Pokemon's Life Without Humans

Story:
Welcome to the only town in Skyblue Island, Skyblue Town! Well, or what used to be it. The town population had been dwindling due to the aging demographics and few reasons to settle. The town became abandoned when Professor Evergreen finished her research on the natural habitat of Mudkips and Treeckos. There really was no reason to stay. Everyone remaining left with her; the professor's aides, Nurse Joy, and the few people still living there.

The last ferry sailed for Slate Port City. With the humans gone, left behind are Pokemons. Some are released by their owners, some are wild Pokemon curious of the silent town. Either way, there is now a whole island for just pokemons, and no humans.

...

Welcome! If the title and the story aren't clear enough, this will be a slice-of-life roleplay about Pokemons in a humanless island. Maybe you are an Incineroar that washed ashore from a ship wreck. Maybe an Alcremie released by the poffin baker before he left the island, or maybe a curious Froslass who climbed down the mountain because the town has suddenly turned silent. Either way, no humans.

    What is the island climate?
Most of the island consist of forest and wetland, but there are extreme places like an arid valley or snowy mountains deep into the island. It makes sense for me so it's good enough. Have your Diglett cave and Unown ruins.

    What Pokemon can I use?
While Skyblue Island is located in Hoenn Region, any pokemon is allowed for the roleplay. Pokemon from Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos can reasonably live on the island due to the diverse climate. Alolan and Galarian pokemon might be brought over by other residents or stayed to the island. Hisuian Pokemons are extinct... unless they came from a fossil or something, idk. Make a good story if you want one. Same story with legendaries. Like... why would Tapu Koko chill here.

That said, Mega-evolution will not be possible with the lack of trainer, as is Gigantamax pokemon due to the lack of power spots.

How does moves work in this roleplay?
Refer to the anime more than to the game. Your Pokemon can use any moves it naturally can, plus TM/HM Moves if it was owned by a trainer before or taught by another Pokemon. Also egg moves I guess.

How strong/What level should I make my Pokemon be?
You are either pokemon released by a trainer or a wild pokemon, so just make a rough estimate. It's a slice-of-life RP so I'm not that strict on power level. Personality and story > Power.

Your Pokemon is a Choice Band-holding Strong Jaw Dracovish? Ok that's cute hun mine is a magnemite that rolled out of the ship as it left and is now completely distressed because he can't eat more poffins so he started trying to learn cooking despite having no hands.

How many character/Pokemon can I make?
One is fine, two is cool, I'm hovering my hand over the 'delete rp to erase existential crisis' when you make three. Make as many as you can handle! Side characters and NPCs allowed.

"Slice of life" stories can be hard to keep going without the right tempo, but the idea is nice. I'll take part if enough people show interest.

We shall try blindly hoping to dance to the same rhythm

if you’ll allow me ;-;
Welcome <3

I'm thinking of keeping everything scene by scene. Say on this day a bunch of pokemon is at town exploring and a pair is at the forest fighting. When everything done we can timejump to the evening/ next day after discussing a new scene we all want

How am I supposed to interpret reactions without declaration of interest

Is it 'I love this idea but I can't join this rn/not my cup of tea/ insert reason'?

or is it 'I love this but I'll wait and see how many people are interested first because shy/jaded/ insert reason'?

That aside I will be working on the character sheet thread and post it before I sleep tonight!

Yeah, usually if I react to an interest check it means that I love the idea and stuff, but I have reasons as to why I didn't express my interest/I'm not committing to joining.

However, in this case, I am hella expressing my interest and saying I'll join if you'll have me, though I am pretty rusty when it comes to pokemon stuffs!

Hello i am new in roleplaying and would like to join you guys if i can i read threw the story of it and seems like something i could go with.

Got a few ideas for which Pokemon I might play, going to wait a moment and see what some others come up with first.

Ok so elephant in the room. What about pokemon that are carnivores? O.o

:D

If they were raised by trainers I can see them being used to a less meat-based diet! For food I say let the meat eaters eat meat! But also consider that they might not be interested in eating every herbivore they meet. Like how lions won't usually try to hunt hares (not worth energy) or an elephant (dangerous)

Also more reason to discuss relationships first 😌

It's just a suggestion,I'll go with the group consensus.

I was also referring to older Pokedex entries like Gastly's in Red/Blue referring to Indian elephants. If we go in that direction,we can at least say "animals" have been around in that world as recently as Gen 1.

But if the group thinks predation would make things more interesting or otherwise rule out the presence of Earth animals,I'll go with that too.

And hey,there's always Berries.

In Pokemon Legends Arceus, Raichu's Dex Entry replaces Indian Elephants with an outright mention of Copperajah. A lot of later gens have started to phase real animals out, especially since new generations give us new Pokemon to fill the niche of these animals. The ol retcon, one calls it.

... corals and starfish are animals and they exist, somehow.
