Alright guys, this is just a general interest check for something I cooked up years ago for a nuzlocke challenge on another forum.
The universe I was going for was a gritty, dark interpretation of the Pokemon universe, essentially pokemon were a dangerous invasive species that started out as Dittos washing up on the shorelines of several beaches around the world. These creatures adapted perfectly to their surroundings to create the pokemon we know today, causing heavy environmental damage and becoming quite a threat to the human populace, forcing them to take drastic action.
Between the drastic changes to the environment, and the threat of ever more powerful pokemon, humanity settled into heavily fortified megacities and researched ways to reverse the damage. In came a company called Hammerpoint RnD, who developed the first pokeball like device, known as the "Pokemon Nullification Device", or PND. The device was designed to erase a pokemon's mind in order for the pokemon to be easily disposed of at one of Hammerpoint's many facilities, however, some people were able to trigger the device through hacking its system to release the lobotomised pokemon, and found said pokemon would respond unquestioningly to any orders. "Trainers" started battling these pokemon for sport and money.
In came another company called NanoWerx industries, they saw the potential of this new sport and sought to dominate the market as much as they could early on. Their first product was the "Pokeball MK1" a device similar in principle to Hammerpoint's PND, except this device changed the biological priorities of the pokemon they ensnared, enabling them to be controlled by human trainers and making them unable to target humans with their moves. This made NanoWerx very rich, very quickly.
However, other companies quickly took to the stage, most notably Teknos, who developed most of the items familiar with players of the pokemon games and Cybertronix who specialised in cybernetic enhancements to pokemon to increase their combat potential. Not to be outdone, NanoWerx started development of the NeuroCollar, shamelessly stealing Cybertronix cybernetic research in the process. The NeuroCollar was a device that when implanted onto a pokemon altered and enhanced their brains in such a way that they could make pokemon thinking, talking, sentient beings, however it also blocked their capability to evolve any further.
Naturally the device was highly controversial, highly complicated and highly expensive, and at the time the RP takes place is only in the prototype stages. This is where your characters come into the picture, NanoWerx has picked you and several other employees out at random from its list of staff and tasked you with testing this collar by becoming a trainer yourself in an attempt to ensure that this technology is usable by people from all walks of life. For this you have been given a pokemon enhanced with the NeuroCollar technology. However, the testing was interrupted by a terrorist attack by the group known as "Team Plasma", these terrorists were seeking to restore the "natural balance" by eliminating trainers, trying to take down the companies responsible for the pokemon battling sport, etc.
The NanoWerx building took heavy damage during the attack, and as one of the only remaining uninjured trainers, and the only ones equipped with a pokemon fitted with a NeuroCollar, you have been tasked by NanoWerx CEO Isaac Winters to operate above the law, find out as much information as you can and cause as much damage as possible to Plasma.
Are you ready to enter into a world of lies, conspiracy, technology, cut-throat corporations and of course, pokemon?
