But what is the Neora Region? Neora is a fan-made region based on the arid portions of the United States, and locations such as Texas, Utah and the Mojave Desert. The region is massive and home to a wide variety of small tribes that compete for dominance in the region. The wild Pokemon are extremely dangerous compared to other regions, and will attack on sight - and they don't just go for the trainer's Pokemon companions. Tribals, without easy access to Pokeballs, tame Pokemon the old fashioned way. Many Raiders who attack caravans and procure Pokeballs will sell them to tribals who can pay. The evil team of the region, Team Bleak, was formed from the unification of six tribes - the Wild-Claws, the Slither Clan, the Boulder-People, the Crimson Maws, the Rocketeers, and the Technos. These six tribes are unified by Father Gabriel, a man from a far-away land and a vendetta that has gone unfulfilled for 50 years. Because of this, Team Bleak grunts may appear wildly differently from one another, as each of the tribes that make up the group have their own distinct cultures. Team Bleak was formed in opposition to the increasing colonialism from outside regions, although their endgame may be quite cataclysmic if they get their way.
The region that has attempted to expand the most into Neora has been Kraackle, a cyberpunk-inspired region that doesn't have its own lore (YET). The largest city of the region, Duskmaw City, was founded by settlers from Kraackle. The corporations from the region want to harvest the bountiful natural resources of Neora, and have already wiped out three tribes in expanding. The most impactful mark that Kraackle has left upon the region is the Y-22 Research Facility, which was a research and development city established by the private defense contractor Pliume Industries, a corporation based out of Kraackle. The Y-22 Research Facility conducted a wide variety of experiments and advanced Pokemon genetic engineering, but they underestimated how much of a problem burrowing Ground types would end up becoming, which led to the foundation of the facility growing weaker. A specimen breach ended up ruining the facility and all personnel had to evacuate. Many of the genetically engineered species from the Y-22 Facility became part of the wildlife of the Neora Region. In fact, one of the starters in the region came from the facility. The ruins of the facility remain a grim reminder to all who would try to tame the desolate expanse of Neora.
The three starters for the region (fully evolved) are Ursolate, a Fire/Grass type bear which ignites its claws when charging into combat, which is revered as a pinnacle of predatory might by the Claw-Kin, Basifrisk, a Water/Ghost type genetically engineered Pokemon created at the Y-22 Facility that combined DNA from a reptile and bird with the ability to run on water, and Cactitan, a large Grass/Rock type horned toad Pokemon with bristles like a cactus. These Pokemon are traditional starters for the trainers of Goodrock, a small nearby the R-78 Highway.
Lore is a big fat WIP.
