Pirate War (w/ Roman)

Elm felt her face go pale. She turned around and faced the crew member. She nodded.
"Um, yes," she quietly replied, "he did bring me aboard. He asked me to come." She pointed to the waters. "I just, um, like the ocean."

She turned back to the railing. It was then that she could see the Pharoh dotting the horizon. A brief smile flashed across her face.
The man turned his head in the direction she was looking, "What are yo-- Oh. The Pharoh.... Anyways we all like the ocean, that's why're we're pirates! How did he manage to get you pass the captain?"

Meanwhile, Alastair made his way up to the deck, only to be greeted by the presence of the captain. "Did you kill her?" He asked coldly. Alastair immediately lied, "Yes I have. Tossed her out a window a second ago." The captain nodded and made his way to his cabin. Alastair sighed and turned around, only to be taken by surprise, seeing, Elm still here. He froze up and pretended to watch the crew work as if nothing between the two just happened.

Elm pondered the question. "Oh, you know..." She spotted the man out of the corner of her eye. She couldn't even remember his name. "We're in love." She blurted out. She could feel nausea set in after she said it. "The captain couldn't break up such a thing. He seems to have a little bit of a...um, soft spot."

Alastair waved his hands, panicking toward the lie, "I saved your life and yet you lie to the man with such a serious topic!" He mouthed to her.

The man nodded, "Alastair? Love? Those aren't two things you think of together... How long have you two known one another?" He asked curiously. Alastair continued to watch, obviously angry at the woman and at his fellow crew member.

Elm couldn't tell what he was mouthing, but she knew that he was angry. She turned to the crew member. "Oh, you know...for a while now, but who can keep track of these things?" She pointed at Alistair.

"Oh look!" She exclaimed with fake excitement, "there he is now! Better go say hello!" She then advances towards Alistair, grabbing his wrist and pulling back into the inside of the ship.

"In my defense," she said, teeth gritted, "it was pretty good acting. I was just trying to see my ship, it's not my fault your piggy crew is so nosy!"

Alastair frowned, "Because we're like family here. We are like brothers to one another." He said, snatching his wrist away. "Don't call them pigs either, I have a few names I could call you." Alastair stretched his arms before speaking again, "Good. I decided I won't let you go free anyways." He said, snapping his fingers. Two men came from the shadows and grabbed her by the arms. "You know my name.... The man said it. What is yours?'

Elm felt contempt drive up inside of her as the two men grabbed her arms. "You can call me Elm," she replied bluntly, trying to wriggle out of the man's grip. "And why do you care about my name?"

"Why not? You know mine." Alastair protested. "Don't you go telling people that we're lovers. Especially my crew." He said angrily. Alastair leaned against the wall of the boat and nodded, signaling the men to search her for the knife. "When you find the knife tie her down again. We can't have her leaving..." he ordered. The men began searching Elm for the knife and when they found it, they tossed it to Alastair. "Thank you, now tie her to that chair. Nice and tight mates!" The men nodded and obeyed their orders, tying Elm to the chair.

"I did what I had to do to keep myself from being discovered," Elm snapped as the men tied her down, "Don't think for a minute that I meant any of what I said, you starry-eyed lapdog."

"Why don't you just throw me into the cells, let me rot in there? I at least wouldn't have to listen to you in my final hours," she added.

"I think think I'd rather watch you rot. The again I need to hide you from the captain. He told me to kill you, yet you're sitting here." Alastair said, annoyed with himself for that. "Just consider yourself lucky, and stop calling me and my crew names." He stated, pushing the chair so it fell backwards.

Elm hit the ground with a thud, immediately disoriented. "If you regret letting me live so much," she grumbled, "then kill me already!"

"Did you not here me? I won't kill ya... but then agai--" Alastair was interrupted by a loud noise from the deck. He jumped up and went to the hatch, poking his head out to check out the scene. They were under attack, and weren't even ready. Alastair came back down and picked the chair up, "You're coming with me. I think your captain is looking for you."

Elm heard the commotion from upstairs and smiled. "I told you they'd come, and it won't be pretty."

On the deck of the Sea Maiden, Captain Keen had just boarded, with a dozen of foot soldiers behind him. "Alright, you sons-of-b*tches!" He snatched a Sea Maiden crew member and put him in a headlock, holding the sword to his throat. "I want my first mate or I kill every one of your fellow men."

Alastair chuckled and tossed Elm over his shoulder, "You did say that. I give you credit."

The captain stepped out if his quarters to face, Keen. "Keen!? What are you doing on my ship? Go back to your luxury or whatever you call it." Men started to come from all over the ship. "If you choose to stay you can deal with my crew and I."

Keen didn't budge from his spot. Men from the Pharoh continued to pile onto the Sea Maiden. "I'll gladly deal with you and your sorry crew until I get my first mate back - who knows, I may deal with you after, too." With a single hand motion, the other Pharoh crew members began to draw their swords.

Alastair peeked the scene again, this time Elm was on his shoulder, "I'm not gonna make it pass that crowd..."

"Captain! We're set and ready when you are!" One of the men shouted. The captain nodded and they all placed their hands on their swords and guns. "Keen, I'm sorry to inform you, but your first mate is dead. I had my quarter mate do it."

Alastair frowned as he watched. "Wouldn't telling him that just make him mad?!" He whispered.

Keen's face immediately grew pale, then red with fury. "Very well. Then I'll kill you AND your quarter master. And this man." He gestured toward the crew member still in his headlock. Keen swiftly slit his throat and threw him to the ground. "And your whole crew for that matter. It's about time I end this feud."

"No!" Elm whispered, craning her neck to see Alistair from her position on his shoulder, "You have to do something! No one is ready for a war, Al...Alison? No, Alistair! Alistair, do something!"

"I'm thinking! Damn it dad! Where was your mind when you we're speaking?!" Alastair pushed the hatch open and climbed out. "I didn't kill her! She's right here!" He shouted.

"Did you defy my orders, son? I'll deal with you after this." The captain or Alastair's father looked over to Keen, "I guess he didn't kill your first mate..."

Elm looked over her shoulder to Captain Keen. "I'm fine, captain! There's no need for any fighting..." She then looked to Alistair, "Wait, son?!"

Keen eyed her, then eyed the other captain. "Tell your boy to give me back my first mate. Now."

Alastair nodded, "I wish I could explain, but it seems we won't be speaking to one another for a while." He said.

"What if I choose not to?" The captain asked, the crew behind him raising their swords and guns. All the weapons were aimed at Keen and his men, as more members of the Maiden came flooding in from behind. "You're trapped... What's your plan now?"

Keen stood there, pondering his answer, he looked at Elm, and sighed.

"What if I let you keep the girl?"

"What?!" Elm exclaimed.

"She has superior knowledge of the seas, probably more than your crew's knowledge combined. She would be useful. Very useful. You keep her, I leave...how about it?" He looked at Elm with a somewhat solemn expression. "I'm sorry."

Alastair scowled at Keen, "Two things for you mate: Number one, I'm the one with the knowledge here! Number two, you just abandoned your colleagues like this?!"

Alastair's father hit him upside his head with a gun, "Shut up..." he said looking at Keen. He smirked and pointed towards the Pharoh, "You can get out of here now and thanks for the addition to my crew. Now go." He said triumphantly. The men behind Keen and his crew, moved out of the way, so they could leave. "Don't come attacking until you're superior! You hear that Keen? Superior!"

As he began to board his ship once more, Keen looked over his shoulder, seething. It was a look that anyone could tell meant that he would return. With that, he led his crew back to his ship and began to set sail.

Meanwhile, Elm wriggled out of Alistair's grip and stumbled to the side of the ship, hands still bound behind her but desperate. "Hey!" She shouted, "Come back! I said come back!" The ship paid no mind to her cries, and continued to sail away.

Alastair walked over to Elm and sighed, "Now you see why your captain isn't a good one... He just abandoned you with his rival." He said annoyed with Keen's actions. "I guess all I can say is, welcome aboard." Alastair used his dagger to cut the ropes around her wrist and heard a whistle, signalling that they we're about to set sail. "I'll show you where you'll be sleeping. Lets go."

Elm looked over her shoulder at Alistair. As she silently followed him, she decided to speak up. "You know, you're captain is hardly admirable either. And Captain Keen did what he had to do. He wanted to prevent the death of his crew."

"I doubt my dad will kill a bunch of innocent men. I think he just wants Keen, though you are right. Soon, I'll be the captain here though..." Alastair said smiling. "I can trust you won't stuck a knife in my back?" He asked leading her to the resting area.
