Plot: Earth was destroyed by an alien species. Only a few people could save themselves underground in some kind of facility that turns out to be an ancient spaceship with a sentient control system. The ship turns the survivors into robots/cyborgs (basically robotic endoskeletons wrapped in artificial organic material that looks human. The bodies still have the "souls" of the survivors with almost full autonomy) to fulfill errands for it while caring for they own welfare since the AI of the ship is bound to the ship. The ship will help them with revenge if they help the ship fulfill it's duties. While in flight, the survivors can hang out in the ships quarters with a large central room with a garden and "automated shops and a bar" or they can spend time in a MMO like simulation. Either way they can earn credits through the MMO or through ship errands to for example customize their quarters, customize/upgrade their bodies, buy stuff in game or in ship or even aid in enhancing the ships systems. Basically, the ship and its crew do more outlaw kind of stuff when landed but it can be up to the crew.
The ship: The ship is an ancient alien ship that was buried underground in a cavern. The ship is made of hard, black almost rock like material. It has a pretty much sentient AI that basically thinks "a favor for a favor". It will enhance and help the crew in turn for the crew helping the ships AI. While it sounds like a pretty good deal, the ships AI occasionally wants the crew to do something bad such as abduct a member of a species for study or destroy things that the ship sees as a threat to its own existence, even if the things dont intend harm.
The ships interior: The ship reshaped its interior to accomodate its crew with individual quarters for each member and a central atrium with a garden, automated shops and a bar. The crew quarters have an uplink to the ships MMO-like virtual world. The virtual world is almost like a simulation of a futuristic earth with NPCs that act like real individual personalities.
The crew: They sought refuge from the inferno outside on the surface of earth. However they were subdued by the ship and turned into robots/cyborgs (depending how you want to look at it) with robotic endoskeletons made of the same material as the ship, but wrapped in an artificial organic exterior to resemble humans. They have increased strength, agility and intelligence from it with almost unlimited endurance. They can have built in weapons. However while they are almost fully autonomous, they sometimes question their free will as the ship says that it can control them but is lenient enough not to. Through credits from the MMO or from errands, the crew can customize or upgrade themselves.
