Because I was going to make him a bit more hot headed. He would have been a school bully before becoming friends witht he other three. I wanted to give him more personality than just "Gosh I sure do love traps!"

I guess that's a better than making him kind of dumb as his defining trait. Mystery Inc. does that well but I've heard mixed things about how the more recent straight-to-DVD movies handle it.
