Hi everyone! How`s it going?

So, I wanted to talk about the various genres and after a small analysis, give some tips on them. However, I do not want to talk about all of them at once, so I`ll leave it to eager voters to decide which goes first.

If I forgot a genre, please tell me about it and I will change the poll. I will not talk about the horror or modern/realistic genres at first

While I don`t question your quality, experience or insight into reolplaying and it`s various genres, I don't think it harmful for there to be different opinions and insights into the same thing. In fact it may be helpful.

The best thing to do, would be to have this thread deleted and start a new one. For the new one, actually type up something users can read about your opinions/tips on one of the genres.

I'll be honest, it was weird seeing you say you wanted to talk about different genres, then put nothing afterwards and wait for a vote. In his, Grey at least started off with something, then asked for requests.

What you're doing would only work for known experts. I see you're new to the site, so you have to prove what you know is good by putting your foot forward first.

I see. Well, thanks for the tip!
Still, I`m not sure if this works, but I did post something prior to this. Here: https://www.rpnation.com/threads/blocking-the-block.125136/
Lol, you need a manager, Idea! It was confusing to find, but there are a few issues. I'll list them all in no special order.

The thread you linked me to, is in the "workshop" part of the site. The place that holds tutorials. If you want a discussion, that would not be the place to go. Tutorials are more, post for people to read and I'm done. Comments are secondary.

A majority of users don't check the forums, let alone respond. Even less so for the workshop.

Where you want to post that, is where you posted this one. Start with one point and start a conversation. Bring your other points into it one by one.

You`re right, Ì might just need one. If you know anyone who`d be willing to give a hand with that (not a moderator/administrator, they have enough work in their hands already), I`m open for suggestions.

My point is to share my opinion on the various topics I intend to talk about, to provide tips on them and if possible even help improve rp experience for those who read the thread and those who are rping with people who read the thread.

I think, based on what little expericnce I have with forums, that they tend to swing on the set topic quite a bit. Besides, I'd never be able to say everything I wanna say if I am engaged in an argument.

Oh, of course. I just thought you should be aware, in case you might waste your time. But by all means; if you can do at least markedly different - if not better - more power to you.

I will be watching with interest and hope for an enriching discussion.

Also, Masquerade is correct; you should lead with your tips and opinions - based purely on your previous thread and your given age, my gut reaction is 'this person would lack the experience, perspective, or education to say anything terribly useful on this topic'. I don't mean that as an insult; the Dunning-Kruger effect is a pernicious cognitive bias and most people don't get past it even once their neurological development is complete.

Prove my gut wrong, basically.

I will strive to prove your guts wrong. While I will not say I am "a pro" or "the most experienced" on the matter (which would flat-out lies, and bad ones at that), I do think my opinion and my examination on the topics will in the very least be fresh.

But enough rambling, I shall begin writing in a bit, and tomorrow we`ll see how it went. :)

I'd suggest doing a site search before delving into serious writing in case you find yourself repeating information that's been collected in other threads. Now, this isn't because I don't think extra insights aren't valuable, but it might be worth contributing to existing threads instead of starting entirely new ones.

It is true that giving my comment on the work of others, which will surely be just as valuable as mine (if not more), may avoid repetition, therefore eliminating the risk of redundant information. However, there are a couple reasons I will still do my own thread:

1.Logic and vocabulary- As previously mentioned, I am not a professional, not a "pro", none of those things. If I tried to delve in with the "official" definitions and vocabulary, this would be a complete disaster or at least it would surely add nothing new to the table, since the regular definitions were certainly already covered. When examining, I tend to come up with my own wording for certain things. That means I need the text to be followed straight, and in one piece. It also means it would limit my responses to other threads.

2.Influence-As everyone knows (or should be aware of), what we see, hear, read, etc... has a certain influence on what we think, do and say. That`s one of the reasons people are so worried about violence in video games. Now, if I went and read those other threads, I would be responding to those other threads, taking sides, rather than stating my own starting point and final position. Comments are often about how you see someone`s opinion on a certain matter, rather than how you see the matter yourself, which while not wrong, is not what I want to do.

I'm excited to see this happen you go dude

I hope, if you plan to invent your own terminology, that you take the time to define it.
