Kiya is a demi-god; half mortal half immortal. Shes on the run; from her parents who hate her to monsters that want to kill her.
She finds her way Camp Half-blood where kids like her are safe. Except heres the catch; without permission Kiya couldn't enter camp. Its also discovered that she is unable to eat or drink nectar and ambrosia.
When she joins on a Quest after a prophecy from the oracle she is claimed by Poseidon in the Realm of Hades but learns through dreams she was only claimed as a means of protection.
In reality shes a demi-titan; a Kronos-Child like Chrion and she would be able to control time but the longer she does the weaker she gets. And at first when her powers show its mostly small earthquakes, with few showings of her temporal power. She thinks it's Poseidons blessing to help her since he also had dominion over storms and earthquakes.
Sidenote:
After the first titanomachy and the gods overthrew the Titans they cursed them and their descendants as well. They would no longer heal from Nectar and Ambrosia but instead it would be like ingesting acid. The opposite reaction of a demigod. That means Chiron would take more of his mythology self and learn herblore and modern medicine practices because he can't eat or drink godly food and say in like Luke's case (cause we can do this pre Percy or Post Percy as Chiron's immortal lol) he could eat/drink the godly foods until he was possessed by Kronos (as we never see Luke eat the foods after his possession in the books this could explain it) and then his body started rejecting it.
