Wishing on Words

- Orre: never a booming region, now a greater pit of crime and chaos.
Mere months after the second defeat of the Cipher Organization, trade with other regions ceased. Diplomatic negotiations came to a screeching halt. Tourists and ambassadors alike rushed for the nearest ferry or plane, and the region was left to fend entirely for itself. No one wanted their precious metals and gems, no one trusted the people in power. The desert nation with few resources outside of mines, the economy collapsed.
Years went by and other regions remained wary. Orre became a haven for the black market sales of Pokemon, drugs, and people. Gangs of all sorts sprouted in every corner, with Pyrite Town playing host to the reigning Bane. They were lead by the young Xavier Cross, a charming, ruthless man who believed himself to be the savior that Orre needed. By his hand would the region rise again from the ashes, and all those who spurned his home would pay the price for disloyalty. It wasn't long before he was elected Governor and he could finally begin to rebuild.
More time passed and finally, a plan sprung forth. Orre had become a nation of criminals--why not use that to his advantage? With the help of former professor Prizio Reid, Cross would design a miracle like no other, inspired by the one and only Giovanni Sakaki: a living weapon.
Team Rocket failed by utilizing Pokemon; they were animals, prone to instinct instead of logic, no matter the intellect of their project. Pokemon could never be controlled so absolutely. Humans, on the other hand, were much more flexible, especially with an entire branch of science dedicated to discovering how to manipulate their minds. But humans were weak. Thus the answer was simple: combine the two to create a weapon far superior to even MewTwo. But this weapon would not be sold to the other regions, no, not after abandoning the home of Governor Cross! No, no. Surely individuals such as Giovanni would benefit much more than the governments they so terrorized. Surely they would pay a grand fortune for the chance to wipe out their enemies so easily.
And so Project M3 began. - When you were no older than a single year, you were placed in a caged crib in an all-white room. Perhaps you remember your mother or your father, but never both. Perhaps you remember thin skin tinted rosy pink. Perhaps you remember the other babes in the room, all confused and tired, just like you. Certainly you remember needles and sickness, jolts of electricity or blasts of ice-cold air. Certainly you remember a crash, a fire, screams of fury and terror all in one night. You never saw the all-white room again.
Fast-forward seven years. You suffer from a sickness the likes of which no doctor has ever seen. It leaves you weak and breathless when you move too much. You hate being hot or maybe cold or even wet. Your diet consists mainly of raw meat, or you're a strict vegetarian. No one else has the same fascinations with certain elements of nature that you do. Why? Just what could be wrong with you?
Another 13 years pass. The sickness never left. No one ever found a treatment or a cure. Where are you? What are you? A street rat making their way through the pockets of the city? Are you a gang leader? A gang member? Or the lowest of the low, a mere servant, a slave? You might be a trainer from a foreign land. Maybe an activist seeking to better the world. But whatever you are in this universe, you find yourself in the desolate Orre region, volunteering for a new drug trial that just might be your saving grace. It might even save the world, the flyers claim. You will be handsomely compensated, of course, whether or not that matters to you. But when the needle pierces your skin, something happens. A ghost of a memory flashes in your head. Your body begins to change. You grow stronger. You look different.
What have you done? - This is my take on a dark and "realistic" Pokemon Gijinka roleplay. If you aren't sure what a gijinka is, or if you want some inspiration for a character, I suggest looking HERE and HERE.
Now for a little more information on the actual roleplay.
I have a vague idea of how I would like the story to play out, but getting there will be up to the characters. I'll set tasks for the characters to meet, just small goals for the characters to meet when necessary so that the story can stay focused. For example: Task 1: Characters meet up at _____. Task 2: Characters collect food/clothes. Task 3. etc. This is a DETAILED story of a MODERATE pace (3+ paragraph posts, and 2-3 posts per week). I would like to have about 4-6 people involved, no more than 2 characters per writer.

Questions:
♦ WHY are your characters the only ones to survive the process of becoming an M3?
- I already have the answer to this and will reveal it in time.
♦ WHAT will your characters do with their newfound power?
- How will they feel about it? Will they try to harness their skills, or hide from them?
- I will be playing one antagonist gijinka who's more than happy to part from the main group to use her power for not-so-happy things. She will be a minor character at first, used only to drive the story along. You're welcome to make a baddie as well, but please keep in mind that if they wish to part from the main group, then they will not be seen again until the story has progressed farther down the line.
♦ WHERE will your characters go?
- What will they decide to do? Search for a cure, discover their powers, find their families? They should decide as a group and try to stick together.
♦ WHO is the real bad guy?
- Is it Governor Cross? His advisor, Prizio Reid? Or is it a fellow M3? Who will the hybrids decide to go after, and how will that affect them?

Character Notes:
♠ NO Legendary/Mythical Pokemon gijinkas! PseudoLegendaries are okay, just remember that great power comes with great weaknesses. No godmodding.
♠ Characters are 20-21 years old.
♠ Besides Eevee evolutions, there should be no gijinkas of the same evolutionary line. For example: One person may have a Pikachu M3, therefore no one may have a Pichu, Pikachu, or Raichu M3. One person may have an Umbreon M3, and another may have a Flareon, and another may have a Sylveon. This is purely for the sake of Type diversity.
♠ Still debating whether or not to allow M3s to evolve. I'll get back to you on that.

Please note!: Despite my 5.5 years of RP experience, I have never before hosted or even conceived a full-fledged story like this one. I'm still learning, so if you have any tips to offer, feel free! I would also love to have an experienced co-GM to help me run this. If you're interested, please let me know.
