Wishing on Words

- Orre: never a booming region, now a greater pit of crime and chaos.
Mere months after the second defeat of the Cipher Organization, trade with other regions ceased. Diplomatic negotiations came to a screeching halt. Tourists and ambassadors alike rushed for the nearest ferry or plane, and the region was left to fend entirely for itself. No one wanted their precious metals and gems, no one trusted the people in power. Without trade to keep it above water, without even the meager tourism of survivalists and curious adventure-goers, the desert region's economy collapsed.
Years passed and other regions remained wary for good reason. Orre became a haven for the black market sales of Pokemon, drugs, and people. Gangs of all sorts sprouted in every corner, with Pyrite Town playing host to the reigning Bane. They were lead by the young Xavier Cross, a charming, ruthless man who believed himself to be the savior that Orre so desperately needed. By his hand would the region rise again from the ashes, and all those who spurned his home and caused the collapse would pay the price for disloyalty. It wasn't long before he was elected Governor and he could finally begin to rebuild.
Still more time passed until, at last, a sensible plan sprung forth. Orre had become a nation of criminals--why not use that to his advantage? With the help of former professor Prizio Reid, Cross would design a miracle like no other, inspired by the one and only Giovanni Sakaki: a living weapon.
Team Rocket failed by utilizing Pokemon; they were animals, prone to instinct instead of logic, no matter the intellect of their project. Pokemon could never be controlled so absolutely. Humans, on the other hand, were much more flexible, especially with an entire branch of science dedicated to discovery of their minds. But humans were weak, pathetic beasts with no power beyond their intellect. Thus the answer was simple: combine people with Pokemon to create a weapon far superior to even MewTwo. But this weapon would not be sold to the other regions, no, not after abandoning the home of Governor Cross! No, no. Surely individuals such as Giovanni would benefit much more than the governments they so terrorized. Surely they would pay a grand fortune for the chance to wipe out their enemies so easily.
And so Project M3 began. - When you were no older than a single year, you were placed in caged crib in an all-white room. Perhaps you remember your mother or your father, but never both. Perhaps you remember thin skin tinted rosy pink. Perhaps you remember the other babes in the room, all confused and tired, just like you. Certainly you remember needles and sickness, jolts of electricity or blasts of ice-cold air. Certainly you remember a crash, a fire, screams of fury and terror all in one night. You may remember being lost or sold or found by good people or bad people or people who can't quite decide where they fall. But, throughout your years of comfort or solitude or misery, throughout the bouts of a strange sickness that leaves you weak to certain elements, for better or for worse, you never saw that white room again.
Fast-forward twenty years. Where are you? What are you? A street rat making their way through the pockets of the city? Are you a gang leader? A gang member? Or the lowest of the low, a mere servant, a slave? You might be a trainer from a foreign land. Maybe an activist seeking to better the world. But whatever you are in this universe, you find yourself now in the desolate Orre region, volunteering for a new drug trial that describes your sickness oddly well and, according to the flyers, just might save the nation. You will be handsomely compensated, of course, whether or not that matters to you. But when the needle pierces your skin, something happens. A ghost of a memory flashes in your head. Your body begins to change.
What have you done? - This is my take on a dark and "realistic" Pokemon Gijinka roleplay. If you aren't sure what a gijinka is, or if you want some inspiration for a character, I suggest looking HERE and HERE.
Now for a little more information on the actual roleplay.
I have a vague idea of how I would like the story to play out, but getting there will be up to the characters. I'll set tasks for the characters, just small goals for them to meet when necessary so that the story can stay focused and the freedom of a sandbox RP won't leave you wondering what to do. For example: Task 1: Characters meet up at _____. Task 2: Characters collect food/clothes. Task 3. etc. This is a DETAILED story of a MODERATE pace (2+ paragraph posts, and 2-3 posts per week). I would like to have at least 4 people involved, no more than 2 characters per writer.

Questions to Keep in Mind:
♦ WHY are your characters the only ones to survive the process of becoming an M3?
- ***I already have the answer to this and will reveal it as the story progresses.
♦ WHAT will your characters do with their newfound power?
- How will they feel about it? Will they try to harness their skills, or hide from them?
- I will be playing one antagonist gijinka who's more than happy to part from the main group to use her power for not-so-happy things. She will be a minor character at first, used only to drive the story along. You're welcome to make a baddie as well, but please keep in mind that if they wish to part from the main group, then they will not be seen again until the story has progressed farther down the line.
♦ WHERE will your characters go?
- What will they decide to do? Search for a cure, discover their powers, find their families? They should decide as a group and try to stick together.
♦ WHO is the real bad guy?
- Is it Governor Cross? His advisor, Prizio Reid? Or is it a fellow M3? Who will the hybrids decide to go after, and how will that affect them?

Character Notes:
♠ NO Legendary/Mythical Pokemon gijinka! PseudoLegendaries are okay, just remember that great power comes with great weaknesses. No godmodding.
♠ Characters are 20-21 years old.
♠ Besides Eevee evolutions, there should be no gijinka of the same evolutionary line. For example: One person may have a Pikachu M3, therefore no one may have a Pichu, Pikachu, or Raichu M3. One person may have an Umbreon M3, and another may have a Flareon, and another may have a Sylveon. This is purely for the sake of Type diversity.
♠ M3s will be unable to evolve.
♠ Regarding special Pokemon as potential M3s:
- Ditto | A Ditto M3 would have the ability to shapeshift into any Pokemon OR person they have previously encountered. However, there should be trade-offs, such as a not-so-perfect impersonation (think of the Ditto-eyed Pokemon plushes), reduced power, a strict time-limit on transformations, etc. Feel free to play with it, but keep in mind the limits!
- Wishiwashi (Schooling Form) | M3 Wishiwashi cannot school. M3s are not true Pokemon. That is to say, while they may have the looks and powers of one, true Pokemon know that they aren't the real thing and are therefore wary. With this bit in mind, and considering the fact that School Form is simply a dense cluster of several Wishiwashi, the other fish would know that something's up and wouldn't join the M3.
- Kangaskhan (Baby) | The pouch baby is a separate entity from the adult and would not be included in the transformation.
- Vanilluxe | Considering its own design, a Vanilluxe would likely only be viable with conjoined twins.
***Obviously the biology behind all of this is very, very loose, but please try to consider it when making your characters. The scientists in charge of the project want it to be successful and wouldn't risk their subjects with random Pokemon/Human pairings. For example, if a subject displayed strong mental development and quick brain growth, that subject would likely be prepped for Psychic-type DNA.

Setting Questions
♣ You are NOT required to have played Pokemon Colosseum or Pokemon XD to enjoy this story! All I ask is that you know the basics of the Orre Region.
♣ Shadow Pokemon will not be involved for the purpose of this story. There may be a few that remain unpurified scrambling about and you are welcome to include them in your character's interactions if you have good reason, but they will not be the main focus.
♣ This story takes place 25 years after the events of Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness.
♣ For the sake of simplicity, Ultra Beasts will not be included in the story.
♣ Consider this a PG-13 roleplay. While heinous crimes such as murder, rape, torture, and the like most definitely occur in Orre, they will only be insinuated from the setting rather than directly described.
♣ Mega-Evolution and Z-Moves will be allowed for regular Pokemon.
♣ Z-Moves will be allowed for M3s after a considerable amount of training and will leave the user exhausted/dead depending on their own strength and stamina.

Please note!: Despite my years of RP experience, I have never before hosted or even conceived a full-fledged story like this one. I'm still learning, so if you have any tips to offer, feel free! I would also love to have an experienced co-GM to help me run this. If you're interested, please let me know.
