the valedictorian of her class and by that point, had caught the attention of Valkyrion for her exceptional performance at the partner company. It was only a few months later until Valkyrion reached to Roseya and offered her a direct position within the firm, to which she accepted. She was placed in their Research and Development branch, specializing in civilian manatech. Her dreams of creating her own technologies came into fruition as she had the opportunity to work on different teams that developed projects from schematics and designs to fully-working products the public began to use.
  
  Her hard work within the firm didn't go unnoticed, naturally. Her higher-ups began shifting her around to supplement and assist other departments, such as the military sub-branch and its specializations. After just 3 years, the head of the R&D branch resigned and Roseya was chosen to take their place. At the same time, she was enlisted as an operative for the firm, propelling her work into more classified and info-sensitive projects. Occasionally, she's also sent out to the field when necessary.

  Directing an entire department of the Valkyrion Firm is no easy feat, but with her swift, direct leadership style and logical thinking, Roseya keeps everything under control. Her attention to detail is second to few and her persistence knows no bounds. Having excelled her in schooling, she's no stranger to multitasking and can quickly work through any problems that try to slow her down. Unfortunately, this has hindered Roseya's social skills. Her conversations are usually short and to the point without any deviation, her tone of voice usually apathetic and her face void of any noticeable expression. More often than not she expresses her emotions through words and actions, but a handful of people have seen Roseya crack a smile every now and then.
  
  As far as combat-related skills go, Roseya was taught self-defense by her father and upon becoming a contractual operative for the Valkyrion Firm, she was given basic training with a handgun and further training in hand-to-hand combat. The most Roseya can do is defend herself and maybe take down one or two assailants, but she isn't a reliable solider by any means.

  Backstory: Roniv's mother worked in military service where she ventures off on expeditions outside, so Roniv knew to always expect her mother's death around the corner. One day, though, Roniv's mother never made it back, only two of her co-workers announcing her death. On the parchment she received from them, her mother's name and cause of her death were written in cursive, beautiful, little handwriting. Too little that Roniv thought there was a secret not meant to be discovered.
  
  Roniv was later taken by Nirwana Orphanage, an orphan house slash manpower manufacturer that produces qualified people to be of use for society. Nirwana Orphanage has many links, one of them being Valkyrion Firm. When knowing that VF does get requests in exploring outside of the wall, Roniv made up her mind to work there once she's able to. Of course, when she's accepted, she couldn't exactly go outside the wall yet, or anywhere that's not within reach of Nirwana Orphanage. She had to pay off her "debt" to be off their chain.
  
  Every opportunity she got, she would always pray to God of War to strengthen herself, and to God of Death to bring closer the day she would pay her "debt" in full.
  
  And somehow, a person was delivered to aid her in this particular problem.

  Nirwana Orphanage: An orphanage slash manpower manufacturer. Many of the children ended up successful--some died in honor, some persist with determination to this day.

  In general:
  Roniv is a resilient type-D and, most of the time, self-sufficient. She rarely ever eats the orphanage food, always opting for fishes she caught (which the caretakers have always told her that they're not enough). As time goes and she grows older, she has begun to help around the neighborhood and collect any "payment" she received. It was an attempt to lessen her "debt", she said. She's also been proactive when searching for jobs, and although she messed up in every beginning, she's quick to learn. Though, of course, not everyone has the heart for granting a second chance.
  
  Even though Roniv rarely gets attached, once she knows that they're relatively safe from harm, she's quick to place them in her heart.
  
  Roniv prays to many gods based on the problem she's facing at the moment, though on paper, she was never registered as a worshipper of any. It doesn't help as well that the way she "prays" is more of like chatting her heart away in a hushed mumble almost nobody can hear. It relieved her heart, she reasoned.
  
  In battle:
  Being small and having short legs do give the disadvantage of not being fast enough in terms of speed, though she makes it up with being able to carry multiple items stacked. This gifted her with balanced, steady steps and a remarkable strength for a type-D. Roniv's built is not effective for close-range, though if too far from the target, the electro bunny won't be able to reach it.

  Having been born to two middle class parents, Nora may not have had everything she ever wanted, but she lived comfortably—in a nice house with caring parents, more than enough food, and the periodic vacation. Living in a good neighborhood, she always felt as if she lived in a different world than the world in the crime-ridden one in the news.But after completing her education, Nora’s life took a sharp turn as the girl who had always been expected to continue down a traditional path—one that consisted of finding a nice, 9 to 5 job, settling down, and paying off her mortgage early—instead applied, and was accepted, into the police force. Up until then, she had always been a good student with a bright future in any science related field, a subject she enjoyed, but she wanted something more, something exciting. And while her work was often one of two extremities—boring or exhausting—she couldn’t help but feel fulfilled, knowing that she was keeping the city safe.
  
  For the following years, she would devote herself to her career, until, one day, she received a case involving a couple living in the slums on the fringes of the city. With it came frequent noise complaints—often about their constant arguments, loud crashes, and the sound of shattering glass—and several alcohol related crimes, all signs of a toxic relationship or some sort of abuse. But it was tossed to the side for a number of reasons: the multitude of other, more important cases, how it was located in an improvised community that the police had all but given up on. They weren’t hurting anyone but themselves after all. And while Nora hated that they’d chosen to abandon the people that needed them most, she couldn’t help but feel a lack of regret when it came to those two. Ultimately, there were several others that were more deserving of their help. But as she was throwing the file away, she discovered something that changed her stance on the situation, a child. And while she informed her superiors of the new development, their stance was final: the case was closed.
  
  So, she took the situation into her own hands, ignoring the legality of the situation. Armed with a camera, she stole into their residence with every intention of finding concrete evidence that they would be unable to ignore. But after breaking in, she came face to face with one of its inhabitants, causing a full-fledged scuffle that resulted in the law-enforcement being called.
  
  However, when they found that one of their members was responsible for the disturbance, the case was quietly dropped before it even reached the court due the force’s nature of covering up their wrongdoings. But while there were minimal legal ramifications for her actions, Nora was still in a serious situation, having been fired from her job. With the loss of her livelihood and only a basic high school education to her name, she was having a hard time supporting herself. Eventually, she landed a position at an auto repair store, and while the pay wasn’t a lot, it was enough for her to live by.
  
  But during one of Valkyrion Firm’s recruitment campaigns, Nora was given a second chance and contracted as one of their operators. Due to the unpredictable nature of her schedule, she decided to leave her job, using her newly learned skills to work on the side as a self-employed mechanic.
  
  During one of the operations that she was assigned to, Nora found herself living in Ixia for an extended period of time, and when it finally ended, she decided to stay. Not because she liked the diversity—being around foreign races still made her a little nervous—but because her business had taken off in the months that she’d been working there.

  Nora is good at repairing and tinkering with machines, especially those that bear similarities to cars or hover vehicles. She also knows a little fundamental knowledge on the workings of Manatech. She has also been trained to stay calm and collected, even during stressful situations, during her time with the force.
  
  She enjoys watching auto races, which of itself wouldn’t be a problem, but she gambles small sums of money on them as well which... isn’t a good look. Additionally, she frequents underground races, enough so that she’s acquaintances with some of the participants. However, she isn’t involved with any of the organizations or their illicit operations. Something else of interest is her past. While her breaking and entering aren’t recorded on her criminal record, anyone who’s influential enough can find out about her breaking-and-entering by asking the Sildrynn Police Department while anyone who’s clever enough to find and interrogate the victims can learn about it that way. There’s also the possibility of someone hacking into the system and finding records of the crime as well.
  
  Combat
  Nora’s best skill concerning combat is her marksmanship. Her skill holds up at all ranges, but she shines when shooting at target at a middle distance—close enough that she doesn’t need a sniper rifle, but far enough that she doesn’t need to be concerned with close combat. Additionally, due to years of working as an officer and a VF contractor, she has been trained in and become experienced in basic hand-to-hand combat. She can beat anyone who’s untrained, though she’ll lose to anyone who’s undergone specialized training. Her main weakness is melee combat, especially against skilled enemies which is why her regalia is one that has been designed to create distance. She can pull of basic knifework, but she tends to rely heavily on her regalia’s “Shockwave” ability.

  W32: A sleek Manatech Carbine that can carry up to 30 Veracite-infused bullets. When taken apart, one can find a couple of common Manatech add-ons in addition to normal gun parts, some of which of have been painted with runes that allow for mana conduction.
  
  Sola Fixed III: A large survival knife designed with durability in mind. It has a stainless-steel blade that narrows to a sharp point with a smooth cutting edge and a jagged back. The handle is lightly textured but lacks distinct finger grooves.
  
  Body Armor: A three-part set containing a helmet, vest, and pants. The later two are a shimmery gray, bulletproof cloth and paired with force-reducing technology to protect her from bullets, though they’ll still leave defined bruises. The first looks somewhat like a black motorcycle helmet and have the same use as the other two, but it also serves to protect her from sharp, piercing weapons too.

  Description: It is made from metal sprinkled with a touch of Veracite that has been forged into a long length of chain before being covered with a thin layer of gold. It has a thin wire of magic conductors inside of its core, but the bulk of its machinery lies in the small clasp at the back and its charm: a tree with a couple of small, light pink gems at the edges of some of the branches. Additionally, Nora has added a few sentimental charms, though those have no magical use.
  Function: Aside from its magical functions, this regalia is purely ornamental.
  
  Magic: Cloak of Nullification: A pale, fog-like substance emerges from the charm, lightening until it’s nigh transparent after a moment of visibility. It shifts to cover its wielder in a ‘cloak’ while leaving a layer of air in between and protects them from magical attacks, doing so by absorbing the incoming mana, as much as possible, anyways. It can be set to draw in any magic in a 30x30ft (9x9m) or less area and to automatically activate unless instructed not to.
  
  Shockwave: Drawing upon its Veracite core, the _ channels magic through the user and any tools that have been designed to conduct mana. When the power is discharged, it sends a strong force through the surrounding area, typically used to extend a weapon’s range by twisting the surrounding matter (non-solid) and sending it rocketing forward in the shape of a blade.
  
  However, the application of the magic can change if it’s paired with equipment designed to change its use. A collection of the special equipment:
  
  W32: There are two modes, depending on whether or not the user fires while channeling the magic. If they don’t, a blunt “shoving” force is emitted from the direction of the barrel with a range in the shape of a wide cone. If they do, the bullet gains an anti-armor affect, sending a shockwave through whatever’s hit.

  Backstory:
  
  Outside of Sildrynn, Goldbloom as a surname means little. Even within the district, its name is a hit or miss, but to those in the know it's the name of a family that serves monarchy. Particularly, Goldblooms in the past have been undercover agents, guards, or investigators to the royal family. It's not always the highest detail, and the job is often pretty light at times. Aleina was expected to follow this line of work by her father, who was an agent and investigator. He trained her since a young age to follow in his footsteps, and she was very eager to learn. That idea shattered when he died in the line of work when she was nearly fourteen.
  
  The funeral sticks to be one of her least pleasant memories. Traditionally, open casket funerals were the tradition, but for 'classified' reasons her father's casket remained closed. Even worse was what came after. After many dodged questions and unfruitful begging, her father's equipment, including the items that were Goldbloom heirlooms, were not to be given to his next of kin. The act of secrecy fed Aleina's distain for the Sildrynn district's rules and ruling class as well as prevent Aleina from ever getting closure from her father's death. Her mother, Sylvine, decided they would leave. After proper paperwork and forms were filled, they left for the Ixia District where Aleina would finish the rest of her youth, and that turned out to be the best thing.
  
  In district Ixia, Aleina joined an Archery Club at her school where her father's teachings led to her being a district-wide champion at the age of 16. Her mother also found someone new, a Martial Arts instructor named Hiro Ryuuken. Actually, shortly before she had won the district championship, the two had a child named Hana. Even though Aleina kept her original surname, Hiro truly treated her like a daughter. Ultimately, when she graduated she fell in as an instructor at her father's Dojo. Aleina also entered a competitive Archery Contest and became Ixia's champion. Naturally, she ended up entering a Multi-district Tournament where she lost to Sildrynn in the semi-finals. That alone earned some eyes though.
  
  When she was twenty one, the Valkyrian Firm sought her out. She decided to take a look, and ended up getting an offer to join. Ultimately, she took the contract to become more independent. She didn't want to be reliant on Archery events or her step father for a living. Seven years of exceptional service worthy of the Goldbloom name, she's a rather impressive operator in multiple aspects of her missions. While those missions can be anything from infiltrating a high class party to staking out a suspected hideout, she has completed many of the harder ones with flying colors. It was also clear early on that the Firm wanted to make use to her above average Sildrynn citizenship, which she gladly utilizes if only to maybe one day find out what the monarchy is keeping from her or for petty revenge.

  • Archery - While in the modern day it's considered niche when compared to guns, it can be incredibly useful as a silent alternative. People also don't really single out an Archery Champion carrying around a compound bow or mechanical crossbow for some reason. Much less an natural citizen of Sildrynn where the use of arrows and bolts are still in relevance. The utility of a rope arrow or drugged one isn't anything to sneeze at either.
  • Stealth - Aleina has been trained to move around places quietly and out of sight. She can also blend in at social areas where witnesses are high. She can also use a simple flute-like blowdart to deliver drugs and poisons to victims with minimal resistance. It wouldn't be the first time some unlucky mobster has found themselves suddenly sleepy only to be tied up in a dark room or in a prison cell.
  • Parkour - You better believe that Aleina can go full Assassin's Creed if she wants to. She has jumped between roofs and chased down vehicles on foot thanks to her mobility that's oddly suited to cities. Well, so long as the cities aren't just full of skyscrapers. Not exactly a great idea to try jumping from several tens of stories to catch a target. Nothing some rope arrows can't solve if you need to get into a high, heavily guarded building.
  • Investigator & Detective - As someone who frequently has to connect dots and out-think criminals, her abilities in this field are quite honed after seven years of service in the Firm.
  • Martial Arts - When all else fails, and you're surrounded by baddies, nothing quite like some Kung-fu badassery to even the odds. Sure, a professional would flatten her, but not many people outside Ixia know how to chew gum and kick ass with confusing flare.
  • Instructor and Big Sister - Remarkably good with kids and has a soft spot for them. She's also good at teaching a lot of different age groups in part thanks to that kind of experience.
  • Sildrynn Citizen: Has above average citizenship in Sildrynn, and she has family there. She can bring visitors in with minimal issue, and she can go surprisingly deep into the district.
  • Chemistry - A useful skillset for crafting drugs, poisons, and even more specialized chemicals. This skill is still relatively new since it was introduced after she entered the firm. Of course, some of those chemicals are incredibly volatile or toxic, so it's closely monitored and controlled.
  • She can also play the flute and the harp, though she's quite shy about it.

  • Compound Bow: Exceptional modern compound bow from Sildrynn. This is effectively her sniper rifle, and she knows how to keep it in top shape. Don't think you're safe if you're half a kilometer away.
  • Mechanical Crossbow: Smaller self-reloading crossbow that has semi-auto and full-auto settings. The darts may be smaller, but it sure helps in situations where once does not have the high ground.
  • Magitech lenses: Small aim sights for the crossbow and bow. While she can do fine without them, they help in various situations. Both weapons have heat vision, night vision, and zoom lenses for each. She also has a laser sight for the crossbow.
  • Combat Knife: A KNIFE
  • Pendent: A necklace of the Goldbloom family. It might be thanks to this she doesn't get asked questions in Sildrynn almost ever.
  • She also has a large collection of clothes and accessories. Why? Maybe work, maybe she just likes clothes. She'll wear traditional Ixia or Sildrynn garments regularly, but her wardrobe extends well past that.
  • Motorcycle: Haha, motorbike go brrrrrrrrrrrrr.
  • A blowdart for adminstering drugs on the fly to unsuspecting victims. Small, compact, and inconspicuous.
