Petshop of Horrors
"There are all manner of humans. There are all manner of animals...."
I enjoy episodic things, really. This would play out with a few major characters, like the Petshop owner, and probably some people who come around and harass them (someone always looking for the right pet but just can't find it? A detective? An exasperated landlord?), but it would end up always turning the focus to the Owner, and the Pet, and like Petshop of Horrors, the pet would take a human form. We can discuss if the human form is visible to others, and under what circumstances, if the human form is "real", and other such things, because ah...things can get weird that way, haha. These would be in the vein of fables and such - morality tales, some with good endings, and others with bad endings, and all of them building into the constant cast until we get a resolution on that main arc. For more details, see here:
So please, take a look at what I have to offer, but don't forget to read my rules, there is a code in them.
1. Don't God-Mod. In other words, don't make my character speak, don't make my character, don't make my character take damage, and don't control my character. If you want something to go a certain way for plot purposes, just PM me and ask. Usually, I accept "god-modding" during travel and the like. It is usually acceptable to assume movement if a character is already committed to the journey.
2. Please be able to play both genders, and play multiple roles. Your main character(s) may be just male or just female, but I expect all the side characters and NPCs to have life and flavor, too.
3. On the note of characters: I will always play one female character. So, be aware of that. With that said, I usually also always play one male character, and I do MxM, MxF, and FxF pairings, though I prefer MxF.
4. I only RP on threads, (or GDocs in rare cases), so no PM, kik, discord, e-mail, or other rps with me. So that I know you’ve read the rules this far, please tell me about your favorite food!
5. Please be able to write more than a couple of sentences as responses to me. I have tried to do “simple” RPs, but I end up not feeling motivated to respond or continue the RP. I will need you to be able to write a paragraph or two, each post, at least.
6. PM if you are interested. The only reason for you not to PM me is if you cannot do so due to the fact you haven't reached 24 hours/10 posts.
Guidelines:
1. I do not like to be hassled for posts. Especially if I have already posted that day or the day before. Do not bother me for posts until at least two days have passed. Otherwise, I will start to resent our RP and lose interest in it.
2. I enjoy OOC talk, however I will not respond to "hi" or "-poke-" or equivalents. Have substance to the chatter, even if it just asking "How are you?".
3. Do not bump our thread if I have not posted. I will not post out of spite. I have a problem with this, I acknowledge it, I'm not fixing it.
4. On that matter, please keep OOC to PMs and not on our IC thread. IC is for posting. If you have a question, concern, or comment, just shoot me a PM.
5. In general, I do not enjoy immediate romances or "slice-of-life" RPs, so do not come to me expecting I'll do either. I may make rare exceptions.
I love episodic things, so this would likely be an episodic thing with a couple of reoccurring characters. It’s a way we could explore the idea of the nature of human and animal relationships, following themes of pets as replacements (Alice the rabbit, the mermaid, etc.), pets for comfort (the German Shepherd, the Teddy Bear), pets for improvement (the trainer pet – I think it was a cat?, the lucky cat), pets for comfort, pets for friendship – pets for so much, and play out happy and sad stories alike as people use pets for good and ill.
Of course, I want to keep the idea that these pets have a “human” form that sometimes only the owner can see, and sometimes others can see. I want to play with pets picking their owner. And, I want to play with mythical themes and supernatural elements.
Obviously, we’d need the Petshop Owner, and then the various customers. I had an idea of one reoccurring being someone looking for a pet, and it takes a while for them to do so, but they chill with the Petshop Owner and help out there as something of an unofficial volunteer. A cop/detective is also good, since lots of weird things would be linked to the petshop. Perhaps others, too – I’m open, but the important thing would be our ability to make episodes of this and play with new pets and new characters.
I think I would like to play, as a reoccuring character, someone looking for a new pet after the loss of one. I would prefer someone else play the petshop owner! I'd also be happy to throw in a detective or exasperated landlord to cause havoc for the petstore owner, too!
As for the major arc, we'd likely need to discuss that, based on your thoughts for the petshop owner, or some themes you yourself would like to see played out!
