Name: Erin Sommer

Biography:


Erin had an interesting and rather exciting childhood. Being the kid of two adventurous parents, she has seen a lot of the world despite being relatively young. Unfortunately, due to moving all over the place, she has very little lasting friends. Her parents both have jobs that require them to move around a lot, so it was rare if Erin lived anywhere longer than two or three years. She went to international schools and has been in contact with lots of different people. Therefor she understands a lot about other cultures, which shows in her personality, which is apparently a bit of a mix of several cultural standards, making her a little bit of an odd duck.

Erin moved to Ebongrove because she enrolled in the college here. She is the daughter of rather adventurous parents who traveled large parts of the world and have always encouraged her to explore and follow her dreams, and to never be afraid to take the road less traveled. Of course they are still concerned about their baby girl flying out and moving rather far away to start her own live.

Erin doesn't really have a hard time settling in this new place, and is looking forward to the adventures her new life will bring.

Personality:
Although she has great social skills and could make friends rather easily, she rather keeps people off a bit. Mostly because she is used to not having lasting friends, and she really rather doesn't want to get or seem hurt. It would hurt her "tough girl" image. As mentioned, her personality is a mix of different social standards. She is mostly polite like the Asians, direct like the Dutch, enjoys her teatime like an Englishwoman, likes napping like the Spanish, and has the hospitality of the Hispanic. Strange combination, for sure, but it checks out. At least she certainly hopes it does. Deep down inside Erin is rather insecure, due to never having a real rhythm or certainty in her life.

She is a tomboy with a heart of gold. Cool girl on the outside and in first impressions, but a real sweetheart if you get to know her a bit. In hobbies, however, she's still a tomboy. Her favorite way of transport is by skating, whether its on roller blades or a skateboard.

Biography

Benjamin's upbringing was below average. If that's how you word it, that is. He grew up in an orphanage. His parents didn't pass away, just..got themselves locked up in jail. His parents received 30-year sentences each for fraud, drugs, and tax evasion all wrapped up into a pretty package of insanity. He and his older brother Derek were separated after their parents were arrested 10 years ago. His brother is now 26 years old, meaning when he was 16 and Ben was 8, their parents were arrested. At least a third of their time is already done, right?

Growing up in the orphanage was nice, the other kids weren't mean, and the people working their were polite and nurturing for him and his older brother. They got adopted once, but left that house after the child services discovered they weren't nice people and only adopted the boys for the income from the government. When his brother turned 18, he moved out and went to college, sadly leaving Benjamin behind in the orphanage when he turned 10.

He spent the majority of his childhood escaping the harsh reality of his life through art. Taking up painting, sculpting, sketching, and getting into animation when he was around 15.

He never really got adopted after that first time with the bad people, though. He was content living in the orphanage, even helping with the other kids from time to time. He grew to know the staff very well, and proudly calls them his family. His brother was able to visit as often as he liked, so his blood family never really forgot him. And his parents, messed up as they can, did send letters, and occasionally got to have phone conversations with him and his brother on their own time. They made mistakes, but they loved their kids. And they love them, back.


The orphanage is located directly in Ebongrove, so Benjamin's gotten to know the city pretty well. He hasn't enrolled in a proper college, however. He's been lucky enough to get a few classes at a Trade School. Sort of like college, but with one specific focus as a subject. In his case? Art.

Personality:
Growing up in that orphanage meant one thing: He had to grow up. Fast. Only 8 years old and being put into that situation was tough. His brother couldn't adopt him and go to college when he was old enough, so that sucked. But Benjamin had to be strong. From his hardships, he'd endured enough pain to learn that things aren't always what they seem. He doesn't take anything for granted, appreciating all that's bestowed to him. He wasn't exposed to too many cultures, but did get to know a lot of people from different personal backgrounds. So his knowledge of at-home things is vast.

Benjamin doesn't know when to be upset. Even though his parents are in prison, and his only adopted family were horrible people, he knows there are definitely people who have it worse than him. At least he's healthy, has friends, and isn't dead. He often expresses himself through his artwork so he finds his outlet in that for any stress he encounters.

For his age, he's come to be emotionally sturdy and considered a rock. He's friendly and kind, a shoulder to cry on or an ear to hear you speak. He's very quiet, but nowhere near shy. He is, however, naive in many ways. He can read people, but overlooks the simplest things about people. He isn't that great at standing up for himself, having never been bullied a kids by his peers, so he somehow doesn't know how to handle it. He's a rock for other people. But himself? Paper thin. Full of good intention, he just wants to draw and make people feel better and appreciate life.

Biography
:
April had the most average childhood. Basic as basic can be. Or so it might seem on the outside. A quiet little house, a peaceful neighborhood, a normal life. All on the outside. On the inside? Weird. Her parents, both caring and supportive, were co-owners of a restaurant. A nice little burger joint/diner called "Brubeck's". Clever name, right? The middle child of three, an older and a young brother, April had a lot of company. Her dad was the cook, her mom ran the register, and she and her brothers, when old enough, worked along side them as cooks/waiters, or a waitress in her case. That's what she normally does, anyway. Taking orders and serving them up, occasionally running the register. She managed to one time burn cereal....so uh...yeah. April isn't a cook. At all.

In a family of burger-flippers and servers, she's the 'normal' one. As in, she's the average girl. Into makeup, shoes, that sort of thing. April's been exposed to many different people in her life. Various types of customers from all over looking for a good meal, that is. Customers from all sorts of lifestyles, homelands, and cultures. But really that's a given when you work somewhere guaranteed to meet people. She likes working with her family, but finds it somewhat boring, really. A waitress in a family-owned place sounds pleasant, but it gets repetitive if you really live it.

Ebongrove had been her home her whole life. Going to school as a kid, working at the age of 15, and going to college in the meantime. Her biggest dream in life catches everybody by surprise. April, a waitress...wants to be a skater. A figure skater.

Personality:
April's goal is indeed to be a skater. As a child she partook in dance lessons, as well as a brief ice skating obsession, right around the time her two brothers got into hockey. She didn't become a tomboy by being with two brothers, she's still girly. Fashion, shoes, makeup, hair, the works. She just likes to look pretty! But she's a firm believer in the fact that there's beauty in us all. But a little lipstick, to her, doesn't contradict that. It's like eating cereal (of the non burnt variety) dry or with milk. One doesn't contradict the other, right?

April's parents raised her to pursue excellence in every given situation. Odd since the only situations she faces on the daily are taking orders and serving them up. Yeah...excellent, alright.

Her friends growing up would say she can be described in three words. Loyal. Sweet. Sassy. The word 'lovely' would have made the cut, but she doesn't go out of he way to be your average waterfall of estrogen. She did, however, take up figure skating as a sort of hobby when her two brothers got into hockey. Gliding on the ice looked fun and she liked to dance, and skate. Why not combine them? Since she was little, she'd been skating on the ice, gracefully gliding or falling falling flat on her behind. But she keeps trying. Persistence is key! Gentle as the summer breeze, she wouldn't harm a fly. That is, unless that fly just threatened her family member of friend. She isn't one to get mad easily, but April will make someone regret EVER being a jerk to someone she cares about. And she'll do it with the softest smile you'll ever see.

  • Favorite mythology? Greek, maybe. She's read the Percy Jackson books, so she's clearly educated on the matter. No really. She's legit interested in it. But also maybe King Arthur...is it called Arthurian? The stores about Arthur always gave er the geeky glee.

Biography
:
The best part about living in the south, other than the food and community? Why, horseback riding of course! Clay was brought up by his mom and dad, with the help of uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents, the works. All on his family's farm. Not having any siblings of his own, his cousins were the closest thing he had to siblings. And there were a lot of them, so he never got lonely on the farm. But really calling it a farm is a loose use of the word. His family raises horses! Championship winning horses are a standard in the Maynard family. Every year, his family enters a horse in a racing derby. Born and raised right in the home of the Kentucky Derby, he's seen hundreds of races first-hand.

He'd been riding horses ever since he could walk. Or so he tells everyone. Clay's been brought up as a cowboy and farm boy from the time he was just...well, a boy. A little one. Taking care of animals, mostly horses....only horses, was his top priority. But there were cows to milk, bulls to train, and a vast assortment of dogs to...breed. In addition to horse riding and bull fighting, this family of cowboys breeds puppies! With love, care, and attention, mind you. Clay's comfort of a small town made going out into any big city for a race hard, finding big buildings and tight roads a little smothering.

His transition all the way to Ebongrove was one of business. There was a man who wanted two puppies. A man around his age, wanting two puppies for him and his roommates and sibling. Clay kindly volunteered for the family to deliver the cute husky pups to him in Ebongrove. And while he's in town, he made plans to check out a derby of sorts.

Personality:
Life as a cowboy/horse rider/bull fighter made Clay...strong. Both physically built, and mentally sturdy. He is what you'd call the typical southern boy next door. He has a strong southern accent, so for some reason tend to think one of two things. Either he's a family man who's a great listener, or he's a backward redneck with a white-power mindset. People couldn't be more wrong. He's full of loyalty, love, support, and fair mindedness for all in the world. His beliefs are his own, however he doesn't go out of his way to express them. Not that his beliefs would be considered controversial or anything. Clay just loves to ride horses, fight the occasional bull, help his momma in the kitchen making butter, and take care of the animals on the farm that the family breeds in peace.

Also, playing in the mud and riding an ATV is the best way to spend the weekend. Or go on a date. Speaking of which, finding a nice girl wouldn't hurt anything either.

He's strongly outspoken about his opinions. Outside concepts of politics, religion, mythology, and other matters are extremely for to someone as stereotypically southern as him, but he's open minded. Loudmouthed, loyal, charming, and a tad bit overbearing. He tries to be respectful, and means to be, but the way he was brought up around so much family in a rather stereotypical environment structured this behavior. Clay's a cowboy with a big heart, a loud mouth, and a strong passion for...well...saying 'yeeeeeehaw' as often as possible.

Biography:
Dylan was born in Philly but he knows Ebongrove well. He has relatives there and his family drove back and forth all the time. It's always been a second home to him and the town's timeless and enchanting atmosphere gave him an appreciation for the mystical and mythological. His parents nurtured this by reading to him and eventually gifting him books upon books of mythology from around the world which in turn lead him to pursue the martial arts. An ancient tradition with ties to stories of gods and great masters? Right up his alley . . . plus they were fun.

Personality: Dylan often is at fault for "magical thinking." He's capable of wild leaps of logic with very little connecting his goal or end point to where he stands at that time. It's a very high risk high reward worldview that either delivers him from the problem or leaves him worse off than when he started. To balance this out a bit, he often relies on the wisdom and kindness of others, teachers, sifus, priests, parents, friends, people he believes (not always correctly) have all the details he's missing. When faced with a problem, he's more prone to looking for a literally magical solution rather than a practical or scientifically rooted one.

Background: Lowest of the low on the bottom of the food chain are his people. Ripped apart from parents at birth were the children of slaves and dusters. Those that worship the dark Shaman have potential to be evil and inflict harm on the land. Like many slaves' children, Dmitri had been ripped from his mother and fathers care mere minutes after he had been born. Growing up as property to Vorkalth's followers in Nexilis he has lived a life of hardship few can imagine. Kept fed but only with bare minimum, Dmitri and his fellow slaves served a cruel master all through their formative years who'd taught them to believe this was the way of life they were to live without question. And for as difficult and painful as it could be it was the only life he knew. So Dmitri and the other children did as they were told. A life of obedience and ridicule.
That is, until salvation arose. His master grew ill via poisoning from his guards. Wicked master he was not, for the children knew him to be the closest thing to a father. After he died, the guards attacked the children for no witnesses to tell of what they did. Dmitri was young at the time, relying on the elder children to protect his weak and fragile body. Dmitri fled for his life, stumbling upon a lakeside home with an elderly couple inside. These elders taught Dmitri and the other kids who escaped the meaning of love, compassion and goodness. They bore no faith in Vorkalth. By far the kindest people he'd ever met. In time, many of the children went on to live normal lives as they grew old enough. Staying behind after many years, Dmitri and a young girl were all that remained. Past threats have reared around again, assuming position and turning his freedom into nothing. The outside world, or those just outside of his life, see it as nothing. But tormentors never cease to torment.

Personality: After years of freedom as a slave, Dmitri and the girl stayed with the old folks. They bore a loyalty to the King out of conservative nature. About as conservative as it gets, to them. When they eventually passed on from old age Dmitri and the girl remained in the home for a short while. Looking after it and caring for whatever plants they had. The lakefront on which they lived offered serenity in times of strife and sorrow. For a time there was peace for the two of them. Almost a sibling relationship forming. But the girl began seeing Dmitri as a father. He is caring, compassionate and true to his heart. Passionate about family and protecting the weak.
Above all else, Dmitri values peace and will do anything to keep it. Adoration of family aside, he's also a bit of a flirt. As a slave he'd been raised to prepare as a male to find a suitable woman to mate with and produce more slaves for his master. This never left him, although he seeks a genuine companion and partner as opposed to a slave for his master. Could also be something in his genes. Not having his real parents leaves such a mystery on why he is the way he is. Luckily he found a place to turn him into a fine man. He looks after the girl, Quinn, like a sister and daughter. Nobody better dare cross that line!

Unfortunately Dmitri is hard to trust new people, regardless of the kindness strangers had shown him. Because now, those same guards who killed the master have reared their heads once again and one by one tracked the children. Unknown what became of them all, really. But now they've found Dmitri and test his faith and passion every day. No longer a slave, but by a magic spell a servant. As an adult he must face his ultimate hardship. Shaking his faith will not be easy. Nor will his passion to protect what is good. He's read tales of heroes countless times. Perhaps one day he may rise to the occasion and be a hero to himself and Quinn, thus breaking free of magical chains and be free. Free from current oppressors through the power within and dreams of shedding light into darkness.

Something plagues Dmitri's soul. Either it be pain and suffering, or something far worse. He's a good man. But he's lived a hard life. Quinn herself is a kind girl. But something she does really concerns him. Like a...curse?

Name: Gawain

Personality:

Gawain, famed Knight of the Round Table, nephew to King Arthur and known to have his strength depend on the time of the day. Or so the stories say, anyway.

He is all a knight should be: Valiant, righteous, gallant, compassionate when needed be and brave... except for the fact he's terrified of the dark. One simply can't know what might lurk out there. His sense of right, duty, and honor might get him into trouble at times, but he has a good heart and means well. He is a formidable warrior, fiercely loyal to his king (or Sentinel leader) and family. He is a friend to young knights (or Sentinels), a defender of the poor, and as "the Maidens' Knight", a defender of women as well. He does, however, have quite the bit of trouble adapting to the new time his new friends and allies take him to. Thankfully he still remembers Novus and Fate, so he's not entirely on his own in the "not understanding the world" part.

Being born many centuries ago, it makes sense for him that a man fights to keep a woman safe, and that said woman keeps to the sidelines. So the Sentinels being led by a young, foul-mouthed woman... He is not all that keen on that in the beginning. It's one of the many things he'll need to get used to now that he's living in a different time.

Background:

About 900 years ago, Gawain was a member of an earlier generation of Sentinels. He fought alongside his friends; Leonard, Arnaut, Dedric, Guimond, and Rosemary to keep Vorkalth and his evil lackeys at bay. Their journey took them to Avalon, a realm where they all felt very much at place considering the time they came from. Here, Gawain was mortally wounded, and the only way to save him was by making him a part of Avalon and its legends. So technically, there never was a Gawain in the legends of King Arthur until he was made a part of it.

His Charm and memories have been mostly sealed way in the hundreds of years that passed. What Gawain remembered was mostly played off as visions or terrible nightmares. But now that there's a new generation of Sentinels in the realm who need his help, and now that vile warriors are rising from the underground, Gawain regains his memories to fight against Vorkalth once more.

Name: Novus Tarragon
Species: Fairy/Shapeshifter
Age: thousands of years


Novus is a few thousand years old, but doesn't look awfully kid, which might be rather unfortunate. He is a fairy who spends most of his time in a form that looks almost human. He's just... not very tall and has some features that might not be quite human-like. Woe those who underestimate him, however, for Novus has an extraordinary mastery of the arcane arts. He used to serve at some royal court in a mythical realm until Vorkalth came by and caused chaos. That was when he was chosen to aid the first sentinels, who were already masters of their magical abilities. Knowing Vorkalth would return, he retired from his position at the court, guarded the Charms, and trained a variety of new Sentinels whenever they were needed.

Novus is rather easy-going. He wouldn't mind if the new Sentinels took their time in learning how to master their abilities, as long as they get the job done eventually. Do not, however, assume Novus is lazy, for he is one of the most hardworking fairies you will ever see in your life. Still he likes to joke around a bit at times. Fairies remain rather young in their behavior no matter how old they get. Well.... unless they're really old. Then they turn into little old wise men complaining about the youngsters on their yard and blabbering on and on how everything was better in the old days. Or so he would tell you. Novus has a massive sweet tooth to the point where Fate would want to forbid him from every touching anything sugary. Standard to fairy beings, iron would severely burn him.

The mentor of the Power Rangers awoke prior to the Shaman, knowing it was almost time for him to rise from the Underworld once again.

He has a curious nature on the human world, since he only sees it once every so many centuries. Although somewhat aloof, he is determined to prepare the Rangers for their task in the best way he can, and won’t appreciate it when they do not take their duties seriously.

Name: Fate
Species: Unknown/Shapeshifter
Age: unknown


Fate is a being basically as old as time. Or rather close to that, that is. It is hard to tell exactly what she is, other than a shapeshifting humanoid spending a lot of time in the form of an owl. In her time, Fate was a wise sorceress with prophetic abilities. She has served many rulers in ancient days, but figured that at some point in time, people wouldn't listen to her simply because she is a woman. Heck, there have been times where she narrowly escaped being burned at the stake for witchcraft. Why people chose to rather listen to a talking owl is a mystery to her, but a useful discovery.

Fate is serious in her personality, with little room for joking and nonsense. It is most important the Sentinels learn to master their abilities ASAP, so they can stop Vorkalth from wrecking havoc and ending the world. She wants to see them succeed quickly, but that might not be possible. Especially in a world where people no longer truly believe in magic. Well... safe for maybe 10-year-old kids, but you can't expect them to save the world. Fate often clashes with Novus. Technically speaking, Novus is her superior, but that does not always show.

She has a brother by the name of Chance, but they haven't seen each other in a long time. Not only because they don't always see eye to eye, but also because they lost each other at some point in time in some mythical realm. Wherever that might have been, nobody knows anymore. It could have been anywhere, really.

Like his sister, Chance is a being old as time itself. The two of them don't always seem eye to eye, for obvious reasons. Opposites in many ways. Chance likes mischief, causing chaos, and disturbing the general order of things. Where his sister is the one to control and steer the course of many things, Chance is what happens when things go their own way. Uncontrolled and free. Fate is decided and Chance is... well... chance! How safe it is to truly call him an ally, however... only time can tell.

Quinn is a quiet girl. Thought ambitious and spunky, she has lived a life of hardship and inner fantasy, regaling stories about the famed Sentinels--renowned heroes of the land to many. That damsel being saved by warrior ideology never escaped her mind even into her early preteens/teens. She is a child but has seen enough to be an adult in her own mind. There isn't a lot she knows about her birth parents so family is almost foreign to her in terms of it being blood. So many people around her have wilted and died. Quinn wants to make things better. Sometimes she speaks louder than is advised but that's on account of being like 13. She holds the Sentinels in high regard, seeing them as saviors of all that is good. They instill faith into her heart. She wishes to instill that same faith into the dreadful.

This little creature came to be due to Vorkalth's dark magic influencing the realm. Born from the forest but terrified of the evil powers around, the tiny forest spirit fled to Avalon, where they caused quite the bit of chaos among the townsfolk. Haunting mundane objects and hiding in corners, the forest spirit found its way into the stables of Camelot, where it was found by the Sentinels.

ALLIES FROM AVALON

Name: Merlin
Species: Human
Era: Avalon/Earth

The Merlin from the legends is not quite the man from the legends. Does that even make any sense? The man is known to be one of the greatest sorcerers in the entire realm, if not THE greatest. However, Merlin isn't exactly from Avalon. Much like the Sentinels, he is a bit of a Realm-Hopper. A long time ago, long before this generation of Sentinels came to Avalon, he was a Sentinel himself. After defeating Vorkalth in his age, Merlin volunteered to stay behind in Avalon in order to keep an eye on the realm and any unusual dark activities. He made himself a part of the world and the legends, weaving his very presence into the stories we all know and love. Merlin has seen time pass by and the world of Avalon end time and time again. As he explains to the Sentinels, this world has run its course and will keep repeating itself. Merlin can't change the course of the stories, only intervene at the points where he's supposed to. Fixed Points In Time, much?

Merlin keeps an eye on the world through a Scyring Window, much like how Fate and Novus keep an eye on the Realms. The big difference is that he only has one Window and only for Avalon. He can contact the two when needed, but it takes a lot of magic from both sides, and it can be quite the difficult task due to differences in the timstreams.

The legendary King Arthur. In contrast to the myths we know, he refers to Merlin as his uncle. They highly respect one another, but they definitely clash on occasions. This is usually when Merlin acts without informing the king first. He is a friendly man, definitely willing to help the Sentinels, but he can't quite get over the fact they are being led by a woman whose hair looks like she stole the fires from hell. Not quite a comforting thought with dark magic running wild and an ancient evil keen on destroying the realm he worked so hard for to build.

Arthur has a minor talent for magic, but it doesn't seem to go much further than knowing how to turn the lights in the passageway on and off, and taking Gawain's visions quite seriously. Arthur doesn't recall much of other times when Vorkalth attacked. His uncle tends to keep him from knowing those things. He only recalls things when his uncle thinks the time is right for him to know.

SpiritsEach sentinel forms a bond with a unique spirit matching their element of power. The spirits lend the Sentinel their magic, and their souls become as one. Over time, through practice and trust, the powers the Sentinels can control and possess grow stronger and stronger.

IgneosThe spirit of fire

Of his fellow brethren, Igneos can be described as the most human. After all, fire is a manmade element. He is curious and playful, burning with passion. But he can also be a source of chaos and destruction. Like water, fire is among the most two-sided documents, both capable of bringing life and happiness, or death and destruction. Igneos is strongly fueled by his Sentinel's emotions and desires. The more passionate or enthusiastic the sentinel is, the stronger his flames will burn. But... the same goes for anger and hatred.

DeluvianThe spirit of water

The primordial shapechanger. Both bestower and destroyer. As water comes in infinite forms and is personified in many deities, so is the divergent nature of Deluvian's own persona. Both the giggling nymph of a babbling brook as well as the stern visage of Poseidon in the terrible storm of a tempest. Deluvian appears as a wave rising from whatever body of water, fresh of salt, they choose and standing freely in the air. When male, their visage appears as a man with a wild beard of sea foam. His face either stern or filled with fatherly love. When female, their visage is that of a youthful woman with seaweed messily hanging around her face. Her features conveying a coy playfulness or harsh fury. The one thing that connects them though is passion. That which their Sentinel fuels them with. Passion can bring peace or chaos, righteous anger or retributive wrath.

GrondoThe spirit of earth

Of all spirits, there is not one more blunt than him. Like a boulder, he's dense, strong, and will crush you should you find yourself under him. Described as a physically and literally pile of rocks, the bulk of his appearance matches the abrasive and intimidating consciousness within. He is fueled by his Sentinel's raw strength and endurance, taking no nonsense at all; directly moving from point to point. He bestows upon those worthy a massive rock slide-like power, crushing down evil where it stands. He exists only to fuel strength, not caring for intellect or opinion. He's a warrior spirit and thrives to be such. Puny emotion makes him feel nothing.

SylvanThe spirit of nature

Born of the Earth and given breath by the forests, Sylvan stands tall like a tree and free as a leaf drifting through the wind. His Sentinel fuels the spirit through their sense of creation and open-mindedness. Optimism is key. Like air and Earth, nature is a vital component of the worlds life force, for the woods spawn new life every waking moment. What he shares with his element of power is the unpredictable nature of...nature. There's almost an art to the worlds forests, are there not? As for why he speaks in rhyme is anyone's guess. Perhaps the tie to creation and art make it so.

AinyaThe spirit of air


Spirits come from both the planet, and all mysterious forces that protect it. Ainya is the self-proclaimed 'mother of the skies'. A gentle and caring spirit that--like air--rises above and carries on the whims of the world. She's constructed physically by a tornado and wears clouds like a gown, though her beauty shines radiant. She is soft and gentle like a warm summer breeze, a surrogate mother to those that bond with her. She looks after her Sentinel, lovingly watching them. But like a mother, she'd tear down those who threaten all things innocent.

AureliusThe spirit of light

Born from the first rays of the sun. Aurelius protects all that is good. He is the guardian of the day and purity. Aurelius is fueled by the purity of someone's heart and the desire to do what's right. He highly values protecting the innocent and is known to have distanced himself from previous Sentinels when they strayed too far from the right path. Aurelius is a being of pure light, clad in armor and ready to fight against evil. Those who have seen him and do not know about the Sentinel Spirits often mistake him for a guardian angel, which technically isn't entirely wrong.

Villains
Vorkalth
Long, long ago, Vorkalth was the loyal advisor of a king who ruled a large empire. After the ritual he held to put the king in his place, Vorkalth changed and never quite became the same man again. The more time passed, the more he started to resemble a Leshy, a mythical creature from Eastern Europe. The power growing within is soul corrupted him. It is unknown whether a small part of the man he once was still remains somewhere deep down inside him. It is not to be assumed, for he has been an evil entity wanting nothing but the destruction of the world as we know it now. Once every so many centuries he rises from the Underworld with an army of terrible monsters and attempts to succeed in his evil plans: to rule the world as he ruled the empire in the ancient days.

For many times, the Sentinels have successfully banished the Shaman back to the Underworld, but each time he rises again, he regains a small bit of the old powers he once lost. When he is back at his full power, it might be impossible to stop him. It is up to the next generation of Sentinels to either banish him once more, or perhaps destroy him once and for all.

Nenet
Tactician/scientist of the bad guys. She deems herself (one of) the most intelligent being(s) in the realms, due to having lured many people to their deaths with her riddles. But that’s in the past. Nowadays she uses her skills and intelligence to work for Vorkalth and his Legion whose goal is to conquer the world. And that might just be a nice distraction from telling yet another riddle to another hero.

Avlazor
Avlazor is a Basilisk given a more humanoid form to fight alongside Vorkalth and lead his troops into battle. He is a renowned field commander and relentless warrior. Well known for his strength and poisonous abilities, he is an excellent addition to the Legions forces. Avlazor might not be the most intelligent, but that is not needed for a giant snake-turned-something-more-humanoid. Avlazor is a frontline fighter, determined to crush his enemies and everyone who stands in the Legions way.

Spawners
These creatures are the footsoldiers of the Legion. They are with many and are decent fighters. Might or might not be composed of the remains of fallen enemies.

Ryxens
The Old Fallen Warriors, as Gawain called them. Ryxens are another group of footsoldiers within the Legion. They are far stronger and more capable than the Spawners. Whereas you could ask yourself if the Spawners are composed of fallen enemies, you can be quite sure about that with the Ryxens.

Monster of the Week
Spawners: Tale 1 and onwards
The first monsters the Sentinels run into are the Spawners, creatures from Hell and minor demons. They acted as a small force to discover how the people of the surface defended themselves in this time. Since Spawners are the foot soldiers, they continue to make their appearance in later Tales as well.

Garm: Tale 2
Garm was a barghest, also known as Black Dog, an omen of death. He was the first demon to be summoned by Vorkalth to battle the Rangers and strike fear into their hearts. Garm gave the Rangers a tough time until they learned how to summon and use their personal weapons. Has succeeded to injure Erin.

Golem: Tale 3
A six foot tall monstrous statue created by Benji after which Nenet gave him life. This regenerating clay construct caused quite the havoc, but is the reason Benji found his reason to fight. Golem was the first monster to be raised into a giant form by Nenet.

Fisherman Spirits: Tale 4
A two-headed, yellow-scaled snakeish monster give life from the mysterious Eye of the Serpent. A powerful gem hidden in Ebongrove lake, having taken the spirits of two dead fishermen and cause chaos among the city after revival by Nenet, giving the Rangers--especially April--a run for their money.

Ryxens: Tale 5 and onwards
An "upgrade" to the Spawners. These higher ranked footsoldiers have been slumbering in Avalon and different realms for a long time. They are warriors of old, once slain and later corrupted to serve the forces of evil. From this tale on, they will continue to show up together with the Spawners to wreak havoc in the name of evil and do the bidding of their dark masters.

Glatisant: Tale 6
The Questing Beast, known from the Arthurian mythology. Although this mythological monster was fairly peaceful usually, it was corrupted by dark magic when Vorkalth tore a rip in the veil and had his magic enter the other world. The innocent creature was turned into a much more fearsone and violent being known as Glatisant.

Morag: Tale 7
Morag is a kelpie-like monster who has a history with Gawain and a previous generation of Sentinels. She is brought back to life by Nenet in order to help the Legion search for an artifact hidden below the surface of a lake in the mythical realm Avalon. She has horselike-features, but kelp for hair and fish scales for skin.

Venecorva: Tale 8
Corrupted by dark magic, Morgana takes on the monstrous form of Venecorva; part crow, part evil witch. She has talon-like claws, a beak, wings and black feathers much like a huge crow, but other than that she still looks relatively humanoid.
