Populace of the Heavenly Registry (LFG/LFP)

In this thread people will post characters that will hopefully one day be adopted by a wise and powerful storyteller who will help them forge the chronicles they will leave to posterity. Following the general format that the forum tends to use or the books themselves tends to use would be advisable. Feel free to post applicable artwork, videos, and themes (please try to use NSFW discretion). If the media gets out of hand we can deal with it then. If the character has been played before, feel free to include their history or a brief summary of such. Remember, this is for us all, so have fun and let's see if we can get some games out of this. Also, if you don't give a clear or concise summary or concept, I will make one up for you and it may be dumb.

In this post the entreating shall be cataloged by their character type, an extremely brief description, and their current status. Akumas will be listed under their original splat and will be marked as such until it is brought to my attention that this is dumb by someone.

Or the more likely use: character creation practice and character dump.

If my prose are not clear: STs= Nab some players for a game. PCs= Post your sheet

Re: Populus of the Heavenly Registry (Exalted Talent Pool)

When Deeply Troubled Open Palm first shared his name with the public, everyone, including himself, thought it was because Palm was so contemplative and introspective. Little did they know it was due to the fact that Palm was created with Gremlin Syndrome implanted into him by a Void cultist hiding among the vat workers.

Palm's last life, truly the life that cemented his place as worthy of Alchemical Exaltation, was that of a populat worker who, noticing strange behavior in one of the champions, befriended, exposed, and died trying to stop the Apostate from being able to wreak havoc on the Great Maker. This experience with gremlin syndrome will help Palm realize exactly why he gets so frustrated and feels these urges to lash out when he starts to get into the higher levels of dissonance, presenting him with a very obvious dilemma, which will make him- Deeply Troubled.

Palm's previous lives all play to the tune of individuals who did what had to be done, either at great bodily risk, or personal anguish. Most of these lives dealt with Void Cults and Gremlins, hardly getting involved in politics.

Open Palm, like his namesake, can be unassuming, yet deadly. His cool demeanor empowers his bold strikes. Possibly, when faced with his own inherent gremlinism, Palm may see it as another necessary unpleasantry for the greater good just like so many he has been forced to perpetrate before. This sentiment may be supported by the memory of the befriended Apostate yielding to his past life, due to their friendship, despite their alledged mutual destruction.

In conversation he is modest, yet certain. Palm will not speak out of turn, but his words will be heard. This calculated demeanor is interrupted with bouts of frustration and anger as his Gremlinism begs at his psyche.

Palm gets along well with his circlemates, as long as they do not lean towards apostatism because he judges all instances far more harshley than his own.

Palm walks a very thin line when it comes to charms, with equally human aspects paired with overtly mechanical pieces.

In propaganda Open Palm is said to be hovering over each of our shoulders, as ready to strike down the citizen that lose their way as he is to help those on the straight and narrow. Palm does not approve of his image being used to "placate social distress", but pursues little public action to combat this persona, other than how he holds himself in close contact with other individuals.

Appearance coming, I need to get some sleep.

Notes-

I made this character as an exercise in Gremlinism and Alchemical casting, which seems to be a rather tricky art. Palm originally started as a Moonsilver caste, but as I played with him he just became more and more a Soulsteel Alchemical. I tried to stat him to character, so he isn't exactly optimized.

Palm is able to be from any nation of Autochton necessary for the chronicle, and can even head out into creation to observe and if necessary combat the disruptions of this realm, although his presence there excacerbates his condition.

Re: Populus of the Heavenly Registry (Exalted Talent Pool)

Wintersweet (“Joy of the Mountainâ€)

Concept: Travelling Player

Exalt Type: Sidereal

Normally, the Exaltation of a Sidereal is a very different experience from that of her fellow Celestials. When a Solar or Lunar is Exalted in a flash of glory, they find themselves alone and bewildered, targeted by religious fanatics and shunned by terrified mortals. Sidereals, however, are known to Heaven from the moment they Exalt, and sometimes even before. Rapidly tracked down by their brethren and whisked off to Heaven for training, they don’t have to deal with angry mobs wielding pitchforks...or Immaculate monks wielding deadly fighting techniques.

However, in this fallen Age, accidents can happen.

Wintersweet was a normal girl, born to a well-to-do family in the city of Cherak, whose biggest problems were convincing her parents she really wanted to be an actor and not a civil servant. It was an uphill battle: her father was the first generation of his family to enter the Imperial Service, and he was anxious to see his daughter succeed him. Neither he nor Wintersweet’s mother had “anything against actors†-- they just wanted to see their children with settled and secure futures.

Wintersweet herself had no doubts about what she wanted to do with her life -- a vocation cannot be denied. She spent all her free time at the city’s one theatre, attending every festival and trying to form friendships with the actors. She even made small sacrifices to Venus and the gods of art and drama, despite the punishments that would result if she were caught. Then, one day, loitering by the theatre on her way home from school, she Exalted in a flash of silvery-blue light...right across the street from a group of Immaculate monks.

Chaos ensued as the Dragon-Blooded tried to kill the “Moon-Mad†and succeeded in killing the other two girls she was walking home with, and several of her neighbors to boot. Wintersweet herself was hustled out of the fracas by an actor she had been talking shyly with only a few minutes before. Flowering Vine brought her to a safe house on the far side of town, where the people reverently called her “Shining Oneâ€.

The tiny cell of believers sent a message to their leaders, informing them that a new messiah had been rescued from the oppressors. The response was dismaying: the secret chiefs were pleased beyond words…but they were unable to send one of their mighty messengers to waft the Illuminated one to safety. The cultists themselves would have to bring the promised deliverer to the holy mountain -- and with the Wyld Hunt raging, they would have to do it quickly.

What followed was a harrowing journey across frozen lands. Although Wintersweet had lived all her life in the North, she was a city girl, unprepared for such an experience, and her fledgling Joybringer’s powers were ill-suited to ensuring survival. In the end, she owed her arrival at the Gold Faction’s sequestered temple to the courage and hardihood of her mortal companions. She has never forgotten.

Wintersweet -- or “Joy of the Mountain†as she mostly calls herself now -- is a staunch supporter of the Cult, but most of all the ordinary people who make up its rank and file. She and a small group of actors, including Flowering Vine, travel a regular circuit -- they look like an ordinary stock company, but they actually work to keep small Cultist communities in touch...and Joy of the Mountain often performs the duties of priest for cells too tiny to have one of their own.

Of course, her job is much more than a cover to her. By fulfilling her own lifelong dream, she gets to inject a little beauty and wonder into the lives of others...and she makes sure they visit a few villages without a Cult presence as well, bringing their message of hope, change and possibility to those who have not yet received the Light.

Her biggest flaw is that she, passionately, unreservedly believes in the goodness and nobility of the Gold Faction...and the utter wickedness and callousness of the Bronze Faction. In her way, she’s every bit as blind as the young Solars rescued and trained by the Cult, and for many of the same reasons.

Essence: 2

Descriptions: When moving among Cultists, Wintersweet generally dons the resplendent destiny of the Pillar, appearing as Joy of the Mountain, actor-manager, Illuminated priest and Unseen Master. If working on her own, she often assumes the destiny of the Musician, becoming Sweet Marjoram, a ballad singer from Icehome. When it becomes necessary for her to take on a less wholesome guise she wears the destiny of the Peacock, posing as Origana, a high-class call girl from Whitewall.

Wintersweet’s eyes are what most people notice about her, for they the tint of the sea in the still, calm light that follows after a fine sunset, as luminous as the stars that come out over a harbor in the afterglow, and are fringed about with very long, soot-black lashes, and arched over by most delicately penciled dark eyebrows. Her skin is as fine and purely tinted as the heart of a white rose.

Joy of the Mountain is tall, with a great braid of shining chestnut hair, showing ruddy burnished tints where the sunlight strikes it, hanging over her shoulder. The dress of sapphire silk she wears emphasizes the grace of her supple form. Her face is oval and pale, with straight black brows and a finely cut crimson mouth—a face whose beauty bears the indefinable stamp of race and breeding mingled with a wild sweetness, as of a flower growing in some lonely and inaccessible place.

Marjoram is very pretty, with a vivid, irregular, bewitching type of prettiness. There is a gloss as of brown nuts on her satin-smooth hair and a soft, ripe glow on her round cheeks. Her eyes are big and blue as the sky under oddly sharp black brows, and her crooked smile is rose-red. The collarless blue dress reveals her smooth, slender throat; her sleeves are rolled up above her elbows and the hand which guides the bow of her viol is perhaps the most beautiful thing about her, perfect in shape and texture, firm and white, with rosy-nailed taper fingers.

Origana is a young woman who stands head and shoulders above the crowd and who carries a proud look on her face. It is not a soft face, any more than her body is soft. She is a woman of strong lines and high bones, and that makes for a good face and a handsome one, but hard, so hard. What makes her beautiful is her hair and her carriage, for she stands as straight as a spear, and her hair falls around her like a cascade of tumbling chestnut tangles. Her dress is of turquoise-colored silk, bright and remote as the evening sky. Origana's eyes are as blue as her gown, but with a kind of coldness deep inside them.

Re: Populus of the Heavenly Registry (Exalted Talent Pool)

Ferem Enuma Elis

Concept: Spy Still Out in the Cold

Exalt Type: Dragon-Blood

Pity the spy caught between masters.

Born to into one of Cherak's Great Families, Elis was a disappointment to her parents from day one. Although given a fine education, she had little interest in scholarship. Though she dutifully trained with weapons, she never got beyond "you stick them with this end". And although she grimly learned how to sail a boat, she complained of seasickness the whole time. As she grew older, she grew paler and duller in the face, and more sly and sullen in her ways. Soon, Elis found the most useful skill was keeping out of sight.

She proved good at this -- surprisingly so. And when she Exalted, her family received a visit from a distant cousin Elis had never met before, and her real studies began...

Enuma Elis is a spy for House Ferem. A master of disguise and imposture, she has passed herself off as a prostitute, a bath inspector, (Whitewall), an apocalyptic preacher (Gethamane), a road patrolwoman, a migrant laborer, a drummer, a gemologist, a gambler (Haslanti League), assorted Guild representatives and numerous Dynasts. And therein lies the rub.

Many of the Great Families of Cherak claim "cadet branch" status in one of the Houses of the Scarlet Dynasty. Others do not. As far as most of Cherak is aware, the Enuma family is one of the latter. In this they are wrong: the Enumae are an offshoot of House Iselsi, and as more and more members of that fallen House relocate to the Threshold, the family itself becomes less and less part of House Ferem.

Despite her unhappy childhood, Elis still loves her family and is loyal to her city and to the Ferem as a whole. Yet she is also an Iselsi, as was the distant relative who first oversaw her training as a spy. For the time being, her two loyalties are not in conflict. But she can forsee a day when the interests of Cherak and the interests of the Realm will clash. She does not know what her decision will be.

Description: When bared to the light, Elis' skin is unnaturally white and thin, showing her veins like a faded road map in blue. The muscles of her face, the bones and ligaments of her wrists and hands, all stand out distinctly, as if in an anatomical drawing. Her hair is stiff and colorless, like straw. Her eyebrows and lashes are visible only in certain lights; what one sees is the bones of the eye sockets, the veining of the lids, and the impenetrable eyes. They are not red or violet, since she is not a true albino, but neither are they blue or grey: the colors seem to have cancelled one another out in Elis's eyes, leaving an icy clarity. She never looks directly at anyone, and her face seems to lack expression, like a skinned face would.

Few people see Elis' true face very often, though.

Re: Populus of the Heavenly Registry (Exalted Talent Pool)

Dorissa

Concept: Seeker After Freedom

Exalt Type: Lunar

In the Northern satrapy of Dehenna, only a few thousand inhabitants are free. Within their number, a few dozen free and exceptionally wealthy citizens own the rest of the population. Slaves work the fields and toil in the mines. More than that, though, all the scribes and clerks, merchants, artisans and managers are slaves too. They receive other rewards and privileges. They can own other slaves and property. They can earn money. They can even become wealthy. Yet, they are not in any way free.

When the skeletal ship came out of the fog, most of the people on the waterfront fled screaming or stood staring blankly at the corpse-pale pirates who came rushing to cut them down with axes stained by frozen blood. Dorissa, the plump, seemingly placid daughter of a clerk in the service of House Ledaal, did not. Instead, she lured two of the pirates away from her sister and brother, giving her younger siblings time to escape. When the pirates realized they had been tricked, they tried to drown “the fat cowâ€. They were surprised, to put it mildly, when she suddenly glowed with dark blue light and transformed into a killer whale. It was the last thing they were ever surprised by.

In the aftermath, the whale surfaced once, gazing sadly at her stunned friends and family, who had gathered at the dock. But as the hissing whispers of “Anathema!†began, she turn and swam away in the direction of the Western Ocean, vanishing quickly from sight.

Description: A tall, slim, woman who wears silver armor, a short white hunting dress and white fur leggings, and carries a glittering spear and a bow of blue jade.

If you have ever been out alone, far from any dwelling, at night in the hills or mountains on a cold, crisp night when Luna shines brightly and lays a bluish sheen over the snow, an uncanny feeling comes over you that you are in an alien world, one not native to the human animal, and potentially deadly to him. Skadi embodies that sense of dangerous otherness that pervades the winter landscape. She is traveler over treacherous snow and ice.

Her marvelous beauty, however, shines out with the vivid richness of some rare painting. She is tall, and the heavy masses of her hair are coiled in a glossy, jet-black knot at the back of her head and ripple back from a low brow whose waxen fairness even the harsh Northern wind and sun have spared. Skadi’s face is a full, perfect oval, with features of faultless regularity, and her large, full eyes are of the deepest blue. Not a trace of color appears in the smooth, marble-like cheeks; yet the waxen pallor bears no trace of disease or weakness, and the large, curving mouth is of an intense crimson.

I want to run a campaign using only Arynne's characters.

But seriously, good show.

Aurethius, how did you end up with 18bp? Did you want to use a custom chargen or was there a flaw I didn't notice?

Re: Populus of the Heavenly Registry (Exalted Talent Pool)

Background: As the Chosen of Jupiter well know, there are some secrets that lie buried deep, secrets that need a little bit of help to be brought to the surface. There is no one who knows this fact better than the one best suited to bring those secrets to light: Bitter Lash.

The Chosen of Secrets known as Bitter Lash was once a young boy called Seven Pegs growing up in Nexus, not an easy thing if you're not well off, and his family was about as far from well off as you could get. The boy's father was a low-level low-life in one of the numerous crime organizations that plague the city, a nasty brute that specialized in making good on debts. Pegs could see no life other than the simple thuggery that his father performed, and so aspired to be no more than a common thug. His heart hardened to cruelty as his father taught him the tools of the trade. He could break a finger or smash a knee cap without a second thought as long as he could get the desired information (or money, as it so often turned out to be) from the scum that the crime syndicate demanded he visit. Things were looking good for Pegs (or as good as they can look when one is a rising star in a gang of mobsters), but it was not what Fate had planned for him. He was still young, only 16, but the syndicate promised him a promotion, provided he could finish one last knee-breaker. He went to the address they gave him, but instead of another thug behind on his payments, he found quite a different scene. There was something strange about the men he found in the room, a quality of familiarity, but each gave him the feeling that he could just as well forget them in the morning, and each of them had intense, glittering green eyes. They offered him a job, far better than what the syndicate was offering: no longer would he merely collect debts, but information, and it would always be of great importance. He could have luxury, if not necessarily riches, beyond what he had ever dreamed of. Most importantly, he wouldn't have to live in the slums of Nexus any longer.

The men, of course, were from the Forbidding Manse of Ivy. They brought Seven Pegs back to Yu Shan and trained him in the arts of the heavenly bureaucracy, in addition to continuing his studies in the arts of interrogation enhancement. His training lasted almost three years before the Loom of Fate brought about what had been foretold years before. Standing Crane, one of the Chosen who brought Seven Pegs to Yu Shan passed away, one of the rare few who managed to pass away from old age, and his Exalted Essence was passed to the boy. Upon Exalting, he took the name Bitter Lash. He worked mostly in the East and the Scavenger Lands, usually studying the troublesome (and growing) Shadowlands there. The secrets of the Deathlords, and of their servants, dancing just beyond the edges of Fate, taunted and tantalized the young Sidereal. He doesn't always get the opportunity to go after the object of his interests, but such is the life of a newly appointed bureaucrat.

Personality: Though lash has softened up a bit since he was brought to Yu Shan, he is still as ruthlessly efficient as ever. His loyalty to the Forbidding Manse is immense, to say the least, and he does his job with a near fanatical quality. He is not unfriendly when working with others, but he can be a bit curt and blunt.

Notes: This character was originally made for a campaign that was investigating Abyssal activity in Creation, though it did not get far off the ground (or rather, I was brought in as a replacement for an already struggling game, and the character did not last very long). I like the Deathlord angle, but the same concept can be changed to apply to the Fae or any other group of antagonists who exist outside the Loom of Fate.

Re: Populus of the Heavenly Registry (Exalted Talent Pool)

This is a character with a strange history.

I created her for a game that never saw its first session. Then I powered her down and made her a mortal thaumaturge for another ST. Then I made her a Solar again, and an Illuminated One to boot, for a third game. Then I rewrote her as a Sidereal for a game on this site.

None of these games ever got off the ground. Is she a jinx? Has the Loom of Fate declared she Must Not Be Played? ::spooky music::

Bone Shadow

Concept: Dragon in Darkness

Exalt Type: Solar

The Shining One arrived on their doorstep as a young girl, stumbling and thirsty like a wolf run down by hunters. They gave her food, shelter and protection; she was humbly thankful, but she would not tell them her name, saying only, "She is dead."

Re: Populus of the Heavenly Registry (Exalted Talent Pool)

Benzi Mountain of his People - Dawn – Champion

Before his exaltation Benzi was one of the best warriors of his people, born second son to a great line of warriors. Though he was often over looked to the preference of his older brother Hasg, this though did not bother Benzi as it just was the way. Growing up Benzi would often lose the fight to his siblings for two reason one was to learn all he could about fighting and he knew the only way was to try new things and the other was for respect for his family. Benzi’s family though perceived Benzi as a weak warrior who would not last his first battle.

His older brother being three years older had been to his first war and received a hero’s feast. Now the feast feast was something Benzi could relate, all the stories he heard and the smells and women. When he asked his family when he would have his chance they said not for many years, he said he was ready. This had set his family with pride but also fear for they knew he would not make it. The next war his brother left for Benzi left too without permission.

When Hasg found Benzi it was too late to send him back so he set him to do some of the chores and spared with him during the journey. Hasg was stunned when he spared with Benzi as Benzi was winning and not using traditional stle. Hasg asked Benzi where this style came from, Benzi shrugged as he had always had it.

Benzi awoke the day of the battle, left behind by Hasg. Benzi scrambled to find a weapon but with all taken Benzi grabbed his training sticks and ran to the battle, when he arrived all the warriors look upon Benzi and laugh telling him that he should go back being a child with only sticks, not the proper sword and shield of a warrior and knowing he had never won a fight is his training. Benzi ignored all this as they knew it was the persons choice when to enter the battles. When the battle started Benzi ran to the front a training sword in each hand. While He knew that it would be hard for him to outright kill an enemy with just the sticks he did know he could wound and weaken them letting those behind him finish. Wildly fighting Benzi his fought his way to being surrounded by the enemy, not even realizing this he bellowed a challenge to the chief of the opposing tribe. The chief accepted what he thought to be the boy’s offer of sacrifice.

The opposing army fled at the humiliating defeat of their chief, by a boy with only two sticks. Benzi had killed the Chief with his own sword, and none of the chief’s warriors would fight Benzi. When Benzi returned to his village, his father presented his sword to Hasg. Hasg accepted it but at the Warriors feast Hasg presented it to Benzi, saying Benzi needed a second sword befitting him.

For three years Benzi charged the battles and his fame spread, and Benzi grew into a presence of a grand warrior till one final war when a champion of the opposing army challenged Benzi to a fight to end the battle before it started. Benzi accepted not knowing that he faced a Dragon blood. Durring the fight the air became warm then hot, Benzi fought hard unable to defeat the opposing warrior, his flesh burning he received his Exaltation granting him more than enough to win, and again he killed his opponent with their own sword. Everyone around knelt in awe.

Benzi knew with this battle there was more he must do than just glory of his tribe. Benzi took the sword of the dragon blood and upon returning to his tribe his family fearful told him he must speak to the Elders, who then told him the story of might golden warriors who had championed the lands long ago and took him to a manse a weeks ride away where a great many artifacts lay. When he returned to his village it was little more than scorched earth.

Worthy to Be Beloved

"Being born in a duck yard does not matter, if only you are hatched from a swan's egg."

TheSwanMaiden.jpg

Concept: Ugly Duckling

Exalt Type: Lunar

Jessamine's life was drab and cold.

While the rest of her people were slim, free-moving, firm and brown, she was pale and dull. She was dreadfully clumsy -- by Haltan standards, at least -- and though she dutifully learned the basic woodcraft required to pass her survival test, she showed no enthusiasm for any of it. Other children teased her at school, and she responded by retreating into a literary dreamland. Fact was too dreary, so fiction was the natural escape. She soon developed a taste for fantasy, particularly romantic fantasy. Even if she didn't have any real-life proof that love existed, she had faith.

She tried getting into acting, but stage fright crippled her. So she spent a lot of time watching plays and trying her hand at writing scripts. She had an excellent vocabulary and a good sense of style...but the inspiration just wasn't there.

She was always alone. She didn't feel comfortable in social settings, and nobody invites a sullen recluse into an interesting clique anyway. Every so often, she would fixate on somebody she thought might be The One and try pleasing them as much as she could; when it became obvious that they were not The One, she would quietly sever the ties and move on.

One moonlit night, though, everything changed. She had been hovering on the edges of things, as usual, wistfully watching a silver-haired youth she thought might be The One. When he slipped away from the festival, she followed him. Losing track of him for a few minutes, she was horrified to see him down on the ground...and the twisted shapes of hobgoblins emerging from the shadows between the trees. Heedless of her own safety, she scrambled down the ladder -- falling the last few feet -- and raced towards him, despairingly conscious of the chuckling raksha closing in. When he turned, smiling, to face her, she had just enough time to see he now sported heavy breasts and a pregnant belly, and glowed with silver light, before the Exaltation came upon her.

In one brief moment, Jessamine dreamed a thousand dreams of glory. She remembered soaring across the sky on wings that outpaced the falcon's, and running through the forest faster than the swiftest deer. She saw herself clad in silver armor and slaying monsters, or leading thousands in worship as clouds of sweet blue smoke rose to Heaven. And always, always, she sensed another at her side -- sometimes a man, sometimes a woman -- blazing with cold white fire and surmounted by the image of a golden bird. She woke up still on the forest floor, but amazingly enough, there were no Fair Folk in sight. She could see alarmed faces peering down at her from above. She was shivering and sick to her stomach...but in her mind she was still soaring through the air, jubilant at her own beauty and strength, and when someone started lowering a basket down to her, she laughed.

The Lunar pack who came to retrieve her looked askance at the pale, pudgy girl, and wondered openly whether she'd survive the intitial tattooing, let alone the trials. She surprised them.

Deposited in the Far Eastern rainforest between two tribes of feuding barbarians, Jessamine quickly discovered that the nearby raksha freehold was planning to attack and wipe out both. She also surmised that the Fair Folk were manipulating the second tribe, sending them visions and voices that purported to come from the gods. Befriending the young chief of one tribe (and learning of his secret love for the sister of the other tribe's leader) she finally succeeded in persuading them of the raksha threat. Meanwhile, she used her anima banner, illusionary powers and shapechanging gifts (drinking her first Heart's Blood in the process) to convince the other tribe that she was a goddess...and to coax them at midnight, heavily armed, to the clearing outside the first tribe's stockade, where the tribesmen were already assembled, likewise armed to the teeth. Before either side could cry foul, the Fair Folk swarmed into the clearing...to be met with armed warriors where they had expected sleeping prey. Both tribes took heavy casualties, but the raksha were utterly annihilated.

In the aftermath Jessamine persuaded the two decimated tribes decided to combine into one, ending a hundred-year war. After the ceremony -- which included the marriage of the young leader to the girl he loved -- she returned to the retrieval pack, who declared her a Changing Moon, completed her tattoos, and sent her to Sky-Eyes the Destroyer of Nations for fostering. A fervent supporter of the Sun King Seneschals, Sky-Eyes encouraged Jessamine -- now calling herself Worthy to Be Beloved -- in her romantic dreams of her missing Solar mate.

As a mortal, Worthy had never found the true and nourishing love she longed for, but as a Lunar, it was her birthright. She eagerly listened for stories and rumors of the returning Solars as she awaited the arrival of the one the gods had ordained as her soul mate. Of course, she didn't even know what gender her Solar mate was anymore, but what did that matter? If there was one thing that Worthy had always believed in, it was that love had everything to do with the spirit and not with the body. And with her Changing powers, she vowed, she would be anything her lover wanted or needed. Anything...

Then came the revelation that turned all her dreams into nightmares. While on her way back from the city of Kadeth, she encountered a village under attack by a horde of zombies. Though she fought fiercely in the villagers' defense, the walking dead were too many for her, and in the end she lay gravely wounded on the forest floor beside the corpses of those she had tried to save, as the zombies' commander, a girl dressed in black armor, stood over her with daiklave raised. Worthy waited for the killing blow, but it never fell. The blade trembled in the air. Behind the helmet, a voice that shook said, "Lorengel?"

And Worthy heard her own voice whisper, "Helias..."

Thanks to Haku's grace, Flagg's power, and the braying of the masses we now how the Spoiler tag!

Why should we care? It can serve to make this thread much more viewable for when conversations about characters and possible games crop up.

I have altered the post for Deeply Troubled Open Palm to make use of the tags, I would suggest (strongly) that everyone follow suit, but in their own fashion.

Essence 2

Hiana grew up in a mid sized Haltan community. She was apprenticed to the local thaumaturge and studied the arts of alchemy and husbandry and skills related to their use. Hiana always had a sizeable wanderlust, and her elders realized she wasn't likely to stay in the community. They approached her and set her out on a task to journey to lookshy and learn from the academics there. Before she left, she was given a strange tube and told to keep it with her. Someone had an idea what her future held.

Hiana left the town and paddled the waterways without too much thought for her overall goal. She took time to stop and collect and study the various plants she encountered. She didn't plan on avoiding her charge, but she hadn't sensed much urgency from her elders on the matter. She was free. Going where the water went she almost got herself killed a time or two, but that just added to the excitement of it.

Eventually she made her way to Lookshy and inquired on alchemists looking for apprentices. Alchemy had always been more to her liking than husbandry, but it was hard not to learn those basic proceedures living in a Haltan society, not that she was one to begrudge available knowledge. She managed to find an alchemist and physician to apprentice herself to and set to her studies. She didn't particularly like the Lookshian way of life and suspected that her elders were playing some grand trick on her.

One afternoon while contemplating where she should explore that evening her master came in and told her to grab his tools and follow him quickly. She wasn't sure he could get anywhere quickly, but she did as she was told. They hurried off to a nice villa and were ushered into a lavish bedchamber. The man on the bed was clearly a soldier by his physique and scaring, but the color of his skin betrayed the reason for her master's visit. The man's mother fretted on the other side of the bed explaining the circumstances and listing the other physicians they had contacted. Hiana tuned her out once she got to the later part and focused on the patient. He should be able to meet his death in battle not in a bed by some poison.

Hiana and her master started testing the for known poisons, but it was becoming clear that this man didn't have time for the tests and antidote trials. Hiana returned to the bedside and studied her patient. A warm glow filled the room and she saw his problem. A poison she had not seen in ages... Quickly she gathered the required herbs and mixed her antidote weaving in the complex proceedure that would boost the potency. Except, she didn't have any lungroot. In what seemed like hours she forumalted a work around. An hour after starting their work, Hiana stood up and watched the man's skin return to a life-like color as his breathing deepened. She stepped back from the bed exausted as the man's family rushed into the room only to pause in wonder at the apprentice surrounded by a shimmering green tree with the mark on the unconquered sun plain on her forehead.

Lucky for her the man's father was a shrewd dragonblooded commander and decided not to proclaim her presence to the world. He made sure she moved freely to work with the skilled crafters of Lookshy as he hoped to find in her an engineer capable of giving Lookshy the edge over its enemies. Shrewd though he was, the workings of Lookshy were not enough to keep Hiana in one place. They parted ways on amiable terms, and Hiana accepted the ornate sky cutter he offered to help protect her on the road.

Ananasa

Exalt Type Lunar

Concept: Mad Scientist’s Daughter

Quarrel is an ancient Lunar who has never accepted the tattoos and is perilously close to chimerism. His age, power and reputation, however, forestall the steps the Silver Pact might be otherwise forced to take. He lives in a hidden manse on the fringe of the Wyld, where he uses his Charms and his knowledge of the Craft: Genesis to experiment with Wyld-twisted animals and Wyld barbarians. His original goal of creating stronger and more enduring life-forms has long since fallen by the wayside, and nowadays his experiments are for his own perverse enjoyment.

Quarrel has two daughters, Aminta and Ananasa. Aminta, the elder, is a Half-Caste with awakened Essence. Curiously, her father seems to prefer her to her younger sister, continually showering her with attention and gifts. Though Ananasa has Exalted as a Lunar and is a genius at repairing and reconstructing First Age technology, Quarrel continually expresses his disappointment in her, criticizing her every effort while heaping praise on Aminta.

Min is very pretty, with the obvious, indisputable prettiness of flaming, red-gold hair, vivid, certain color, and brilliant emerald eyes. Nobody would call Ana a beauty, or even pretty. She is rather lanky and weedy, with a rope of straight dark-brown hair, long, narrow brown eyes edged with very black lashes, and a crooked, clever little mouth. She has visitations of beauty when excited, because then she flushes deeply, and color makes all the difference in the world to her; but she has never happened to look in the mirror when excited, so that she has never seen herself beautiful.

Just as Min is the beauty, so she is the more extroverted of the two sisters. She is more likely to show hospitality to a guest, express pity for a captive, than the sullen Ana. A wandering hero taken prisoner by the mad Quarrel (there have been many such; they made excellent additions to the livestock) would conclude that Ananasa was "daddy's little villain" and that their best hope of escape lies in winning the favor of the lovely Aminta and then fleeing with her at the first opportunity. They couldn't be more wrong.

Notes: Ana’s spirit shape is a spider, a big one, standing about a meter high. She scuttles along in a swift flow of delicate, much-articulated legs that are attached to a rounded central body more than a meter across and half a meter thick. Her body is covered with silvery-white fur that shines like grass on a dewy morning. The abdomen has a slender, nubbly ridge or crest running atop it from front to back, and in the crest eight eyes are set -- two at one end, two at the other and four studded along the ridge. At first glance they seem expressionless, like a shark’s. But they also burn like blue-hot opals, full of shifting fires, and when a cluster of them fix on you, you feel the personality behind them like a blow.

Thanks for another great contribution Arynne.

If you could use the spoiler tags to help make the thread more manageable for when conversations about characters or possible games start coming up, I would appreciate it.

Re: Populus of the Heavenly Registry (Exalted Talent Pool)

Updated first post with new entries, and apparently two entries I had missed somehow, and Arynne's concepts because they were tired of my goofy ones!

We now have a perfect circle of Solars entered +1! We are primed to have a game start any day now! I know I will probably wrangle one up in the next week or so once my school load dies down.

Re: Populus of the Heavenly Registry (LFG/LFP)

M'Dleen Leblak grew out of the stalker phase of life shortly after the Usurpation. The Dragon King Society was in the beginnings of decay, and he had little support. He lived on the streets, and did what he could to survive. Once his memories began to return, he began to loathe the Dragon-blooded and what they had done. M'Dleen and some associates, fled from the Dragon King cities and ignored the plight of their people to pursue terrorist activities against the Shogunate. Through guerrilla tactics the cell was able to realize marginal success, infamy, and anonymity: leaving only the emblem of the UCS and the Solars wherever they would strike. This was in part possible with support from some gods in heaven. When one of the cell was captured, out of fear of being turned over M'Dleen Leblak and some of his comrades were put into hibernation.

M'Dleen Leblak awoke in the present day, alone, a stranger in a strange land. Worried that he was still wanted he changed his name and set off to find a place in this new era.

Notes: I have two background sets, 1 for if Zhan went to Yu-Shan when he awoke and found one of his contacts there. This is obviously for a Heavenly game. The other is for if he was unable to make it to Yu-Shan or was unable to reach any contacts, so he is terrestrially bound.

He is incredibly loosely inspired by Jean Valjean Les Misérables. He is my first foray into a DK character, and is also an experiment in DK character creation.

Re: Populus of the Heavenly Registry (LFG/LFP)

Are we allowed to carry forward a char with xp they got from previous games?

Name: Joleen Ires

Caste: Dawn

Motivations: Keep my lands safe from invasion

D7jh3.jpg

Joleen spent her childhood much like any other Murukan child does, tending the herd, helping their parents and travelling from place to place, seeing the wonders of the world. It was not all fun and games, however, as it was the family's intention that Joleen become a Circuit Rider. Border patrol, Judge, Sheriff, call them what you will, but it was well known that to become a Circuit Rider is to take on enormous responsibility.

For many years, she toiled under the tuetalage of numerous veterans, learning the ways of Circuit Riders, away from her family and the horses that she loved so much. Much to her delight, one of her mentors was even a Water Dragon Martial Artist.Though she had not exalted, her mentor decided to teach her the style, if for nothing else than to add to her defensive capabilities.

This life too, she gradually grew to love and enjoy, until one day, the fated day, when everything came crashing down. Her latest mentor and her were chasing a particularly gruesome murderer. He abused women and slashed their throats, only to leave the body in front of the family's house so he could enjoy their grief. They chased the murderer for days on end, pushing their horses until they could go no further, only to buy fresh horses at the next stop. Sleep and food became a fantasy in the face of the possibility that the murderer might get away.

The chase ultimately led into the Middle Marshes, but it was far too late to stop. The energies scratched and itched and the howling of unknown beasts clutched at their hearts. Thick mists swirled around them making it almost impossible to see beyond a few feet.

Suddenly, a beast came out of nowhere and slammed into the murderer, tearing and rending. A chill ran down Joleen's spine as it turned towards them, it's claws bloody and teeth dripping. It uttered a horrific roar and attacked Joleen. It launched itself toward her and her mentor, in an effort to save her, pushed her off her horse, away from the beast. The fall winded her and when she came to, it was too late. On seeing the mangled body, she flew into a fit of rage. She attacked the beast and her rage-fueled charge allowed her to land a few hits. Only when it turned to bite her did she realized something was wrong. There was a yellow glow and nothing seemed to hurt. When the glow wore off, she threw the beast away with suprising ease as if it were a flower and drove her claws through it's heart.

Having killed the beast, she turned with a heavy heart to pick up the body of her mentor. Securing his body across the horse, she checked for remains of the murderer. There wasn't much left, but thankfully the head was mostly intact. She tied it in a bag and headed to her mentor's home. In honor of her mentor, she took up his claws and his bracers and foreswow that as long as she lived, she would continue to fight any and all injustices in the land. She buried him and continued on to the village.

On reaching home and seeing the murderer's head, an uproar went through the village and a tribunal was convened. The story was heard and the head shown. All would have been forgiven, if not for the part involving the light. They understood that she was now anathema. As she was a Circuit Rider and her recent involvement in bringing justice to a particularly heinous criminal, it was decided to exile her instead of confirming her to her death by gifting her to the Immaculates.

Re: Populus of the Heavenly Registry (LFG/LFP)

You are allowed to do whatever the ST that picks you out wants to do. I would put up the original chargen, and just hope that whoever picks up the character gives you a little extra, but that is just me. Whatever you think they want. Since you have some play history, it might be advisable to include a link or something to that so as to give an idea to what the character is like outside of a write-up.

Re: Populus of the Heavenly Registry (LFG/LFP)

Name: Constant Hand of Progress

Caste: Orichalcum

Concept: Spiritual Surgeon

Note: Nation of origin doesn't matter, can be flexible to fit chronicle.

Motivation: Wake Autochthon!

Constant Hand of Progress was, like all Champions, born of necessity, and born ready to serve his God and Nation. Constant Hand's own situation was likewise similar to the births of countless other Alchemicals: as his home country drifted along on the biotechtonic waves of Autochthon's body, it inevitably drifted through blight zones and similarly dangerous areas. The city of his birth was in a particularly vulnerable position, and it needed Champions badly. Using what resources it could, they scraped together the shell of an Exalt and began the search for a suitable soulgem, and after long last, they found one. An amalgamation of theomacrats, Constant Hand had, in his various lives, stopped war between nations, led a band of nomads as they followed a soon-to-be metropolis and protected them from dangers, and initiated a massive campaign of resource donation by force of personality alone. Satisfied with their choice, the soulgem was implanted, and a burnished and magnificent Orichalcum caste was the result.

He was deployed first and primarily as a combat unit, fighting off gremlins at every turn, it seemed, and this initial assignment greatly shaped his personality. From his past lives, he was already familiar with, and fervent about the worship of Autochthon; he knew that the Great Maker was sick, but it was only now that he had to put down the results of that illness that he realized just how widespread it was. The more time he spent away fighting the gremlin threat, the more pained his dreams became. Fueled by Clarity, his dreams echoed with the hardships of the Machine God. Constant Hand could feel the Void eating away at everything he had ever known and cared for. He decided then that he would try to cure Autochthon at any cost. Increasingly, he came to suspect that this would involve waking the slumbering Primordial, but such a task was Herculean. However, an idea is beginning to form in the starmetal network of his brain, and soon, he may even begin to enact his plan to save the world-god as he knows it.

Personality: When it comes to his work, Constant Hand is a consummate professional. He works quickly and with precision (or at least he tries to), but is prone to frustration if his exactingly plotted plans get off track. He is happy in his work excising the gremlin scourge from the surrounding countryside, if one could truly call it that, but he knows this is only part of a larger whole. He spends his spare time in reflection of the Machine God's condition, applying theology and science alike in his search for a cure. He does not keep his ideas to himself either, and he has been known to spar intellectually over the problem with his fellow Champions, Tripartite members, priests of the Theomachracy, vat technicians, and just about anyone who will listen, Populat included. Where curing Gremlin Syndrome is a common concern for most, the study of the Machine God's disease is an obsession for Constant Hand, and some of his ideas occasionally border on heretical.
