Plot Making for Dummies

Felkis Armata

Guess this character in my avatar.
Since I am just giving a good advice here who are needing to make the plot needs to be understandable. The people who are making these role-play who know the importance of making a "Clean & Understanding Plot" and that's where you need to learn it. It all needs partly in basics, grammar, sentences and being specific. You need to get to the point, where the plot is needed to be taken place in the real world or fictional world, depending on the creation of the story, the events and places that should be made by your imagination.

And yeah, this is intended for the novice to immediate RP makers who are willing to put efforts on creating a good plot in the role-play. You may not understand a word or a sentence from these topics I made, but it will make use of helping you making a role-play.

  1. If the plot must take place in the Real World, you can prefer Realistic/Modern in detective drama/superhero/historical fiction genre, Futurstic in cyberpunk/mecha/space genre or Modern Fantasy genre which can be fun and also players are interested who obsessed with one of the favorite genres. Alternative History genre is uncommon in role plays and somewhat unpopular. Not likely a good recommendation to begin to make a good roleplay, these players won't really get your attention if it's an Alternative History genre roleplay. Also the "Vampire vs. Werewolf" genre is getting too old and cliché, so don't try to make in the roleplay that as well.
  2. If the plot has taken place in the fictional world, like the Fantasy genre, you need to construct some information about the country, the ruler and the villain that is created from your fantasy. Do take note that you're the creator who made the fictional world and that is your creation of making your kingdom or a country. You may add fictional race as you like, elves, dwarfs or orcs can be added if they should be involved in the plot.
  3. If you're making a fandom role-play, relating from the famous television series from a best-selling novel, just likely choose which popular fan base is needed in the role-play. The plot needs to be taken after the events and try to provide only a few plot elements. Do take note that these canon characters are not participating in your role-play, they are not going to get involved with the other event from the previous one. The OC (Original Character) is likely taking the role and that means, starting from the same way from the original plot, but freshly new characters will act like protagonists, like following up the main protagonist's footsteps from the canon storyline.
  4. It's important that you need to add some good plot elements and making the specific plot to understand clearly. Try not to jumble the plot itself, or otherwise, it will be confusing and barely understanding of the plot, where it all began or how did it started.
  5. Adding some proper information with side characters that is required to connect the plot. However, if you're deciding to add neutral characters that are vital in events or within the group, either you are going to add them as the part of the story or not.
