Pokémon Legends: Journey to the League

Trainer Card Emilie Corsica.png

R E Q U I S I T E
Name: Emilie Veers
Gender: Female
Occupation: Gym Leader of Swordbreak City

Persona
Likes
Challenging Battles
Travelling
Meeting Interesting People

Dislikes
Easy Victories
Doing Nothing
Pokemon Mistreatment

Personality
Emilie is on the surface a calm and collected trainer. She seems almost apathetic to most things and almost appears not to have any drive. She is dutiful, but appears to lack any enjoyment for her occupation. Though that has not always been the case. The gym leader used to be a passionate young trainer, seeking out only the strongest to prove herself and experience the most challenging battles.

The apathy that has taken a hold of the young woman extends to many parts of her life. But there is some things that do get to her. Especially mistreatment of pokemon sparks a fire in her, that seeks its equal. Pokemon thieves are another entry on the list that get her boiling with rage. On the opposite end of the spectrum, seeing new trainers befriend their pokemon will usually draw a tired smile on her face.
Background
Emilie was born as the daughter of the previous Swordbreak City gym leader. It was her father, Connor Veers. The man had been gym leader for decades, his team of strong dragon type pokemon guarding the way to the Corsica League by defeating those unworthy to obtain the final badge.

Emilie was raised alongside Pokemon. They had always been part of her life and she learned to love them at a young age. With 7, she encountered a hurt Shuppet, which had gotten stuck near the eaves of a house. The young girl quickly freed the pokemon and gave it some refreshing potion. Shuppet flew away, but Emilie was satisfied with having helped the Pokemon. That same day, or night rather, the shuppet showed up at the window of Emilies room. She waved to it and let it in, playing with the pokemon until she fell asleep. The following weeks, the same thing happened over and over, with Emilie growing close friends with the Shuppet. It decided to stay with her and through her fathers help, became her very first Pokemon. Emilie would soon learn that her ghost type friend creeped out many other children and even some adults. Ghost types seemed to have a bad reputation, which Emilie found to be incredibly unfair. She decided to not only learn more about them, but to train with her ghost friend and show people, what this type was capable of.

The young trainer was learning many things from her father. That, paired with a natural talent at battling, let her quickly become stronger, just as she was looking to. She began to travel, taking on strong trainers where ever she found them. Emilie had a passion for pokemon, a passion for battling. And she excelled at it. Her team soon grew, more ghost types finding their way into Emilie's heart.

When Emilie was 19, at which point she was already a very accomplished trainer, her father retired from his position. He was looking for a successor and soon, the idea of his own daughter taking over the gym struck his mind. She was strong, she had proven her wit, her responsibility and her love for pokemon. After some talking with the League, his idea was approved. Emilie, however, only agreed under the condition of changing the badge that would be earned from her. The Scale badge, that once had been given out by her father, was retired along with him. In its stead, the Spirit Badge came into the fray, along with a completely renovated Swordbreak City gym.

In the 5 years since that, Emily has been taking her responsibility very serious. However, having less time to travel and with that, less chances to battle, has taken a toll on the young woman. Emily has long lacked a challenge, as few make it far enough to face her and many of those that do put up no real fight against the strong gym leader. The last interesting battle was the last time Emily had to give away the Spirit Badge in defeat. That loss was suffered at the hands of the current League Champion, Ryan.

The Trainer
Leader-Challenge.png
Fighting Style
Emilie has a very aggressive fighting style. Her team boasts very powerful offense, though many of them are lacking in defense. She makes quick work of opponents, using type advantages to their highest extent. After all, a fainted pokemon can't really attack back, thats the only defense one needs.

Team
Banette
Banette, evolved from the Shuppet that Emily adopted at young age, is adamant about staying at her partners side. Usually found outside its pokeball, this mischievous pokemon likes to cause trouble and pull pranks on others, often in hopes of cheering up its friend.
Ability: Frisk
Moves:
-Shadow Claw
-Gunk Shot
-Knock-Off
-Destiny Bond

Froslass
Behind the outside of a diva lies a timid pokemon, always looking to make its trainer proud. Froslass will pout if it does not receive anough praise for any of its accomplishments. Its need for praise also makes it give its all in any situation. It is one of the less offensive and more status-heavy options in Emilie's team.
Ability: Cursed Body
Moves:
-Destiny Bond
-Icey Wind
-Taunt
-Spikes

Aegislash
Aegislash is a rather quiet part of Emilie's team, yet a very formidable fighter. It loves its trainer dearly and is very protective of her, sometimes overly so. It shares the passion for battles that Emilie has and loves nothing more than a challenging opponent, that brings it to its limits.
Ability: Stance Switch
Moves:
-King's Shield
-Shadow Sneak
-Iron Head
-Swords Dance

Chandelure
Another rather shy and timid part of Emilie's team, Chandelure is a quiet watcher, who prefers to check on situations from the distance before deciding to engage. Chandelure seems to struggle with socializing, but feels a lot more comfortable and confident in presence of its trainer.
Ability: Flash Fire
Moves:
-Substitute
-Calm Mind
-Shadow Ball
-Flamethrower

Dusknoir
This intimidating presence is a true menace on the battlefield. Adamant on obtaining victory, it will go beyond its limits in any fight, never giving any less than its very best. Outside of battle, it prefers to remain silent. It is very competetive in nature and is prideful of its strength.
Ability: Pressure
Moves:
-Thunder Punch
-Earthquake
-Ice Punch
-Shadow Sneak

Mismagius
Mismagius is the last member of Emilie's team. It is quite intelligent and capable, yet remains modest. It enjoys understanding opponents and their strategy, which is why it likes fighting people more than once. It often plots together with Banette on pranks.
Ability: Levitate
Moves:
-Nasty Plot
-Power Gem
-Shadow Ball
-Protect

Trainer Name: Franklin Porter
Trainer Occupation: New Trainer
New Trainer: yes
If yes, starter Pokémon?: Ponyta(Kanto) by the name of Flynn.
Flynn is a creature with lots of energy and when this isn't put towards something productive he can tend to act out. Even though Flynn can be mischievous he has an overall jolly nature. Flynn has an orange scarf that he doesn't burn and is often seen wearing around his neck.
Ability: Flash Fire
Moveset: Tackle, Double Kick, Ember, Endure

Age: 14

Personality Traits
  • Wild
  • Easygoing
  • Rash
  • Brave
  • Hard-working

Other Info: Franklin's family owns a ranch in Corsica and he's taken to being a Pokémon trainer with his Ponyta, Flynn, to see the world. He doesn't care much about being famous but he's got a love for Pokémon and a challenge so he thought it a good idea to take on the gym challenge, and if his challenges bring him into extra money to bring back to his family that's all the better.

Franklin's the middle child in a large family with seven siblings, all of whom have worked on the ranch until Franklin came along and decided he wanted adventure.

He's pretty good at playing the fiddle after being given lessons by his oldest sister. He took one on his journey to remind him of home.

He's pretty talented with a slingshot and usually carries one with him for fun or to show off.

Franklin is a little bit of a hoarder and will usually pick up and carry random things he thinks are useful in a backpack. He'll usually carry a swiss army knife and a little bit of rope incase he needs them on the fly.

Yeah I checked that. I really didn’t want to add growl or tail whip cause in RP moves like that feel less interesting and didn't want to put any learnset above level ten.. I also didn't want to put to many tm moves on him so I went with one tm and one egg. Good to see it's alright.

Name: Nicholas Gould
Age: 13
Height: 5'2
Occupation: Psychic
New Trainer? No
Team:
- Name: Boo (short for Peekaboo)
- Species: Abra
- Gender: Male
- Ability: Synchronize
- Moves: Teleport, Confusion

- Name: Sunny
- Species: Eevee
- Gender: Female
- Ability: Adaptability
- Moves: Tackle, Tail Whip, Growl, Helping Hand

Personality:
- Clumsy
- Anxious
- Insecure
- Sincere

Background: Nicholas is the son of the Psychic Gym Leader Nora Gould. Like his mother, he also has psychic abilities, although they are not nearly as refined as hers. He is meant to take over the Psychic Gym after his mother, but has not been developing as a Psychic-type Trainer under her tutelage. That's why Nora sent him off on the typical journey that Pokemon Trainers take in hopes that he will develop his skills through that. He grew up with an Abra, which is technically his starter Pokemon, but since he was unable to properly battle with it, Nora arranged for him to get an Eevee which he'll evolve into an Espeon. That way, he'll gain experience battling with a Normal-type Pokemon, which she presumes is easier, and then move on to using a Psychic-type.

Other Info
Ryan's Goodra is always seen out of its pokeball. Goodra loves to hug Ryan and is very affectionate, Ryan and Goodra have a very deep bond as Ryan raised Goodra from an egg that was given to her by her dad. Due to its golden coloration, Ryan immediately fell in love with her Goomy. Goodra helps Ryan with certain tasks that she is unable to do herself.

Ryan is currently the youngest Champion Corsica has ever had being only 23 years old. However, she has only been Champion for 3 years and started her Gym Challenge at age 19. She had an awful amount of trouble getting past Nora's Psychic types. She is currently friends with the eighth Gym Leader, Emilie.

All of her Pokémon are kept in Luxury Balls.

Trainer Name: Illia Lancaster

Trainer Occupation: New Trainer

Starter Pokémon: Corsola-Galar

Corsola-Galar
Ability: Weak Armor
Mild Nature
- Curse
- Disable
- Ancient Power
- Whirlpool
Illia's Corsola has a close attachment to her, literally. It is often seen outside of its Pokeball latched onto the upper part of Illia's left arm, which prevents her from moving her shoulder joint (but is otherwise "painless"). It rarely shows curiosity or enthusiasm, and seems content being brought along wherever Illia chooses to go. Encountered at the Giant's Mirror in Galar's Wild Area.

Personality: Illia is often playful and a bit mischievous, but tries to be gentle and carefully pulls back when she senses that her actions are stifling the mood. She is highly considerate of her surroundings, and goes out of her way to check on people who seem uncomfortable. She likes to plan ahead and tries to be prepared for several outcomes. At the same time, she dislikes being roped around by others and prefers to disengage when she finds someone she can't agree with rather than trying to change their mind.

Other Info: Illia grew up in Galar's Hammerlocke. She was more interested in the vast open area outside the city rather than the "bombastic" Gym Battles of the region. Her favorite pastime was luring wild Pokemon with curry, and then taking pictures of them as they ate her creations. She met her Corsola several months ago on one of these excursions, accidentally punting it while she looked for an ideal space to set up camp. It caught her by the ankle, Cursing her and causing her to pass out. When she awoke a few hours later, she found the Corsola attempting to open her backpack full of the Berries and cooking ingredients she used. After feeding the Corsola a select number of berries, it stuck to her hand, and Illia resigned to the prospect of taking it home with her. After her parents moved to Corsica for their work, Illia decided to take on the Gym Challenge as a gateway to explore her unfamiliar surroundings. Her cooking specialty is dry curry with beans, which is her Corsola's favorite kind of curry.

Trainer Name: Grayson.
Trainer Occupation: Gym Leader/Detective
New Trainer: No
Name: Boss
Species: Honchkrow
Gender: Male
Ability: Adaptability
Moves: Night Slash, Taunt, Foul Play, Wing Attack.

Name: Halberd
Species: Bisharp
Gender: Female
Ability: Defiant
Moveset: Fury Cutter, Iron Head, Sword's Dance, Night Slash

Name: Wander
Species: Cacturne
Gender: Female
Ability: Sand Veil
Moveset: Sandstorm, Energy Ball, Spiky Shield, Poison Jab

Name: Trouble
Species: Zoroark
Gender: Male
Ability: Illusion
Dark Pulse, Night Slash, Sludge Bomb, U-Turn

Personality Traits
  • Serious
  • Calculating
  • Distant
  • Gruff
Other Info you want to add: When the Gym Challenge isn't going on Grayson spends his time on investigation work in tandem with the police.
He's very much about order and his gym and battle style show his rigid personality.
May not seem the most passionate about his place as a gym leader but is devoted to proving that gym challengers can use their minds in tandem with strong Pokémon.

(Hope it works).
