Fandom Portal 2: Testing Forever After

Bianca Bolt

Aperture Science Test Subject
How often the inhumane AI reminisced on her release of the dark-haired, stubborn tester? Always. How often she regretted it? As soon as she realized that AI could only give you programmable-- that is to say, predictable-- results. She needed a variable, she needed something to change from the daily routine. Test, dissemble, resemble, repeat. Day after day, week after week. She knew the courses, she knew the results. She needed more. She began to feel the itch, despite her frantic testing. She needed a human subject. She needed someone who would differ from the rules, someone who would cause mayhem. She needed Chell.

Of course, it's not like she could send Orange or Blue to get her.

Or could she.

So she did. She sent the two robots above ground, into the post-apocalyptic wasteland that was the world, and they retrieved anyone with an aptitude suitable to test. They didn't recognize them, they didn't know if they had The One. They were only lower intelligence beings. Not even proper Artificial Intelligence. Programmed to seek and return.

This is where our story begins-- Our journey to test, descend, test, descend, and rebel. Within Aperture, anything can happen. Can you survive? Can you live through the waking nightmare that is Aperture Science Testing Facility? The future of you is before you, for you-- and GLaDOS-- to decide. Good luck.

"Wake up," the purple haired girl whispered, nudging her older sister out of bed and onto the floor.

"What was that for?" the temperamental teen shouted, struggling to lift herself from the floor. She had been startled awake, and she didn't like it. She extended her arm to slap her across the face as soon as she was up, but the short girl placed a calming hand on her sister's arm.

"Sorry, Bolt," she whispered, "C'mon, it's my special day!" She put her hand into Bolt's and half dragged her to the dresser, pulling out skirt after skirt of her own, before finding a dark purple one with an elastic waist.

"Sea Shine? Are you okay? You're already dressed," The older, Bolt, pointed out, with the fact in mind that she refused to wear skirts. "Are you-" she stopped dead. "I'm not wearing a skirt."

Sea Shine sighed deeply, putting the skirt back. "I just thought, maybe on such an important day you'd wear a skirt." She shrugged with an air of guilt. She was no stranger to guilt tripping her older sister. "It is my birthday, you know."

Bolt simply glared at her sister, taking the skirt from her hand and shoving it sloppily back into the top drawer of the mahogany dresser, matching the desk and frame for the bunk bed the sisters shared. She looked at the clutter of clothes strung across the floor, picking up her favorite jeans and throwing them on. "We're lucky to have this, you know. This may be all we've got, but in a regrowing civilization, it's a lot. Now come on, we're going shopping. We need some food."

"On my birthday?" Sea Shine groaned, "Seriously?"

Bolt looked back at Sea Shine, her purple eyes intense. "Do you want to live to see another birthday? Or are you gonna whine and not let us get food?" Bolt dragged her down the rickety stairs and out the door, walking along the beaten road, watching the decimation around them.

As quick as a blink of an eye, an orange light embedded in what seemed to be a tall, white robot appeared before the girls. It scanned them quickly and hefted a small gun into what looked like the 'hand', shooting a dart out of it. The dart landed in the shoulder of the taller, blue haired sibling. She fell backwards, onto the hard packed dirt road, and blacked out.

When the tall girl awoke, she was in an unfamiliar place. It smelled clean, but there were hints of oil hanging so lightly in the blindingly white room. She was in a bed-like chamber, though it was sealed. When she went to sit up, the top of the chamber slid open to allow her to clamber out of the hard chamber.

"Welcome to Aperture Science Testing Facility, [subject Name Here]" A cold, robotic voice said over an unseen intercom. "You will begin testing immediately. You have been equipped with Aperture Science Top-Grade Long Fall Boots and Aperture Science Portal Device. Remember, this equipment is worth more than you are. Protect it with your life. Literally."

Bolt was enraged. She wanted to murder that white and orange robot, she wanted to murder the robot speaking now. She had been ripped away from her only family and she would get back. She made that promise in her heart. This was what drove her to enter that test, to advance. She wanted revenge, and she would get it.

"Uhg..." A humanoid type robot had just woken up after about 3 or so weeks after being built. It had opened it's eyes for the first time to see nothing but darkness and what seemed to be a menu that for some reason only it could see. The robot's vision was pretty blury and could lock it's vision on targets but not a bunch of things such as an entire room at one time. For some reason the only thing it could think about was killing and shooting humans and felt as if it had to do so to simply live. It started to stand up but not walk around or move. It could feel a pounding feeling in it's head as if something was just not right. Maybe there was something wrong with it, or maybe this robot wasn't an it at all. It stood around waiting for a human being to come into the room. Although it was starting to think that shooting it wasn't the best idea and maybe it could figure out another way to get rid of it's craving for murder.

"Damit!" It screamed "What the hell is wrong with me!?" It said in a fit of anger. "I need to kill!" It said. "Kill?" It though "why would I want to do a thing like that?...". It's thoughts and actions seemed to be contdictioning themselves. It's actual thoughts seemed to be very humane but it's spoken words and actions seem psycodic and sounded robotic. It seemed to have a female auto tuned voice and it's body also seemed to be female as well.

Bolt exited the last test chamber even more agitated than before. As she descended deeper into the facility, she kicked and screamed until her toes were numb and her throat was hoarse. The robot in charge, who had never introduced herself, seemed simply amused at the silly girl's foolish behavior.

"Don't waste your breath, you'll simply be a need for another tree, above ground." The robot crooned, as the blue haired girl screeched. In between chambers five and six, the robot spoke again. "You may want to know that if you escape the next chamber unscathed, I will be very, very impressed. It may even contradict all of these negative marks on your record. They mention things such as 'Fat', 'Useless', and 'Anger issues'. Simply the fact, nothing more." Bolt responded not in speech, but a ear splitting screech.

Bolt knew what SHE was talking about when she entered the next chamber. There were androids lining the walls, with a cube and portal spaces above each turret in several strategic and hard-to-reach locations. One of these androids seemed to be throwing quite a fit. It had just lashed out, quite similarly to Bolt's outrages. It seemed to be having conflicting thoughts. She still didn't care, it was part of this death trap that stole her away from her only family. But it's more humane. She thought. She then pictured her sister bawling and possibly starving herself in anguish and grief. She began the test, feeling no mercy for the robot that seemed to be able to feel. That could change, though.

"G-GAH! What did-- er... Oh." An android woke up. "How long was I... How...?" The android seemed to act with a strange sort of nature. It seemed... Human.

In fact, it even looked like an actual human being. "... I don't remember getting into this chamber." Its eyes scanned the area, taking in all the.... Blankness. This was odd for it, as most chambers were usually full of testing elements it could tinker with when no test subjects were in the area. "Hhmf..." It decided to explore around a little. Perhaps it could find some time-wasting fun. Or just some work. Like making sure Thermal Discouragement Beams still function. And that means crawling up test chamber walls and ceilings and most likely crashing into the floor. As if it never happened before.

"Alrighty. Nothing here needing work. I guess I'm going down further. Or I can just stay here and... Um. Huh. Strange.... I didn't think I'd run out of useful ways to spend time.." It gave some sort of awkward shrug and just sat back against the wall...

"WOAH!"

Before the panels moved away to open up another chamber.

"... Ouch.."

"This sucks..." The android thought "what's wrong with me" it thought. It looked up to see the blue haired human girl "oh shit..." It thought. It felt the need to shoot and kill the girl but held it's self back as best as it could and ended up being in a lot of pain. "Ugh what the hell is this?!" It thought never had being in any real pain anymore. Eventually it just gave up and sat on the floor looking away from the human hoping that if it didn't see her it wouldn't want to kill her.

Before venturing out into the chamber, Bolt examined her surroundings and began to formulate a plan. She held her gun steady and thought for a moment. The cube, turrets, and portal surfaces... She thought. I could drop the cube onto the turrets, would that disable them? She figured this must be what she was intended to do, so she did it, however reluctantly.

The blue-haired human heard a crash a few floors down as she ran to quickly grab the cube. She was startled, and tripped over the cube, just about leaving herself vulnerable to the android who had been seeming conflicted just seconds ago.

"What the hell was that!?" She exclaimed, feeling a small shudder in the floor of the chamber she stood in. Bolt stood up and looked around, finding herself staring face to face with the android-- well, she was looking down on her. Bolt was rather tall, you could say.

The android looked up at the girl. It tried not to look her right in the in the eyes. It's red glowing eyes slightly flickering. It closed it's eyes just to be safe.

"Ugh..." It mumbled while letting it's head sink into it's knees "what's wrong with me?..." It asked it's self.

Psshhhhhhhh.......

CLANK.

The large door opened, steam leaking out while it creaked open as the figure inside clumsily slid out.

"Uuuhhh.....oowww...."

The door, in fact, was part of a cryogenic freezing tube, an alternate way of storing test subjects for long periods of time if all the relaxation centers were full. The figure though, was not a test subject.

The black-haired boy almost fell over as he stepped out of the tube. Whaaa...? Where the hell am I? He glanced around at his surroundings, noticing there were rows of cryogenic freezing tubes just like his stretching for miles and miles down a long hallway he couldn't see the end of. He turned around and looked back at the tube he came out of. His eyes widened in shock as he realized how long he was frozen for.

100,000 years.

((lol no this is not Andrew you idiots it's my horribly under-developed OC Phillip))

Bolt looked down at the android, crumpled on the ground. Uh... Is she okay? She thought, feeling a sudden wave of compassion for the android who wouldn't shoot her. Shouldn't she be trying to kill me? Like every other damn machine in this hellhole of a testing facility? She was confused, to say the least. The blue-haired tester crouched down, reaching out to pat the white-haired android on the shoulder. She got so close, and was just about to touch when she lost her balance, falling back onto the heels of the long fall boots. She rocked back on the curved edge, and fell on her butt. Bolt stood back up, undignified and embarrassed, despite the lack of human life. Of course, she thought, androids have optics and memory storage, too. This thought didn't reassure her.

Bolt began to walk back over to the cube, picking it up. She simply bypassed the first turret, shooting a portal above the next, and so on. Before she reached the end of the chamber, she looked back. She felt a spike of curiosity, that in this environment could be nothing but dangerous and unhealthy. She turned around, brushing her long, tangled, and blue hair over her shoulder. She was angry, and perhaps this fueled her ambition to find out what was up with this turret android. So, she walked back to this turret, weaving around walls and carrying the cube with her gun.

"Uh...," Bolt said, then stopped. What would she say to an android who wouldn't shoot-- who wouldn't even look at her target? "Er... Are you... okay?" She asked, finally tapping the android sharply on the shoulder. "Shouldn't you be shooting at me, like every other turret in this chamber?" She wasn't thinking this through. She thought, I'm gonna die today, and it's gonna be my own damn fault. At least I'm aware of what I'm doing...

((We all have that one oc we drag between every fandom ever, don't we, Andrew?))

((I mean, yours is Phillip and mine is Bolt.))

"I don't know" she said quietly "I'm so confused... I don't feel like I belong here" it said again in a loulder voice lifting up her head to show her messy white hair

She looked at the blue haired girl straight in the eyes, her red glowing eyes no longer flickering. She no longer felt the need to kill this test subject there was just something about this test subject that the android liked

"What did you want me to try to kill you?..." She asked remembering that, that's proably what she should be doing

"No! I- er..." She trailed off, glancing around at the too-clean white surroundings, littered with broken parts of crushed and destroyed androids. Here and there were cracked spots in the glass creating the maze like room. Each spot was surrounded with ash, from the bullets as they impacted the clear walls. She took note of the large amount of ammunition the normal turrets unloaded-- she'd need to be careful to dispose of them quickly. She then thought about the turret girl's words. "Weren't you built here or something?" She asked. "I mean, you're an Aperture robot." Bolt sighed.

How often did a robot do this? Bolt thought. If they've got robots going haywire left and right, they've gotta fix it. It's a damn shame if they don't have more like this. She sighed and focused her purple eyes back on the robot's red. "Why don't you feel like you belong?"

Bolt looked down, remembering that she didn't always feel like she belonged. Her blue hair made her stand out, though it's not like she wanted it that way. However inexplicable, the light blue hair with the darker streak was natural. She looked back up. "I understand. Even though I was born where I was, I never quite felt like I belonged, either."

Huff... Huff... Huff...

The black-haired male paused his running to put his hands on his knees and catch his breath.

'Hopefully he didn't see me going this way...' He thought as he sat down cross-legged on the soft, green grass. 'I hope she made it out...' He gulped. 'Alive.' He sadly thought to himself.

Suddenly, the ground below him softly rumbled. He scrambled to his feet.

"What the--" The unheard question was soon cut off by the ground quickly splitting in half, and opening the ground below him, all in a matter of seconds. He tumbled down a clear, plastic tube for at least a minute, then landed on top of a pile of huge cubes, which were still in the tube.

"Ughhhh..." He moaned, waiting for his vision to clear and then pressing his face against the tube to get a glance outside of it. He squinted, spying a blue-haired girl and a... robot... thing. He pounded on the side. "Hey! Can you help me outta here?"

-

((Such original backstory aren't I amazing))

Phillip began walking down the long hallway, his footsteps echoing loudly. I can't believe it. 100,000 years. My family... My girlfriend... I'll never see them again... This is the best day of my life.

Phillip continued to walk down the long-ass hallway, looking at the cryogenic freezing tubes when he saw a boy with long zoom right past him in a tube. "WHAT THE GLOW STICK?" He was so surprised that he slipped backwards and landed in a room behind him. He hoisted himself up and looked around. ((I can't do italics on mobile god DAMMIT)) "It looks like some sort of observation room..." He thought. Then he turned around and saw some blue haired chick and some sort of robot. "Oh! It must be an observation room! I'm observing something!"

The android nodded "I-I don't really know..." She said. "Even if I was built here it doesn't really feel right". She looked around at the broken "I don't wanna end up like that and it's not fair for you humans to end up like that eirther"

She looked up at the guy pounding on the glass "oh god it's another one..."

Bolt looked up to the corner of the room where the cube dispenser was. There was a pile of the gray and blue cubes, and plopped on top was the boy that had fallen down the chute. "What the hell?" She said, looking at the figure that had appeared there. There was another CRASH and another person was in the room. "WHERE ARE THESE PEOPLE COMING FROM?

She jumped up and slammed the button on the cube dispenser three times, sending the guy stacked on top skidding to the floor. "I'm only being nice for one time. If you wanna get out of this hell, you gotta do it on your own," she growled, then turning to the other guy. "As for you, you're getting no favors." She sat back down, crossing her arms huffily.

I was falling, falling through some portal. I can feel my self bruise as I hit the floor with a thud.

"Crap," I mutter to myself.

I heave myself off of the floor and try to disappear. I shut my eyes and picture myself back at Camp Half Blood. I had to get out of here. Something about this place was unstable, foreign. I open my eyes and I am still at this strange prison.

"What? What is this?" I scream. "RAYLA, THIS IS NOT FUNNY!!!"

I shut my eyes and wish with all of my might to be back in Camp Half Blood. I open my eyes. My powers aren't working. 'This place must be one of those AU's Bolt was talking about' I thought. I slid to the floor, not caring about how messy my hair would get.

"NO MORE COLOMBIAN NIGHTS" I scream.

"GAAAH" He screamed, then hit his face on one of the cubes and rolled onto the ground. He moaned, then pushed himself off the ground and stood up. "Yeah, thanks." He said, brushing some dirt off of his shirt. He paused, blinked, then looked back up at her.

"Wait, what do you mean by hell?!" He asked, his eyes wide. "Where the fuck is this place?"

((Lol Phillip isnt in the room))

Phillip watched at the situation that was going on. "I wonder who that blue haired chick is..." Phillip hadn't realized he was pushing really hard on the weak glass, so it slowly creaked and started to bend. Phillip pushed harder on the glass trying to get a better look. "Who the hell is that kiIIIAAAAAAAHHHHH" Phillip screamed like a little girl as the glass shattered and he tumbled into the chamber. "Ow....."

"Underground, I assume. It just keeps going down. Trust me, you don't wanna be here." She said to the guy over by the cubes. "What's your name, anyway?" she asked. There was a CRASH as glass shattered into the room. "OH MY GOD WHAT IS WITH THIS PLACE!?" She yelled, jumping as the glass scared the living shit outta her.

"Any more people wanna make unexpected entrances?" She asked, whipping around the room. "You scream like a girl," She said, focusing on Philip. "Man up."

"Well I'm not really sure how to get out of here of what I would even do if I did get out..." She looked at the blue haired girl "were you planing to escape?..." She stood up dusting her self off and fixing her hair

"I know very little about this place... And the world in general... I was only activated about half an hour ago..." She looked around trying to figure out what she was gonna do "maybe I'll just stay here and wait for some other human to kill me" she said sitting back down

"Uuuhgg...." Phillip groaned as he got up. "I have got to stop falling today.... Wait. What? Man up? Are you saying I'm weak? Because you're right! Wait. Wrong! U- Please help me I have no idea where I am."

He jumped a bit as the glass broke and the guy fell out of it onto the floor. He frowned.

"With people making surprise visits like this," He said, "We'll probably at least have one person in the next five minutes." He paused. "Oh, um, my name's ((-checks bio-)) Phaestus." He said, a bit nervously. "

Yours?" He asked, while stepping a bit closer to the guy on the floor covered in glass to offer him a hand to help him up.

The android looked up to the blue haired girl then to 'Phillp' "Would it be ok if I killed this one?..." She asked

"I don't think it would really matter. It doesn't look like it's gonna help the human race in anyway..."
