"Throw your hands up in the sky! Let's set this party off right!"
Gotcha! It’s just little, awkward me. Sorry if you’re expecting Bruno Mars or Slim Shady, but since you’re here…
Hey friends! I'm Phantome, although, you can call me Pan for short. I took a break from RPing and I’ve lost quite a few partners so I'm back at it, looking for creative, long-term partners A.K.A. new friends for this lonely loner who also like role-playing.
This time around I took a different approach. I based this thread off my current favourite tracks. So think of it as a plot-playlist. So you can listen to something while you read!
Here’s the stuff I can offer:
► I can write you detailed responses. I do write 3 paragraphs and upwards. My style is third person, past-tense, in case you're wondering. Plus, I don't enforce a word count, but I do want to respond to something of substance.
► I will plot with you. I like making character histories and world building. Let's make something unique and add multiple levels to the story. I'd Inception the heck outta anything you give me. Honestly, I love reading and adding to your original plots, so hit me with them!
► I'm super, duper laid back about replies. Don't worry about responding everyday. I'm a student so chances are I won't get to respond everyday either.
► I have no set character preferences. My default is a female muse, but I can play males, chickens, talking cars, undead, radioactive monsters, and everything in-between.
► I like romance, but not the forced kind. If you want to make familial, platonic, or antagonistic relationships, let's do it!
► I enjoy random OOC chatter. Excited about figure skating? Cool! Wanna rant about that character you hate on a tv drama? Dish it out! Aside from just role-play, I do want to make real friends here.
Here's what I'm looking for:
► Someone who likes collaboration. I like to bounce my ideas off people so if you're bouncy and reflective, let's tango!
► Someone who's okay with waiting. Like most of you, I live a double life and make the best of both worlds! One online life filled with imagination and wonder. And the "real" one where I have to do mundane things like assignments, chores, and work. Yuck!
► Someone who'll communicate openly and honestly. If you're tired of a plot/lost interest, it's totally okay to ditch it. We don't have to finish it. Just let me know. Ever feel like a Professional Ghostbuster because you've been ghosted so many times? Yeah, me too.
Hopefully, I haven't lost you yet. If I have, you let go of my hand. Darn it, my palms aren't that sweaty. All because of mom's spaghetti.
Here what’s how to navigate the tabs and what they mean:
► So I based this star system on the RP-Style/level of commitment that I’m looking for and NOT based on a craving basis, because, let’s get real, I want them all! Like pokemons!
► Star System:
(⁎) One – Plot that's purely just for shizz and giggles. Not super serious at all. Very ditch-friendly & one liners accepted here!
(⁑) Two – Plot that's kinda serious. Want to develop the plot further and has the potential to grow into a three star plot. At least a few sentences to a few paragraphs!
(⁂) Three – This is the final evolution, baby! I want to write an epic story here so if you’re willing to go all-in and immerse yourself in world of our future fictional love-child, then say “Yes!” I will probs end up writing you at least a whole page on MS Word in terms of replies. It’ll be hella detailed, fam!
BONUS! If you want a super quick description of all the plots:
► Familiar: Playing detectives in a supernatural town with a twist of fates.
► Five Hours: Gaming-centric, based on augmented reality. You ready?
► Just Jammin’: Time-travelling to the prohibition era. What could possibly go wrong?
► Nightcall: You’ve made it! Welcome to the dead drivers’ club!
► Sweet Dreams: Tech-noir, androids, and a vampiric society. Oh my!
If you are interested, please, please, please PM me. I'd prefer to keep the thread clean and I also respond much faster to PMs.
"Because your blood’s running cold outside the familiar true to life..."
Muse A didn’t expect much from their trip to the harbour. Having moved from their small coastal town into the big city, they’ve grown accustomed to the bustle and constant pulse of the pieces in motion. Having no traffic, no noise, and hardly any people speak to rendered them uneasy. While they enjoyed visiting their family in the area, there was a reason why they didn’t want to stay in the supposedly sleepy town.
When Muse A was young, they developed visions that terrified them. Images of turbulent water, disembodied apparitions, and the death of strangers. It would take them years of treatment – either seeing doctors or therapist or drugs – to finally rid themselves of it. However, going back caused a stronger resurgence of the episodes. The “hallucinations” used to occur just at night before they went to bed. Yet, now it was appearing in broad daylight. And it always ended up the same – the woman holding the hands of children as they walked into the depths of the water.
Deciding that enough was enough, Muse A decides to go to the place in their visons to confront it once and for all – in the abandoned lighthouse by the sea. Upon arrival, they are surprised by the presence of Muse B. Muse B introduces themselves as a detective still trying to work on a cold-case. A year prior to Muse A’s trip back to town, twelve children drowned. At least, that’s what the coroner deemed it to be upon the retrieval of the bodies from the ocean. Despite the months of investigation, the culprit had never been found. Although most people had given up, this was personal for Muse B. They were related to one of those children.
So what exactly was lurking underneath this town? What were these people hiding? It was up to the two to find out.
Okay, it’s actually kind of complicated to explain what I want for this. Not sure if I can explain exactly what I had in my head, but I’ll try.
So I wanted this to have fantasy mixed into it because supernatural mystery isn’t enough to push the boundaries, you feel me? By fantasy, I mean, elves, undead kings, dragons, ancient civilizations, etc. While I described this plot in a modern-day setting, I wanted to have either flash backs or flash forwards of times when Muse A was a priest/priestess/oracle of sorts and maybe Muse B an undead knight/immortal warrior/some kind of mystical fighter. I wanted their meeting at the lighthouse to be a catalyst of how intertwined their past/future/overall destiny actually is.
Now, I won’t get into the grit of it here, but if I’ve somehow piqued your interest, just holla.
Based on the “Black Mirror” Episode: Playtest.
This plot can be played either casually or detailed depending on your preferences. Muse A and Muse B are two strangers who volunteered to test this new and highly experimental gaming device that has yet to hit the market. The device, called N.E.S.S. (Neural Embedded Simulation Synchronizer), was designed to bring multiple layers of reality together. By gaining access to the player’s neurons, the game adapts itself to the player’s memories and preferences, making the player experience more personal and addictive effects. If you want to see how N.E.S.S. works, open the spoiler below. It’s basically creating a fictional image on top of “reality” so that game is adaptive to any environment and situation.
If you wanna go the casual route: After the play test, something goes awry. It seems that they couldn’t shut the game off from their reality. Now, they’d have to play through the levels to get it to shut down. We can improvise the levels as we go. Or even base it on real games. Like imagine dodging barrels down the street like Donkey Kong. Or killing Creepers that emerge from dark alleyways.
If you wanna go the detailed route: The test is conducted in two separate rooms simultaneously to accommodate the two participants. And for the most part, everything goes well. The players are thrilled about it and even volunteer for a second round. It wasn’t really until they got home that they started to notice something different. For some reason, they can’t seem to remember what they’ve done earlier that day prior to the playtest. Deciding to shrug it off, they both come in for a second round.
They still the same results, except this time their vision produced something more vivid. Like when they get hit with a knife, the pain receptors in their limbs activate. Now upon going home the next day, they begin to recall things that really didn’t make sense. Like they were watching someone else’s memories. So the two participants decide to share their experiences with each other and it’s revealed that they’re actually seeing each other’s memories. Moreover, they are beginning to lose their own. With this information in tow, they go back to the company to try to fix this.
Unfortunately, nothing can be done and because the two decided to talk to someone else about their experience. Moreover, it created a breach in their contract and got them kicked out of the testing program. Figuring that the only way to get back their memories was to get the device and examine it for themselves, they set out to steal it.
Once they obtain it and put it back on, they come across this avatar, some NPC sort of character that guides them on how their supposed to retrieve back their memories as their realities meld across each other endangering their own sanity.
So the game itself, all the levels, NPCs, quests/story-lines, are open for plotting here. We can go and create an horror game like they did in Black Mirror or if you’d like fantasy or shooters or etc., we can work things out. We can even mesh genres if you want. I promise it’ll be cool!
Muse A was a small time criminal in the modern world. On their way from running away from the cops, they fall into this worm-hole that took them back to 1920s. With their odd attire and weird accent, one of the 1920s mobsters pegs them as a spy. Muse B is a bootlegger running an undercover operation from their boss. Now that Muse A has witnessed it, Muse B is set to take them out. That is until Muse A proves their usefulness to Muse B. Muse A is from the future, right? They should be more educated. Unfortunately, there’s no such thing as signal for their smart phone or Google or the internet in the 1920s. So instead they offer their services as an underling to Muse B so that they don’t get their head blown off.
Just want this to be a fun, light hearted RP full of high jinks that doesn’t have to 100% historically accurate. We are working with a fictional situation here. But I’d love for someone who actually enjoys mafia RPs to make Muse B because they would probably the more serious one between the two. So basically looking for a gangster Batman to my time-travelling Robin here.
"I'm giving you a nightcall to tell you how I feel."
Disclaimer: I haven’t watched the movie Drive. I was song hunting on Youtube when I found this.
So I actually had three completely different ideas here so it’s player’s choice.
The first being, Muse A being an incarnation of Charon or Charon himself (if you want to make him male), except that instead of steering a boat down the river Styx, he/she/they would be driving people to their afterlife destination. Now Muse B is a recently deceased human. For one reason or another (we can really think outside of the box, for these reasons), Muse A and Muse B don’t make the deadline for dropping Muse B off. Of course, this makes Hades upset and he lashes out on Muse A. Now, Muse A, having done this job for centuries, is tired of being told how to do their job for Hades so they quit. As time is precious and there were other souls to carry over to the underworld, Hades appoints Muse B to take Muse A’s job – they were guilty by association – except Muse B has no idea how to navigate the through the passages between the human and underworld. So, Muse B being completely opposed to the idea, sets off to find Muse A and convince them to get their job back.
The second idea is simpler and we can expand on it together. Muse A and Muse B were victims of the same car accident. It could be that they were both driving and they both crashed into each other. Or perhaps, they were in the same vehicle together. Either way, both Muse A and Muse B were doing something important before the crash. And while the glimpse of the light did show itself to them, it immediately disappeared. Seeing as, both had unresolved tasks. They both have to complete what they originally set out to do before they could pass.
The third idea is a lot similar to the video narrative of “Odd Look” also by Kavinsky. Muse A is a zombie, an immortal, or a supernatural being who decides to deal justice when the proper authorities aren’t doing their proper jobs (Think: The Punisher meets Ghostrider). During one of their trips, they encounter Muse B, whose in trouble. Except, it was a lot bigger than the situation that they just saved Muse B from. To put it into perspective, imagine Muse B held at gun point by a robber. Muse A helps them out only to find out that they were actually doing an undercover job for the mafia or a larger criminal organization.
"Sweet dreams are made of these. Who am I to disagree?"
You stir violently at the dampness.
It was a sensation so foreign that you jolt and hit your head on a heavy, dense surface, only then, realizing that your eyes have been closed the entire time. How long were you under? The very sterile scent of metal fills your nostrils, skin soaked through with red liquid in a vat of glass, strung up high. It didn’t take long to notice the machine injected into your spine as you squirm uncomfortably.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Pounding your fists were futile. There must have a hundred thousand. All like you. Seeing them so still left you in pure panic. They weren’t moving. These things. The ones trapped in these chambers. In rows and columns of glistening silhouettes barely visible under low light. Everyone had their eyes closed. Just as you had…
Why were you the only one awake?
The main concept here is that society is slowly undergoing a radical change of guard – mainly that vampires are taking over the population of humans. They began their take over when they perfected the GENIs, short for Gemini Androids. Until then, they’ve been feasting on vagrants, teenage runaways, and displaced citizens that the Fleshies (nickname for humans) never truly cared for. But their abattoir grew emptier with each passing year. The more their own population grew, the less sustainable it was to be plucking off humans from the streets. Human Law Enforcement officials grew suspicious of these hundreds of missing persons reports from all over the globe. So the Twin project began.
I just started developing the history, setting, and overall world for this so, I’d prefer someone who likes being immersed in detail because I want to bring this idea to life. PM me if you want to learn more.
