Fandom Pokemon Hybrid Safehouse

The world is changing. The lines between species are shifting, blurring, evolving. Though they are still few in number, more and more hybrids are cropping up all over the world, most abandoned by horrified human parents, uninformed of the changes or perhaps disgusted by them. They were not expecting their children to so resemble the pokemon they kept as household pets or used as tools on the way to victory.

Most of them loved their pokemon dearly, but to see the features of them on their own offspring was just too much. The children were left to fend for themselves in a world that only grew crueler to their kind with every passing day. Some were lucky enough to survive. Those that could, made shelters, safehouses, for other hybris to live in, so they would hopefully have a happier childhood than they did.

That is where I come in. You will never meet me. We may never have any contact with each other besides this letter, but I want you to know that I will be watching over you, regardless of whether or not you follow the directions I give. I will do all I possibly can to protect you, young hybrid.

Now, onto business. There is an island, east of the Almia region, which is sparsely inhabited, by either humans or pokemon. Near the center of that island is a large stone castle, currently uninhabited. I offer this place to you as a retreat from the cruelty of this world. It is yours to use as long as you have need of it. There will be a delivery of various types of food, entertainment and such on the 10th and 20th day of each month, with cupboards filled, rooms furnished and wi-fi connected for when the first of you get there.

Even if you do not take it up now, this offer stands until such a time as I can no longer make it. Perhaps, someday, there will come a time when there will be no need for hybrids to hide in safehouses, but until that time comes, we will need to look out for one another, or I fear we will be hunted as game or used as guinea pigs in experiments...

I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose to do.

((I'm just gonna start this cuz I seriously have nothing better to do.))

Devon cautiously made his way through the large front gates, ears perked up to listen for even the slightest hint of sound. The dark haired teenager wasn't really sure whether or not he wanted to hear anything. He didn't really want to be alone on this island, but from his experience, contact with other living things didn't usually go very well... Like, at all...

Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, he let bright red eyes roam around, taking in his surroundings. As the letter had said it would be, the castle was located in the center of an island east of the Almia region. The landscape was mostly made up of a serene forest with a small mountain range taking up a corner in the northeast. It all seemed so... perfect... There had to be some kind of catch somewhere... (Devon wasn't so sure he really wanted to find it, though...)

Shrugging, he pushed open the large dark wood doors, stepping inside the castle for the first time. There were no sounds of movement nearby, and he couldn't smell any indication that anyone else had been in the entrance hall for a while... Dark, pointed ears flattened on top of messy hair and he let out a small whimper in the back of his throat. He'd never thought he'd be the first to get there... Now he was in this huge, unfamiliar building all alone and he'd have to go find... Suddenly, his ears perked back up, his expression and entire posture following the motion as his bright red eyes lit up in excitement. If no one else was here, then he got first choice of where to sleep!

With that uplifting thought in mind, Devon raced up the stairs on the left side of the room, tail wagging madly behind him as he began his search for a good room.

Glacia walked slowly towards the indicated area, staring at the castle before her. She heard noises inside the open doors, and she curiously stepped inside, looking about at the large room. She walked until she came across a flight of stairs, and of course, started up the steps.

((Sorry it's been so long, getting ready to fly out and getting settled back in once you land is kinda stressful and time-consuming... -.-; ))

Devon froze, standing completely stiff with his back to the stairs as some stranger made their way towards him. His leg muscles tensed and loosened a few times, getting ready to sprint down the hall at the slightest hint of danger. Whoever was behind him was powerful, and Devon wasn't foolish enough to believe that he could beat them if they chose to attack. His strength (but more-so his speed) was nothing to sneeze at, mind you, but he could tell (and admit to) when a battle came up that he wouldn't win. And he tried to only fight when he knew he could win. If he stuck around for any other fight, he'd likely end up dead. Or worse.

After what seemed like a long time, the dark haired boy finally cracked, ears flattening against his head and tail bending between his legs as he let out a low whine. "... I-I'm s-s-sorry..." He said quietly, not turning around. "... Y-you can g-get first pick... of rooms..." He wasn't sure if it was his fear of losing or just his social anxiety, but Devon bolted down the hall to go find the worst room he possibly could, in the hopes of avoiding conflict over the good rooms.

(Sorry, I was at the beach. :3 And it's okay; everyone has their own schedule. :) )

Glacia listened to a small voice apologize...but what for? She gazed at the male who had spoken, wondering why he seemed so...afraid. She started to open her mouth, but the said male bolted down the hall. She followed him, of course, more slowly, since that male was fast, and resorted to calling out. "Wait!" she called, watching him get further away from her. "Why are you running?"

The Mightyena hybrid slowed to a stop near the far corner, leading down another hallway, and glanced cautiously over his shoulder at her. She didn't seem particularly malicious... Devon sniffed a little in her direction, as inconspicuously as he possibly could. She didn't smell aggressive either... Finally, he slowly turned to face her as she got closer to him. "Yo-you're... not going to... h-hurt me...?" Had he always had such a quiet, almost-growling voice...?

Glacia looked at the Mightyena in curiosity. Hurt him? "Why would I do that?" she asked softly, wondering if her loud voice had also scared him. She took a step back, taking note that he might have also been intimidated by her closeness.

Devon shrugged. "Why... wouldn't you...?" She had no reason not to hurt him, after all. (Devon ignored the fact that she also had no reason to hurt him.) The world was cruel, the letter had even said so! (Devon ignored the fact that the girl in front of him was most likely also here because of that letter.) And not all hybrids were as kind as that letter-writer seemed to believe...

Glacia tilted her head. His way of thinking was strange, though who was she to judge? She just met him, and he probably had a hard life, harder than her own. Instead, she tried a smile, hoping that it looked like a smile rather than a face spasm. "I'm Glacia. What's your name?"

This was the place. Scintilla touched the walls of the building before going inside. This had to be it. It was exactly as the letter described. Scintilla had gotten used to living on the streets, but a warm bed and fresh food sounded so good. She saw two other kids and considered going to greet them, but for now she would just explore. Although Scintilla could be very loud and bouncy at times, now she felt a bit different. She lurked behind the two, wondering how you would get to pick rooms.

"... Devon..." He replied after a long moment, somewhat confused. "So... Does this mean I don't have to go find the worst room in the building so I don't make someone mad by leaving it for them when they could've had a better one if only I hadn't gotten there first...?" (Maybe, just maybe, Devon could have just been thinking about it too much. He did that sometimes.)

Glacia nodded at Devon. "It's only right you get your pick of rooms first; you were the first to arrive. I'll wait after you chose your room, okay?"

Devon nodded excitedly, pleased at her conclusion. With all the excitement, he'd almost failed to notice another person had arrived, but when he did, the black haired boy was caught somewhere between hiding in fear and growling in warning that he would protect his new uninformed-of-her-new-status Master-type-deal (even though she most certainly didn't need it, least of all from him, but she was the first one to be this kind to him in a long time, so his instincts told him to protect the nicest person ever) should the blonde choose to attack. Devon ended up in an interesting half-crouch, baring his pointed teeth at the newcomer. After all, everything was a threat until proven otherwise.

Scintilla hid behind Glacia without her even noticing. She was light on her feet; a good trait to have. When the wolfy looking boy bared his teeth at her, she squealed and clung onto Glacia's leg and whimpered. Even though Scintilla was officially a teenager at age 13, she acted like a child, and she looked small enough to be one. "Don't hurt me!" She squeaked, a few bolts of electricity appeared around her, prepared to attack if she needed too.

Devon crouched lower, watching the younger girl carefully. If he acted brashly, someone could get hurt, and the blonde girl seemed even more terrified than he was. He sighed, sitting on his haunches in the middle of the hallway, and ran a pale hand through dark messy hair. "... I won't hurt you... if you don't hurt me or my Master first... Deal...?"

Still clinging tightly to Glacia's leg as if she had known her all her life, she nodded. "Deal.. but why do you have a Master?" She asked curiously, tilting her head to the side. Scintilla was abandoned by her parents at 5. She'd never had a master. Never had someone to tell her what to do.

Luna looked around at the door, not sure weather to enter. She sighed, her crown jingling a bit as she moved. She felt a smile raise to her face as she heard voices down the hall. She walked in, shutting the door behind her. Her aura seemed to glow as she walked down the hall, her crown jingling slightly with each step.

Continuing to cling to Glacia's leg, Scintilla turned and looked at the new girl who came in. "Hiiiiiiiiiiiiii!" She said, giving her her best smile. This girl made Scintilla feel safe, unlike the wolf boy. Scintilla eyed the girl's crown. "Ooh. Shiny." She said, staring at it.

Luna waved. "Hi." She said brightly. She noticed that the person was clinging to another person's leg, so she decided not to mention the 'Don't touch my crown' part, trying to be a bit more gentle.

((... I've been waiting to see if Glacia's going to come back and do anything but macaron seems to be busy at the moment... ^_^ ; ))
Red eyes widened slightly at the sight of another new face, and a small whimper escaped as he hunched over himself protectively. Why were there so many people showing up here all at once?! Ears flattened against his head and tail tucked between his legs, he wrapped black-clad arms around his knees and hid his face in them. There were now three girls in front of Devon, all of which were most likely more powerful than him (yes, even the small electric girl that seemed even more afraid of him than he was of her (and yes, he was even afraid of her, he was afraid of just about everyone)) so one of them was bound to want to hurt him (perhaps the electric girl, as revenge for his less-than-pleasant greeting) and if one person was hurting him, why wouldn't the other two? Girls stuck together or something, right?

He whimpered again at the thought of what these girls could possibly do to him. (Freeze, electrocute, beat to a bloody pulp, etc...) Without even realizing he was doing it, he whispered a never-ending mantra of "I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry..."

Scintilla blinked and looked back at wolf boy, her ears perked up. "What are you sorry about?" She said, tilting her head at him. She honestly saw nothing that he did wrong.

Luna cocked her head, smiling brightly at him. "Your fine around me! No need to worry!" She said, her crown jingling as she moved her head back into place.

Devon shifted his head just enough so that he could peek out at them through his bangs. "..." He wasn't actually entirely sure what it was that he was so sorry for, and he didn't know how to explain it, even if he did. So, he remained silent, slowly standing up once more, walking shakily down the hall to continue his search for a nice, relatively safe place where he could curl up into a little ball and try to calm down.

Luna continued on her way, looking for a room. She finally found one, walking inside. She saw that it had lots of draping along the bed frame and walls. She smiled, closing the door gently. She took off her crown, setting it gently on the desk by the bed. She smiled, dropping onto the bed and sighing, taking in the room.

Scintilla finally left Glacia's leg alone to find herself a room. She walked in sort of a bouncy way, jumping more than walking. She finally found a small but cozy room, with a bed, a dresser, and a small desk. She smiled and flopped on the bed.
